    AC Marathon 2020 - Day 56

Fate of Atlantis - Episode 2: Torment of Hades - Part 1: 'Falling Into the Underworld'

Hello, Assassins! Today, we hear from Aletheia again, and eventually re-enter the portal. We pick up where Episode 1 left us, thrown down a well with Ros, only Ros is looking a little different. We then meet Hades, who is annoyed as we defeated one of his Guardians of the realm, and we're tasked to hire more. We find some unexpected help along the way.

Today's Targets: Ros (not Ros), Hades, Armor of the Fallen, The Monger

    ODYSSEY NOTES

Please note, it is strongly recommended to play on New Game Plus. It'll be easier to keep up with the fast pace of the Marathon not having to worry as much about resources, money & gear, and leveling up your character and ship.

During the Marathon, we will be playing the family story, and the First Civ story. We will not be covering the elimination of all the Cultists, only the ones as defeated during the other two story lines.

There are several continuous quests that you will need to complete on your own in order to proceed with the story. They will be noted when given. If you can, try to complete them today, as tomorrow's Episode 2, Part 2 is fairly lengthy.

If playing NG+ and have previously completed Fate of Atlantis, the 'Beyond the Veil' quest will auto-complete

Connection between AC Unity and AC Origins

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 04:10 PM PST

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but so in assassins creed Unity when Arno inducted into the Brotherhood, you drink that odd potion and go through that dream world type thing. And in the Lizards Mask quest in Assassins creed origins, Bayek is forced a drink during a ritual and sent through that trip and fights the giant snake...

What if Bayek wrote about what he went through (essentially the game) but never signed his name, so he was never credited with it...

Maybe the French brotherhood found out about the drink while reading... and decided to dig deeper and found the ingredients for the drink...

So maybe French found a way, so it doesn't go as bad as what Bayek saw... but it shows your life and stuff... Like maybe tampered with ingredients or found a sort of antidote...

It would explain why the French brotherhood does it... and where they got the idea from.

This might have been talked about already... but I just thought I'd give a little theory...

The final days leading to a new Assassins Creed game are always unbearable.

Fucken love this franchise, wasn't sold until that 7 minute deep dive actually told us what we were getting. Would recommend Vinland Saga if you want some juicy anime Vikings.

Some good thoughts and bad thoughst 6 hours in to valhalla (no spoilers)

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:33 AM PST

i have been playing valhalla for about 6 hours in the past day and a half and i wanted to share some of the things i noticed that are impvoved from odessy and somethings that are not

    the good:

-story seems to be a bigger focus and everything feels more " directed" i like it so far but obviously won't share any details. there are way less optional dialoge choices which mean eivor can show more personallity unlike cassandra/alexios

-eivor's voice is really good in my opinion, much better then alexios

-the world event mission feel more natural and encourage exploration

-combat, stealth, and exloration all have theyre own difficulty setting

-actuall stealth is a thing unlike odessy

-not as big of a focus on loot, you wont be finding new weapons every two seconds and spend minutes changing out gear, there is a bigger focus on upgrades and enhancments

    -no question marks everywhere!

    the not so good:

    - combat seems to give you more options but it still lacks impact and ompf, striking an enemy feels very light and sound is weak when you attack, but again im only 6 hours in

-starting area is bigger then odessy but so far feels a bit samey

-its still has the exact same jank odessy and origins had, fighing free running and moving through the world feel almost inentical to odessy, so if you dident like how that game felt to play this is not much different, eivor does feel a bit heavier to control

that's pretty much it, i dident read that many articles leading to the game so if some of this is already well know i apolegise. i think valhalla has really good potantial and feel more like origins then odessy (but still the size of odessy) which is a great thing for me at leas, i think youre gonna have a good time.

    Anyone Excited over Modern Day?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 11:05 PM PST

Anyone else excited over what they'll do with Layla and how they will resolve the modern day??

I'm super curious to know how they explain the gender choice for Eivor. I want to also know how Layla and this powerful staff interacts in the real world. She's basically a god at this point.

Overall I just want to know how they set up the future of the franchise. Who will be the next modern day protagonist? Who will be the next big bad? Stuff like that

Can I just say, I hope legacy outfits are easier to unlock compared to the previous games

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:08 AM PST

One thing I never liked about some of the previous games were that certain legacy outfits were a pain to unlock.

In unity, Altair's suit couldn't be unlocked until the end of the game (after the companion app was discontinued) and without new game +, you couldn't experience the campaign with it.

In odyssey, ezio's outfit was only accessible once and if you missed the window, that was it.

In origins, some suits were limited by how many assassins creed games you'd played and were attached to your Ubisoft account.

I hope with Valhalla, they're easier to unlock and early on. I always love to use Altair's suit in any of the games and I'd love to wear it in this

Give Syndicate a chance you will not regret.

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 10:28 AM PST

I know from reading a few comments/posts on this sub that it's not considered a great game but I just have it a chance and was not dissatisfied!

I had it in my Library since Epic gave it away and wanted to give it a try even if I know how it ends.

The modern day part is filled but the main parts are fun. I like the parkour, level design is awesome. London looks so immersive and I like the architecture way more than Paris. High buildings make it seem closer to a modern day AC game than ever!

Plus there is the weapons and customizations, which seem very much taken care of.

Skill upgrading is nice too and more developed than Unity.

All I'm saying, give this game a chance if you got extra money or already own it.

What combat system do you prefer, Origins/odyssey or the original combat?

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 12:46 PM PST

I personally prefer the new combat because it feels more rewarding plus once you're on a streak you dont one shot every enemy nearby.

I would enjoy a coop in assassins creed

    Posted: 05 Nov 2020 08:42 AM PST

I would really enjoy a coop mode in ac, just being able to play through the story with at least one friend would be so fun. I feel like that could be a huge upgrade and attract more buyers, this shouldnt be too hard to do since a ton of other games has that feature. Has anyone had the same thought?
