They need to bring back "Deathbed speeches"

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 01:45 PM PST

    I'm sorry if it's too long. :)

By "Deathbed speech" I only mean the ones in AC3

In AC3 whenever you killed a storywise-important character they would then say why the need to do something to prevent something worse from happening (getting dirty so the world stays clean:)

These kinda stopped after AC4 (with a few exceptions in Rogue) and I would like them to come back, Why?

In AC3 you didn't have good vs bad everyone was grey. The templars were really anti villains instead of good ol fashioned disney villains and it made sense. No one is inherently "evil" without reason.

After Rogue villains just started to be "Bad" just because. In Unity "Germaine" had no good reason to be the villain. Restoring power to an already functioning order? Why? Just because he wanted to be like Jaques de molay.

Didn't play syndicate but in origins (no matter how good the story was) the whole order of the ancient including "Flavius Metellus" (the general who got hold of the apple) was just straight up out of a cartoon, he just wanted world domination (witch in his defense everyone around that time did).

And odyssey was just about how "evil" the devs can portray the villain.

You may think: "his argument went so off-course" but point is if a villain doesn't have a valid reason to be bad how can they fit philosophical speeches in their cutscenes when they're dying?

And in the end I interest you in William Johnson's death speech in AC3:

Johnson: Ah, no. What have you done?

[Connor: Ensured an end to your schemes. You sought to claim these lands for the Templars...]

Johnson: Aye. That we might PROTECT them! Do you think that good King George lies awake at night hoping that no harm comes to his native subjects? Or that the people of the city care one whit about them? Oh, sure, the colonists are happy to trade when they need food or shelter or a bit of extra padding for their armies. But when the walls of the city constrict - when there's crops that need soil - when there's... when there's no enemy to fight - we'll see how kind the people are then.

[Connor: The colonists have no quarrel with the Iroquois.]

Johnson: Not yet. But they will. 'Tis the way of the world. In time, they'll turn. I... I could have stopped it. I could have saved you all...

[Connor: You speak of salvation, but you were killing them.]

Josnhon: Aye! Because they would not listen. And so... it seems... neither will you.

[Connor: May the Faceless One grant you the peace you claimed to seek.]

Did ubisoft forget about AC's original story?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 07:02 PM PST

The old AC where modern templars and assassins trying to find pieces of eden or clues throughout the animus? The adam&eve plot? Juno, desmond's death? Did they all suddenly forget about that after ac3? All Ac after ac3 are only like standalone games They are good if you play them, but they have nothing to do with the original story, all ubisoft doing now is dropping us some little clues about the main story every now and then in each game? Anyone sad about this game like me? The reason of me saying this all of a sudden because I just watched a full ac main story explanation for the nostalgia and realised how good the story was..

Why was AC Revelations so polarizing?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 03:26 PM PST

I recently made a decision to replay through all the AC franchise. In the past, Revelations was always one of my favorites, due to the location, ezio's development through the game, all the tie-ins between Desmond, ezio, and Altair's stories...there was so much I enjoyed about it, and it was easily my favorite in the series through those first four games.

However, when I read reviews, some think it's amazing, some say it's terrible, and I don't understand why. For example, ign had an article ranking the first six or so games in the series, and they ranked Revelations LAST.

So my question is why was it so polarizing? For those of you who don't like it, what makes you feel that way? And please....I know it's the internet, but I'm looking for open discussion, not people spouting hate or unnecessary insults.

    Dystos Fort is Beautiful

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 11:46 PM PST

Level 18 new player to the game. Just came across this gem of a Fort. In the "Forgotten Ruins of Makris" on the island Euboea (Top Middle of the map). Dystos Fort you blow me away by the detail and liveliness of yourself. It actually felt as if there was a thriving community. Lots of guards with various levels of strength. Good times fighting the Polemarch and captain at the same time. Nice try game but I came out on top. All thanks to Devastating Shot but whatever ok. This game really sucks you in with hiw immersive it is.

Apologies to if you’re a huge AC3 fan, but playing it for the first time I have to say: the pacing is fucking terrible.

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 02:45 PM PST

I've previously played Origins, Black Flag, Odyssey, and the original, I've enjoyed them all, even the least enjoyable among them being a solid 7/10. I expected to love AC3, because I love anything set in the American Revolution and have a fondness for Native American culture. That being said, I may have hyped it up too much for myself.

It's not bad so far — I just got to sequence 6, but the pacing is so, so bad. Spending four hours as poncey Haytham was too long — maybe I would have appreciated it more if I didn't already know from people here that he is a Templar, but what I thought would be a quick tutorial went on for ages.

Then, you become Ratonhnhaké:ton and it just feels like more tutorial for ages. After you finally come to the end of that, and get your assassins gear, it suddenly cuts away to Desmond. I was finally ready to actually get to the meat of the game — this seemed like the worst possible time to break away from it.

And through this point the story has been pretty bland. Benjamin Franklin felt so shoehorned in the whole thing story wise just feels super paint by numbers.

I'm hoping now that I'm finally past the seemingly endless tutorial that I'll start enjoying myself, but it has been such a slog. Please tell me it gets better.

What were some of your most favorite memories from Assassin's Creed IV?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 03:57 PM PST

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyMxzwkCMwY

    Ah, the good old days.

Assassin's Creed IV was and still is one of my favorites in the franchise. I made a lot of great memories playing that game. You know, the virtual memories you make that last forever. It brings me back to a simpler time in gaming and a simpler time in my life. Was listening to the shanty posted above, and a flood of nostalgia came over me.

I think my favorite moment in the game was when [AC4 Spoiler]Blackbeard was killed, and when entering back into freeroam, this shanty would play.

Anyways, please share and discuss this holy grail of a game!

    P.S., here's another nostalgia filled shanty: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGThECQmSpI

Strongest guards/enemies in the entire franchise?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 10:24 AM PST

I'm talking gameplay but lore wise too.

    That's a question I asked myself a lot recently.

    Brotherhood's Papal Guards ? Revelation's Janissaries ? AC3's Jaegers ? Unity's Suiss guards captains ? Rogue's Bounty Hunters ?

What do you think about Odyssey?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 03:10 PM PST

I've been a fan of Assassins Creed since the very first game. Which I loved. Played 1, 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, 3, and Black Flag all the way through. Loved them all. Then came Unity or Syndicate and I didn't like them, never beat them. I tried Origins from a friend but just couldn't get into it. The crafting really turns me off, I hate crafting. I ended up just galloping to the Pyramids in Gyzi, climbed to the top and then gave the game back. It's been a long time since I've played AC and I kind of have the itch. Is Odyssey worth getting? I really like the idea of Sparta vs Athens but that's really all I know about the game.. What's the combat like? How's the customization/ leveling? And what about crafting? Any advice?

AC Odyssey: Mythical Creatures and general difficulty question

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 10:35 AM PST

    Hey all,

I've been playing a lot of AC:Odyssey and I got myself to level 99 and some mastery points on nightmare mode. I've got some very good gear (100% crit at full health build for swords) and I've been mowing through everything. I just started doing some of the mythical creatures and found that I'm killing them in like 2 or 3 overpower attacks. Is this normal? I'm playing on nightmare mode and still can almost 2 or 3 shot the mythical creatures. I can 1 shot mercenaries with an overpower attack too.

I did notice before I killed one of them that when I moused over the Forgotten Cave it said "Challenge: Normal" but I'm playing in nightmare. Is there some setting I'm missing somewhere? Things are fully scaled to me but it's almost too easy. Everything is dying in a few sword swipes or 1 overpower attack or 1 hero strike.

Would actual time travel be an interesting concept to bring into the Assassin's Creed universe or not?

    Posted: 14 Dec 2019 09:49 AM PST

Could help bring a new element into the game maybe. Train in that time with the animus to be sent back to alter or change something.
