I still don't get the hate for AC: Unity

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 02:43 AM PST

I think the game was the first ever to show us what the new generation of consoles could do graphically. The details in the city, the incredible lighting effects, the crowds of people, even the rooftops looked incredible. I would even argue that most of recent releases don't even surpass it.

It was a jaw dropping experience and sure, the performance wasnt great but that's the case with most games when a new console generation arrives.

Also I don't get the critiques on the gameplay. People always wanted the series to go back to its roots and Unity is basically AC2 on crack, I don't intend to offend anyone but I don't see what Unity doesn't drastically improve on. The missions feel really fluid and the story, while not too memorable, gives motivation to keep playing to see what comes next. I think the game feels and looks absolutely gorgeous, you can really feel how much work went into it and I think it's unfair to judge it only on its bugs.

When I went back a few years later and played it on my relatively powerful PC and on 60 FPS in 21:9 it was straight up the best AC experience I ever had.

What is your opinion on Unity? Even if it's negative I'd like to hear it just to maybe get both sides.

Could SHE be alive ? [SPOILER]

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 10:25 AM PST

As you may know juno was killed in a comic .The way ubisoft handled her story is outrageous and the fans lost hope for the franchise's future . I never lost hope though . I may be naive but i still believe there is a possibility of her coming back. Let's break down the reasons that keep me hopeful ! - First and foremost , Juno said that her body was infused with the power of the shroud . The shroud is capable of healing any wound. So technically speaking , she is invincible . - Moreover , Crawford Starrick was stabbed multiple times by hidden blades but wasn't injured at all due to the shroud's power. So Juno should have survived despite having her throat slit by Charlotte who used a hidden blade. - Furthermore , Gramatica survived from an explosion similar to the one in the Project phoenix laboratory because he was wearing another shroud (audio file in syndicate mentioned that). While Charlotte probably died from the explosion , Juno should not be injured whatsoever . - Also Aymar Azaïzia , when asked about the decision of having the project phoenix storyline and consequently Juno's return be in a comic he said that that couldn't ever be the main part of one big game .It appears as if he was just referring to the project phoenix and wanted to make it clear that having this storyline , that is about the return of a person not many people know about (that's what he believes anyway) , be the main story of a triple A title , is impossible . He never outright said that Juno is gone forever . On the contrary , he emphasized that Juno was really and still is really important (he literally said exactly that) . - Finally , if they wanted her gone they wouldn't put her in Odyssey and have her and her husband be the ones who created the mythical creatures . It seems to me that the new apocalyptic event Layla tries to prevent is not just another solar flare , but the return of the Isu who will use mythical creatures to rule the world ... Ragnarok . After all there is a hidden monologue in the Heir of memories quest where if you interact as Layla with the floor on the destroyed pillars she will say something like "The creatures were dangerous and still are " . There are a lot of hidden conversations and monologues that i can't find on YouTube . If anyone does find them let me know what Layla said for this specific interaction . I believe it was on medusa's destroyed pillar. Anyways , that's all I wanted to say . Now i want your opinions on the topic ! ;)

Just how secret is the secret war?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 11:49 AM PST

I've been replaying Revelations, and just as I remembered, this game had the most open exposure of the Assassins and Templars to the public. There are a number of factors in the game that clearly demonstrate that the people of Constantinople know at minimum much more about the existence of the Assassins, and it seems most everyone in the government knows of the Assassins and Templars. For example, when Ezio is rescuing civilians and recruiting them to the Brotherhood, he simply says to go join the Assassins. He doesn't even say "go to Tiber Island and seek out Machiavelli" like he does in Brotherhood. Yet Ezio does make an effort to protect Sofia from the war by not telling her about the Brotherhood, insisting telling her about the war would endanger her more (though as we know, that plan doesn't work out).

All that said, after the fall of Masyaf and the Brotherhood returning to its hidden roots, Constantinople seems to be something of an exception to the general secrecy of the secret war. It bears discussing how secret the Brotherhood and the Order are in general. We know that Erudito is a modern day organization working to expose the existence of the war to the general public, so we can assume it's still a poorly kept secret up til to modern day. I don't really have a driving question for discussion, but I'd love to hear any thoughts y'all have. Thanks and vittoria agli Assassini!

I'm scared for the next upcoming AC game.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 04:22 PM PST

Recently some insiders pointed at the new AC game being called "Ragnarok", which of course leads to a viking themed game.
I as a Dane, have always, since the first Assassins Creed, wanted there to be a game about my people's history, about the vikings.
I would have been jumping endlessly, if it were but a couple of years ago. But with AC Odyssey, I'm actually scared.
I find truth and honesty important, and I think that looking back on history, in any case, should be used as a lesson, to see what we could've done better. Therefore, I of course, dislike when people change major things revolving history. There is nothing wrong with making a fictional game, for there to be a story. But to alter the problems in history, for political correctness, is both stupid and unneeded.
Looking on Odyssey, they changed a few things to fit journalists, and others view on things, some things that are major, and some things that should not be changed. This is simply pure censoring of the truth, for very vulnerable people to hide behind.
It's not like when they make World of Warcraft, Dragon age, skyrim or similar games, they may all be in some way midieval themed, yet none of them claim to be based on history, nor have real locations. Games that do this, like say, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, makes sure to actually be right about the true history, and doesn't change major pillars of society or the world, like adding Unicorns, multiple worlds, switching/mixing gender/sex roles.
If we take a look on Assassins Creed- Brotherhood, Unity or III, we find that they kept close to historical accuracy, not changing major fundaments for political reasons.
But if we to take a look at Odyssey, they mess with quite the important themes of history, like confusing the roles of Sparta's society with their gender politics, mixing bandits, soldiers with male/female, (Please note: I have nothing against women in any kind of way. But if you want to make a game, involving 50/50 gender roles, History is NOT the place to look, don't hide the truth just because you dislike it. Instead make a full blown Fantasy game)
By in my opinion, AC Odyssey didn't earn the right to call itself based on History, as it changes things that are too important to that history. And no, I'm sorry to say it, but unicorns weren't in acient greece.

Now some might say, "What about the pieces of Eden?!"
    First off:
    1. They are clearly ficitonal, and is an important story element, unlike gender politics.
    2. Noone thinks they're real, a bit like unicorns, yet people may be confused by changing politics, gender roles, or countries in games.

I'm scared that they will mess too much with my peoples history. There are things we know are true, like Denmark most likely being the ruling force of that time Scandinavia, and was the "Country" that consisted of (What is now) Norway, England, Skåne (Part of Sweden that was activily vikings in Europe.) and of course, Denmark. What many people, especially Americans [Edit: talking about the users of the game, not ubisoft wich is obviously French] , get wrong, is that they confuse the countries with each other.
One huge example is the vikings show, it is sooo far off that its embarrasing. It had some true points to it, but was very flawed on the historical accuracy.
About the gender thing in the viking era, the warriors consisted of males, which is proven. Some may bring up the shieldmaidens, but the thing is, they are not exactly proven. There are stories about a few women that were warriors, but thats that.
(Let me just add, that Vikings were one of the most equal societies in the world at this time. Women had a voice just as much as men did, men just did the fighting due to their biological advantage, while women kept to the children.)

So to sum up this long post. I fear that this Ragnarok game, will take a huge dump on my peoples actual history, and make the rest of the world believe in something that is not true, which honestly, America is, really, really known for over here. It'll just be annoying and confusing. I beg and hope for Ubisoft to keep the historical accuracy to AC III levels or likewise, but I sadly doubt they'll do that.

Am I insane for thinking this way? am I wrong for wanting truth to my country's history?
(Disclaimer: I have nothing against either males, females, unicorns and what else there are mentioned here. I just want the truth rather than a full blown lie.)
(Second disclaimer: I know that there has to be a bit fictional about the games, but like AC:III, I just want it to be only the needed things, and not the unneeded things like gender, because that'll confuse people.)

Was Ikaros nerfed or something? I can't seem to spot Ostraka's with him.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 11:39 AM PST

I never got around to finishing the game so I made a new file today and I swear I can have Ikaros staring dead at an ostraka and it still won't mark it. Back when I first started playing I never used to have a problem with it, but now it seems that they simply can't be tagged anymore?

Looking for some people to do a 4-player coop mission in Unity for the UbiClub challenge on Xbox.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 04:08 AM PST

Not having any luck with the matchmaking, so thought I'd see if anyone here would like to do this. I gather you just need to complete a coop mission with three other players, so can't imagine it will take long once coordinated.
