Recently finishes both Odyssey and Origins and I'm really hoping Valhalla is more like Origins.

    Posted: 09 May 2020 07:11 PM PDT

I love both of the games and have put close to 500 hours between the two of them..... but I feel like origins had more personality if that makes sense? Or I guess the identity of the game was more pronounced in what it was aiming for it felt like. Plus I think Odyssey added a few elements that I felt went in the wrong direction like the endless quests that didn't add anything to the game and the inclusion of resources being far more important aspect if the upgrades. Though the recent news about it being a smaller game gives me a lot of hope and I'm excited to see whats to come!

The bounty system in Odyssey shouldn’t be in Valhalla

    Posted: 09 May 2020 12:01 AM PDT

Don't take the title wrong. I mean the bounty system as it is shouldn't be in the new game. The way it works now is kinda bad and should be refined if they are to add it to Valhalla. I've noticed that in Odyssey if you kill someone that gives you a bounty, killing the person that placed the bounty doesn't remove it. Are you telling me that this person ran all the way to a sponsor and back in order to have the bounty stick? It doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of things. Maybe they could add a bounty system to the new game but it'll need some refining before they do imo. I'd like to hear anyone else's take on this feature.

I hope ac Valhalla takes inspiration form red dead redemption 2

    Posted: 09 May 2020 12:54 PM PDT

As we know that we are getting a settlement feature in Valhalla I hope that it works in a similar way to red dead redemption 2's camp where there is chores to do around the camp, people to talk to, quests from people, your own bed to change the time, hunting task to do and customisation features.

Mine has to be the normal bayek outfit. Not completely sure why but it captures travelling and wandering Egypt so well

(Suggestion) Please give us an option to seamlessly raise or lower our hood.

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:23 PM PDT

It's a bit tedious to have to open a menu and check a box in order to have your hood up, and there is no animation for doing so. Like in Syndicate, there was an option to raise your hood whenever you crouched and it was all done in-game, I'd like to see this mechanic return but without having to always be crouched in order to be hooded. I know it's minute, but it's a quality of life detail that I think a lot of people would appreciate.

Also please let us brandish our hidden blades...

I have compiled a list of Assassins Creed villain archetypes that I have noticed through the games

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:51 PM PDT

So I've noticed that some motivations and proffesions carry over from one game to the next, more often than not. I figured I'd try to compile some of the most obvious examples of villain archetypes that I have seen in the franchise:

The mad doctors: Torturing and experimenting on their patients for some Templar described "greater good"

    Garnier de Naplouse- Ac1

    Malfatto- Ac Brotherhood

    Edmund Judge- Ac Liberation

    John Elliotson - Ac Syndicate

The overzealous priests: Manipulating religion to surpress the free thought of the people

    Jubair Al Hakim- Ac1

    Savonarola- Ac2

    Ristoro- Ac Brotherhood

    Hetepi- Ac Origins

    Chrysis- Ac Odyssey

The self serving merchants: Primary purpose in the templar order is getting themselves richer. Serves themselves before the templar ideology:

    Abul Nuqoud- Ac1

    Emilio Barbarigo- Ac2

    Laurens Prins- Ac Black Flag

    Phillip Twopenny - Ac Syndicate

    Elpenor - Ac Odyssey

So what do you think? Do you concider the parallels obvious, or no? Can you recall any archetypes that I don't recall?

Possible "surprise areas" of AC Valhalla by a Viking enthusiast

    Posted: 09 May 2020 07:05 PM PDT

So if you dont know by now, one of the devs said in an interview that, besides England and Norway, we will see a few surprise areas. Maybe we get to explore them a little, maybe not, but we'll see more. As a Viking enthusiast, I have a few ideas on what these areas might end up being and wanna share with you all. If theres any actual expert here who studied the matter please feel free to correct or add anything.

    • Denmark- So it is now known that Darby and a team of Ubidevs went to see some locations over in Denmark. Maybe to get inspiration for building our initial Norway settlement, but why send the narrative director for that? Denmark is where most Vikings came from to raid England, and we'll most certainly meet a few Danes at least there. My guess is that maybe we get into some kind of beef with one (maybe he's the reason we have to leave Norway or the one who burns whatever Eivor is staring at in the gameplay trailer) and we go there on some kind of revenge mission.
    • Ireland- The Vikings also crossed the Irish Sea and colonized bits of Ireland and the Isle of Man, including having built a settlement in what is today's Dublin.
    • Paris- Ah the big one. If you have seen the achievement leaks (which look false now) you'd see that the prologue was The Siege of Paris. Even though the leaks are most likely fake, I still havent lost hope of seeing it in the game. Now, there were two Viking sieges of paris. The first one was in 845, and ended in success with the Vikings looting the city. The second one happened in 885/886 (this one is portrayed in the Vikings TV show, albeit with a different outcome) and after many unsucessful attacks, the Vikings were not able to penetrate the city. Either of them would make an epic addition to the game, and we also know theres an Isu vault in Paris. Though, given the dates, the second one is probably more likely to appear.
    • Iceland- Im almost 100% sure we'll see Iceland in the game. First, theres an Isu vault there as we've discovered in Origins. Secondly, its majestic and haunting volcanic island much like Thera from Odyssey, where there was also a vault. Iceland was pretty much home to just hermits before the starting date of the game, but towards the end of the 9th century it was effectively settled, and I cant help but think that we might make a trip there to find the vault.
    • Scotland- We know its not gonna be a part of the main map, but theres also a vault there, and the Vikings settled the western and northern scottish islands, so there may be a connection there as well.
    • Byzantine Empire- The Byzantine Empire employed vikings and anglo-saxons as persoal bodyguards to the emperor, called The Varangian Guard. Now, the unit was not officially established until long after the starting date of the game, but the first time the Empire used norsemen was after a war with the Kievan Rus in 874, so maybe we'll get to see it for some reason as well, maybe we get exiled there for a while, or we hunt down some member of the Guard. Now, theres a discussion whether the Rus were scandinavian or slavs, but it seems peaceful that there were scandinavians in the elite ruling classes. Unlikely its gonna be in the game, but its a possibility.
    • Luni, Italy- Far fetched, but its a cool story and we might see it. Basically a couple of swede Vikings decided to raid the Mediterranean between 859-861, and one of the cities they meant to attack was Rome. Given that proper sieges arent Viking specialty, one of the leaders decided to fake his death and say that he had a deathbed conversion to Christianity and wished to be buried in consecrated ground within the city. Long story short, he leaps out of the coffin, kills the priests and opens the gates for his army to sack the city. SPOILER ALERT FOR VIKINGS TV SHOW- this is what happens at the end of the siege of Paris in the show, instead of being defeated. END OF SPOILERS. But after the sacking was done, they realise they're not in Rome but in Luni. Its a funny, epic and cool story they might throw in, or even adapt to an English fortress we attack, as the infiltration sounds very Assassin-like.

Im pretty sure the surprise areas we will see will be in this list, as I cant think of any other interesting locations they might take us to, at least in Viking history. They did raid many other places, but none with epic stories or events worthy of note. If you got any other suggestions, go ahead and please add.

AC Black Flag: Did you enjoy the gameplay and missions?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 08:59 PM PDT

Pirate setting is my jam and I love sailing in BF. However, its clunky gameplay and the series of tailing missions are annoying. I'm at sequence 6 and it"s getting frustrating af. A vast majority of main missions are tailing or eavesdropping. I don't mind playing stealthy but the mechanics and mission designs just aren't well done. Will the game get better? I really want to like it.

Which Assassin Do You Think Deserves A Sequel?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:45 PM PDT

For me personally I think Arno deserves a sequel because of his potential and possibly story of hunting down Shay. Maybe even having Connor join in trying to take down Shay.

Connor should have been a character in AC Unity

    Posted: 09 May 2020 10:12 PM PDT

I remember in AC3, there's a dialogue scene where Connor and Lafayette talk and Lafayette says "I'd really like to take you to France and show you the country."

I think it would've been really cool if Connor was in Paris during the French Revolution, observing the controversial actions that Lafayette took, and ended up meeting with Arno during the chaos of the times.

I know one of the locations is Northumbria, but how much of Scotland will be included in Valhalla?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 05:23 PM PDT

Ok, so a couple of summers ago I lived in Scotland. We were right outside of Edinburgh & went there almost everyday. So I saw Edinburgh castle & Arthur's Seat (said to be the location of Camelot) everyday. I know that Ubisoft has already said that Northumbria will be a part of the map. But does anyone know or have any rumors about how far north it goes. Because I wanna raid Castle Rock or explore Arthur's Seat & see if Ubisoft does anything with the myths around it.

Why is Origins so much more beautiful than Odyssey?

    Posted: 09 May 2020 06:10 PM PDT

I went back to Origins because my wife wanted to play it due to the setting. Holy shit, it is straight up photo realistic a lot of the time. Its a shame they couldn't keep that videlity in Odyssey.

AC Unity is SO much better on PC

    Posted: 09 May 2020 09:58 AM PDT

I purchased AC Unity for my PS4 in November 2019 and have played through the game twice since then. I always really liked the game, despite its flaws, and never had too big of a problem with the FPS/performance, but the response times are generally slow on the PS4 as a whole and the controls feel very heavy.

I recently purchased Unity on PC because I won't have access to my PS4 next year and it was on sale for $9 on UPlay. I had to lower the resolution slightly, but I've been able to get 60fps consistently and it might as well be an entirely different game. The controls are so much more responsive, the movement is more fluid, the animations flow so much nicer, and everything loads so much faster. I genuinely can't believe how much of a difference it makes.

Anyone else have a similar experience?
