Thing I hate the most about AC:Odyssey - no Greek

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 06:02 AM PST

AC:Odyssey is one of the most beautiful games ever created and it has the most beautiful and best renditions of Greece in any video game, a gigantic map with as much as you could want to explore, forests, bustling ancient towns, ruins,, it's history, culture, music, npc's that speak Greek and it has a bunch of languages not just for the subtitles and menu, but also for audio as well, including Brazilian variant of Portugese for the audio and Arabic, Czech and Dutch for subtitles and menu's.

However, what it doesn't have is....Greek. A giant triple A game about Greece, with who knows how many npc's saying things in Greek in the game, yet, it's not offered even as a language for the menu, let alone the audio, like the Brazilian Portugese is. For someone who loves Greece, this game is one of the biggest motivations to learn Greek, yet even though there could have been Greek audio added, which would perfectly fit into the game and give you the full immersion, you don't get that, but you get Czech, Portuguese and Dutch, because why not? Even from a purely commercial standpoint, there's more Greek people in the world, than Czechs, so it doesn't make much sense in that way either.

I'd gladly even pay more for a Greek language pack, but there's none.

Were the Isu not a space faring civilization?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 06:37 PM PST

For such a high technology society, it doesn't seem like the Isu did much beyond the planet's surface. Am I missing something? I'd think they'd at least have been able to colonize the solar system, though that wouldn't have saved them. What do you all think?

I wish there would be some kind of warning that the event you're about to do is way over your power level

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:07 PM PST

Currently exploring East Anglia and discovered the hard way that certain events in the world (Daughters of Lerion and Lost Drengir) are for power levels much higher than that of the county. I wish the game would give you some kind of heads up or something that this is endgame content instead of letting you die in one hit to an enemy 3x as powerful as you after interacting with an item

    I appreciate Valhalla's one-hit kill mode.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 04:50 AM PST

Few hours into Valhalla, and as soon as I went into the gameplay settings and noticed this I immediately turned it on. I know many think it's cheese, but for those of us who long for the days of the old trusty hidden blade that could take out anyone and everyone from stealth, it's a much-appreciated feature. Thank you, Ubi.

(SPOILERS) I would like to talk about the ending of Valhalla.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 05:54 PM PST

So I just beat Valhalla last night and I'm pretty torn on how to feel. I'm not a die hard fan of the series (haven't played an AC game since Black Flag) but i do very much enjoy it. They are generally just really long and i need a few years break between them.

Anyway, I have no complaints about the rpg format most people get upset about and I've come to live with the fact that Ubi's engine is a buggy mess and that will probably never change. I'm upset that the end of the game could have hit so much harder and been executed so much better with a few minor tweaks. I adored the story here and happily would have watched this entire game if it was a tv show or something, i was hardcore invested. How could you not be after 100+ hours...

A few shires I could have done without but all and all I was so excited to figure out what was going to happen next. Anyway Basim shows up out of nowhere and hits you with the old plot twist, you fight, you go back home, you give an emotional speech, the homies all start banging their chest, "FOR THOSE WHO FIGHT FOR THOSE WHO FALL" intesifies cut to black. My goosebumps were raging after this scene i was filled with this fiery fucking viking pride and this wave of "hell yeah i beat it" attitude...

then i'm standing in my empty longhouse and i gotta do some order of the ancients quest...oh okay theres more...cool...go do that, cutscene with Alfread...guy we barely know...okay i guess that was kinda neat whatever...so is that it then?

Oh i have to do this wedding now. Oh ok. Okay wedding's over umm...guess I stop playing now? Alright...

Here's the thing. I don't want to express any hate here. I can see that a lot of work and love has gone into this game and inspiration has been taken from some of the greats (witcher, BOTW, etc.) I have zero game dev experience and am not trying to backseat dev but I think critique is fair. All i would have done differently is, after that scene where you speak as the Jarl for the first time, have it cut to black, "AC Valhalla" hits the screen, then roll credits. Give me some time to sit in this euphoric state after i just witnessed my boy/girl conquer England, become Jarl, and inspire my people. It was just such a beautiful ending immediately cut short to go do some way dumber shit lol. Just have it officially end there and then when you reload the game you can do the wedding and the ancients stuff as like a nice bonus treat but the way it ends currently left me thinking something even MORE spectacular awaited me but no. Just Gunnar and his mud speech wife.

Sorry this is so long winded but i did really love this game so much and like most great tv shows they fucked up the ending IMO. Thanks for reading Hidden Ones.

    AC2 encourages more than murder

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 01:34 AM PST

As im trying to 100% AC2 I realise that virtually every side thing is a crime, and not just murdering strangers. I was doing the Assassin Seals and realised that I have not only disturbed the graves of 5 different people, but I'm also grave robbing what is maybe their greatest treasure(?). The treasures are just me stealing from random people, not even necessarily the government. Even if it is all the government's people, that means I stole 71 chests full of money and jewels from Lorenzo de Medici, my own friend behind his back. The assassination's are obvious, I'm murdering people I don't know because they have some ties with a rival gang. Half the people you assassinate don't have anything to do qith the Templars other than '10 guards are guardibg a friend of a Templar, kill them all' or 'this merchant sold shawarma to a Templar, kill him.' The viewpoints have you tresspass every major landmark in Italy, like some bucket list of tresspassing to climb 73 random buildings that are either privately owned or are open to the public. The beat ups is just... assault. You're just assaulting people who cheated on their wives, which is still very illegal. Races, feathers and couriers have the same problem as viewpoints where youre just tresspassing and climbing shit.

So no, Ezio is not a justified hero set on revenge, he's a repeat offender and a menace to society in more than just murder.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze, convicted on five charges of assault, thirty counts of second-degree murder, twelve counts of conspiracy to commit murder, eleven counts of first-degree murder, three-hundred thirty counts of theft and robbery, one-hundred eight four counts of tresspassing, six counts of grave robbery and one count of being too cool for school.

Oh nevermind guys he has the Medici cape

Cairns: the most frustrating moment in my personal gaming history

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 05:47 AM PST

I had to literally walk away from the game after spending about an hour trying to put together the Eurviscire cairn.

There is no damn way these things were tested prior to release for any kind of fun factor. In fact, I'm having a hard time picturing the meeting where these diabolical jokes were pitched and several people agreeing to put them in the game. I'm not convinced there isn't a secret stat for time spent on a single cairn that is monitored by some Ubisoft employee just to bring a smile to his face.

The real victims here, though, are not the players. It's the minigame developers' high school physics teachers getting their faces spat upon in such an immortalized format.

Fuck cairns. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Do you think we’ll ever seen densely designed cities again?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 09:52 PM PST

Do you think we'll ever seen densely detailed & packed cities like London & Paris again? Or do you think the new format of the games won't allow for this? It seems the more RPG style fits the more open wilderness areas. I miss the feeling & atmosphere that the streets of London, Paris or even Florence had.

Are there any plans for Ubisoft to add the option to use whatever gear piece’s cosmetics you want?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 08:17 PM PST

In Odyssey I remember Ubisoft added an update down the road that allowed you to wear whichever armor you wanted for stats, but "cover" it with an armor piece of your choice.

Say I have a fully upgraded legendary set that I don't care for visually, and I preferred the look of the Raven Clan Armor set. At the current moment, I either am stuck wearing armor that is visually displeasing to me or take a massive hit to my stats and wear the Raven Clan armor. This set up also doesn't allow you to mix and match your gear pieces without missing out on the full set bonuses.

Is there any plan to change this? I am on PC as well, is there a known way to get around this with cheats or mods?

On a side note, it would also be cool to be able to have my hood up without the cloak furling out behind me. Like, I wish I could keep the hood up but have the cloak stay in the same position it is when the hood is down.

The game is f*cking sweet in every way shape and form. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since Brotherhood first came out! I just feel like between Odyssey and Valhalla the game took a major step back in customization options.

Anyone else bothered by super insignificant details like this?

    Possible Spoiler!!! Treasures of Britain

I'm gonna be as nondescript as possible to prevent spoilers. But I'm pretty sure there are just 11 treasures of Britain with three being from zealots. But there are 12 pillars in the place you go to use the treasures. So where's the twelfth treasure?

Dreng difficulty bosses, am I noob

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 06:26 PM PST

Idk, guys... Started game with dreng, 30 min to adapt to physics and controls. Regular enemies are easy 1 v 1, but when they are in a group can do some dmg. Minibosses becoming easier and easier but its not boring they still surprise me. BUT WTF IS WRONG WITH NON MAIN STORY CHARACTERS (animals, sisters, orden warriors) they just obliterate me. First try was on sister im lvl 80. 4 hours spent, closest was 1/3 white bar HP. Now I'm lvl 108 same happened. I'm talking about gretebrend... sister, when she reaches 2 stage of power saying "now I go srsly" she does 3 red attack combo and leaves me with 0 stamina. Btw I'm playing with skill that allowes to have 2 two-handed weapons. I use 2hndd gold axe from ledechester and shield. Mb thats the problem

[Spoilers] AC: Valhalla and its Villain's Motivation

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:31 AM PST

So I've reached the point in the storyline where we use Valka's potion to reach Asgard. And I just finished turning Loki's son into a rug for the front room. I've also read/watched spoilers so I'm aware of all what happens even though I've not personally played it yet.

Couldn't all of Havi and Loki's discourse had been avoided, including having Layla trapped if Loki had merely revealed he had a son?

This is referring I guess to Eivor's memories of it all which are a blend of Odin's genetic memory and their own mythological views mixed together. So we don't really know what specifically happened with the Isu Odin and Loki other than their rivalry cause both to lose their sons and for Loki to go on to seek revenge on any future incarnations of Odin?

And this was all due to Havi/Odin's sheer paranoia, not knowing everything despite being known as the All-Father. His thirst for knowledge was enough to make him a tragic character, pretty common in most mythologies I guess. Fear of mortality/prophecy ends up creating the very situation that was foretold as their downfall.

I dunno, it's just like. Y'all surely have common sense and you couldn't just talk it out? Loki being the Master Trickster doesn't help. I just find it a little irritating the downfall of the Nordic Isu (besides the Great Catastrophe) was due to paranoia, lying, and just not being able to talk things out? I feel like there could've been some a little stronger for their downfall, but then again they weren't really human to the point of having humanity. Comes again the tragic hero literary trope.

Is it possible to assassinate order members early? (Valhalla)

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:22 PM PST

No spoilers, please. I've found 5/6 clues for The Lyre and given the information I have now it would seem realistic to find him without the last clue, but I have not been able to. Is this possible at all for The Lyre, or any other order member? I remember in Odyssey it was possible to randomly find them out and about and I've even accidentally killed them by chance, which I always found really cool. Is this at all possible in Valhalla?

AC Valhalla || Where is the cattle farm?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 05:33 PM PST

Does anyone know where the cattle farm should be? I've searched everywhere in my settlement and can't seem to find it. I have a suspicion that the Yule event had caused a bug preventing it from appearing, or at least appearing where it should. Any help would be most appreciated.

Things I like about my least favourite AC. Assassins Creed Odyssey. This will feature no bad things about it, I won't moan about it but will say my favourite games.

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 11:57 AM PST

    No particular order

The soundtrack: you hear the amazing work as soon as you play the game and continues going throughout, the way they made it sound like it was Greek was amazing. The main theme especially though, it isn't as good as Valhalla but it is still great.

Graphics/assets: absolutely stunning, doesn't look plastered or painted on, amazing normal mapping and mainly though, they really had amazing roughness into it, which i must say looks like i could actually feel it. The assets of misc environment objects are brilliant and I would say that they even beat a lot of other AC games minor assets such as statues.

Audio quality: the QUALITY of the audio is great, it sounds better than valhallas, sounds clear and concise a majority of the time, on par with origins for this.

UX: Its no secret valhalla has had some awful UX, however in this game the devs actually strove to give players things they wanted post release. These include but aren't limited to:

    Transmog

    Loadouts

    New free armours

    Level creator

The Cultist system: despite being overpopulated with barely any story to it, this may be the best part of the game, it gives the most assassin feel in the game when doing this and was the reason of the amazing order system in valhalla which I adore.

Mercenary system: not perfect but definitely for the broad scope of this game it worked well, does it beat valhallas and origins? Definitely not. Do I like it? More than most features of the game.

Skill tree: the way the skill tree works in the way that it didn't have the awful passive skills like valhalla and introduced (no matter how stupid they were for lore reasons) abilities, which valhalla vastly improved on.

    And thats it.

This is what I liked about this game and yes it lives rent free in my head... and it is sad that it does, but I don't like this gane but it would be dumb to hate everything about a game, its near impossible, every game has good parts to it. Maybe not ride to hell though... maybe

I just replay the two first parts of the Ezio trilogy with a single goal in mind: to refresh it for me since I will attempt to play the Brotherhood of Venice boardgame as a RPG. I feel like this boardgame is not talked about enough and I can't wait to have it. All the very immersive Italian experience in AC, but now with miniatures and etc. So, is anyone else in this sub looking forward to it? If not, why do you replay AC games? What do you look for the most?

[SPOILER] is not evil in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 10:59 AM PST

Judging off of the ending of Valhalla and finding out Basim has been taken over by Loki and wants to kill Eivor and Sigurd, it makes sense to think that he's meant to be a villain, making the modern day ending crazy knowing that he's the new protagonist. But let's look at it from a different perspective.

Loki, whilst being a prankster, wasn't really evil. He was friends with Odin, Tyr, Freya and Thor. He was also the father of Fenrir. Odin hated Fenrir and killed him, which had no real valid reason. This is more than enough for Loki to hate Odin, but also the fact that everyone was still good with Odin makes Lokis hate even more understandable. He was betrayed by all of his friends and wants revenge.

When Loki took over Basim, he only saw Eivor as Odin and no one else, it only makes sense that he wants vengeance for his son. He isn't evil, he just loved his son and hated betrayal. Lokis actions can be justified from this. I don't think Basim/Loki is evil, just an antagonist to Eivor. I'm excited to see how he is in the next game, maybe we'll even see a mental battle between Loki and Basim.

Also side note, this may be completely impossible but might as well throw it in. Fenrir is known for swallowing a sun. Desmond absorbed a solar flare. Is there any link here?

Enemies are too weak even at the highest difficulty. (Valhalla)

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 02:52 PM PST

Am I the only one who think this? In beginning of the game it was hard because you had nothing powerful but after you upgrade some items ,finding your playstyle, getting some useful abilites its so easy to kill anything, nothing is a challenging I even play sometimes without runes in my armor to make it harder.
