It's truly astonishing to me how backwards England was in Valhalla compared to Greece in Odyssey despite being 1200 years in the future

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:05 PM PST

It would make far more sense to me had Valhalla been the one that occured 1200 years before Odyssey. The cities, if we could even call them cities, all look like absolute shitholes compared to even the smaller Greek city states, in terms of aesthetics, architecture, engineering etc.

I just hope we could get an AC game at the height of the Roman Empire and witness the glory of Rome at its peak. It is just unfathomable how Europe could have gone so backwards after the fall of the Roman Empire. I mean I would understand if Rome got completely wiped out and left no trace of its achievements. But that's not what happened. Were the Barbarians not able to replicate even on a modest scale, the engineering feats of the Romans when they had all those leftover buildings and structures to study?

So impressed with Origins' open world (Egypt)

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:01 AM PST

I came to Origins having only played half of Black Flag years ago. The gameplay is similar, but better as you would expect from a newer game but I don't want to get into that.

..How amazing is Egypt. They've done a seriously great job. Hidden tombs built into the hills like in real life. Alexandria and the real landmarks like the lighthouse. Pyramids. I actually feel like I've been to Egypt. I watch shows on Nat Geo about Ancient Egypt and this game is obviously well researched. Looking forward to playing more and seeing how it goes with Cleopatra. I'm just at the part where the Roman ships are approaching. . .. Great stuff..

[SPOILER] Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla made my brain explode! SPOILER ALERT!

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 09:07 PM PST

I've been playing Assassin's Creed: Vallhalla for 125H 41M 39S. A majority of that time was spent exploring and collecting; clearing the map of those blue, yellow, and white marks that signifies sidequests, significant/insignificant wealth, and artifacts. After completing Asgard/Jotunheim questline and watching the Hidden Truth, I was blown away. But after watching Basim throughout the Oxenefordscire questline; how he's always in Sigurd's ear; my mind exploded upon noticing how he looks and sounds like Loki! The story have not confirmed this yet but I am in love with this game's story! A huge step-up from Assassin's Creed: Odyssey. I got so excited, I just had to write all of this.

    Living History VS fantasy Vikings.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 12:41 PM PST

So I have been playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla and I fully love the story of the game and the use of the Sagas in the story, I would agree with many people who have reviewed the game that they could have told the larger story of Great Heathen Army much better, But I enjoy the stories of each realm in the four Kingdoms that would go on and make England much later on. History wise so far so good.

However and this is not an attack of fans that are in to Viking fantasy that the game takes on with customs that look more like the LARP (Live Action Role Playing) in its custom design. You also have late medieval castle sieges which is very out of place in the Viking age and yet no shield wall Viking battles.

Many people reviewing the game did not like the sieges, even when the reviewer would say they knew noting about Viking history and it seems that they are not making any more late medieval sieges, rather the team has gone in favor of more Viking raids that were seen at the time of the Viking age by making a new update in Feb called THE RIVER RAID and hopefully the Ireland and Paris DLC can see more historical accuracy sieges. However custom wise they seem to be going even more in to fantasy as seen in the next big update with The Niflheim Theme. So far even with all the bugs the assassinscreed team seem to be working very hard on, they have have been adding much to the game even after the launch. Now am not saying to remove all the fantasy customs and weapons , what am asking is if people would like to see more Viking clothes and weapons that is described in the sagas and found in archaeology, rather then what we are getting so far? examples on how Vikings dressed can be seen in links below.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmENfnyNUok

Viking fantasy weapons are the Longswords and Flail for example. Yet we still have no broadsword.

Just would like to get other peoples feed back and please no one start fighting with me or other people that have a view different to there's

Has there ever being a protagonist who didn't had a traumatic experience as a child?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 02:38 PM PST

I haven't played all AC games but for what I can remember must of them had a traumatic event as a child and then skipped forward to adulthood.

I think ezio was at least a teenager/young adult when he saw his family hung. Has there ever being a protagonist who had a "normal" uprising and then discovered the AC world?

Now that I have completed the game... Spoilers bellow

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 01:20 PM PST

I have done the main story and almost everything else and I'm wondering now... Why Eivor is buried in Vinlad ?? And he is buried in a shallow grave as apposed to burnt on a pyre like their tradition. We can see how they are buried several times during the story. You can also find where Eivor body will be placed. It's near the stone carin in Vinland. They never really addressed that, maybe it's gonna be in the dlc's but none of them hints a return to Vinland.

Which Assassins Creed game do you think best captures actually being an assassin?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 08:59 PM PST

Thinking about playing or replaying one of the assassins creed games. I'm curious which one people think most plays like you're an assassin rather than the protagonist of a ubisoft game. So for example Black Flag is right out of the competition since you don't do much assassin-ing and the pirate stuff is by far the best part of the game.

I've heard Unity is actually pretty good, maybe I should give that a try?

Assassins Creed Origins Needed A More Focused Narrative.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 01:33 AM PST

I'm probably the biggest origins fanboy, its Genuinely one of the best games I've played, and the story is really intriguing though it could've been better.

The narrative of origins is a strong one, it starts as a revenge tale then gets mixed with politics and the initiation of the hidden ones.

i think the game started off really good, the way we went back and forth was really good, and the second act is probably the best, when assigned with multiple targets to hunt - my main problems lie with act 3, this is supposed to be the biggest act, joining all together, the problem here that I realized after playing multiple times is that there is a lack of communication with the player, there are many times throughout the last few hours where they just assume we know this and that, my theory is that they removed many quests from the story, because there are genuinely many missions where I feel like I missed something. The lack of introduction of the main villain is also really wierd, Flavius might've made a good villain with his arrogance, tho we barley even saw him, nor was he mentioned as much.

i feel like we needed a middle act, one that is missing to flesh out many if quickly introduced characters, like flavius & Septemius - more so the hidden ones initiation was cool, it lacked the buildup necessary, i wish we had discussions of it beforehand, slowly putting rules etc, then finally initiating it.

Has the Performance and Glitches in AC Valhalla Improved Since Launch

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 07:03 AM PST

Goodmorning! I initially was waiting to pick up AC Valhalla until some of the glitches/bugs seen at launch were ironed out, but with the game on sale, I was wondering if this is a good time to pick it up? Have a lot of the major issues been resolved or would it be better to wait on this game for a little longer. I appreciate any insight you all might have!

I Remember Reading About a Cancelled Assassin's Creed Movie on the AC Wiki Years Ago But I Can't Find It Anymore. Was That A Real Thing or Is My Mind Playing Tricks On Me?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:56 PM PST

I vividly recall reading on assassinscreed.fandom.com years ago about a movie that was supposed to be a remake of AC1 that was cancelled due to pressure from Nizari Isma'ilis, followers of the same branch of Islam the historical Assassins followed. But I can't seem to find any trace of anything like that online. I'm wondering if this is a false memory or I'm mixing things up or something. Does anyone remember anything like that?

Is anyone experiencing pop ins in Valhalla?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 07:43 PM PST

I'm playing Assassins Creed Valhalla on the Xbox Series X and I'm noticing a few pop-ins. At times when I'm using the bird I could see grass coming in the closer I get or when I'm in the boat the closer I get to land I could see the edge of land coming in. Is that normal?

    [Spoilers] anomalies after main story

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:25 AM PST

If you don't complete the anomalies before the main story ends, you turn into basim instead of Layla when you do them. When I did one basim states, "Ah my anomalies." My question is why did basim/Loki put the anomalies there? I know we needed to see them for the story, but I'm just not sure why he would be the cause of them being there.

Just Uninstalled Valhalla, reinstalling to try and get rid of some bugs in Missing Ale quest.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:06 PM PST

I couldn't finish the Missing Ale quest because Ake stayed on the ridge overlooking the bandit camp and will not move. I have tried about everything to get around it but without a way to restart the mission I just said the hell with it and uninstalled. Am reinstalling now, hope it will help get rid of some of the bugs.

Valhalla: how do combat finishers work?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:54 PM PST

I haven't seen any solid information on this. As far as I know there's two kinds. The stun finishers where you use the enemy's weapon, and the finishers where you use your own weapons, (similar to the warrior takedown finishers). I'm more wondering about the ones with your own weapons... It seems like I've had the most success performing these on the backs of enemies with a heavy attack. Anyone have a guaranteed method on how to perform these? I'm a fan of flashy moves

The Stealth in AC Valhalla is so close to being amazing

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 03:48 AM PST

For example I am in this castle where I can see from the moment I sneak in, that there is this possible cool stealthy parkour route that will cover all the places I need to go - open up all the correct vantage points I could shoot certain stuff from. But the fact that in these post-AC-IV games you can climb practically everywhere, just kills the purpose.
I can wait for a certain pair of guards to be in a certain position and parkour through somewhere but what is really the point when I can simply climb a straight flat slab of a tall castle tower just from the ground up? What is the value of the parkour then when everything is so mindlessly reachable?

There should be a large set of surfaces you can't simply walk up to and climb - atleast the most obviously logical ones - only then is there some value to the places you can climb or sneak up to.
PS: Yes there is some stuff like that, e.g. they have these walls around some areas with wooden pikes that you can't climb to cross but that's all, that's the only place they limit you.

(This was the reason the couple of Castel Sant'Angelo infiltration missions in AC Brotherhood are some of my favorite AC missions of all time, there is stuff at stake, and you can't just walk into a wall and up the wall and be done with, it feels as if your character really pulled something off by sneaking in.. now its just meh)

Does the Alignment affect weapons too?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 01:56 PM PST

Everyone says that your armor is affected by the bonuses you get in the skill tree. If you upgraded mostly Raven clan tree then you need to use Raven armor to get its bonuses from the skill tree. But what about weapons? They have an Alignment too.

First Syndicate playthrough: initial character question for a late player?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:07 PM PST

Since it is my first time playing Syndicate (pretty late to the game, I know) I had a question about character choices that I haven't seen answered recently.

Is there any drawback to playing as one character over another? I love to be as stealthy as possible and I really just fell in love with Evie so I have been playing as her so far. Are there any drawbacks to playing primarily as only one of the twins instead of using both?

(I am also not a huge combat fan for AC games and I really prefer stealth so combat styles or benefits for each twin is not a barrier for me)

Are there any other games like AC:B singleplayer?

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 03:37 PM PST

I loved the singleplayer mechanics of building up your brotherhood and have to take down the Borgia towers to take back control of the map and was wondering if anyone knows of any other game with similar mechanics to these.
