Posted: 17 Sep 2020 11:40 PM PDT I want to start by saying that I loved both games and I invested a great amount of time in Odyssey. However, I couldn't help but notice that there were some things in Origins that were missing from Odyssey, or were more polished in Origins. Things that Origins did better: - Animus loading screen - Animus death cutscenes - Established and fleshed out protagonist - Smaller and more lively world that in most parts didn't feel vast and shallow, something that could've helped Odyssey tremendously in my opinion - Less grinding, areas that although have the same objectives feel less copy-pasted - Better story (what was the main purpose of Alexios/Kassandra? Find their family? Seal Atlantis? End the cult of Kosmos?) - Fire animation and other small details, like underwater breathing, dust when climbing rocks etc. - Better DLCs (story wise) felt like money well spend - Villains and antagonists with a visible character (individuality), cultist in odyssey were just simple NPCs in forts/temples that you had to assassinate - Origins stayed true to the franchise's genre with some RPG elements that felt natural (Odyssey had an identity crisis as a game. Is it RPG, is it action adventure, is it stealth?) - Story didn't go too far (Odyssey's dangerously messing with most of the franchise's direction and story/plot) - Dialogue was ok, nothing special, nothing particularly bad (Odyssey writing suffered from forced humour, basic writing and too much malaka and I'm greek) - Aya was a good romance partner (there were a lot of unnecessary romance options in Odyssey, probably to stay true to the "write your own story" concept) - In Odyssey choices didn't really affect the world that much (illusion of choice), because the story is already destined to go a certain way, I kinda liked the one way approach in Origins where I didn't have to save every now and then in case I made the wrong choice which at the end didn't really matter What Odyssey did right/improved: - Soundtrack - World/Historical sights/Colour palette - Gameplay, fighting and character movement felt way smoother - Cultist system, although it could do with less cultists so that they can have a bit of a backstory - Ikaros/Eagle, far better into spotting the objectives/enemies in an area - Introduction to the game was done beautifully, Kephalonia and Megaris introduced every aspect of the game throughout quests - I know I'm contradicting here but the choice system was a nice addition in certain quests/points - Material/Resources gathering was never a problem - Male/Female choice was a nice addition - Mercenary bounty system was a great way to put boundaries on your not so stealthy approaches in some cases Lastly, some minor parts that I think Odyssey did justice but most people don't: - accent/acting is great (most modern day greeks talk with exactly the same accent) - Alexios voice actor did great - Cities are great looking, not empty and are quite different (yes there are copy-pasted building but I think the vast world kinda demands it) In conclusion, I feel like Odyssey's developers did try to add so many new things into the game that everything kinda felt a bit basic/shallow. I still like the game though, but I can see why some didn't and the missed opportunities and potential that could've made it better for everybody. [link] [comments]

honestly this is the scariest part of AC series for me so far (AC3) Posted: 17 Sep 2020 03:50 PM PDT https://i.imgur.com/Q0dHjVQ.jpg any other climbing thing you're in the Animus and can't "die", but this real life bit actually made me scared of the height (I'm working through the AC series and just finished AC3) [link] [comments]

Posted: 17 Sep 2020 06:59 PM PDT I'll admit that I've never played an Assassin's Creed game outside the Ezio story but now that I finished getting platinum for all three games, I'll be starting on Black Flag. I've been wanting to get into the series more outside the Ezio games so I'm excited to start playing more [link] [comments]

What, in your opinion, is the most annoying NPC type you have encountered in the series? Posted: 17 Sep 2020 05:18 PM PDT Personally I'm tied between the drunks/mental patients in AC1 and the orphans in AC3. The former were a hindrance when trying to blend or navigate close to water, and the latter you couldn't make go away. [link] [comments]
Climbing aboard a boat without boarding Posted: 17 Sep 2020 07:07 PM PDT So I jumped from the jackdaw and swam into the middle of a battle to board a ship. I managed to climb aboard and kill everyone and I have no idea how to proceed. Did Ubisoft not take this scenario into account? [link] [comments]
Is flickering shadows just a Ubisoft thing? Posted: 17 Sep 2020 11:58 PM PDT I figured they'd improve them but throughout the series so far (I just started black flag) my eyes hurt from the flickering and moving shadows while I run, especially under trees. Brotherhood was the worst at this too. Is there any way to fix this or lessen the shadows more than low? All my settings are already on low [link] [comments]
[Persuasion] Why is Odyssey a good game coming off the back of origins? Posted: 17 Sep 2020 10:29 PM PDT As the title says I've seen mixed reviews for the game some saying it's the best game ever and others quite the opposite. I just finished origins and for the most part it was amazing. I loved the DLC's, characters and finding the best possible gear with the highest traits (Probably my favourite bit, lol) I've already brought odyssey gold edition for £30 and even without the full game it's worth it simply for AC3 remastered which I've never played. However, I'm simply on the fence about whether it'll be another great playthrough and needing some persuasion? Story isn't huge for me and I'm more looking forward to the Gods like Medusa etc because I love Greek mythology and plus I've heard you can romance everything damn near to a tree in the game too so I guess running around as a murderous lesbian demigod might just beat origins haha. Assassins' Creed: Valhalla Physical Map Posted: 17 Sep 2020 01:03 PM PDT Does Assassins' Creed: Valhalla have an edition with a physical copy of the game's map like Odyssey's Omega Edition and Origin's Deluxe Edition? It really sucks if there's none, I'm a fan of collecting maps and I can't seem to find one edition in Valhalla that has it. [link] [comments]

What's the soundtrack used in AC2 E3 trailer? Posted: 17 Sep 2020 06:32 PM PDT I've been searching this one up for a long time but still cant find it The soundtrack i mean is the one that start from 0:50 to 1:25 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xkCPNECud8 Closest one that sounds similar to the one in the trailer is called "Dreams of Venice" but its not the same one, or at least a modified one So is this like a unreleased version of it or an extended or different soundtrack? Possible other Pieces of Eden, (Apple and Sword) in Celtic England? Posted: 17 Sep 2020 01:44 PM PDT From, "An Introduction to Celtic Mythology by David Bellingham" Page 89: So there may have been another Apple somewhere around Celtic England and King Arthur as an Order of the Ancients member might have taken the Sword of Eden from Cullwch swapping it for a standard sword replica, later turning up with Jacgues de Molay? My 100% Journey has hit a wall Posted: 17 Sep 2020 11:27 PM PDT I had a message before about my 100% journey through all AC games and dlc and it has been great played games I hadn't played before. But the one game I'm struggling to even play is the game I thought was my favourite. Origins I always liked and thought it was my favourite but at this moment I've got almost 0 drive to finish it. Idk if it's because it's so recent I played it or something. Has anyone recently replayed the game if so have you had the same issues. PS. If people says it's because the game is huge and 100% a game like origins is tedious but I can't even replay the story which is strange [link] [comments]

Is there actually a 60 cargo Frigate in Black Flag? Posted: 17 Sep 2020 09:19 AM PDT Some guides I am reading say I can get a Frigate with the below stats, but I'm only ever getting 50 cargo following the area/manhunt level.
