AC should be inspired by successful Action Adventures instead of copying RPGs. Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:25 AM PST Since Origins the AC devs said that the series need to change to evolve and that people get sick of the old formula. But does this really mean that it should go from now on fully rpg? People hated the yearly releases and Unitys catastrophic launch but I never heard that someone doesnt like the Action Adventure direction of Assassins Creed and wanted a RPG instead. Just look at games like Last of Us, Grand Theft Auto or God of War. There where very successful and loved by people. Because the had thoughtful gameplay an an incredible Storytelling. Most of them paves new standards for the game industry by their design and they where no RPGs. AC was back in the times of the Altair and Ezio a game that set new standards for open worlds. Witcher 3,Skyrim, Mass Effect etc. are also great games but I think it is terrible that AC try's to copy them because this doesnt fit in what the Series established and create many more problems. It also let the series forget its identity. I think if the devs should look more at other Successful Action Adventures and what distinguish AC from them. Because the Series has definitely the potential to be an Impressive Action Adventure with unique Gameplay and phenomenal Storytelling. [link] [comments]
I Would Love For A Mainline Assassin's Creed Game Set In India Posted: 17 Dec 2019 03:00 AM PST Personally, I thought the use of all India, China and Russia were a waste for AC Chronicles. These three locations would produce such depth as a mainline AC title. What do you all think? Will we ever see a mainline AC game revisit these locations now that they've been done in AC Chronicles? Wouldn’t it be great to have a whole new set of AC games?? Posted: 17 Dec 2019 07:29 PM PST Would anyone else love to see a whole new set of AC games that timeline from AC1 till the more modern AC's namely 3 or Black Flag? I have been thinking how cool it would be to see some AC titles that follow lineage of different Assassin's and then on the same timeline a whole set of games that focus on the Templar's. Essentially doing two set of games but having them follow different families in some different countries. How cool would it be to see games set around the 1100's in England with Templar Kings and their sons or daughters that are some early Templar's, or Assassin's leaders post Altair that go off to new lands. Syndicate is the black sheep of the franchise Posted: 17 Dec 2019 09:22 PM PST (This post is based off a recent video essay I did on Syndicate and the Assassin's Creed series, and I'll embed it below!) Syndicate is the black sheep of the Assassin's Creed franchise. For two reasons:
In my subjective view, Assassin's Creed is what it is because of the parkour systems, and social (or unconventional) stealth. Being able to run across rooftops, into alleyways, onto balconies, etc., and to use crowds, deception, illusions, and so forth, to hide from your targets – not just toggling crouch. When Syndicate launched, I think it represents the greatest deviation of AC's mechanical identity until we got Origins. Yeah, even more than Black Flag. Because of that rope launcher thing. While ziplining across London "made you feel like Spiderman", there was no rhythm of rooftop running anymore. I spent all my time pressing LB and watching Evie take off. Parkour, really, was dead. And the demise of parkour went hand-in-hand with the lack of social stealth. It really astounds me that Unity is the predecessor – the dense crowds of Paris are still a joy to revisit to this day. But the empty, giant boulevards of London? Not so much. Sure, we get cool assassinations sequences, and some of the teeter close to invoking that feeling of Masayaf, but it's still moving towards general "stealth" (heck, Evie's master ability is about just totally becoming invisible). So Syndicate, mechanically, feels less like Unity, and honestly more like Origins and Odyssey a lot of the time. Just in 1850s London. But where Syndicate really stands out is in its narrative storytelling. This is where I go off on a bit of a meta-analysis, because I think if we recategorize the entire series, it makes Syndicate stand out like a sore thumb. We all have our own way of classifying AC games – Desmond games, Post-Desmond, "New World", now that "Rebels" stuff, the Ezio Trilogy, Origins-Odyssey, etc. But what I've taken to, is trying to think about the games through what I think should be the primary narrative lens – the Templar vs. Assassin conflict. And what kind of themes surround this fight. And this is how we get two separate tetralogies. I really think AC 1 to Revelations should be called the "Mediterranean Tetralogy." It centres around a bunch of locales around the Mediterranean, but each title also introduces new elements to the Assassin Brotherhood. AC 3 to Unity is the "1700s Tetralogy." And if the Mediterranean Tetralogy was about the building blocks of understanding, these next 4 games are about dismantling the truths. From 3 to Unity, all of these titles make us rethink how we view the Assassin-Templar conflict. Starting with the twist of Haytham Kenway, and ending with the tag-team of Elise and Arno Assassin-Templar overthrowing a Sage. Black Flag has us working on both sides of the aisle; as does Rogue. We are not just playing Assassins anymore – we're looking at this conflict from almost every angle. Each of these games adds some new layer. And its honestly almost good storytelling, over all. AC 1 to Revelations set up our understanding of the world; and AC 3 to Unity is our Empires Strikes Back. And you'll note this leaves out Syndicate. Because Syndicate doesn't add anything to the conversation. It does a complete 180. It's honestly more cartoony than the OG Assassin's Creed. The Templars are evil industrialists; and the Assassins are good guys, anti-capitalist, but pro-empire, or something. Why are we even supporting the Queen, again? Why are we against the rise of industry, if it could mean the birth of the middle class and thus the demise of the landed gentry aka the people in power? There's thematic threads that are not fully explored, but more importantly, Frye's vs. Starrick doesn't build on this really interesting story that's emerged in the past 4 (or 8) games about what this Assassin-Templar conflict might actually mean. And with Origins and Odyssey, I doubt we'll ever really get to have any closure to this ongoing fight that started with Altair and Desmond all those years ago. It's disappointing – Syndicate had an opportunity to provide some kind of meta-narrative closure; to have some final, closing thoughts on this weird Templar-Assassin conflict. Except it doesn't. It just kind of… sits there. One foot in the old world of AC, one foot in the new. Not narratively linked or connected really to any other game. Not offering any new insight or lore or conspiracy. Just kinda a big ol black sheep. (And here's the full video.) [link] [comments]
What is your opinion on Ragnarocksupposed map size? Posted: 17 Dec 2019 10:06 PM PST The leak suggests that the map will be TWICE the size of Odyssey's. [link] [comments]
Does anyone think the controls for Revelations are way more clunky than Brotherhood? Posted: 17 Dec 2019 02:14 PM PST I don't know if maybe it's just me but it seems like the game just doesn't flow as well as Brotherhood and it's really impacting the "cool" factor of the games. Like I'll be making my daring escape from a mission and Ezio will leap and then just not grab the ledge and then about one hundred thousand more guards will all agro on me. Also does anyone actually use the bombs because aside from a smoke bomb they seem a bit useless as an assassin. [link] [comments]
AC Odyssey's DLC and Modern Day. Posted: 17 Dec 2019 08:09 PM PST I bought the Gold Edition a couple days ago because I traded it in before the DLC released so I never got to play them. Time's passed and I can finally play it. I wanted to know something though: Which DLC features the Modern Day? [link] [comments]
A problem I have with Oydessys Ocean. Posted: 17 Dec 2019 08:05 PM PST I feel that the distance from the land masses to the ocean is way smaller than it should be. For example, Elpenor talks about how the ship you use isn't built for open water when you first go to Ithaca, but Ithaca is a casual swim away. Why is there so little water between the land? I get that it's for an easier and less boring experience, but still? [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:39 PM PST In Odyssey we only had fire and poison. Mayyyyybe knockout (which should be expanded, as you only deal it with fists and one DLC weapon) if you count that. A Viking game should 100% have electricity (cause Thor) and frost (cause its cold). I could see freezing an opponent slowing them down in battle for a while. And electrifying them would stop them entirely, but for a much shorter time. It would make sense for weapons and engravings (which, from a lore standpoint, I see as small devices that use nanotechnology to alter objects) related to freezing and shocking to be found in Northern Europe. Posted: 17 Dec 2019 04:15 PM PST In the first Romulus Lair, I had such a tough time with the full synchronization time limit that I didn't have time to open the other chests in the final room, I just opened the main chest and rushed out. If I redo the lair and get the chests, will I get to keep the money and items that were in them? [link] [comments]
Anyone willing to help out with the "Sacred Land" trophy in Black Flag? (PS4) Posted: 17 Dec 2019 12:08 PM PST Sacred Land is the trophy you get for being the top-scoring player while playing as Jaguar in a Domination match. Since it's difficult to find Domination matches these days, me and another guy in the AC multiplayer Discord are trying to find two other people so we can boost the trophy. If you're interested feel free to hit me up here or on PSN (my PSN ID is Axshen_Potential). Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Engraving Levels (Question) Posted: 17 Dec 2019 01:46 PM PST How does one upgrade the levels of the engravings on items? Some of my items have better engravings than the ones I can get the blacksmith to make, and they're on lower level items that what I am wearing. [link] [comments]
Bought Assassin's Creed: Renaissance (Book). Posted: 17 Dec 2019 02:28 AM PST After playing the Ezio trilogy a long time ago (basicly on all the release days) I was thinking about how I loved the story of these games and how I would like to play through them again (including the first AC, cous I think it adds to the story). Now playing all these games again would take quite some time, so I decided to buy the first book from the book series after not reading any books for about the last 14 years or so. Anyone here that read the book(s)? And if so, are they good and how good compared to the game? Thank you! [link] [comments]
Posted: 17 Dec 2019 03:52 AM PST Is there any way to lower the hood again outside the homestead in ac3 remastered? Glitch or trick? I like connor with his standart outfit but without the hood. [link] [comments]
Would you prefer the next Assassin‘s Creed to be Viking themed or to be set in Japan? Posted: 17 Dec 2019 07:08 AM PST So far, it seems rather likely that the next AC will be set in one of those two themes. I think I'd prefer Japan, but a Viking game would be cool as well - although it might not be that much of an AC game. What do you think? [link] [comments] |
