Should it be possible to play an entire AC game using stealth only?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 10:55 AM PST

Not mandatory but if a player wants to, I do think it would be great to allow us to play the series like a full on stealth game like Thief. The series used to use combat mostly for when we screwed up and we had to deal with not being careful. Now, while Valhalla handles stealth miles better then the last couple of games, I do wish mandatory combat sections could be avoided. There's so many games which are nothing but fighting, we could pick from a million of those, and I don't know about you guys but I play Assasin's Creed for the stealth, not combat.

Ubisoft is about to go live in 15 hours, with something about Black Flag

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 06:09 PM PST

Just saw this on their YouTube channel, apparently they are going to go live with the title:

"Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag: Sailing The High Seas and Singing Shanties".

    Description:

Years before sea shanties became the internet's most popular trend, the Ubisoft News team was sailing the Caribbean seas, pillaging ships, and singing "Where Am I To Go M'Johnnies" in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Now they're back behind the wheel of the Jackdaw to capitalize on the trend they arguably started. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is available on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and available through Ubisoft+.

I wish there was a bit more of a Viking experience

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:08 AM PST

Don't get me wrong I really really enjoy the game, the visuals are great and the gameplays fun

One thing I can't help thinking though is in my opinion there isn't enough to make you really feel like a Viking. a lot of the time youre spend in English towns speaking to other English people, getting rid of corrupt leaders and fighting other people's battles. I wish there was a lot more focus on actually being a Viking.

They could have beefed out the camp a bit more. I wish there was Vikings just walking around the camp, partying and drinking at night, playing games. it feels a bit empty - there's never even anyone in the main longhouse.Think RDR2. You can pretty much complete the game with just a blacksmith and shop. the rest is for aesthetics.

A bit more diversity of the story arch's would have been nice too, maybe eivor could have gotten off on the wrong foot with one of the counties and gone to war with them. Maybe there could have been battles against other Viking clans too (other than the first one) that you bump into whilst roaming England, or that invade your camp for resources.

I hope in the next AC, they really focus on what it is to be a Prussian, or gladiator, or Mongol, or whatever. Sometimes it lacks a bit of intimacy.

A Modern Day Assassin's Creed Game

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:39 PM PST

Here recently, I've been thinking it would be really cool to have an Assassin's Creed game set in modern day New York (or close to it). I've heard that with modern day technology, some people fear it would be too much like Watch Dogs, etc; but honestly, a GTA-esque experience with AC Unity level parkour and climbing mechanics is my dream game. It would be so much fun to free run across the rooftops of a big modern day city. Thoughts?

AC:V - Constantly drums and churning music thumps

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 09:05 PM PST

I am not sure how to describe the music as it's not a "song" more like ambient drums and churning rhythm. It won't stop. Goes through cut scenes, on boat, off boat, fighting, etc. Anyone else have this?

The revelation in valhalla opens the door for so many interesting plot points [Spoilers]

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 10:47 PM PST

Reincarnation is now not exclusive to Aita but any isu in the franchise. Valhalla has us play as a Reincarnation of an ISU and makes it work but thats far from the only plot point that they could do. As some ideas...

    • Side character in the past storyline reveals to be a sage midway through the game and is pretty open about it to the MP making the main character know more about the ISU than pretty much any other historical character in history.

    • Side character is a Sage but doesn't give in to whoever he's a reincarnation of for a while and when he does he becomes a maniac siding with the villains, forcing you to fight a once friend.

    • We have NO reason to believe humans can't use the Reincarnation devices as well, what if the MP finds an old ISU vault that allows for Reincarnation through some way or another. Than is revealed to have reincarnated into the modern day.

    • Other option main characrer again uses the Reincarnation devices but doesn't reincarnate into the modern day but a different historical period. so we can play in two timeliness separated by centuries as the same character just in a different body. This could happen through separate games.

    • This ones out there and I get if people don't like it but just as an idea, what if people gain the ability to reincarnate into the past, I don't think its to far out of the realm of possibility that the ISU created some device that could do that. This means the modern character doesn't just relive his ancestors memories but actively travels back in time, maybe the modern day assassins need a ISU device that was destroyed in the past but the modern day character sacrifices themselves to travel back in time and find the device, and than store it in safe keeping for the modern day assassins to find it. Again I get if this is to outthere for someone's tastes but I think it could be cool.

Lore Question: Who created the hidden blades ?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 07:16 PM PST

I know Darius was the first to use it but it didn't say he invented it. The assassin creed wiki also doesn't say who This is my personal thought but I think the hidden blade is an Isu weapon or better yet a human made weapon that was used against the Isu.

So, I started playing AC 2 for the first time

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 10:31 AM PST

...and I want to finish the entire series! I played only the first game like ten years ago, so I just quickly rewatched the story on youtube, and now I am playing its sequel. The gameplay kinda sucks, but the story and characters are amazing! I can't wait to see what will happen next! The story seems interesting so far, not sure much what is going on there, looks like some family drama to me, but the characters are killing it. I hope the rest of the series is at least this good in the story telling :D What is the best game in the series in your opinion?

Ideas for the Paris and Ireland DLC

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 07:37 PM PST

I, for one, can't wait for the Valhalla DLCs and out of the 2, the Paris one is definitely the one I am anticipating the most. With these new DLC maps, there will no doubt be new gear and I would love to see more Viking-like outfits, and a frankish crossbow as a possible weapon. The Viking like outfits would be nice, and I long for more sets like the gallowgatch and berserker sets, and the crossbow is accurate (time period wise) and could be implemented smoothly. The multiple types of arrows could be edited, and once Paris is visited then crossbow bolts could be looted. Plus, crossbows are really cool anyways.

I made this a discussion because I want to hear some ideas that others have, or wishes that they would want in the upcoming expansion(s).

    Melee resistance band light/heave resistance.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 12:34 AM PST

Hey guys I just wanted to know If Malay resistance would be better than putting light resistance and heavy resistance on armor. Wouldn't mainly resistance cover both?

Right now I have pieces that have a heavy resistance @ 3.3 but melee is at 3.5

Would an AC game set in the far east (China or Japan) make for a good "old-school" AC? Or would it play better in the Origins/Valhalla style?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 01:57 PM PST

I've been thinking a lot about where the series is headed next and I know a game set in either feudal Japan or perhaps China seem like some of the most popular suggestions. My question is: would these be good settings for an "return to basics" next-gen AC game that many of us have been clamoring for? By that I mean, dense urban environment, sophisticated parkour mechanics, heavy focus on stealth, and a strong narrative focus on the Assassins vs Templar conflict. If not these settings, then what setting do you think would be ideal for that type of game in the future?

Latest upd@te corrects Opal issues & partially corrects treasure hoard issues.

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 06:50 AM PST

    Console: Xbox One X

    THIS POST CONTAINS UNMARKED SPOILERS.

If you've collected nearly all of the opals except for four (due to glitches) opals in England, it appears this latest patch has fixed it.

Grantebridgescire: hut northeast of Walden. Moved from shelf to bench.

Hemthorpe, Snotinghamscire: falls location by longhouse. Opal no longer located under animal skull.

West of Stoneburgh, Snotinghamscire: Previously 13 m above ground making it unreachable. Now located on ground where it's been previously marked.

Sherwood Forest, Snotinghamscire: Located approximately 317 m west of dock fast travel point this Opal previously wasn't appearing in its location.

Other: treasure hoard map issues. Still not fully fixed: two hoard treasure maps. Both items can be picked up but the maps do not clear inventory which allows you to basically mine the locations for XP as it'll act as if the treasure is still there. You won't get anything except XP.

Oxenefordscire hoard map that's located in the well beneath the tree with the ruined house. (Northeast of Readingum Abbey, across Thames River.) Prior, treasure could be found in the well but map wouldn't clear. Issue persists.

Eurvicscire hoard map that's located at Gotafrid Fair-Robes villa Prior, for some, this location treasure didn't appear at all. Now appears but map may not clear inventory.

NOTE these were problems I was having prior to today's update. I know others had the same issues. This does not include other problems other people have had or fishing issues I have had (haven't checked that yet to see if that's fixed so I can finish my fishing quests).

The Gothic set is out now

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:41 AM PST

Can't see anyone posting about this yet so I thought I'd let you know. I know people including myself are getting a bit concerned on how many of these packs are getting released but it's a cool looking pack nonetheless.

Something I did for a franchise I really enjoy

[Spoiler] Fighting some characters throughout the game is very difficult

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 04:16 PM PST

Some fights difficult... Some fights very difficult...

Just fought Suttungr... Wow! Why they make some of those fights so difficult. It makes you want to lower the settings to an easier level. And you should be able to skip right back to the fight after you die instead of going through some narrative. On a side note: when you get your boat out in the English channel near cliffs of Dover... You can get your boat airborne on some of those waves.

Perform Kill By Using a Light Shield - AC Valhalla

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 07:29 PM PST

How? This is one of the new challenges and I primarily use light shield and I'm not making any progress. I've tried just getting kills with it equipped, parrying until they are dead, and blocking before kills. Nothing works.

Final rating of AC Valhalla. Spoiler: I'm not happy

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 11:05 PM PST

I had 2 major glitches that made me lose a total of 20 hours and once I finished the game it felt as if the game was still in development. As if I had stumbled upon they're most recent work. Overall rating; 4/10 ONLY because Eivor is a good character and combat was interesting

Valhalla patch 1.1.1, now is the time to pick the game up?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 01:45 PM PST

Hi all, picked up Odyssey last year and had a blast and am a big fan of Vikings so obviously this was a definite pick-up but clashed with some big life stuff as well as Cyberpunk, that and it sounded like there were a load of bugs on launch. I have put some time into Cyberpunk only to decide to revisit it when its in a better state so was thinking that now, along with the latest big patch, is perfect for picking Valhalla up?

I restarted odyssey and had a couple questions

    Posted: 14 Jan 2021 06:40 PM PST

I love this game.. recently hit max level and wanted to restart all over..

    1. When restarting all ancient tablets reset and the map is valid again right.. I know orixulim doesn't because its account bound..

    2. Purchased gear from the store when does that unlock??

This is not new game plus.. this is a brand new playthrough starting at level 1.
