    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:20 AM PST

Note: We have recently gotten patch 1.1.0 and it's been a while since the last post was created, so we are creating another tech support megathread. Previous tech support megathreads will be linked at the bottom of this post.

As with any video game, after the launch of Assassin's Creed Valhalla some players are inevitably experiencing technical issues. And even though tech support posts are banned on the subreddit, we are creating this megathread for people to share and help each other with various technical issues they may have. These include, but are not limited to: questions, game crashes, performance, spec requirements, bug reports, issues with visual degradation etc.

Make sure your PC specs meet the minimum requirements of the game!

List of currenty known issues - Updated December 18th

Make sure you also have the latest graphics drivers installed! At the time of this post those are 460.89 for Nvidia and 20.12.1 for AMD.

Provide any information you can - platform, PC specs, what version of Windows you're using, what issue you are having and how to potentially reproduce it etc. Any information you can give might be useful to other users to help solve your problem.

If you're reporting Valhalla issues that contain spoilers for the main story, present day or any other narrative content, make sure to properly hide them!

    How to hide spoilers:

    Eivor is a Viking.

    Result: Eivor is a Viking.

DO NOT leave any spaces at the start or the end. You can also use the "Spoiler" function in Reddit's text editor.

If you can't find a solution for your problem, you can also visit the Ubisoft Support page for Valhalla, the official Player Support forums or the #tech-support channel on our official Discord.

A tip if you’re short on supplies!

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:58 PM PST

I was short 700 supplies from completely leveling up Ravensthorpe to 6 AND getting the completionist achievement. I started to go around collecting all the little chest around the map and then I thought to myself "Self! Where would supplies be?" Answer, DOCKS! So don't be foolish like me and waste an hour getting every little chest possible, lol. The chest with supplies in them are rectangular shape and wooden. The normal round metal chests have the crafting materials in them. So pop over to some docks, and if it's a wooden chest, than it's supplies. And they'll always have 100 in them.

I hope this helps someone save some time. happy gaming and happy holidays to you all!

Can we please talk about how cool Jorvik is?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 04:29 PM PST

Honestly this city is so freaking cool, looks like something out of Skyrim. Definitely the coolest location in the game so far, love how dense and nestled it feels especially in the cold of Northumbria.

Top 5 things you’d like to see added (or changed even) with AC Valhalla

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 03:31 PM PST

    • NEW GAME +
    • Faster shop replenishment
    • Item previews in shop and at armorer
    • Gear comparison (in shops and inventory)
    • Transmog

New Game + is biggest for me because I've 100% the game and I'm just trying to find things to do to keep me playing aside from just the 10 opals a day from daily quests. At 200 hours and finding less and less to do.

Why does the game force me to wear that creepy mask everytime I go to Gloucestershire?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:18 AM PST

I finished that quest line and the game a few days ago but everytime I go to that region the game force me to use that outfit.

Can we get an option to remove this feature? It can't be that hard to change this

The "Premium Starter Pack", and the premium problem in general

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 04:23 PM PST

Can someone explain to me why I paid for the Gold edition of AC Valhalla, and am now expected to pay another 30 euro for a "premium" starter pack? I feel like if I pay that much money for a game, and purchase the Season pass, I should at least be entitled to the Add ons that come with it. But thanks for being Ubisoft, Ubisoft. Walling off the good content behind paywalls as usual

Not to mention that with their current plan, it might actually get to a point where the amount of Premium content in the game is equal to the amount of actual content, not to mention the premium content looks and just IS better than most weapons in the base game

It's a super scummy way of getting money out of people, especially seeing as there's people like me who pay more than they have to to recieve content in the future, and put faith in you to provide good content. It feels like a massive punch in the dick

Anyone feels like Origins should have taken place a lot earlier

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 05:42 AM PST

personally I hate that it takes place in 49 B.C.E too modern. It killed off a lot of amazing settings for Assassin's Creed that takes place before Origins. Odyssey took place earlier to tell the origin of the templars or their precursors. it is good but enough. we should not get another AC game after the origin. I really hate this because Ancient Persia was always my favourite setting I want AC to be.

What do you guys think ?

Valhalla Unusable Sync Point [location spoiler]

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 08:58 AM PST

The sync point for the top of the magic tower in Jotunheim is not actually useful as a fast travel spot. The act of climbing to the top, moving through the windows and other openings to trigger reveals, is what exposes the soft-landing haystack at the bottom. If you fast-travel to the sync point later, none of those triggers are activated, and while the haystack still appears to be there, there is an invisible floor between you and it. Cannot do leap of faith and will go splat.

This is not an easy sync point to reach, and climbing down is likewise at best tedious.

Do not know if this bug has always been present or if it is one of the many new glitches introduced with the Yule update.

My feedback so far on the game (22 hrs in)

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 05:32 PM PST

I was seeing several feedback posts before I got the game a few days ago, so I thought I would share my own now that I got to play it.

I've finished Norway (took me 12 hrs to finish all the initial area) and have finished the one story arc in England. This game is just brilliant, it's amazing.

From the modern day, which is extremely nice to enjoy and read e-mails and what not, to England, everything is so great. The combat is amazing, the story is amazing, the characters are amazing.

I feel it's gonna take me 100-150+ hrs to finish this game, and it's worth every penny I paid, and seems to be one of my favorite games so far.

I've seen several people complain about the audio, but to be honest it seems perfect to me (I play on PS4 and got a physical copy if that matters).

There was a lot of complaining I heard about which made me think about not getting the game, but now that I got it these complaints are very insignifcant and just nitpicks in my opinion.

Would highly recommend the game! Note that usually people who don't enjoy the game would find the time to write a post about it, and people who are having a blast are too focused on the game to comment about it, so I tried to share my own opinion on the game just so the people who enjoy the game aren't as underrepresented.

The poison/fire ability timer should pause when a finisher animation starts

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 12:54 PM PST

I use the fire ability a lot because of the Hel's Damnation buff, but it's sad to see the ability ticking away when you are busy looking at a finisher animation. I don't dislike the animation, but it's just annoying to lose time on an ability like that making it a lot less effective.

Theory on why assassins are so good at fighting

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:53 PM PST

not sure if this has already been said so i'll say it, all of the assassins we have played as are essentially killing machines, if you so choose you can mow your way through 100 enemies without dying if you're good enough. you can even dodge attack that come from behind you and see arrows and bullets trajectories before they're fired, my theory is that because all of the assassins we play as have a portion of Isu DNA, they very slightly gained a piece of their "sixth sense" of future intuition that can show them attacks before they happen. i know that all of these assassins were well trained but it would make much more sense if they had a genetic sense of an attack coming at them rather than just "knowing because you're trained". sorry if that was a lot i just can't stop thinking about this.

AC Valhalla: More freedom in movement needed

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 04:38 PM PST

I have been playing AC games since the first one and obviously the movement system has gone through a lot of changes since then. I did not expect AC Valhalla to add the same depth that older games had, because the parkour is not really that big of a focus to the game.

However, I do have a few gripes with the current system that should even be fixable with patches:

    1. Let me step off ledges whenever I want. Not whenever the drop won't do damage. Whenever. I. Want. The amount of times I decided to to jump way too far instead of slowly climbing down a few feet because I wasn't able to simply to step off a ledge is staggering.
    2. Back eject when I want to. You might notice a theme her. Let me back eject when I want to, not when you deem it safe for me to do. If I fuck up it will be my fuck up. But at least I'd get to make that decision.
    3. Side eject when I want to. I think you get the idea by now.

Three very simple tweaks, that would vastly improve the rather limiting parkour/movement system in my opinion. A littly less hand holding. Make it optional, if you really think it's too hard for most people to handle (it isn't).

Are there any changes to the movement system that you would like to see? Preferably changes that could feasibly be delivered with a patch?

Cities need to make a comeback

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 12:30 AM PST

I really miss large scale cities in the AC games I remember how immense and awesome Paris seemed in unity. I was fine with the origins cities because they had unique architecture and where sorta large but odyssey and Valhalla especially have had these really small cities that are lacking things to do. Lunden was a real let down in Valhalla.

It's mildly infuriating that Ubisoft did put regular single handed swords in Valhalla but only allows Eivor to use them a single use throwing weapon

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 10:40 AM PST

I simply can't believe how much of a ridiculous omission it is for an AC game to really not include the common single handed sword that has been in pretty much every single AC game since 2007. (Frankly that would be like CoD having a game without an assault rifle). I know some like to think that the outlandish large and out of place Zweihänder style swords are a replacement for them but they really aren't. Once you get the throwable perk ability Eivor can indeed pick up a single handed sword his enemies drop (so the fight animation and weapon model already exists in the game) but Eivor can only use it to throw at his opponents. Out of all the things to remove from an AC game I'll never understand why the most basic weapon of all was taken away.

(Spoilers) 2 valhalla side quests that gave me a chuckle

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 03:14 AM PST

    1. The world event named "the prodigy " where you have to fight a bishop to let a band play their music. The entire time there's a guy yelling "smack my bishop!" If you don't know, "smack my bitch up" is a song from the 90s by the band prodigy.
    2. Whatever world event it was where eivor says "so the cake was a lie?" Awesome portal reference that reminded me of when Mario auditore quipped "its me, mario!"

EDIT: Wow. There sure are a lot of these funny references in valhalla. Some of the ones mentioned i knew about and some im gonna have to find now that you guys have mentioned them. I'm glad there's a more comedic side in this entry to the series. Something I feel was missing in the last few installments(outside of that one mission arc in odessey where you have to save a town but everything goes horribly wrong).

LOD distance needs a complete overhaul in Assassins Creed franchise

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:46 AM PST

Here is a picture on pc at max settings. The rendering distance of the level of detail is really low, specially for the grass. It makes the terrain look very flat and hurts the visuals. Please zoom in the picture to see what I am talking about

Ubisoft should tweak Anvil Engine for the next game and give us better quality in this particular aspect

    AC Valhalla ending discussion *SPOILERS&

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:43 PM PST

This is the craziest ending I've seen in an Assassin's creed game in a LONG time. I LOVE how Assassin's creed kind of went down hill but came back with two HUGE hits. Origins and Odyssey blew my expectations.

I love the historical accuracy in these games too.

Anyways, being a viking was so much fun. Can't wait for the next game... Basim coming back... just wow. I became a huge fan of Layla and am hoping she makes a come back but I doubt it.

Why can’t I make custom sets like in Odyssey?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:41 AM PST

    Title basically.

In odyssey we had the option to load predefined sets of armor and equipment which made it easier to switch from one playstyle to another, according to the armor stats and bonuses.

Now in Valhalla, whenever I want to change the look of Eivor or try a different build, I have to manually re-equip every part of the armor, which takes unecessary time. Same could work for the tattoos and hair presets! Let me save a berserker look with my berserker armor and let me have let's say short hair when having the magister armor. It is so simple and yet ..

As much as I enjoy Valhalla, I can't understand Ubisoft's kink for removing good features from previous games for the sake of not being repetitive.
