Assassin’s creed Syndicate had the most immersive and alive city of any game in the franchise.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 07:12 PM PDT

Yeah yeah I know, we all appreciate Syndicate more now. This isn't a post to talk about how we were so mean to it. (Not me, arguably my favorite in the series). However, London is the most ambitious map ever. Just walking the streets today, I saw a man getting a shoeshine 5 feet from a guy getting a shave. A quick turn around and I spot a couple dancing to street music. Bowing to each other and spinning. The distant chirp of a child selling newspapers along with the chatter of the citizens really just put a smile on my face. This is what I want. I don't need a map that takes 3 hours to traverse, just give me a smaller map with an alive city, like this game, and I'll buy every installment without thought. I loved Paris, still do, but London is a step up. The city actually feels real. Like you would see this everyday. It blows me away and I'm so glad people are giving this game a second chance.

The region of England the majority of Valhalla's demos have taken place in, East Anglia specifically, is where I live.

That giant black dog you have a boss fight against, Black Shuck, is a myth originating from a village literally 30 minutes from where I live. 😱😱😱

Also there's a medieval castle in my newest town and you bet I'm gonna try and find it in game. 😂😂😂

Returning to Origins after having fully completing Odyssey

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 03:18 PM PDT

I know this topic has been beaten to death harder than Bayek beat Medunamum with the orb but I always enjoy AC discussion. I played Origins on release and absolutely fell in love with the setting and characters, but had not gone back to it since. Playing through Odyssey it at first seemed much of the same, with some improvements to combat and some new gameplay elements. I got fairly burned out on Odyssey, even though I enjoyed it overall. In preparation for Valhalla I have gone back to Origins and am blown away by how much more DETAILED and polished it is over Odyssey. The writing and voice acting are in my opinion, vastly superior to Odyssey's, and even the graphics and visuals seem much better. Everything feels much more real and grounded, it is on a level of immersion that Odyssey just can't reach for me. I am constantly blown away by the attention to detail everywhere. Greece was gorgeous, but Egypt just feels so much more alive and vibrant to me.

It makes me that much more excited for Valhalla, even though I regrettably won't be able to get it on release. I can't wait to see and explore the next immersive and beautiful world the Origins team has created.

When I first played Origins, I hardly paid attention to the story. Now, after a second playthrough, Bayek has become my favorite AC protagonist. Which protagonist has grown on you the most?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 09:08 PM PDT

I've played all the AC's multiple times. My favorite used to be Edward. I fucking loved Edward Kenway from the second I started up Black Flag. When I played Origins for the first time back in 2017, I was way more into the open world aspect and kind of just skimmed the story (wasn't nearly as into the lore or AC universe back then) and saw Bayek as a grunty mystery man (think Connor Kenway) and didn't fully appreciate the lore and complexity behind the character.

After playing through Origins for another round and a half, I have to say Bayek has completely won me over. The wonderful complexity and kindness Ubi wrote into his character go so well with his purpose. His voice actor (shout out to Abubukar Salim) is fucking outstanding. Bayek is a man who goes through a long, painful journey, and the emotion his VA is able to convey is brilliant. There are so many interesting things about him. To me, he feels very human. Very real.

So, who's grown on you the most?

If you’re in doubt about Eivor becoming an assassin we pretty much got confirmation he will at 13:20 in this new interview, his journey will be similar to Edward!

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but getting Einar Selvik for the soundtrack was an amazing decision.

    Posted: 22 Oct 2020 12:06 AM PDT

I never even knew Wardruna existed until I looked this guy up and I've been listening to them for the past week. They're just sooo good!

Does anyone have any favorite songs by Einar/Wardruna? Personally I like Isa, Hrafnsmál (which is one of the songs he did for Valhalla), and Helvegen the most, but I'm sure I'll find many more that I like.

I am replaying Assassins Creed Syndicate four years later and it's awesome

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 02:49 PM PDT

Honestly, the game is just great. London is such an awesome place, really well recreated. The parkour is so satisfying, i really miss huge towns like this where you can go through the roofs. I love as well the cutscenes, they have motion capture and have a lot more personality and credibility compared to Origins and Oddysey and the combat is great, you really feel like an assassin, with nice animations and combat flow

There are some flaws of course, I don't like the lack of character customization (I hate Jacob's hat lol) , but I am having tons of fun and I really miss the old formula

I wish Assassins Creed would come back to this

Just started playing origins and wow I’m loving it!

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 11:51 PM PDT

I played many of the Assassins Creed games 2 being my favorite but I recently purchased Origins and Odyssey on sale in preparation for Valhalla and wow I can't believe it took me this long to play it. I'm a huge fan of how they redid the games formula and moved it to an rpg with loot. Combat is fun. Although I really hate how climbing seems to be way way easier but that's a small gripe.

I'm still very early on like lvl 12 but I am very invested in the main character. Good game can't believe I waited till now to play. Looking forward to hanging out the next two!

New Uplay replacement with Valhalla rewards?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 10:15 PM PDT

So I've been playing all the AC games and got a ton of Uplay points to spend on everything that Valhalla would have, but did they just announce a replacement? I took a look at the new Ubisoft app thing and can't quite tell what it is. Is it replacing Uplay? Will all my points be meaningless? Anyone know whats going on with that?

Potential Historical Characters that we could meet in Ireland and Paris

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 02:24 PM PDT

May contain history spoilers that could thus be spoilers in the game.

I made a post a few months ago which provided a detailed list of some of the historical characters that we could potentially meet in the base game of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Quite a few of the characters from that list have since been announced to be in the game, so now I'm trying my luck again with a few interesting characters that we could meet in the two recently announced DLC.

    Wrath of the Druids DLC
My guess is that the base game of Assassin's Creed Valhalla is going to end in 878 after the decisive Battle of Edington between King Alfred and Guthrum the Old. Because of this, I personally think that this DLC is going to take place in at some point between 879 and 882. Based on the trailer it looks like this DLC will take place in Dublin and the city's surrounding countryside.

Bárid, Sichfrith and Sitriuc, sons of Ivar the Boneless
Bárid mac Ímair is believed to have been the oldest son of Ivar the Boneless and was King of Dublin from 873 until his death in 881. He had two younger brothers, Sichfrith and Sitriuc, both of whom would also become Kings of Dublin later on.

Flann Sinna, High King of Ireland and King of Mide
To the north of the relatively small Kingdom of Dublin lies the Kingdom of Mide, which during this time was ruled a man named Flann Sinna. Certain annals also mention him as being the High King of Ireland. Quite a title!

Domnall mac Muirecáin, King of Leinster
To the south of the Kingdom of Dublin was the Kingdom of Leinster, which was ruled by a man named Domnall back in the early 880's.

Obviously, I don't believe that this DLC is going to include all of Dublin, Leinster and Mide, but most of Dublin and the maybe a southern region of Mide and a northern region of Leinster could probably be doable.

    The Siege of Paris DLC
This DLC will (for obvious reasons) take place between 885 and 886. The trailer made it sound like the entire DLC would be set within the walls of Paris, but I personally think that some of the surrounding countryside will be explorable.

Charles the Fat, Emperor of the Carolingian Empire
During the Siege of Paris, Charles was the King of Francia. During the couple of months of the siege, Charles was in Italy and thus the defense of the city fell to other commanders. He did however arrive in at Paris in 886 and fought and defeated the besieging Viking forces.

    Odo, Count of Francia
While Charles the Fat was chilling in Italy, the defense of Paris fell to Odo who basically had no men to defend the city, yet he managed to hold them off until help arrived.

Hugh the Abott and Joscelin, Bishop of Paris
Two men who prominently aided Odo in defending Paris from the Viking forces.

    Rollo of Normandy
A Norwegian or Danish Viking who participated in Siege of Paris. He was in charge of the besieging Viking forces during the last six months of the siege after the other Viking leaders left. He was eventually defeated by Charles the Fat.

    Sigfred (Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye)
So, Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye is (like his supposed father Ragnar Lothbrok) is not actually believed to be a historical person. Many scholars do however believe that Sigfred (who is mentioned as being co-king of Denmark with his brother Halfdan (yes, the same Halfdan who appears in the AC: Valhalla)) is the historical prototype of Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye. Personally, I think it would be pretty interesting if the writers chose to actually turn Sigfred into Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye in their interpretation of this historical event. Historically, Sigfred was the main commander of the Viking forces.

    Sinric
Not much is known about this guy, but he was the other main commander of the Viking forces along with Sigfred – and like Sigfred, he also left abandoned the siege six months before Charles arrived and defeated Rollo.

So, that's a few characters that we might very well meet in the DLC's. Let me know if you guys know of any other historical characters that could make for some interesting stories.

Let's be reminded of old one before the new

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 06:37 AM PDT

So I know there are those that aren't for being a viking in the upcoming game. Saying that they don't have the stealth skills needed to be an assassin and are known killers. Well, while that might be true, I'd like to point to another drunk, sea faring killer who plundered and raided from people before and after becoming an assassin. The best character of the franchise's best game: Edward Kenway, the pirate.

Edward Kenway, the man who did what he could to get rich. Who plundered ships, raided plantations, murdered countless people, attacked forts all before becoming an assassin.

So why are we judging Eivor before release on not being a real assassin when we already have someone who's very similar to the viking?

There is no point in theorising about this franchise anymore.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2020 09:07 AM PDT

List of the most important cut(presumably) story concepts.

    -- Eve

    -- The Blood vials

-- Juno(this one wasn't cut but ended in the comics)

-- Erudito(only mentioned after all these years in the heir of memories quest in Odyssey)

-- The boxes?(not sure about this one)

And these last few days it was confirmed by Darby that Juno was lying about Desmond and Clay being with her in the Grey (someone could argue that this wasn't cut because it was always intended to be like that)

AND now Darby just confirmed that the Hidden twelve idea was abandoned. (Juno once mentioned that the Assassins must die before they find her hidden twelve and that samples must be collected to revive them. Darby revealed that these hidden twelve would be Isu/Egyptian gods in Origins but this idea never got past the conception stage...)

What a shitshow. It's time for a reboot imo :( What do you think?
