I get it, orphans sell. It's why Batman and Spiderman without a mom and a dad work. But this idea has already been super played out already in this series & I would welcome a refreshing change. Would love it if the next AC game has a main character with a loving spouse and a wonderful family they fight tooth and nail to protect from harm and make it out alive until the end.

The vast majority of ''world events'' in Valhalla are forgettable fart jokes, bizarre fights and the same copy and pasted insane persons. Getting rid of side quests was a bad decision.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 08:39 AM PST

There should have been side quests in this game that weren't tied to the main game. People praised the world events when Valhalla came out a few months back for not clogging up the log, for not being long, for being funny. But I do not agree a few events that are funny are most welcome, but when you have the exact same bizarre npc, lethal fart gas, food, sexual jokes, and insane ramblings repacked and renamed into the different regions, it just gets old. Now, there are a few very good emotional ones, like the dementia one, or the axe in the head guy, but the vast majority of them are as described just repackaged and renamed insane npcs and farts.

Would it really have been that hard Ubisoft to have included some side quests? with that said, I am hoping we get some side quests during the seasonal content drops.

Why a Wild West Assassin’s Creed game will never work

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 06:54 PM PST

I see this setting being requested occasionally on this sub, so I'm here to explain two reasons why it just won't work.

The first reason is that there wouldn't be any main cities to parkour in. Sure, you had San Diego and a few others but they wouldn't really big enough to have fun parkouring in (someone correct me if I'm wrong about this). Most of the Wild West was just the wilderness with a few towns sprinkled here and there. So you wouldn't really have parkour in the an AC Wild West.

The second reason is the combat. During the Wild West era, almost all fighting was done with guns, which leaves little room for melee combat. You wouldn't really see swords being used during this time. The primarily melee combat that AC is used to would be gone.

In conclusion, a Wild West game would eliminate three major parts of Assassin's Creed games. If you really have your heart set on a Wild West game, just play Red Dead Redemption 2.

Can we get some decent looking armor in valhalla?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 01:49 PM PST

Why does every armor when fully upgraded look over the top and unrealistic in this game that is in a series which tries to be historical accurate in terms of setting and events.

As far as i am concerned Vikings when raiding wore light armor for better movement and not an armor which was set on fire and horns that are 30 ft. long.

Also a bit more variety would be nice maybe some sets that look more like something in line with assassin's creed, Maybe a hood as headgear, something that looks like a knight set with chainmail or leather armor.

Although that's a scummy businesses practice I'd probably even give in purchasing a stupid helix pack just to have some variety.

So the weight stat in Valhalla is completely meaningless

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 04:37 PM PST

Just did a little test to see how many consecutive dodges I could do before running out of stamina. First I tried it wearing full armour, carrying a bow and two dane axes: 7 dodges. Then I removed all my armour and weapons, so that I had literally nothing equipped, and tried again: 7 dodges. You could even see that the last sliver of stamina left before the last dodge was exactly the same size.

It's pretty disappointing because I was pleasantly surprised that the speed stat actually makes a difference (compare the slowest flail to the fastest flail to see what I mean). So is this weight thing a bug that I'm having, or is this just Ubisoft implementing half-baked, pointless game mechanics again?

The Templars killing Khemu is easily one of the stupidest villain decisions ever

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 06:30 PM PST

The Order of the Ancients (proto-Templars) thought that it would be a good idea to kidnap Bayek (a talented Medjay) and his son Khemu from Siwa alongside their personal friend Chenzira just to find lost Isu technology inside a temple even though they never posed a threat to them whatsoever nor was there any good reason to use them to get inside when they could have just found someone less threatening and dangerous. To top it all off, Flavius Metellus had kicked Bayek in the head and later directed him to accidentally kill his own son. From the moment that the Order decided to mess with Bayek, he joined with his Aya to not only get revenge on the group but got entangled in the bureaucratic, messy world of ancient politics and they would eventually form the Hidden Ones, the original incarnation of the Assassin Brotherhood, kickstarting a secret conflict that would span for millennia. Flavius murdering Khemu just borders on John Wick-levels of villain stupidity since it caused the main protagonist to go on a bloody path of revenge killing everyone who is a member of a secret, powerful group even those that had nothing to do with the death whatsoever much like how Iosef killed John's dog and it caused him to kill any Russian mobster from the Tarasov crime family. And keep in mind, Flavius was extremely arrogant, smug and rather jerkish especially with a Piece of Eden which he used to mess with others including Julius Caesar which makes an even worse version of Iosef since he doesn't show love or affection towards anyone not even his fellow members of the Order which makes his demise at the hands of Bayek all the more satisfying whereas the former at least had a close bond with his father Viggio who sought to avenge his death and get back at John for killing him. In short, the Templars should have even tried to force Bayek and Khemu to open up an Isu vault.

Are characters that can naturally use Eagle Vision also physically superior to normal humans?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 03:51 PM PST

    • It is said that while anyone can technically learn how to use Eagle Vision with enough training, those with a higher percentage of Isu DNA can use the ability naturally.
    • However, I am wondering if characters with a higher percentage of Isu DNA are also naturally more physically superior to normal humans. Since all of the characters we play as in the games have a natural aptitude for Eagle Sense, it would make sense that they were also more physically gifted than normal humans, as this would explain why every character we play as is so deadly and are walking one-person army's.
    • It would also explain why the playable characters from games that take place further in the past, such as Kassandra or Eivor, are stronger than the playable characters from games that take place less in the past, such as Ezio or Edward, as they would likely have higher concentrations of Isu DNA.

Just realised AC3 is the last game that had no microtransactions in the single player. It's sad to see them get worse and worse as the games have gone on.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 09:13 AM PST

I'm not sure if ac3 had microtransactions in multiplayer but yh.

The single player in Black flag was the first with its resource packs where you could just upgrade the jackdaw with materials and sell the rum/sugar to get loads of money. So you could just spend real world money to completely upgrade the jackdaw and Edward with bought animal skins etc. it also had microtransactions to negate gameplay like time saver where it removes the need to find elite plans for jackdaw upgrades.

What did you think when you first saw AC start to have microtransactions?

Didn’t confirm kill on Medunamun? (Origins)

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 09:39 PM PST

    For the quest "False Oracle."

So I air assassinated him, noticed a confirm kill prompt then a cutscene started without me pressing a button. After the cutscene I went back to the area I killed him but couldn't find the body.

Am I screwed? Or did I somehow confirm the kill by accident?

Edit: This is my first time playing Origins, I played Odyssey before this so I'm familiar with the confirming kills system but I don't know the significance of it in this game.

Valhalla Proves that a Assassin's Creed RPG could work, Albeit with a few changes. [SPOILER]

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 07:39 PM PST

This post has some spoilers for Valhalla. Regarding the ending.

So I finished Valhalla yesterday, I took some time to process the things that happened and it dawned on me that Valhalla just set up the perfect foundation for RPG games in the AC franchise.

I am not going to spoil much, but now that we know that they are looking for different timelines, we could have games where even the modern day story could diverge and the justification could be that this is simply the reader looking for a solution. We may not even need an animus.

Now that the story is sorted and Ubisoft has made it abundantly clear that they aren't moving away from the RPGs, I would say that a few things if incorporated into these games will really sort out the issues and make it so that both the RPG fans are happy and the fans of the older games are happy as well.

    1. Change the Movement system:Look, I love Valhalla. I love that they kinda focused on parkour again. But the system right now is too rudimentary and basic and focusing on it just showed us how horrible it is. Personally I would love a system that is mechanically similar to AC1 but with smoother animations and a dedicated climb down button like Unity. In my opinion that would be the ultimate combination.
    2. Focus on stealth:Again Valhalla was seeking to right the wrongs of Origin/Odyssey and only ended up showing how bad the systems are. These new games weren't made with stealth in mind and it shows. The few elements of social stealth that they did manage to squeeze in, don't work at all. The combat is fine now but in the next iterations the focus needs to be on stealth again. Not only will it make the game better, it will also make the game unique as there are not many RPGs with proper stealth systems, if any at all.Plus Stealth could also be incorporated into the RPG system, Things like blending, Detection, Special types of social skills could become part of a skill tree. Its a little difficult to explain what I mean in text(cuz I suck at writing-but on the other hand, Video Idea! yeah!)
    3. Go full RPG:So far Ubisoft has merely tested the waters. One could say that Odyssey was the first true RPG but one would be wrong. The consequences of your choices didn't nearly have as many impacts and of course the skill tree was not very RPG-like. and in this regard Valhalla is actually far worse. So at this point I would much rather have them leap into the RPG-stack (See what I did there) and truly embrace the games being an RPG.

Well these are all what I think, I would love to know what y'all think.

Sorry for the long post, I am off to make a video now.

    So far, the Twitter channel below has always been able to correctly announce a Valhalla update about a week in advance. While the previous updates only increased the total game size by a couple of GB, the upcoming update seems to be much bigger and landing next week;

    Is game's AI still broken?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 11:52 PM PST

When the game first came out I heard the AI (especially in the late areas) was acting stupidly. About 3 weeks ago a patch came out saying they fixed some NPC behavior issues but I'm not entirely certain about trusting Ubisoft so, I'm asking you guys. Is AI still bad or they fixed that?

[SPOILERS] A few questions about Valhalla ending.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 11:16 AM PST

    • How has Basim's body not decomposed

    • Why doesn't he always have to hold the staff of Hermes?

    • How did he leave the grey; is it the same as how Juno left when Desmond sacrificed himself?

    • Why is The Reader (Desmond) glowing and then Layla after she sacrifices herself?

    • Was it the Global Aurora Borealis Device that Layla used?

    • If it was the Global Borealis Device that Layla used, how did Basim get it?

I have finished my first AC game

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 03:30 AM PST

I have finished my very first Assassin's Creed game, Assassin's Creed 2, after 43 hours (I know its too long my hands were strained af) and wow.. I have no words. The game is beautifully done. The portrayal of Ezio's development from a brash teenager to a brave and disciplined assassin of the Creed is well-executed.

There is also a wide selection of weapons to use and the cities were not overwhelming to be in.

The game exceeded my expectations. I already knew that it is a good game but upon playing it, I didn't expect it to be THIS good. Makes me regret that I did not purchase the whole trilogy. AC2 is definitely an S-tier game.

let's take a moment to acknowledge what syndicate got right

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 06:41 AM PST

I'm not gonna sit here and tell you syndicate was an amazing game and it doesn't get enough love. in fact it's my least favorite ac title right above odyssey (if you even consider odyssey an AC title). with that said, if I learned one thing from Unity's launch and its growth in popularity over the years, it's that it is important to let the dev team know what they got right and what they got wrong. I enjoyed a lot of things in Unity and it just sucks that they got rid of it all because it didn't get enough attention on launch. even in the slightly worse games of the franchise there are good elements, and I'm writing this post in order to let the dev team know what I want to see more of. if you have your own personal list I would be glad to read it in the comments and I hope to start something good for the community and the games we all love.

    • I really liked the stealth mechanics in Syndicate. the fact that you could use the environment to your advantage and the tools you had at your disposal were really cool. It was the first time that I realized the value of a whistling mechanic and I appreciate it. The double assassinations felt extremely cool and cinematic as well.
    • The fact that the main character only had their hood on while in stealth, although it didn't look as cool, was very realistic and understandable and I liked it.
    • the customization while being a step back from Unity, was decent. just to be clear I'm talking about the different outfits and capes, not the weapon types. The outfits although quite limited compared to the other titles, all looked very good and adequate to the setting.
    • Jacob and Evie were both solid characters with their unique personalities and even though their relationship wasn't explored as much as it should have, their interactions and contrasts of opinion were very interesting to see. Much better than the new "choose your gender" deal.
    • the DLCs were good. Jack the ripper in particular.
    • The missions in which you got to play as Lydia Frye were good additions. I'm not sure if it was a DLC or just regular sidequests, but I think it was a very interesting approach towards the side content.

so this is all I could think of. let me know if you're opinion is different than mine and/or if I missed anything.

Have an amazing day Assassins. Vittoria Agli Assassini

Eivor coming in a close second to Ezio???

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 03:07 PM PST

I have played almost every Ac to date (all main games). I know we had three games with Ezio and watched him develop, but Eivor (to me) has even surpassed Edward Kenway who only barely pushes out Bayek. However in terms of me liking him and bonding with a character Eivor just seems just as unique as Ezio. I'll be honest I started playing the game expecting a rude, cold-hearted, iron fisted Viking …. but that is far from the case with Eivor. I'm impressed with this guy.

In the fate of Atlantis dlc you see Poseidon and he has his trident it glows like other pieces of eden it is said to give god like powers to the wielded and it was wielded by someone who was literally a god in some cultures and maybe when kassandra destroys Atlantis at the end of it that is when it is broken into the three peices wich are then discovered and brought to their respective resting places.

Is the Season Pass for AC Odyssey a subscription or a one time purchase?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 06:05 PM PST

There's a sale currently on the game, I've bought the base game before without the DLCs having roughly 45 hours in the game right now. I'm confused about the season pass, is it like multiplayer games where you subscribe each season and expire or is it just like a GOTY addition of The Witcher 3 where they gave you Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone?
