A Assassin's Creed Located in the Yucatan during Spanish Conquests of the maya would be cool.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 05:26 AM PDT

A Assassin's Creed Located in the Yucatan during Spanish Conquests of the maya would be cool.

I think a great location for the next Assassin's Creed game would be the Yucatan Peninsula during the mid 1500's. During this time, the Spanish were in a brutal and tough conquest of the North Yucatan States, which they struggled. The Spanish even failed in their first 2 attempts, before finally securing the northern yucatan after crucial maya alliances and defeating the Maya Eastern Alliance.

The Maya northern cities were pretty large, with great cities such as Coba, Campeche, Uxmal, and Grand Cairo. However, they are depopulated from disease and the League of Mayapan collapse. Cities such as Mayapan and Chichen Itza are virtually abandoned at this period. The Maya cities are had many palaces and temples, such as Campeche. Campeche had around a dozen different massive temples and palaces according to Spanish sources, as well as a dense urban area of over 5,000 buildings and a wall.

We already know there were Mayan Assassins. In Black Flag, the brotherhood in the Indies seems to be nearly entirely composed of Mayans. Their headquarters is even the Maya ruins of Tulum. So, I think a scenario where Spain, whom has strong templar influences in it as seen in Black Flag, is conquering the North Yucatan. The Templars have shifted Spain's goals to finding as many First Civilization artifacts as possible. We already know the Maya possessed First Civilization artifacts as seen in Black Flag with the Mayan Armor, so the Assassin's around this period could have shown up to help defend these First Artifact.

So who would be the Assassin who starts the West Indies brotherhood? I think this would go to Gonzalo Guerrero, a shipwrecked Spaniard. He was stranded in the Yucatan around 1511 and taken as a slave. However, he eventually became a trusted advisor of a Maya King and became a general for him. He then gave birth to two children, the first Mestizo children of the Yucatan. When Hernan Cortez conquered Mexico and reached out to him, he declined. Gonzalo then went on to help the Maya as a key part in Maya resistance against the Spanish, and was eventually found dead in the 1530s after the Spanish killed him in a skirmish.

You would play as one of his children in this game, who carried on Gonzalo Guerrero's ideas and eventually founded the Assassin hideout in Tulum. The game would be based in the Ekab Kuchkabal in the northern Yucatan during the short lived Maya Eastern Alliance.

Maya North Yucatan Map, c. 1500 AD

The game would have some mechanics taken from AC Brotherhood, where you recruit Maya Assassins and go tomb raiding Maya Temples and abandoned cities, such as Chichen Itza and Mayapan, for First Civilization artifacts. Late game, your character eventually creates the Mayan Armor from Black Flag, where when the Eastern Alliance is defeated by the Spanish and the Templars, he hides the armor so the Templars can't claim it.

Anyhow, just a little thing I thought of. Shared here to see what you guys think :)

I enjoyed Syndicate a lot more than Unity

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 06:19 PM PDT

after vallhalla came out i wanted to go back to pre rpg times and saw that i completely ignored unity and syndicate and after seeing everyone praising unity i started playing it but...it just didnt click for me,

the story and characters felt dull to me it felt like they really wanted to replicate the ezio era, and i just couldnt care about the protagonist either, and after playing a side mission where i had to slowly walk with a bourgeoisie old woman and protect her from attacks for what felt like 15 minutes i just stopped and started playing Syndicate. And it never got boring for me.

The characters and the protagonists were charming the city felt more alive and interesting the story was a bit cliché but it worked, and it felt more fresh, it really didnt feel like the old ac games but in a good way, it was just different enough to spice the game up, the humorous nature of the game worked really well with the setting and frye twins were just really loveable, people say they dont like the combat but, i kinda like it too, it is fast and finishing off up to 3-4 people with flashy animations are really entertaining, the guns were a great addition, when things get messy you can just take out your gun and shoot everyone in the head or you can kill everyone stealthily but one guy and shoot the last guy with your pistol for style. You can create ziplines for air assassinations very smoothly etc.

The only thing unity is better than syndicate in my opinion is the parkour, they removed jumping in syndicate which i have no idea why and even though syndicate looks good the interiors in that game was something else, most of the house being enterable was really good too but thats all that i can think of, does anyone agree with me or if not why do you guys think unity is better? i am open for different ideas and can go back to unity again as i left it unfinished.

The Watering Down Effect by Ubisoft

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 11:45 AM PDT

Assassin's Creed, and many other Ubisoft games have as can be claimed a watering down effect. aka trying to make the game as accessible as possible by making it by no metric unique.

The issue with this effect can be highlighted in this video https://twitter.com/turuI_/status/1382505671153881089

Prequel to Masyaf Assassins? - Why did they go from "working in the dark" to public assassinations?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:29 PM PDT

I don't know if this would make for a compelling game story or maybe just a fill-in for a book or graphic novel, but I was thinking about part of the Creed. Bayek formed the "Hidden Ones", and the phrase "we work in the dark to serve the light". He also made it a point that their work was to be silent and secret. They were called the Hidden Ones for a reason.

However, something changed with the Masyaf Assassins at some point. Not sure if they became a bit cocky, but they made their assassinations public spectacles, in broad daylight, in large crowds. Granted, they used the crowds to their advantage to give mysticism to the Assassins, but still, they were no longer working in the dark.

Once Al Mualim fell and Altair assumed control, he reverted to the old ways, returning to the shadows.

I'm curious as to what led to that change, was it specifically Al Mualim that changed their ways? Or was it a predecessor?

    Just a thought.

I really like odyssey, but i really hate this whole leveling thing.

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 12:23 PM PDT

Honestly I love this game, I love the story line, the characters, everything, but I hate it where one mission is on my level, the following mission is 4-5 levels higher, I understand it's made that way so you explore more, and do more side missions, but god I cannot stand it how I have to do so many filler quests and i just give up because I get so bored.

Origins was great because there wasn't so much XP demand, but odyssey, ugh. I want to play so bad, but i load up the game and remember that I have to spend hours on side missions that are boring and pointless just for me to level up once, and repeat that over and over again until i just cannot be bothered to do the main quest after putting in so much effort.

I've recently discovered the stories mode, and been using the xp farms for a few days, it's quick, but still gives small amount of xp, but its better than doing that filler shit.

The biggest problem with black flag

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 11:40 PM PDT

I am currently playing black flag and while i am enjoying my experience with it. Holy shit there way to many follow said person and listen to them talk missions. For me tailing/eavesdropping missions are probably my least favorite. What is everyone else's?

    unity’s combat system had potential

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 02:49 AM PDT

I personally think that unity's combat was the step in the right direction for more challenging combat, people say that the combat before unity was too easy which it was, you just counter and attack. Even though we're gonna be with the current combat system for a while I reckon, I just wish we had another game with the unity combat but just a more perfected version of it ( even tho I think it was really good as it was )

Has anybody ever read the AC books by Oliver Bowden?

    Posted: 24 Apr 2021 12:02 AM PDT

I was gifted the whole set from my fiancée for Christmas last year, and just started reading through them. Finished 'the secret crusade' based on Altaïr, and halfway through renaissance. I would certainly recommend them as they have every detail from the game and describe world structures and events in great detail. They follow the assassin's life through there own eyes and thought process, and it's certainly a different perspective than the games. I almost wanted to play the first AC again because of reading the book, but I'm on PS4 and there's no way to play it.

Anyway, has anyone else ever read them, or considered doing so? Impressed or dislike them?

More Assassin's Creed novels coming from Aconyte Books (Includes a brand new trilogy in a distinct setting)

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:50 PM PDT

What can AC: Unity teach us about storytelling in games? I break down five lessons to take from Unity's narrative in "What is Bad Writing?". Looking forward to discussing what did & didn't resonate with you during your play-through.

Which 2 games would you combine to make the next one?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:13 AM PDT

Not really in terms of setting or era, but in terms of gameplay, graphics, animation, writing, environment and overall atmosphere?

Personally, a combo of Origins and Unity would be awesome. Tighter parkour graphics, keep origins' combat, a combo of the graphics and animation of both, more origins writing with a touch of unity's. I think it would be good to have a GTAV-esque map, with on main city and an equal amount of outer-city.

My choice of setting for this is pretty easy - Ancient Rome right after Caesar is killed by Aya, when the city is at tipping point in riots and civil war. Awesome opportunity for the tension that the crowds of Unity brought when they were rioting, as well as it be in an ancient city. And to stalk targets through a genuinely dense city would be a nice return to the series, especially as Rome was 9 square miles at the time, which is achievable for devs as Odyssey was 90.

Anyway, would be cool to hear what you guys would want, sorry for the morning ramble!

How do you read about the historic building in Valhalla within the game?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 09:13 AM PDT

I want to read about the historic monuments and structures build around the Viking area. I know origins had it where you can read about for example the pyramids of giza, and the older games also. How do you do it in Valhalla?

    Ac 2 armor/ac 3 quest comparison

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 04:43 PM PDT

Assassin's creed 2 has the lovely yet very annoying find the seals for altairs armor, I played 3 years ago and am going to play it when I'm done with brotherhood and revelations. Main thing I remember is not being good at finding things, so my question is was there something closely resembling the armor finding quest for 3, or something else like it?

(UNITY) Is 43192 F (10798 F per 20 minutes) maximum amount of revenue generated by Cafe Theatre?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 07:42 AM PDT

So I've been playing Unity for the last three weeks (also some Dying Light in the meantime) and early on I've dedicated all my attention to getting as much money out of Cafe because I decided to buy every single weapon and armor piece (more or less for completion or role playing). I finished all Cafe missions and renovated all social clubs but only did social clubs missions on central island where Notre Dame is located

Where/when do you think the next game will go. Why do you think so?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:17 AM PDT

I think the next game will move to Asia. The time period imo should be between Origin's and Valhalla's because there is a gap of around 1000 years between them about which we know very little. The three tenets and "Nothing is true; everything is permitted" were adopted during this time. In Valhalla we read the 'Database: The Hidden Ones' according to which Hidden Ones at that time had bureaus in England in West to India in East. This means that the next game can be in India during its Golden age. At least three Isu artifacts are confirmed in India which are an Apple, a Staff and the Koh-I-Noor. India as a setting has everything which AC needs mythology, history, mystery, dense population and most importantly ASSASSINS etc. In Sanskrit Atatayin means Assassin.

But if the game is set after Valhalla then it can be set in the Americas or the rest of Asia.

Where/when do you guys think the next game will go. Why do you think so?

How can I see my AC Origins and Odyssey screenshots?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:44 PM PDT

I remember that before Valhala released, you just logged on Ubisoft web and went to "your photos" section in either of those games and also selected the platform, but now it seems it has been removed.

Is there any way I can see them? Thanks. (I play on XBOX ONE X)

Eivor’s posture is such a huge improvement

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 08:48 AM PDT

I played Valhalla first (after playing Black Flag years ago), then went back to play Origins and Odyssey. Speaking as a woman, wth is with the dainty female running posture in Origins? I found it so annoying, and so unrealistic. In Odyssey it's an improvement with Kassandra, but I still found it unnatural and she was still obviously given a more dainty posture. Eivor though runs like a normal person and it felt right.

I've got to ask, what's the appeal for assassin's Creed: origins?

    Posted: 23 Apr 2021 03:52 PM PDT

I've played every AC game when it came out but I missed origins. It came out during a bad year for me when I took time off videogames all together and when I came back I played Valhalla. Now I've gone back to play Origins because this sub seems to love it.

I'm beyond disappointed in this game. I'm not going to go on a rant about why, I just need to ask why this sub is so hot for this game and I even see a lot of players comment about how this is one of the best in the franchise! How.

Please can ppl explain because I'd like to hear other perspectives. I won't argue or use this post as bait to push my pov, I just need to hear what's great about this game, what you all loved so much and what it has that the others don't.

Please let me know, as I said, I'm just here to read and won't disagree.

    Thank you
