Viking would be terrible setting for Assassin Creed game. Posted: 10 Sep 2019 12:06 PM PDT I have seen many posts here recently about how we need Viking AC. But why? Yes, people are interested in Viking after seeing some films as Thor, but it will be REALLY bad setting for AC game. Viking game will be set in England or Scandinavia. In that time, there were no cities... Bigest town have few thousends people, practically bigger village. Absence of any bigger town will mean that parkour became useless. Assassin Creed were always about exploration. It was funny to explore Paris, Venice, Pyramids or Athens - but what to do in 9th century Scandinavia? There are no monuments from age of Vikings. Theare are no architectural styles in age of Vikings. There will be only infinite umber of same villages made of wood. Same forest, same hills. Fun of exploraton will be gone after 20 minutes. People often want sea battles of Vikings - but there werent any. Viking ships were maden for transportation - to raid village and then swiftly escape. There were not any big viking sea battle. Even if there was some skirmish - ships just collided and battle was decided in melee between vikings... So it will be something like - reach enemy ship - board - go to another ship - board - .... It will be really boring... So why people want Viking game? I think UBI should focus on City game, because this is what they do best. [link] [comments]
Why Feudal Japan setting would be perfect for Assassin's Creed? Posted: 11 Sep 2019 12:49 AM PDT Feudal Japan would be perfect for the series as first Ubisoft never gone to Asia in the main titles They can follow the same RPG formula with this setting too There's not much naval gameplay and can focus more on land exploration like Origins and other games They can bring old formula also as Japanese villages were dense and can make little crowd for social stealth, and rooftops were near and castles which makes easy scaling and improving parkour Ninjas were more of real life assassins and focusing on a ninja-assassin protoganist would be good Game set in Honshu island with surrounding islands is perfect and some naval exploration is possible (not eliminating totally) There's also other games which is set in Japan like Sekiro and GoT (Sony's upcoming game), this will also put Ubisoft to compete with them and we all know Ubisoft is good in doing Historical accurate content and can probably beat other games from different devs [link] [comments]
Odyssey Discovery mode, quick impressions Posted: 10 Sep 2019 10:10 AM PDT Checked the mode for about an hour. Some general changes I noticed:
Some quick examples: Kefallonia - no official tours, but 10 sites. 6 of them are placed near the temple and make de facto tour about Odyssey; 2 are in starting spot, dedicated to Kassandra & Alexios (Behind the Scenes); 2 are separate, but interestingly similar in topic (shipbuilding); Phokis: 1 tour (Delphi); 17 sites: 3 de facto tour about olives, 5 detached in various areas, remaining 9 in Delphi (some alongside the tour). Besides underwhelming choice of avatars, and mentioned above partial lack of FT, I generally like it. [link] [comments]
Ac Odyssey, I miss shields from Origins Posted: 10 Sep 2019 07:19 AM PDT Featuring Spartans and Athenians in Ancient Greek based game, I really miss shields in Odyssey [link] [comments]
Some aspects of the old side quests structure I hope to see in future entries. Posted: 10 Sep 2019 11:05 PM PDT I just played III remastered and I realise I really preferred it when side quests had a common theme. I was particularly fond of the frontiersmen and the homestead missions. In Odyssey and Origins, they've all seemed so disjointed. Which isn't to say I disliked them. But I did wish they tied together, and gave you a sense of completion. Something like the Xenia, Pythagoras, Alcibiades or Markos questlines but encompassing every quest in the game. Say, something like the Minotaur de Force. It would've been cool if all the Pythagoras quests had a "decoy" or two in the area and they were all categorised together. Also, I wish that completing a quest wouldn't remove it from your quest log so you could actually feel a sense of completion going through your whole log, kind of like going through the DNA tracker after 100 percent sync. Half of all AC games have been set in countries with a Mediterranean coast. Posted: 10 Sep 2019 10:31 PM PDT There have been 8 mainline entries, and 4 of them - 1,2-B-R (counting the trilogy as one) Origins and Odyssey- have been in countries sharing one sea. Just thought it was very mildly interesting so I pointed it out. [link] [comments]
will playing the discovery tour before playing the game spoil things in odyssey? Posted: 10 Sep 2019 09:44 PM PDT hello everyone! i was just about to start playing odyssey and this discovery tour was released. i was wondering if i should play through it to get a better idea of the world and identify the landmarks, or if it will spoil the game in any way for me. what does everyone think is better to do? tour first or game first, or will it not really matter much and i could go back and forth or something? was also planning on playing origins next, and i have the same question for that game's discovery tour as well. 13 hours into Syndicate, after playing Black Flag, Origins and Odyssey Posted: 10 Sep 2019 10:00 AM PDT I'm not a lifetime AC'r like many of you fine folk. I played Black Flag heavily in 2014 (200 hours). The next AC I played was Origins in 2017. I picked it up because of the hype surrounding the visuals. I love that game, and put about 150 hours into it. Likewise, I loved Odyssey, and have almost 200 hours into that. I am aware of the controversy over the new games compared to their roots. The interesting thing is that, so far, Syndicate seems grindy to me, in exactly the same what that Odyssey is viewed. I plan to put more hours into it, but it's mostly a few different mission styles (child liberation, bounty, etc) and clearing a map. I did like the side quest to track the monster as a change of pace. Granted, going back to the assassin focus is a welcome return for me, as much as I think the combat in the new ACs are fine, I enjoy stealth as well. Additionally, it does provide a bit more immersion in Syndicate where leveling stats do not matter as much as they do in Odyssey. The London map is beautiful, but there are also some immersion breakers wherein the enemies and NPCs are less varied even than Odyssey. Odyssey also has that "NPCs including the chickens will attack you if you start causing trouble," whereas in Syndicate, they just stand there and gasp. So, all in all, I'm surprised with Syndicate. I don't dislike it at all, but I expected it to be more story-driven when compared to the new games, because one of the chief complaints with Odyssey is the grindiness and lack of story. Maybe the story will pick up as I progress further.... [link] [comments]
[Spoilers] Question About Black Flag Tulum and Templar Armours Posted: 10 Sep 2019 04:39 PM PDT Spoilers, I think? I just managed to unlock both of these armours, and I was just curious about something. If I choose to replay the game, will they still be unlocked for me in the equipment section or will I have to search for all the Templar keys and the Mayan Stelae again? The search for the Stelae were fun, of course, but I only did all the hunts and Stelae puzzles to get the armours. I just wanna know if I'm gonna have to repeat everything or not! Posted: 10 Sep 2019 09:03 AM PDT I haven't bought the game yet but I just want to know how (or even if I can) access these quests. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Sep 2019 11:12 AM PDT So a lot of people are excited for a viking setting. I think it would be cool too. It's compatible with the whole assassin theme and seems like a natural continuation. Buuut, from what I heard it would be set during Ragnar Lothbrok's time, so we don't really get any tall buildings, or large cities. Also no castles at all, so the whole wall climbing and parkour features will be similar to AC3 [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Sep 2019 06:25 PM PDT Something like Gearbox did with that free DLC they dropped for Borderlands 2, which set up the plot of Borderlands 3. I think it would be awesome. [link] [comments]
Looking for a new Assassin’s Creed lock screen Posted: 10 Sep 2019 07:14 AM PDT
Any idea if we are getting some France in this Viking Assassins creed? Posted: 10 Sep 2019 03:38 PM PDT Speaking as a Crusader Kings 2 fan I'd say it'd be weird to travel from Norway/Sweden to England without being able to land in France. And how about Ireland? Spain? I'd be interested in seeing this map considering the detail Egypt and the Mediterranean had in the previous games. [link] [comments]
Potential [Spoiler] for Assassin's Creed Origins. What is the Duat? Posted: 10 Sep 2019 09:28 AM PDT OK, I'm new here, but I'm an Assassin's Creed fan. I love the series, and I've been playing Origins, recently. But while playing through the story, when you complete an assassination, your target goes straight to the Duat. What is it, exactly? I know that it's the realm of the dead, and souls pass through... But what IS it? As in, is it real? Is it a construct of the Isu? Does EVERYONE go there, when they die? Do you just see what you want to see after death? Is it a general afterlife that the Egyptians just called the Duat? And how does Bayek travel there? Is it just game logic, or are you actually escorting their ka, there? It's been bugging, and I have no answer or indication, online. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Should Moors appear in the Viking game? Posted: 10 Sep 2019 02:57 PM PDT I hear many locations for the vikings setting, from Iceland to England, to Denmark, but never anywhere with Moorish or Arab people. This is ironic since Moors were connected with the vikings. Vikings would often travel to those places and sometimes raid them. One of the most famous Viking movies from the 60s features the Moors https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Ships_(film) I also believe Ashraf Ismail would definitely be on board with this due to his love of diversity. What are your thoughts? [link] [comments]
Poll: Which setting of Ragnarok/Kingdom would you prefer? Posted: 10 Sep 2019 02:35 PM PDT We don't know when will the next game take place (heck, it's not even confirmed it will be really about Vikings), but there are generally 2-3 possibilities:
9th and 11th century choices would be IMHO more boring, but understandable from advertising point of view - kind of like choosing Cleopatra & Caesar to be included in Egypt game. Second scenario is more niche, at least outside Northern Europe. Of course it's possible game would be huge enough to include both Baltic, North Sea, Scandinavia and British Isles - but still, some time choice would be necessary. Which one would be best in your opinion? Answer HERE and feel free to discuss in comments ;) [link] [comments]
Posted: 10 Sep 2019 09:27 AM PDT Played for a got 3-4 hours last night, made it to the title sequence and I found the temple guys kids in their poor hiding places. I've got a big axe and sickle sword for melee, and a light bow and predator bow for range. Lastly, do I get my hands on some hidden blades at some point or not? I understand it's still early, but I'd like my fist blades. [link] [comments] |
