I hope unique assassinations make a return.

One of my favorite parts about Unity and Syndicate was the unique assassination opportunities that were given to you so that you could kill your target in style. Since Valhalla has a more original Assassin's Creed feel to it, I'm hoping that unique assassinations come back.

Einar Selvik for the uninitiated and why his involvement should excite you

    Posted: 11 May 2020 01:38 PM PDT

Since the first whispers of an AC game with a Nordic setting I have been hoping he would be involved (doubly so since our main character is also from Norway). The man is a modern day skald and we are in for a real treat, highly recommend checking out the comment sections for lyric translations and interpretations

He was the drummer for Gorgoroth for a few years before forming and fronting the group Wardruna, a few favourites of mine: Runaljod, Odal, Helvegen, Raido, Ingwar

He's been providing and contributing to the score of the show Vikings: for a real banger and a more somber piece

The Norwegian government even commissioned an album by him and fellow countryman Ivar Bjornson for the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution

If they make another game like BlackFlag. Here are a few things I think would be good in it without changing the game entirely.

    Posted: 11 May 2020 03:25 PM PDT

    1) Morale system- the biggest thing for Captains is keeping their crew's morale up. If they added a moral bar it would make it realistic and more immersive. Getting stuff like rum and successfully boarding ships with low casualties can increase moral and docking at friendly locations and resting their will slowly Increase it.

If the moral is too low. Men will start running away and leaving, and don't be as effected in combat which therefore increases casualties.

And also, it won't be something that the player has to constantly check. It will decrease slowly, but other factors will make it decrease faster.

2nd) Reputation system - it would be cool if there was a reputation system and you can earn respect from different factions which can be beneficial. Eg

Pirates - less prices for buying crew. Friendly pirates will assist you in naval combat.

    Merchants/Traders/Harbour Masters - Discounts for certain products/upgrades.

Assassins - Will assist you when facing enemies when you are close to their bureaus.

Stuff like doing side quests for these factions, and regularly killing their enemies will Increase you rep with them. Enemies : pirates Vs Spanish/British navy/army, Assassins Vs Templars, merchants Vs bandits, smugglers.

3rd ) capturing plantations and keeping them to get resources. Also, having good rep with slaves will increase the production.

4th ) companions - on sea. It would be cool if you can get ships from your fleet to follow you around. Will be useful in naval combat.

The only thing I hope is fixed in Valhalla... Matching NPC movement speed

    Posted: 11 May 2020 01:10 AM PDT

Before you read on, this thread is a bit of Joke, no it isn't that important, but yes it is still something a tad annoying for me after 13 years of AC games. It is a quality of life feature I hope is added.

I'm playing Odyssey again just to get my AC fix and it reminded me how you can pretty much never run or walk at the same speed of the NPC you are following. It is a constant:

Stop, run, stop, run, *You ran too far*, run back, stop, run.

I remember that Revelations tried something where if you were close to the NPC you were following it would pull you in so you would match speeds, I don't know why this was never kept.

This issue is just one of those very small things that has never been addressed properly in Assassin's Creed and if they were to fix one thing, I hope it is this!

    Unity's story is uncomplete, unended

    Posted: 11 May 2020 08:39 PM PDT

For those who forgot what happens at the end of Unity : - Germain explains Arno that he provoked the Revolution to make sure people see how chaotic is freedom to make them prefer order (which is Templars' goal, peace by order while Assassins want freedom), and also to allow Templars to infiltrate French society through the influence of capitalism. - Arno gets an Apple of Eden in Dead Kings and becomes mefiant towards Napoleon, who was his ally and friend. - Strangely, we see Arno coming with this same Napoleon hide Germain's body years after the end. - Also, a cooperation mission happens in 1800 (6 years after the end and Dead Kings) where Assassins have to protect Napoleon, who is at time already the ruler of France.

So many questions were voluntary teased by Ubisoft, but never answered : - How did Arno knew he had to hide Germain's body ? - Why did he reconciliate with Napoleon while he became mefiant towards him because of his lust of power ? - How did Arno came back into the Assassins that he was banned from in 1793 ? - Did the Assassins gave the Apple sent to Egypt to Napoleon or did Napoleon betray the Assassins (we know Napoleon went to Egypt around 1800, and that he got an Apple) ? - Was Napoleon an ally of the Assassins (he was in 1800, but was he still after ?), a Templars (he looks to be the new order Germain wanted) or a simple opportunist using both sides to gain power ?

All we know about Arno after is that he was still alive in 1808 because he was mentionned by Napoleon's journal, year where the major event is French Empire taking Spain.

Now my main question is : Why Ubisoft ? Why teasing so much for finally so few ? The relationship brother enemies Arno / Napoleon has so much potential, so much that I even have the impression that Unity was just a long introduction to it. So many questions left without answers.

I’ve been a big Assassin’s Creed fan since AC2. Tonight, I’m starting AC1 for the very first time.

    Posted: 11 May 2020 10:00 PM PDT

I played Assassin's Creed 3 at launch, and was fascinated. I went back and played 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, then back to 3. After that, I've since played every single game on launch night. However, for whatever reason, I never got back to playing AC1. Just wanted to chart my journey here and share my excitement about seeing where this all began! I know it'll be clunky compared to modern games, but I don't mind. Because I love Assassin's Creed.

    Have a good night everyone!

What's your favorite part of the Present Day storyline?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 06:03 PM PDT

It's the main thing I miss about the new games, the main reason I was so drawn to the series (that and the attention to historical settings).

For me, I miss the Desmond missions in Assassin's Creed III. It was so cool to see an Assassin in the field in Present Day, and it made me long for the time that we may get to scale a skyscraper or use a hidden blade in a merging crowd on a crosswalk. A time we haven't seen yet.

What are some of your favorite parts of the modern storyline throughout the series?

Do you remember those screenshots and mo cap trailer released in 2012 of cancelled Ubisoft project believed to be new Prince of Persia game / Assassin's Creed spin off?

Here are some new models of the game main character that I was able to find along side some NPCs and some props.

Who would want a small present day city to explore in Valhalla?

    Posted: 11 May 2020 06:18 PM PDT

I really enjoyed the small present day missions in Assassin's Creed 3 and I've always wondered if Ubisoft would ever do a small city you could explore and do missions in. Perhaps even add in an upgrade system for your tools and weapons so that you can really feel immersed in the present day story.

I just realized something lore wise about AC Origins

    Posted: 11 May 2020 04:56 AM PDT

In AC origins the people believe that burning the body = no afterlife right ? Which makes it doubly savage from Bayek to use flaming weapons. Just think about it. When you use a flaming weapon you're telling your enemy you hate them so much they're not even getting an afterlife. Possibly similarly in Odyssey because the burning the bodies thing is something a lot of cultures shared as being bad I think, but I'm not sure.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's first DLC will let you uncover the Legend of Beowulf

Thanks to the official description at the Uplay store, we may have a clue about the first DLC story, which will apparently revolve around the legend of Beowulf.

"New Story Mission. The Legend of Beowulf. Discover the cruel truth behind the legend," it is written under The Season Pass section over at Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Ultimate Edition store page as you can see in the screenshot below.

Not bad. Not near as bad as I had heard it was. Idk why they redesigned the animus but whatever. As someone who loved the future storyline this was quite enjoyable.
