"Music has always been a crucial element in any Assassin's Creed game, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be no different. Accompanying you on your journey through Dark Age England will be the music of composers Jesper Kyd (Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood) and Sarah Schachner (Assassin's Creed Origins). Joining these series veterans will be Norwegian musician Einar Selvik, who will create original songs for the soundtrack.

A BAFTA award-winning Danish composer, Jesper Kyd composed the soundtrack for the original Assassin's Creed, as well as for the entire Ezio trilogy. If you've ever found yourself listening to any version of "Ezio's Family," one of the franchise's most enduring themes, you have Kyd to thank for it. His most recent composing credits include Borderlands 3, State of Decay 2, and Warhammer: Vermintide 2.

Sarah Schachner is an American composer known for blending authentic folk string instruments with analog synths, electronic production, and orchestra. In 2017, she composed the original score for Assassin's Creed Origins, and more recently has worked on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Anthem.

Also known by his stage name Kvitrafn, Einar Selvik is a multi-instrumental Norwegian artist. A newcomer to Assassin's Creed, Selvik has been creating Nordic music for more than 25 years. His credits include soundtrack work on the History Channel TV show "Vikings," where he also appeared as an actor. He will be writing the original songs for Assassin's Creed Valhalla's soundtrack.

Subreddit survey: Help us help newcomers to the franchise

    Posted: 12 May 2020 08:20 AM PDT

"Which Assassin's Creed game should I play", "I'd like to get into the franchise, but I don't know where to start" - we have all seen dozens and dozens of similar posts. And with a franchise with so many games in it, no wonder newcomers are confused about the series' continuity and it's millenia-spanning adventures.

But we do get many such posts, sometimes even too much, to the point where we have started removing them, because at that point it's such a frequently asked question that there should be plenty of search results, right? But sometimes a simple search doesn't provide the necessary answers, which is why we're asking you, the r/assassinscreed community, to help us.

We have created a survey, where you can write what you like the most about each of the Assassin's Creed games and / or DLCs that you have played. Why just the positives you ask? Well, the subreddit has had a few tumultuous days recently, so why not say something positive about the franchise we care about and help those that are new to it?

And so, why would you recommend the Assassin's Creed games you've played to a newcomer? Was it because of a specific character? Or perhaps the vibrant setting? The combat, parkour, atmopshere? You can be as detailed or vague as you like, as long as stay focused on the point. The purpose of all this is to collect the most common elements people like about each game, as well as some basic information, and add them to our subreddit wiki, where we can redirect any newcomers.

If you're interested in helping us out, click here to fill out the survey.

I think the Mont Saint-Michel (built in 709) as a synchronization viewpoint is reason enough to add the region of Normandy to Assassin's Creed Valhalla

A few new details about Valhalla: Feing death ability, the raven's name is Sýnin, gear gets new appearance when upgraded, etc.

We need to find out what the code means (he also said, probably jokingly, that if by 2022 nobody has found it he we translate it, but it's probably a joke)

I'm in the process of making all protagonists in polygon. I don't know if someone did this before, but I like making this. Ezio is the first polygon image I ever made. (Album in comments)

I think what I love most about Unity is the fact that I play purely as an Assassin.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 08:44 AM PDT

Unity is my favorite AC game for many reasons but the main one is that the feeling of being an Assassin is unmatched in any other title for me. This maybe sounds ridiculously obvious but I realized that the experience I have when playing Unity is largely due to just being a pure Assassin. I get a similar feeling in the Ezio Trilogy, and even Syndicate. But that's what was wrong with Odyssey and Origins I think. I don't want to be a warrior who is an Assassin, or a viking who is an Assassin, or even a pirate who is an Assassin. I just want the pure Assassin experience again.

The fact that we are going to have London for the second time and people don't mind that (because it's ok) proves that there is absolutely no excuse to refuse an Imperial Rome game

    Posted: 12 May 2020 09:05 PM PDT

We've had Industrial London and now we're going to have Medieval London. I'm OK with this because both versions of the city are so different it's as if it was another one

The same thing happens with Rome. People say oh enough of Rome we already had it in Brotherhood, even though it has nothing similar to imperial Rome.

If you're OK with London in Valhalla again, then it's OK to have a Roman empire game.

Besides, how many Roman empire free roam games do we have?

    Should profiles make a return?

Connors epilogue speech should have been added to ACIII

    Posted: 12 May 2020 03:57 PM PDT

So I recently listened to Connor's epilogue speech and believe they should have added it to the game. I think I would have added more to Connor's character and showed his growth from the beginning of his journey. Much like Ezio's speech in Bonfire of the Vanities.

Why do you think they didn't add it???

I think conversation choices are bad for the game

    Posted: 12 May 2020 11:35 PM PDT

Its not that i dont like them, on one side i do like them but on second i think having them can stop character from growing. In a way Ezio evolved through the story or almost any other protagonist, Arno, Bayek, Edward etc... For example i dont think Edward would grow into that he grew if you had option to "be a dick all the time". Hope you understood my point, just wanted to discuss that :D

Ubisoft had 10 commandments when creating an Assassin's Creed game.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 10:45 PM PDT

    1. Assassin's Creed will always tell the story of the secret war between Assassins and Templars

    2. Being an assassin doesn't make the main character a ruthless killer. He kills, but he has principles and never murders innocents. He avoids collateral damage as much as possible

    3. The war between Assassins and Templars is the foundation of our Franchise story in the past and present.

    4. The Assassin should always be agile, socially skilled, unbeatable with a blade, and a stylish bad-ass.

    5. Pivotal moments in Human History are the basis of our Franchise. Asssassin's Creed will always take a revisionist approach on real events. We'll use historical gaps to create our story.

    6. History should always be portrayed as relevant to our core audience, with facts that tie in to present day common knowledge and edgy modern Art Direction

    7. Assassin's Creed is based on Technology – Nothing is Magical, Everything has a plausible technological explanation.

    8. Assassin's Creed is about digging in a character's past through their DNA in order to understand what really happened in key historical moments.

    9. Since the player relives the deeds of his kin through his DNA, the I.P. cannot be set in the future. DNA of unborn people does not exist.

    10. Assassin's Creed can bend Historical accuracy but cannot create an Uchronia.

    Uchronia=Alternate History

What I'm loving about Black Flag so far (AC Marathon)

    Posted: 12 May 2020 11:44 PM PDT

After the enjoyable letdown AC3 was, I've been looking forward to Black Flag as so many people consider it the best in the franchise and a lot have it as one of their tops. I must say that it is living up to that hype so far! Everything about this game is fun and enjoyable. Edward is a great character and although I'm not too far into the game, I can tell his development is going to be very well done. The world is beautiful to look at. The combat, especially the naval combat is so incredibly well done, I truly feel like a pirate. That brings me into the music, ah man the music is SO GOOD! The soundtrack makes everything feel much more than it really even is honestly. The music during combat with the pirates yelling, the sound of the sea and cannons firing, wow. The singing while traveling is such an unnecessary, yet amazing little thing that makes me and my crew really feel like a band of brothers out at sea.

Loving this game so far! I hope it has a good conclusion!

Character development in Assassin's Creed becoming meaningless?

    Posted: 12 May 2020 02:09 PM PDT

Through Out the Games I always admired the Transition Characters Go through. For example Arno. He started as someone who was simply Said a dork. He was always making Trouble and Not taking anything serisouly in Life. But without spoiling anything, you could See him getting more serious, more quite, more thoughtful. He became an Assassin.

That's why I was really dissapointed with Odyssey. I played Kassandra and I have to say I never saw a more Bland and meaningless Character development as in Odyssey. My choices didnt Matter. At the end I felt Like she was the Same Person Like she was at the beginning. I really don't understand how Odyssey got such high praise from Mainstream critics. I felt Odyssey was a poorly made Game.

I hope Valhalla’s combat is as satisfying as AC III, what was your favorite combat from the series?

    Posted: 12 May 2020 10:25 AM PDT

It was just so crunchy and the animations were so solid, tight and entertaining. I also love how the enemies react to being hit. From how they have been promoting the combat in interviews I definitely think it will be just as satisfying in its own way.. which makes me so stoked. A cross between Origins and AC III combat would be a dream.

Odyssey feels dead because it has no subtlety

    Posted: 12 May 2020 04:11 AM PDT

Just need to rant about how I found Origins' world so interesting, and found Odyssey kind of boring.

In Origins you have large deserts where you find nothing but hallucinations and sometimes a hidden ruins, When following roads you can usually see npc from far away before you run into them, the villages have less npc than those in Odyssey but they had real lives, they went to work, went home, socialised and slept, in Odyssey it seems they walk in circles.

Playing Odyssey there's always something happening. You can't ride for one minute without seeing animals running around, or someone attacking you. Always a mercenary right behind you if play as ruthlessly as I did.. There's hardly any time to take in landscape or prepare for meetings with enemies.

The events happening in Origins felt alot more alive to me because they weren't happening constantly. Hearing that horn sound when a bounty hunter was approaching the area struck fear into my heart. finding old ruins in the desert was mysterious and often rewarding. The villagers in Siwa greeting Bayek made it feel like there's genuine connection.

This is the case in other open worlds I love too, in RDR2 there are large areas where nothing really happens. Seeing soldiers by the road in TW3 you know something grim is about to happen.

    Odyssey just feels cluttered...

    Stunning screenshot (?) from Ashraf

Assassin's creed Valhalla emblem recreated in 3Ds max. My third project ever, actually. How is it?

    Posted: 12 May 2020 08:32 PM PDT

I think I have a solution for one-hit hidden blade kills that may suit everyone

    Posted: 12 May 2020 12:26 PM PDT

In an interview Ashraf Ismail stated Eivor will learn a hidden blade technique that will allow you to one hit kill virtually any enemy but it will require skill to pull off. This was done as a design choice to evolve the new RPG formula while making sure fans of the older games are respected.

So... What if the hidden blade kill is now a timed attack for stronger enemies and an instant kill for basic enemies? For example, if you are on a beam above a highly armoured captain and perform an aerial assassination, the game goes into slow motion as Eivor leaps down and the camera focuses on the target. You get a brief window QuickTime event to follow the prompt.

If you are successful, you instantly kill the capitain. If you fail, he catches your wrist as you land, stopping the assassination and Eivor manages to do a reversal move with a body stab instead, applying some damage and engaging in a fight.

This way, everyone is happy. Stealth purists like myself get a way to perform instant kills with an extra layer in the gameplay and are rewarded with an awesome slow motion shot before the takedown. It also gives a reason for why a stealth kill wouldn't instant kill a stronger enemy, because they actually stop the attack rather than just get stabbed in the neck and survive. It actually harkens back to the original game when aware enemies could stop Altair assassinating them by grabbing his arm.

Finally got around to AC Origins. Wow.

    Posted: 12 May 2020 07:32 AM PDT

As someone with a family and full time job, I often don't get the chance to play the latest games when they come out. And like most people I have a backlog that will never end. This past weekend Xbox had a AC franchise sale, so I picked up Origins + Season Pass and decided to fire it up. This was a first AC game played since AC2 and AC4.

I was immediately blown away. The graphics, the world of Egypt, and the new RPG elements are incredible. This was the first AC game where I just ran around the streets of Alexandria taking in the sights of how beautifully made the city was. The new loot system and quest log is well made too. Hats off to Ubisoft for making a really great gem and turning the series into something new and exciting. 15 hours in and loving it. Origins blew me away so much I decided to also pick up Odyssey too for when I finish Origins.

Really excited for Valhalla now :)
