    AC Marathon 2020 - Day 52

Legacy of the First Blade, Episode 3: Part 2 - 'The Heir of Memories'

Hello again, Assassins! Today we're still working on eliminating the Order of the Ancients. We meet with Gergis, an Order member, and have to decide his fate. Then we cause some trouble in order to flush Amorges out and kill him. In the end, we'll be briefly reunited with a few who are special to us as we wrap up the Legacy of the First Blade dlc. And finally, we're on to become the Heir of Memories as we complete the intro quest to the Fate of Atlantis DLC.

Today's Targets: Gergis, Amorges, Keepsakes of someone special, Cultist guards, Three Symbols

    ODYSSEY NOTES

Please note, it is strongly recommended to play on New Game Plus. It'll be easier to keep up with the fast pace of the Marathon not having to worry as much about resources, money & gear, and leveling up your character and ship.

During the Marathon, we will be playing the family story, and the First Civ story. We will not be covering the elimination of all the Cultists, only the ones as defeated during the other two story lines.

I finally finished this working hidden blade

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:20 PM PST

Maybe this has already been addressed but whats the deal with the horrid cape physics we’ve seen for Valhalla?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:46 PM PST

Every video i've seen the cape physics of cloak physics or whatever you wanna call them are absolutely awful. They don't look natural or fluent or organic at all it looks like its glitching out. I've heard people say they're defs gonna fix it by release but i've been watching gameplay consistently for a while now and every build the cape is broken. Ngl my immersion will be pretty ruined if my cape is always glitching out through my weapons and body constantly.

Origins seemed to be higher quality than Odyssey, but the new RPG gameplay seems more immersive.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 07:37 PM PST

I've been recently playing through Origins and I have to say, this game was top tier. Seriously. I've played through most of the old games, and Origins felt the most like them out of the recent ones. Don't get me wrong, I love Odyssey as well, but it didn't match up to Origins imo. I'm wondering, do you guys think we should have more games like Origins, or do you like the new style like Odyssey? I like the RPG style (more gameplay and the choices are fun to make) but I think the quality of Origins was better. Just curious to see your opinions on this subject.

What if we got a "parkour upgrade system"?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 09:55 PM PST

Maybe doing some kind of missions that are unlocked through the story could grant you new passives and visual animations to the parkour system. Nem jump, descend, avoid up/down animation, and climb faster, impulse, wall eject or jump from bigger heights as passives (Eagle blade at some world chest, pls), "learn" and develop your parkour through the game.

In Valhalla they could have used the opportunity of Eivor being an initiate to the Hidden Ones to apply this.

    What do you guys think?

I actually really enjoyed Assassins Creed Syndicate

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:22 AM PST

The game got mixed opinions from the AC fan base, but I really enjoyed it.

I loved the setting, Victorian London worked really well. It also felt like an assassins creed game, compared to the likes of Origins and Odyssey.

    Happy Halloween Fellow Assassin's!

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 12:44 AM PDT

Beaten my first Assassin's Creed game, Black Flag, last week.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 06:27 AM PST

I was vaguely familiar with certain aspects of the AC series like the Animus and the historical backdrops, but was never interested nor had the correct game system to play them. It wasn't until I saw a playthrough of Black Flag. Had so much fun playing Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag on the Switch. Glad I changed my mind. Loved the story and characters especially Edward Kenway. He has such an amazing character arc. Also, the historical backdrop of the Caribbean during the age of piracy appeals to me because I always loved history while in school. The shanties are awesome as well.

[Spoilers] Some armor sets of AC Valhalla from the Art Book

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 02:44 AM PST

I love that Valhalla has finisher animations for enemies that aren’t the last in the group, unlike Origins and Odyssey. This, paired with the new stun attacks, will serve to make combat seem just as cinematic as the old combat system, while maintaining the strategic nature of the newer one.

AC Rogue's story lacks a lot of nuance.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:00 PM PST

I feel like the plot in Assassin's Creed games is one of the main factors that keep me interested in the series and its quality is usually what makes me say if I like the game or not at the end of the day.

When I heard I was gonna play as a templar in Rogue, I was stoked honestly because I knew there was a lot of potential to show how peace through order can be sustainable and that assassins can be as corrupt as templars have shown to be.

After being almost done with the story (which is way too short to generate strong emotions or send a message anyways imo), I can say I'm utterly disappointed. I think the fans wanted to see a nuanced story with both good and bad men fighting on both sides and to be given the knowledge to question the assassins' creed, but instead we just got a complete 360 on who are the absolute bad guys and whose actions aren't redeemable. I was fine with the Ezio trilogy making us believe the Templars were absolute evil, but then don't market your game as a nuanced experience if now the assassins are fine with gasing cities, killing civilians, extortion and even fucking slavery. I mean the assassins have been freeing slaves countless times and now the gangs harbour slavers. It feels like the side you're on will always be holy. Black and white storytelling like that makes me feel like Ubisoft thinks I'm a bloody toddler.

It pains me to say this, but even Assassins Creed III (which is still a worse game in my opinion) had a more nuanced conflict between templars and assassins. Maybe the story was dull and boring most of the time but at least I felt something when Haytham got killed. Idk, maybe I was younger too I guess.

What do you guys think ?

AC4 Black Flag multiplayer is still a lot of fun.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 05:17 AM PST

My college assignment was due, sooo I decided to install AC4 for a little nostalgia. Jumped into the mp and it is still a lot fun. Here's why:

    1. The setting and music. Jumping and killing around the Caribbean as a pirate or a cutthroat is amazing. The music (esp. wolfpack) adds so much to it.

    2. Shenanigans. Killing someone who just killed someone or stunning someone in the chaos. All dem abilities.

    3. Wolfpack. The sync kill is still my favourite thing in the entire mp.

It gets a little repetitive, true. But I still miss it in the later titles. London would've been a great mp playground.

Was going full rpg on assassin's creed a good thing and successful?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:29 AM PST

I was recently informed by a guy on this subreddit that old formula fans are in minority and rpg formula was the best way ubisoft could go, is this true?

Funny start for me to Origins game

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 03:21 PM PST

So I've played many of the AC games but still didn't play Origins so I bought it today. One of the first quests available is to kill one of the 5 targets the Ibis (AKA Medunamen) but says you have to be a higher level before you do that so I do a side quest instead. The first quest takes me to the Temple of Amun and while I'm there I hear some priests in captive so Im like alright let me get these home boys out while I'm here. Wouldn't you know it I accidentally come upon a sleeping guy and confirm the kill 😂 just thought it was funny to kill one of these 5 targets (is there really only 5? Odyssey had so many cult members to kill :/)within the first 10 minutes of playing

Are their significant similarities between the assassin's brotherhood and Sikhism?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 04:52 PM PST

I've had a few thoughts on whether there are several similarities between the Sikh religion and the assassin's brotherhood--i.e beliefs and formation etc If anyone wants to hear my take please post.

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 11:37 AM PST

After that one episode I have not seen the second one. Did Ubisoft just forget about them? I mean, it is some basic staff, but still useful to new players.

Toggle Time - how would you feel about being able to opt in or opt out of the modern day story?

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 08:36 PM PST

Let's face it, the modern day story has never been quite the driving force for the series here. It's the narrative framing sure but after the disastrous conclusion in AC3 it's never recovered. While I'm sure some like the whole Layla story going on I'd rather them just drop the whole thing or just let players who don't want it be able to opt out.

I think it would be extremely telling if they let you opt in or out as they could generate Analytics as to how many people actually want to see it. My guess at this point is it's 10-30% of purchasers care about the modern day section.

While I can completely concede if you like it awesome, I'm not trying to take that away from you but I'd at least prefer to just not be bothered with it.
