Assassin's Creed is the reason I'm an archaeologist.

Playing through Odyssey and I realized that my deep love for history began right after I was introduced to the series. Tearin' it up with Ezio chsnged my life forever, and that's kinda crazy!

People have been talking about what they want in AC: Ragnarok, but what do you NOT want?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 09:32 AM PST

For me it would be the heavy RPG elements in Odyssey, and the high fantasy elements. I feel the fantasy elements work best when in the background. Also, the superpowers you get in Odyssey are really stupid and dont fit the series at all.

Just pick up Black Flag this weekend and had a moment “ spoilers...maybe? “

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 10:33 PM PST

Started the mission Nothing is True and I was stealthing my way around like a boss. When I got so far in and one of the assassins said " whats he doing here? " it didn't dawn on me, then when the other said " an imposter wearing the robes of a traitor " my jaw hit the floor.

I don't think I've ever had a moment in a game that made me feel like that. Anybody else feel like a badass up until that moment, or just me?

Suggestions of what to watch for catching up with lore

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 04:16 PM PST

Hey guys, I just finished all of Origins and realized I retain very little lore information and I want to catch up with it. Do you guys know any YouTube channel or something like that that has made a good coverage on the lore and mythos of Assassin's Creed? I would prefer if that did not include Odyssey, since I don't want it spoiled

My idea for a war of 1812 game with connor's descendant (long post & comic spoilers)

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 08:24 PM PST

So since it's Christmas time and the season of wishing for things that'll probably never happen i decided that i would write out one of my most wanted games to come from this series: a game set during the war of 1812 with Io:nhiòte, connor's daughter, as the main character.

Story: the game starts off in her early years as a child. The main tutorial of the standard gameplay is during the first sequence. You get to watch Io:nhiòte grow from a young child to an adult and watching her bond with her father. The last mission is connor sending Io:nhiòte out to assassinate some rich target giving away slaves at some elite party. After assassinating her target, connor lets her know that he has business in france (arno needs help against an old shay using pieces of eden) and will return when the job his done. This ends sequence one. I pretty much want the rest of the story to continue with Io:nhiòte building her relationships with eseosa, patience gibbs, aveline (who travels up north to check up on Io:nhiòte and the other assassins), and the rest of the homestead. I would really like to see Io:nhiòte address the conflict between the US and the British/native Americans. I feel it sets up for a really good conflict and storyline. Unfortunately i don't have too many more ideas for how the story could progress but if anybody has any ideas i would love to hear them!!!

Gameplay: the free running system will be a streamlined version of unity's. Imo unity's was way too clunky and it was pretty weird to see arno do a 10 foot vertical jump off the ground. Bring back tree running and make it feel as amazing and fluid as it was in ac3. For the core combat and customization, I would really like to see them bring the persona system from liberation back but DO NOT MAKE IT REQUIRED FOR ASSASSINATIONS!!!! Every persona will have 3 load outs with different weapons and cosmetics. The assassin load out has the most weapons but is always detected in restricted areas but can blend with the crowd now. The lady and slave personas are pretty much the same from liberation but some cosmetics make it easier to sneak around, such as if you were to equip a certain family crest then you can automatically enter a restricted are rather than looting an invitation or charming the guards. I think having a customizable hidden blade would be cool. You start off with one hidden blade and then have to craft the option to add something on. Later on you'll unlock a second hidden blade that you can also craft an add on option. The available add ons would be the hookblade for faster climbing, the hidden pistol, the phantom blade, the poison launcher, and maybe another type of hidden blade. I personally think it would be cool have a controllable bald eagle and it was shown that Io:nhiòte does have control over a bald eagle in her first appearance.

Blackbox assassinations: I want players to have complete control over how they take care of their target. Such as how in the first mission there is some rich elite throwing a party and has some type of game where the winner receives a slave. - for the assassins persona you can either go straight for your target and just kill every guard in combat. You could use stealth and get to your target and kill them that way. You could also load up a carriage with a few carts of explosive barrels and drive it into the gate of the mansion and use the chaos to kill your target undetected as your target is ordering all of the guards to put out the fire. - for the lady persona you could loot an invitation from someone and sneak in. Head up to the second floor of the mansion and aim your parasol gun at your target poison them undetected. - for the slave persona you could join the other slaves being sold off and when your target starts selling off the other slaves, you get close and kill her in front of the entire crowd. Free the slaves and use the chaos to escape.

These are just some of the ideas that i have for the assassination missions but i would love for everyone to have their own unique opportunity to kill their targets.

Openworld: I would want the open world to contain the large cities from ac3 and a vast frontier area that is all connected like how origins and odyssey were. Interesting side quests and unique locations. Bring back hunting and have some side quests about the frontiersmen sending you out to hunt certain animals like how it was done in ac3 but once you complete all missions then you can craft a special animal pelt outfit that is very similar to connor's animal spirit from TOKW. Bring back the floating page collectables but this time its pages from haytham's journal and when you collect a certain number of pages then you can play a mission from haytham's journal. There would probably be 4 or 5 missions from haytham's journal but i want these mostly because we'll never get a haytham game and i think this could give Io:nhiòte some great character development from reading haytham's journal.

This is getting pretty long so I'll end it here but if you want any more info from me then i would willing to answer your questions!!!

Assassin's creed revelations is the worst mainline ac game.

    Posted: 10 Dec 2019 12:05 AM PST

This game was made just to cashgrab on people while they wait for assassin's creed 3.

    Pros:

    • Good conclusion to ezio and altair. • Constantinople looks good at times.

    Cons:

    • This game is the definition of time wasting. They remove wanted posters so everytime you become wanted you either make long trips to heralds or wait for a templar agent to show up.

    • The economy sucks. Everything is way too expensive and the worst part is everytime you do any mission the 20 min timer resets (wtf).

    • Den defense. Yet another pointless mechanics that only lengthens the already mundane gameplay.

Who is your favorite/least favorite assassin and why? Bayek is my favorite cuz he’s serious without being completely revenge driven (cough* Conor* cough*) + I’m Egyptian so a bit bias. Least favorite is Conor cuz even tho he’s a badass (with an epic backstory) he is a bit bland (Never smiles/Laughs)

    AC: Odyssey - Side Quests.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 02:12 PM PST

Hi. I have a question about this game that I hope you can answer. You can skip to the bold text if you want I've recently acquired this game because it's on sale and a friend of mine recommended it to me. As I was playing the game, I started to notice the odd amount of quests that the game throws at you right at the beggining. This is not really a problem for me but I was pretty shocked (The last Assassin's Creed game I played was IV: Black Flag). When I asked my friend about the side quests, he told me that some of them (The ones from the message board) are apparently infinite.

I really I don't want to waste my time with never ending quests, so I would like some help on how to tell the difference between different quests and which ones are finite and infinite.

AC Black Flag and Anne Bonny

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 12:14 PM PST

There's an interesting thing Black Flag did with Anne Bonny. She was a real pirate (obviously) but the interesting thing is Anne Bonny was never executed and never died in prison. Its unknown what ever happened to her. And in the game she is broken out by Edward and Ah Tibiah. I wonder how much truth to that there is...

Can’t believe MD continues in a paid DLC instead of the main game.

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:59 PM PST

I can't believe I spent 4 months and 60 hours to complete AC Odyssey's story just to find out what happens in Modern Day, to learn that all the MD stuff had been moved to either side quests or DLC, which I thought was free but it turns out only 1/3 of the episodes are free, then Ubisoft wants me to spend $40 to get the whole DLC to find out what happens in the MD that will build up on the next game which I'll have to pay $100 for next year. This is ridiculous in my opinion and I'm so furious. It's like when we found out Juno's arc was continued in comics and I had to buy the freaking comics for $120 to understand what the actual hell is going on in the AC universe. I might be siding with those who say kill off Modern Day because this is just ridiculous. The games of AC have always been about the MD. The historical setting was just for gameplay but the actual lore and universe all focused on modern day. Now Ubisoft has done fucked that too. I'm furious. That's just it. I just found that out not 5 minutes ago and I am pissed. Thanks Ubisoft but you ain't getting another cent of my money. Imma just watch the damn thing on YouTube. Yeah yeah another rant. I swear this is the last for at least another year.

    Desmond has a son?

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:19 AM PST

    Hi,

I started again the old AC and one thing triggered me. I am talking about the personage of the present Desmond. In AC brotherhood, the subject 16 (Alias Clay), says to desmond something like that " Eve is the key, her DNA, Your son, the sun, too late"... Something like that

What does that mean? He has a son? If so, how old ? And more importantly why we cannot play with him in the recent if there is a son... It can give to the story a huge point forward. Make the present great again because we know he is special and the son of Desmond...

    Thanks

Which Playable Assassin's could reasonably have met eachother

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 05:36 PM PST

Started my play through of the series I had been planning (have played all the main series games atleast a bit but never finished the entire thing in order) and when I got to brotherhood I started wondering, which Playable Assassin's/Characters were around at the same time? Which ones could have teamed up on an awesome killing spree in some unlikely scenario, or become adversaries in the case of Shay?

To everyone who plays games with the default outfit, do you play the entire game with it or do you switch to the best gear at some point

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 04:30 PM PST

I'm playing all the games with the build displayed on the box art, and I'm trying to decide how to handle the final mission. Part of me wants to finish the game with the case build and part of me wants to wear it the entire time but then wear the best build for the final mission. Thoughts?

What I hope for ac's future

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 12:59 AM PST

Recent discussions made me realise that I do not like the direction assassin's creed is currently going.

Don't get me wrong here. Story wise it'll not be a problem unless they mess that up, but I'm talking about gameplay and mechanics.

I started replaying black flag and have now returned to Paris as Arno, while the game itself didn't do well to issues many had or not, I heavily enjoyed it and the fluid free running with up and down freerunning is something that makes this game a good one for me. Besides the freerunning it also is the first game to not make you insta kill everyone unless you've got the best weapons in the game and not fighting high level enemies. Which was needed as some complained it to be too easy to kill enemies. (neither agree or disagree)

Then there's this last thing I want back in my life, And that's either a really good implementation of coop(I'm looking at an adoptation of let's say ghost recon coop) or (and hear me out on this) multiplayer.

Yes, I am one of those that has played the multiplayer to death, I adored the artifact assault game mode(capture the flag). Searching for enemies while defending your own or being behind enemy lines working your way towards their artifact.

I really do hope for a return of this as while I do like origins and odyssey, I don't want it to be more rpg than adventure.

    AC2 > Brotherhood, here's why

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 03:37 AM PST

I played brotherhood first and used to love it. In fact I played and beat most of the AC games before i went back and played AC2. I never thought I would like it, I figured it was so early it was probably outdated and rudimentary. I couldn't have been more wrong. AC2 is everything I ever wanted out of assassins creed. It's simple. It's poignant. It's original. It feels fresh and authentic. Brotherhood feels forced. It feels like a company simply tried to mash together a more dense version of the same game and re-sell it to us. Instead of doing something equally new and exciting, they just extrapolated the same formula and hit copy/paste a bunch of times. And it didn't stop there obviously.

    Personal complaints about brotherhood:

    1. Too congested. Everywhere you go there is too much going on. I realize that it's Rome, but it makes the game more of a headache and subtracts from the poignant feel that AC2 had going. The game runs slower and has less of a "flow" as a result (on 360 at least).

    2. Certain things feel disjointed and cheaply thrown together. A good example would be the ledge assassinations. You know, the classic "reach over and stab you in the balls" move. I use it alot. In brotherhood, Ezio's hand does not even appear to come into contact with the enemy's balls. Laugh if you will, but this is a legitimate beef I have with the game. Ezio reaches over and appears to stab the area many inches away from the person, and then proceeds to use telekinesis to pull them over the ledge. It just feels cheap and doesn't look good. AC2 gives you that authentic ball stab.

    3. The lighting. This is subjective I know. But the lighting is very different and I much prefer the overall vibe that AC2 lighting facilitates.. it gives the cities more personality and gives the game this sort of iridescence.

    4. The music. Even more subjective I realize. But AC2's is better. It's just infinitely better. AC2's music is so beautiful I find myself reluctant to pause my game when I need to. That doesn't happen with brotherhood.

    5. Storyline is not so much fun. It just drags on and on, and at no point do I feel emotionally invested. AC2 is simple. These mofos killed your family, go eff em up. I love that.

I would only voice these complaints in the context of this specific comparison. Brotherhood is a great game, I just really fail to see it as an improvement over it's predecessor. In short, I see AC2 as a poignant work of art and I see brotherhood as the beginning of a terrible trend of copy/pasting. Hey guys, people liked this game! Let's make it again and re-sell it as many times as possible! The results are comparatively soulless.

If the next game sucks, I think Black Flag should get a remake. (IMO)

    Posted: 09 Dec 2019 07:09 PM PST

There was just something so great about Black Flag which has made it a game that even today, I can still go back and play it. The new AC engine seems perfect for it, I just hope that if it happens it won't just be changing the filter like with AC3.
