    Assassin's Creed - Memory Block 03 - 'Caged Spirits'

Welcome back, Assassins! Today we are playing the third memory block of Assassin's Creed. For today's two main targets we will be traveling to Acre and Jerusalem. Talal and Garnier de Naplouse are the latest Templars in your series of 9 targets that you must deal with. Talal is a slave trader who is keeping his victims in cages before selling them, while Garnier is performing cruel, depraved experiments on the inhabitants of his hospital. We need to eliminate these threats!

Today's Targets: Talal, Garnier de Naplouse

    DAILY OVERVIEW

    1 - Acre
Make sure that Garnier won't amputate anymore patients.
    2 - Jerusalem
Track down and eliminate Talal, so he can't sell anymore slaves.

Appearance of a famous character in Assassin's Creed Bloodstone T2 [MAJOR SPOILERS]

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 10:59 AM PDT

Remember that German website listing of Assassin’s Creed Legion that was posted a few days ago? If you go to the link you will find that they removed the listing.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 02:07 PM PDT

Edit: you can ignore this, it's officially fake

This could mean either two things:

    1) They removed the listing because it was an incorrect information (most likely)

    2) They removed it because that listing wasn't supposed to be revealed this early (least likely)

Is said this in a video I made but I always thought this listing brought too many question marks, and this update adds even more.~~

A game with Lydia Frye in WW1

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 08:20 AM PDT

The WW1 mission in syndicate is surprisingly a great setting for a game and I could see an early 1900s London game similar to the helix glitch mission working pretty good.

How many years does Odyssey span?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:52 PM PDT

I know the game starts in 431 BC but does the entire story to include the DLCs take place in 431? I seem to not be able to find this answer anywhere.

Why do Assassins have beaked hoods?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 10:34 PM PDT

I have searched all over the web in search of answers to no avail. I was wondering why the assassins adopted that specific style of hood instead of just a normal hood?

Can anyone explain the Sheathe on Altair's back?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 03:29 PM PDT

I've tried Googling this but haven't gotten any definitive answer on why Altair has a sheathe on his back when he doesn't seem to use a big knife like that. Can anyone tell me why he has that sheathe if he doesn't have a weapon for it?

Assassin's Creed 3 could've gone in a very different direction - the direction in question? The Assassins and Templars forming an alliance.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 02:15 PM PDT

    Welp, here we go.

First things first, I'm... relatively new to AC, as far as fans go. I started playing last May, or thereabouts, but I've only got four games left to go, excluding Chronicles - Unity, Liberation, Origins, and Oddessey. I'm planning on playing Unity quite soon, as well. I'm playing the games relatively out of order, but I've played most of them at some point or another.

When I was first playing the Ezio Trilogy, I loved it. AC2 was the first game I played in the series, and I was hooked from day one. Like most people, for a long time, Ezio was my favourite protagonist. However, by the time I finished the Ezio trilogy, it just seemed... boring. I still loved Ezio, it's just that the games weren't as exciting anymore. AC3 was a breath of fresh air, and I played the entire game in a week or so. However, shortly after playing it, I realised that other fans didn't like the game as much as I do. Now, looking back, I realise the potential that AC3 could've had - but, unfortunately, I think that the developers just weren't thinking far enough ahead for what I'm envisioning.

I'm not going to go into all the commonly-believed reasons why AC3 was considered bad/Connor was considered boring. I vehemently disagree with a lot of them, and if I go into it, I'll end up ranting, which isn't what I'm here to do. My opinion is on a completely different aspect of the game - a different plot route that Ubisoft could've gone down. In my opinion, the Colonial era around the time that Connor was around would be the perfect time for the Assassins and the Templars to unite, and form a greater organisation to keep humanity safe.

First, let's take a look at AC: Rogue. Why couldn't Shay have been the one to unite the two factions? He's been on both sides, after all. The answer is simple: It's just too early. The Colonial Assassins were pretty shoot-first-think-later and self-important around this time, and Shay had a bad experience. He'd never work with the Assassins again, ever. Plus, Haytham wouldn't be caught dead even thinking about forming an alliance at that time. However, Shay did play a major role in this story. He was the one to begin convincing Haytham that maybe, just maybe, Assassins aren't all bad, paving the way for Haytham and Connor's later allyship.

In AC3, the idea of an alliance starts out impossible. Connor's mother literally died after he met Charles Lee, forming a strong hatred - one that didn't even fade after Washington admitted the truth about Connor's village. On top of this, the First Civilisation forced him to leave his only home, and then, he was raised by Achilles, who forced ideas into him that later contributed to unnecessary deaths. However, later on, the idea of the two groups merging becomes more possible. Haytham actively tries to form a friendship with Connor, and whilst it's unknown if this was simply Haytham's idea of a recruitment campaign, it is possible that Haytham was considering offering an alliance.

Think about it: Whilst the Colonial Assassins have good intentions, their methods hurt a lot of people. The Colonial Templars, however, are led by Haytham, who was raised by an Assassin for his early childhood, and presumably has a strong moral compass. Unlike later games, neither Connor nor Haytham want any power in particular - they just want peace, and Connor was told that eradicating the Templars was the only way to do it. Unlike earlier games, Connor was willing to listen to what Haytham had to say. If the two sides had managed to form an alliance, and balance their ideas of free will and order, then they could have been a force to reckon with - an invisible shining light, guiding humanity on a path to good.

However, this was never meant to be, for many reasons. Firstly, in-game, Achilles just wouldn't stop. He kept on pushing and pushing Connor until he finally snapped and killed Haytham. Connor was never forced to kill Haytham, not even in self-defense - his qualm was with Charles Lee, not anybody else. He could've let Haytham go, or ran away himself. However, Connor chose to kill Haytham. IRL, it's likely that the developers just didn't think that far ahead - they could've have fortold the power-hungry route that they'd decide to go down with the Templars, or the plot of AC: Rogue. That was just too far in the future. Finally, it probably would have all but annihilated the modern-day ideas, unless the Assassins and the Templars split again further down the line - which could've been a game in of itself! All in all, it was the perfect opportunity for an interesting plot decision, but it simply wasn't a good idea, or even a possible idea at the time.

Feel free to challenge/debate my ideas! I understand that this is probably quite a new/controversial idea, so I'm perfectly willing to defend my arguments, patch up any holes, and generally perform maintenance on my ideas. I'm very excited to hear what everybody has to say! Have a great day! :)

If the next game is a Viking setting, you should play as a proto-Templar, not an assassin.

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 09:15 PM PDT

Vikings were a very specific occupation, which isn't exactly the right word but the only one I can think of right now, within broader Norse culture.

They were hit and run raiders that attacked almost exclusively 'soft targets' (monasteries, churches etc) and fled before resistance could be organized. They didn't just take gold and silver and church artifacts. They took humans too. Vikings were some of the biggest slavers in Europe at the time.

The Ui Imair dynasty, a royal family of Norse origin who married extensively into Gaelic Irish royal families, made their fortune from slavery and were the rulers and founders of Dublin: at the time period Dublin was one of the largest slave market cities in all of Europe.

There's even a historical Irish princess that was kidnapped, enslaved, and sold to a Norse traveler who married her, took her to Iceland, and birthed a son who later became a notorious traveler/trader.

Do church pillaging slave masters and drivers really strike you as particularly Assassin Brotherhood material?

Even the non-Viking parts of Norse society, like the proper armies, were off invading kingdoms unprovoked. (Mercia, East Anglia, Wessex etc all did nothing to provoke the Great Heathen Army. It was only Northumbria that had a hand in the semi-mythical Ragnar Lothbrok death.)

What's the point of having a viking game if you can't be a viking?

I think a proto-Templar could work but Assassin? I'd really hate to have a viking game where I can't be a vicious control-oriented warlord or a maritime thug hitting monasteries.

I'm not saying all of Norse society was evil or bad, they certainly weren't any worse than anyone else in the grand scheme of things, but I feel like they'd fit a sort of morally grey Templar type guy a lot more than an Assassin. What'd be even crazier is playing a Cult of Isu type guy but you'd be basically straight up evil in that case.

No Hunted or Shadow Heritage DLC quest markers?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 10:31 PM PDT

I cannot find quest marker for shadow heritage dlc. How do I start it? I am on new game+, completed the main story and at level 86. I have completed all the main content except for Arena. I am on PC, and have season pass. My in store menu says "shadow heritage" "hunted" installed with everything else.

I can see the quest markers for "legacy of first blade" and "fate of Atlantis" , but none of episode 1 and 2. What do I do?

Golden helmet icon when hunted by Mercs in Odyssey?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 07:50 PM PDT

I tried googling it but didn't come up with any useful information, when hunted by a mercenary, you get the normal red helmet icon, but what does it mean when they have a separate golden helmet icon under that?

Would you like to see gender selection implemented in the next game?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 03:31 PM PDT

As we all know, Assassin's Creed Odyssey was the first game in the series were you could really choose the gender of the main character (Syndicate was sorta first, but doesn't really count). Though neat, the feature didn't really add anything to the game and hardly changed any dialogue or how people percieved and treated Alexios or Kassandra.

I personally feel that it was a waste of development time and resources to hire 2 VAs to voice essentially the same character with all the same lines in a series that isn't even much of an RPG to begin with. Seeing as how Alexios isn't even the canon character (even though he's my favorite), they should have just made Kassandra the only option.

I would prefer this whole concept to be completely dropped in all future titles. That being said, I've never really heard anyone else's personal opinions regarding the matter and I'm curious to hear what you all think.

[Spoilers] In AC Odyssey is it possible to spare the Wolf and his son, but ensure that aren't in your ending?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 08:14 PM PDT

I know there might be a way via disgracing stentor and obviously sparing the wolf but I'm not exactly sure how. I vaguely remember that there is a scene later on with the wolf where you can essentially tell him to fuck off and not help his son and iirc that's how it you can keep both alive but to not end up in your ending

Could someone highlight the steps/dialogue actions I need to take to get this outcome? I essentially just want Kassandra, Deimos and Myrinne for the ending

I hope Ashraf will make a masterpiece once again

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 01:21 AM PDT

Although I haven't played Origins, I did hear very good things from people who have. played Black flag around a year ago (yes I am always late to the party) and i fucking loved it. The story, narrative, character development etc. Was magnificent. Yeah the combat system was a little wack but I was willing to turn a blind eye.

Since we're pretty much sure the new game is on Ashraf's team I think it's gonna rock, I do have to say I don't like the idea of a RPG assassin's creed but I did pretty much love skyrim and I'm currently enjoying God of war so I'd like to give then new game a chance and I hope the story will be as good as BF.

Ps: do you think it will be available in PS4 cuz I don't think I'll buy a console for a AC game

Does New Game + Erase DLC progress?

[Odyssey] how do you guys go through progression?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2019 05:18 AM PDT

Odyssey is my first AC game which is weird, I know, but I I have gotten to the point of the main story where I am going to Athens, 23% through, i don't even meet the reccomended level. I do alot of exploring and complete locations but don't do any side quests. My plan was to blast through the main story, then 100% the game. But as I read about other players experiences as it's taking them a ton of hours to complete it, I feel I'm going too fast. How did u guys complete the game. I don't play many RPGs

I have been hearing a lot of beef in the assassin's creed community about wich game is better, origins, or odyssey.

Objectively speaking, knowing both are good games and both have their strengths and weaknesses, wich one do you think is better ,and why is that ?
