The franchise should ditch the quasi Dark Souls combat and focus on the execution streak.

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 06:08 AM PDT

The Dark Souls like combat is good and I enjoy it but it has its flaws. At higher levels you can just hit people until they are dead and there isn't really any incentive to use your abilities. They should focus on what makes the games from Brotherhood to AC4's combat unique, the execution streak. A lot of people said that it was too easy but the challenge comes from keeping up the streak, much like Arkham.

Maybe that could have the execution streak be a reward in combat and add a combo counter so that when you reach a certain number you can activate the execution streak. Just an idea.

Ubisoft announced a second year of post launch content for a game that still has broken stealth mechanics

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 05:08 PM PDT

Ubisoft just had their big press conference announcing another year of post launch content for Valhalla, while leaving game breaking bugs that have been in the game since day 1 unpatched, most notably the broken enemy A.I. and detection speed. This is completely unacceptable behavior and frankly a slap in the face for anyone unfortunate enough to still be invested in this trainwreck of a franchise.

Enemy detection speed is inconsistent, they can stand right next to you and won't notice you at all or at the other end of the stronghold detecting you instantly. Their behavior can't be reliably predicted, the game doesn't give us clear rules to play by, it will just do whatever it feels like.

The longer they wait to address this issue the more this seems to me like a Unity situation, where they realised the game was broken to its core and fixing it just wouldn't be worth the time and money. Last time they messed up this bad, the sales numbers plummeted and they had to reboot the franchise to save it. This won't happen this time, because this just isn't an issue the audience they've cultivated with their recent games cares about. For long time fans, this is an embarassement and another nail in the coffin of Assassin's Creed.

And to the people who always respond to posts like these with stuff like "Well, it works fine for me": I don't believe you. If you think this is working as intended you haven't been paying enough attention. And even if you are the chosen one who never ever had any bugs with this game's stealth mechanics: Why would you then go and start pointless arguments with people who had a worse experience than yours? I just want the buggy A.I. to be fixed, telling me that it works fine for you is like telling a player who had the Brewing Storm bug to quit complaining because you haven't encounter it.

For people who hated Odyssey, how did you feel about Valhalla?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 07:20 PM PDT

I personally thought that calling Odyssey an Assassin's Creed game was an insult to the series and to its fans. I hated it, and was ready to abandon the series altogether.

However, Valhalla was enough to just barely rope me back in. I'm still cautious about the series future, but Valhalla was good enough to give me hope for games that are up to the quality of the classics.

Whats everyone elses opinion on it?

Why the hell is the narwhal terrifying in AC Rogue?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 10:23 AM PDT

I have been playing AC Rogue for a week or two now, and I decided I like it enough to platinum. I made the mistake of attempting to harpoon a narwhal with only one harpoon storage upgrade. I had done harpooning in Black Flag without upgrades pretty easily so I assumed I could do it easily here as well. Anyways I harpooned the narwhal, did the chase scene stuff and then started waiting for it to appear. I look everywhere, and all of a sudden it jumps in front of me and crashes into my boat. That honestly scared the ever living s**t out of me and I cant get over how the narwhal is terrifying.

So, where TF is Assassins Creed 1 remake?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 05:51 PM PDT

It's almost like because of Valhalla's sales at launch they think we absolutely love it, but I think it's a little lack luster, not really keen on them supporting it for another year. I was really hoping for an AC1 remake but I guess not yet. Thoughts?

Ubisoft's new open world RPG formula for the series is financially successful. From a monetary standpoint there's no reason for them to return it the original formula.

    Posted: 13 Jun 2021 12:06 AM PDT

People complain that the newer games don't have cohesive stories, feel shallow, flat characters, etc. So they're confused as to why Ubisoft won't return to the more well received early entries of the series. The issue is that it doesn't matter if these new games aren't as narratively compelling as the previous, they're selling more. They're more palatable for a general audience who just want an open world sandbox. Ubisoft saw that the Assassin's Creed fan base was too niche, and that by transforming their series into a Witcher-esque RPG, they'd attract a much larger general fanbase.

Assassin or Pirate? Which would YOU play ?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 09:55 AM PDT

How would you feel about Assassin's Creed going back to its roots (Brotherhood) and the newer RPG ones becoming pirate games, Skull and Bones maybe ?

I know many of you like the newer ones, but as an old fan myself, I'd actually prefer to play both traditional Assassins Creed and the newer form of games as a new independent IP.

Valhalla vs Odyssey - better gameplay or more of the same?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 12:46 PM PDT

Hi, I got Odyssey on my birthday back in March but it did not grab me at all. Not so much story because I don't mind a good "make your mark" type of story, but the gameplay just feels so different from regular AC.

Valhalla looks fun as can be, but I would hate to spend $50+ on a game that's more of the same. What can y'all say about the gameplay and atmosphere compared to Odyssey?

The AC community is very strange.

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 08:25 AM PDT

So I have played almost every AC game that's been made with the exception of a few. All the way from the break out second game to blackflag to even rogue.

I feel like with each entry the games have gotten better and better.

For some reason though, a lot of the AC community has hangups on the newer titles.

    Such as:

    "The maps are too big!"

While I do understand the ubisoft map bloat, I feel like there is a fair amount of content, I will admit odyessy was rather massive for its amount of content ratio

"We want the lore of AC!"

All of them have the lore, I dont really understand that. But to be fair I never found the AC games to be games that had amazing stories

    "Kassandra was a terrible protagonist"

I feel like people only want Ezio, and he was a great protagonist but honestly I think Alexios was fantastic.

    "Blackflag was the best entry"

This one really blows me away. This one had incredible map bloat. It was by far one of the most repetitive entries. Edward was also a horrid protagonist in my opinion.

    "We want real stealth back!"

I hate to say this. But as fun as climbing that ledge to stab that guy was. AC has never been a true stealth game. People act like it used to be hitman. And the parts were you would have to eavesdrop were never enjoyable.

"I dont like the setting of Valhalla!"

I gotta say when they started releasing different time periods I always hoped for viking era. I love viking stuff always have and it's an underdone genre. Different for each of us, for example the syndicate setting is not my thing at all.

"We want the old combat back!"

While it looked cool and made you feel crazy powerful, it was also a snoozefest even on the hardest difficulty. I do admit valhalla is a tad clunky however.

TLDR: Each entry has had more content, and more quality than previous entries. A lot of it may have to do with nostalgia.

Which ‘newer’ Assassins Creed game is the best at making you feel like a proper assassin?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 06:51 PM PDT

Fairly new to AC games and the AC sub so sorry if this is commonly asked but the title pretty much says it all. I want to play an AC game that is considered by a lot of people to make you feel the most like a proper assassin. I say 'newer' AC game because I don't want to play something old right now. I will eventually be playing older AC games however I wanted something a bit more fresh/modern for right now if that makes sense. Thanks!

VALHALLA Difficulty adjustments with recent patches?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 08:06 PM PDT

    Assassin's Creed Valhalla difficulty question..

From what Ive read on this forum it seems the game becomes too easy above level 150ish even on the hardest difficulty. Just wondering, did Ubi address this issue with any of their patches? I don't have the game yet but thinking of getting it during the UbiSoft store sale.

Can someone who owns Valhalla on PC tell me how large their folder is?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 12:24 PM PDT

I ran out of space for an update in my ssd where this game is installed and found it odd since I only have 3 games on it. So I check how large each game is via their folder and Valhalla clocks in at over 93 gigs which seems way too big. The base game is around 50 gigs so where is the extra 40 gigs coming from? Can't be from the DLC. Can someone who owns it in PC tell me how large their game folder is? Thanks.

Are there still social chests in Black Flag?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 11:14 AM PDT

I formatted my laptop some months ago. I didn't know that Black Flag doesn't support syncing with the Ubisoft Cloud, though, so now my old save is gone. I've had to start a new one.

I don't regret the loss of progress. It's been a long time since I played Black Flag; I don't mind going through it again. However, I do mind that I lost all my upgrades...especially my outfits. I don't know which outfit it is that you receive after opening three social chests; it might be the Governor's outfit, or perhaps the Explorer's outfit, but either way, it's gone now. I don't know how the social chests work, but I do know that they're not permanent. Is there any way to get those outfits now? I don't know if I can find the same chests again.

Also, why does Black Flag not support cloud syncing? It makes no sense. Assassin's Creed II, Revelations, III, and Rogue do, but I, Brotherhood, and IV don't. Why the hell not?

Also, I heard that social chests are an online feature. If some of you could add me, or let me add you, that would be nice. I just have a single friend on Ubi Connect, and I don't know who that is.

Order to Complete the Story Arcs/Regions?

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 08:35 AM PDT

I have recently started playing Valhalla and have gotten to the part where you settle into the Ravensthorpe settlement.

What order do I complete all of the arcs/regions on the Alliance Map?

I am aware that there are some other arcs (Jorvik, Vinland, Asgard, Jotunheim) that are there as well, but when do I complete these whilst doing the other arcs?

    Thanks.

Huntsman Outfit for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 04:44 AM PDT

My friend gave me a Special Edition AC Syndicate PS4 which includes The Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy and the PS4 exclusive, Dreadful Crimes.

I was curious if there's a Sherlock outfit and found the Huntsman Outfit. But it is not available for purchase on the PS Store. My region is set in Singapore.

How will I purchase the Huntsman Outfit?

Valhalla vs Odyssey for someone with "Open-World OCD."

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 01:49 PM PDT

Well I just beat the base game of Valhalla recently, due to my open world OCD I was compelled to collect all treasures, mysteries, and artifacts. Which ended up taking a whopping 130 hours. The game was fun but I do strongly feel that it is far too long, they could've cut out more than half of those regions and nothing would've been lost from the experience in my opinion.

That being said, I want to play odyssey at some point (yeah I know I played them out of order, but eh), how long would I be looking at spending with Odyssey with a case of open world OCD?
