    AC Marathon 2019 - Day 59

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Sequence 07 - 'The Hammer Falls'

Ahoy mateys! Today's sequence marks a big event in the game. The King is demanding an end to the Pirates' shenanigans and is offering a pardon in place of destroying Nassau. This causes a serious divide between the leaders of the town. With Hornigold agreeing to the offer, our next step is quite clear – steal gunpowder, and skip town.

    Today's Target: Commodore Chamberlaine

    DAILY OVERVIEW

    1 - We Demand a Parlay
Tail Hornigold and Rogers to steal the Chamberlaine's plans.
    2 - The Gunpowder Plot
Steal gunpowder from armed thugs in Nassau.
    3 - Commodore Eighty-Sixed
Tail guards in a bid to track down and ultimately assassinate the commodore who would see your civilization razed.
    4 - The Fireship
Work with Vane to send a fireship through the naval blockade, escaping Nassau and heading for Great Inagua.

Heads up! You have a tough naval battle coming up tomorrow, so it's best to upgrade your ship as much as you can. It's recommended that you capture Fort Cabo de Cruz before tackling tomorrow's sequence. If you plan on completing the optional objectives, make sure you have an upgraded ram.

Well I’m addicted to Black Flag again!

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 12:32 AM PST

Bought the collection today on switch. Holy shit it's been awhile since I've been so keen on playing a game. In fact I remember when I first played Black Flag on 360 I nearly 100% it. Now running around Havana trying to 100% the island before I leave, I can feel that swashbuckling, seafaring addiction coming back!

They should bring back the hookblade

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 11:03 AM PST

It allowed so much range in jumping to other roofs, escaping from janissaries and such, also after a big jump hooking onto a line is one of the best feelings ever imo.

    I miss the Animus Database

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 01:24 PM PST

The new Discovery Tour in Origins and Odyssey are great but I think it is sad that the removed the Animus Database and its entries.

It was very interesting to read them and Shauns sarcastic comments where very funny in that. They where also much more clearer than the tour, just search an entry and read about it not a ten minute or half and hour tour where someone explain to many things to you.

I would really liked to see them back and think they could co-exist with the Discovery Tour.

I forgot how tedious and bad the Venice section is in AC2.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 06:05 PM PST

This section of the game doesn't seem to be handled with as much care as the first half. The cut scenes are very lazy, usually not existing most of the time. The missions are very long and consist of run here and kill this group of enemies then run over here and kill this group of enemies, escort missions, and the like. That's not even taking into account the excessive amount of guards on the rooftops and how bad the layout is of the city. I know Venice is apparently a nightmare in real life too but damn the parkour just isn't smooth at all compared to the masterpiece that was Florence.

    Beauty Of Assassins Creed Odyssey

    Conquest Questions in Odyssey

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 09:59 PM PST

Just got Odyssey for the Black Friday deal since it was the cheapest way to get III and decided I'd play through it. My first goal is making the whole map blue, but it seems a good chunk is story-locked and Sparta is really good at retaking places when I'm not looking. Is there a way to either slow them down or if I totally wipe them out does it only stop then?

Is Asraf Ismail not the perfect lead developer for the Assassins Creed?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 07:14 AM PST

Since the Rebel Collection's release on Switch and even the other day when I was reflecting on Black a Flag when I was playing Origins it crosses my mind that both games were made by Mr. Ismail. It practically seems as though any game this guy touches is a hit and a revolution for the series.

    Thoughts on this?

Is ubisoft have a problem with the storyline?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 05:23 PM PST

    Hi,

I have just finished all the Dlc. I thought they were going to catch up the storyline's failure of the main game but none. Here is my problem with ubisoft, they make big things (nice maps, nice mechanics of gameplay etc etc) who are useless in the end. They used like 20 percent of the potential of the game. What we did during the dlc? Cleaning castles again again. In this ac I think I killed more than 5000 PNJ... anyway..

What we learn about Layla? Nothing? What we learn about the assassin? Nothing (oh wait!! this one is logic because it's not really an ac)... We learn nothing. But we learn a lot about the isu, but again, we saw a lot of things but nothing in the end...

They should focus clearly in the story. Not the gameplay, the mechanics etc.. We dont care about that. Remember when we used to finish an Ac. We were sad because we have to wait the next one. For this one, who has this feeling? Not a lot of people I guess..

So Ubisoft make a good storyline in the next one and dont advert like there are more like 1000 missions if all the missions are the same...

Also you failed with the new animus... it makes the character of the present useless... Desmond was special, we grew up with him, got some special blood, learn about him little by little etc. This is the kind of personage we want. A special one...

    (Sorry for my English).

Did Ubisoft ever plan on remastering AC1?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 10:29 PM PST

They remastered II/Brotherhood/Revelations (on XO/PS4) and III and "remastered" Rogue (on XO/PS4).

I know that they made some Xbox One X enhancements for AC1 back-compat, so they have done some of the work.

Did they ever plan on remastering AC1?

Trouble when doing final upgrades on the mansion on Iguana Island in Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 09:58 AM PST

It might be a glitch but when I look for where to buy the last upgrades for the mansion, the prompt isn't there. Any way to reset without losing progress. Frustrating because it's my first time being so close to 100% of an Assassin's Creed game.

Which setting you were want to see in AC 2019 (if it was going to happen)

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 11:46 AM PST

Myself, think about Imperial Rome. Can be used with similar assets from Origins and Odyssey this year with full fledged next gen game about Vikings next year.

Been playing Unity again recently and there's been a few problems I've personally come across

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 04:27 AM PST

    1. Ubisoft tried to go with the whole "choose your own playstyle with different the armour perks" thing but a lot of side missions seem to be catered towards stealth which is annoying when your character is not built for stealth and because there's no whistle mechanic in this game (baffles me why that was taken out)
    2. Enemy guns are super overpowered, especially when you haven't fully upgraded your health yet. Super annoying when you fuck up an attempt at a stealth assassination (see number 1) and you get fucked when trying to escape by 2 enemy gunshots
    3. WHY THE FUCK ARE RIFLES CLASSED AS A MELEE WEAPON? Spent my livres buying one to help take out rooftop enemies easier only to discover that's replaced my sword and it's parry ability is dogshit. This means I had to try some more difficult missions using shitty stealth (see number 1) with just my hidden blades and a non-lethal rifle

I know you've all probably seen enough Unity complaining but honestly I've really enjoyed this game for the most part but these 3 main problems I've had make me just want to quit straight away. I feel the game was so close to being one of the best in the series but a few problems just hinder it from being such.

The skill tree in odyssey has to many “get free kill” level ups.

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 12:27 PM PST

Am I the only that was annoyed by how many parts of odyssey's skill tree felt like just flat out improvements with no new interesting gameplay. I'm not even talking about just skills that improve your stats but stuff like invisibility or being able to guide your arrow just removed the already struggling immersion and felt more like cheats then actual improvements. Turning invisible and going up and killing a dude doesn't make me feel like a stealthy assassin it makes me feel like I unlocked cheat codes. Give us stuff that actually changes how we play rather then just occasionally give us free kills.

Now that odyssey is over and support has ended, can we get a legit way to farm oikos gear?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 03:12 AM PST

The game is practically done with and i doubt they will see a massive change in microtransaction revenue so why not just release a mini dlc that allows you to farm oikos gear? that way ubi gets their money and gives the playerbase something to chase.

maybe when you get the dlc it adds roaming enemies on land that drop the weapons and armor while ships drop lieutenants, crew and ship cosmetics. kinda sucks how bad the orichalcum system is currently, id gladly drop 20-40 dollars to grind those sets/cosmetics.

    [Spoiler] Final Odyssey DLC Questline?

    Posted: 07 Dec 2019 02:08 AM PST

Might be a bit late for this, but I read an article by Kotaku a while ago saying that after the October Update we might get a final DLC questline that makes the transition between its story and the story of the next AC game. I can't find that questline on the map and I already pretty much completed everything in the game. Was that rumour false then? Did I miss something? A Viking-ish quest would be sweet tbh.

Only just realised you can switch to all your weapons inside the weapon wheel on AC3 remastered.

Like go to the sword icon and push right on the left joy stick and you can scroll through all your swords also you can pick different guns for each of the holsters
