One of my favorite details in Valhalla (tiny spoiler)

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:05 PM PST

After you get to England and build the Hidden Ones Bureau, Hytham will take you to show you the Leap of Faith trick. After he jumps off and you follow him, if you stay inside of the straw pile Hytham starts freaking out. He'll call your name a few times before saying things like, "This is not how I saw this going at all" and "Basim is going to kill me" I love details like this.

Ubisoft I have half my face burned and I'm not complaining.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 09:12 AM PST

60% of my left face was burned in a house fire nine years ago.

However, I don't feel traumatized by being reminded that I'm disfigured. I even feel better when I see it being represented in the media, makes me feel real and creates awareness.

Listen to real victims and not some random dweeb.

    Male Eivor > Female Eivor

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 10:56 PM PST

Speaking as someone who plays as a female whenever they can, as someone who knows Eivor is a female name, I gotta fold my chips when I see 'em: male Eivor's VA is superior to the female version, to the point I abandoned a 6 hour campaign as female Eivor to restart as the male one (I also know you can switch midstream, but I prefer narrative consistency).

Your mileage may vary. But, that's my personal opinion.

I'm absolutely stunned by AC Valhalla's recreation of medieval England

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 03:15 PM PST

I've been playing Valhalla for 18 hours now and I'm absolutely amazed by the sheer amount of work the devs have put into their recreation of medieval England, especially the southern half.

I mean, the map is huge, and by huge i mean HUGE, and yet it all feels really detailed and authentic. The small villages, the churces, the green hills, the farmlands and cobblestone walls. It's all just insanely British and I love it.

And I love the distance they put between points of interest. Everything feels much more stretched out in comparison to Odyssey, thus creating a more realistic atmosphere.

On top of this all, about 90 percent of the buildings are accessible, which is crazy.

Anyway, as a fan of huge open worlds I really wanted to aknowledge the work that has been put into this game by the devs, 'cause its seems like i'm only seeing complaints on this sub.

Let me know your favourite places and areas on the map btw, I will def pay them a visit.

Finally and AC game that's not a repetitive side quest mess!

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 08:08 PM PST

Is it just me, or do we finally have an Assassin's Creed game that's not riddled with lame repetitive side quests!? I'm super impressed with how creative and unique each "mystery" is.

I wish you could stealth into a town and steal the wealth instead of forcing you to raid.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:44 PM PST

I clear out an entire city on my own, but I can't open the chests because I'm forced to raid and wait for my guys to show up. Just let us open the chests if there are no guards left and it's un raided.

I wish Gear Visual Customization was in Valhalla

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 03:43 PM PST

One of the best additions to Assassin's Creed was gear visual customization in Odyssey. Valhalla lets you fantastically customize Eivor with tattoos and hairstyles, but not which gear you visually wear. Eivor can be visually perfect for each and every one of us if Ubisoft were to add this option into Valhalla.

Let’s get some love for Orlog going! Love this side dice game.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 11:17 AM PST

Seriously love this side game. Typically don't care for them much in RPGs but this one seems like the perfect amount of simplicity and strategy.

After playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla for 30+ hours , I understand why CDPR moves the release dates.

    Posted: 14 Nov 2020 01:08 AM PST

I'm enjoying Valhalla immensely , but the constant stream of bugs , glitches and crashes makes we want to delete this game and never play it again.

I now fully support CDPR in their decisions to polish Cyberpunk 2077 as much as possible.

This post is more of vent for me than anything.

To clarify : Why do people think that i complain about petite bugs ? My Valhalla crashed several times within two hours and some quests are inaccessible to me.

I noticed something about the side quests in Valhalla

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 08:26 PM PST

I feel as though the side quests being trimmed down the way they have been has been a real boon for the game... I dont feel as though it's a tedious slog to level up... mind you though I'm only conquering my second territory of the game but still.

The side content all feels as though they're tales you'd share around the fire in the Longhouse after a long day of pillaging... realistically I feel as though it's fantastic... just thinking about Eivor sitting around drinking mead and telling all of his mates about some lady who wanted viper eggs to let some hardcore farts out is just too amusing to me.

Obviously conquest comes first, but these feel like a genuinely fun diversion for me for that roleplaying reason alone.

Combat is starting to feel a bit better

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 04:46 PM PST

I've seen a lot of posts regarding the clunkiness in combat and I was right there with you. But after spending time to get abilities that suit my playstyle, getting used to the lock on system, and blocking and parrying, I am starting to love it more than odyssey. Catching a flying spear midair and throwing it back? That's badass, cmon. Picking up a lying weapon and throwing it on an enemy that just wants to go home is insanely satisfying. They have a lot to work on, especially on their hit box but Idk if I'm the only one that feels this way about combat. Seeing a lot of people not enjoying but I have to ask how far they've gotten in their tree. Also, play this on hardest difficulty. It's the only way to enjoy combat a bit more, don't be a Skill-Up.

The "revamped" combat in Valhalla is not very different from what we had in the previous two titles.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 02:14 PM PST

I've played ONLY 6hrs of the game so far and this is what the combat seems like to me:

Might get downvoted to shit for saying this but I think it has to be put out there. They said the combat was supposed to feel more weighty and it simply does not. It's essentially the same combat with a finisher animation re-skin. Yeah it has it's moments and sometimes it really does look fucking cool. But half the times I'm chopping someone's arm/leg/head off and it's not satisfying or grounding at all. Because the camera is just a 1000 miles away and the animation to chop the thing off was just a random hack with my axe.

With that being said, I don't particularly hate it. I like that they added the little animation that shows why you're not being able to one shot assassinate your targets of higher abilities (Haven't gotten the Advanced skill yet). I like that there's a stamina system and you can't just prance around like a little child in the middle of the battlefield. There are a lot of aspects that I love about the combat but it's essentially the same as before with different animations. Maybe I expected a Unity style combat system or maybe I just expected stuff the current engine is not equipped to do, but I was a little disappointed with it

I'd like to hear your thoughts about it honestly, maybe I could get to see a different perspective. Cheers!

Feature Request: Ability to hide Cloak and keep it hidden after putting it on and taking it off again.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 10:26 AM PST

I love the fact that Ubisoft is letting us hide various pieces of equipment, including the shield, bow, and cloak.

One issue I found with the cloak is that it can be hidden and it does not show on your character (as intended), but once you put the cloak on from your player wheel (or by entering a distrust area), when taking the cloak off again it is no longer hidden.

Other items, like the bow or the shield, when hidden, once you use them and put them away, they disappear as they should, since they are hidden.

It would be great to have the cloak offer this same functionality.

Game looks phenomenal unless theres no light source

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 07:39 PM PST

Does anyone else's game looks absolutely amazing when theres a light source (like rays from the sun, the moon etc) but very flat and a bit dated when there isn't ? For instance in the early morning and before sunset. The contract between the two is a bit jarring on my end and I was wondering if it the same for others

Ubisoft needs to just make a new fantasy rpg IP

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 06:29 PM PST

Clearly they aren't content with the restrictions the AC world places on them when it comes to lore and gameplay.

Most all of the Isu stuff works with the explanation that it is just hyper-advanced technology from a civilization with a dramatic flair, but so much other stuff is so magical that it takes you right out of the game. Senu was honestly already a bridge too far, but Odyssey and Valhalla continue to take it even further.

To be clear I enjoy the new additions, the series was getting stale and directionless before Origins, and the new elements have breathed life into the series; but it also feels like it is fighting itself. Maybe a new IP is too drastic but they should at least retcon a higher degree of mystic and magical elements into the series so that they aren't constantly butting up against the restriction of the setting.

Maybe say that events in the present have somehow changed what happened in the past leading the Isu to create a field of nanobots in the atmosphere that sometimes augments animals into more fantasy-like creatures or allows people with strong Isu genes to access the field to perform feats similar to magic.

They have already played with the future affecting the past so it wouldn't even be that much a stretch. I just feel like right now they shoehorn in magical elements anyway, then clumsily explain it as a hallucination or what have you.

For those interested in the mythology of AC Valhalla, I highly suggest "Norse Mythology" written by Neil Gaiman

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 02:26 PM PST

It is a short book written as a series of highly researched Norse mythological stories in a novel-like timeline. It really helps for understanding the gods, stories, and lots of Norse cultural elements.

I am also getting the itch to read more Norse stories so if you have any suggestions, I would love to hear

What’s up with the hate for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla ?

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 08:41 PM PST

So I know this is very subjective but I don't understand honestly when people say this game is tedious and boring , I mean you have your insta kill back with the hidden blade and honestly , you don't have those lots of assassin contracts or tailing missions . Many people think that these Ac's are recycled but what about the precious games where there were just 2 activities for you to do and one of them were the assassin contacts. Plundering ships were also repetitive but people complain about raids all the time. The only complain right now I have the game is the amount of bugs. I am loving the story and the mystery of hidden ones and the order of the ancients so far.

Eivor is the most 'human' protagonist in the series.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 05:53 AM PST

Maybe just after the cardboard protagonist of Odyssey I'm exaggerating but Eivor actually has a personality that he injects into the story and it feels like a breath of fresh air. I'd say the top 3 are Ezio, Edward and Eivor.

Part of me wishes that the Pirates Republic in Nassau actually succeeded.

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 12:49 PM PST

Playing Assassin's Creed IV, I fell for this group of pirates, and I thought that it was Noble of them to try and create a "Free Country".

This was an aim of one of the most Iconic Pirates ever, Blackbeard. Honestly gives me a better view of the man than most other pirate media.

Historically, It was doomed to fail, and since the game adheres to real history, well... Woodes Rogers had to arrive on that Island some day.

If it actually succeeded, how would history have changed?

I really LOVE how you can adjust your own power level to make yourself under-leveled

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 01:03 PM PST

As it is usual with every AC game, I LOVE exploration and I don't go to the next region until I have 100% done every single sidequest and treasure in the region I'm currently in.

As expected, that leads to my character gaining so much exp to the point that combat becomes a joke (happened to me in Odyssey). Luckily with Valhalla, you can choose not to spend your skill points and to manually reset skill points to reduce your power level.

Currently, I'm in a Level 90 area at level 80 and I'm sitting at 100+ unused skill points. The game feels REALLY challenging and I'm loving raiding skull-level monasteries.

This makes me wish for a Roman Empire era ac

    Posted: 13 Nov 2020 06:01 AM PST

Thinking about odyssey and valhalla made me wish for an ac game that took place in the Roman era. I even had the idea of how the story could involve the invasion of the germanic tribes, where the player would take the roll of a germanic mercenary fighting in one of the many cohorts of the legion, effectively fighting against his/her own people. We as the player would have to choose to either support the Romans, or to help our kinsmen fight back. There's plenty of options for ambushes and large scale battles. What do you think?
