    AC Marathon 2019 - Day 54

    Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Sequence 01 & 02 - 'Heroes Aren't Born'

Hello Pirates! After finishing Assassin's Creed Liberation, today we're starting an all new adventure in the Golden Age of Piracy, several decades before the events of AC3 and Liberation. Our new protagonist is pirate/privateer Edward Kenway, the father of Haytham and the grandfather of Connor. In today's sequence, the ship we were aboard is attacked, leaving us stranded on an island with a rogue Assassin. Our objective for today is to chase down and kill this assassin, and find a way to reach our new destination, Havana.

    Today's Target: Duncan Walpole

    DAILY OVERVIEW

    1 - Edward Kenway
Hunt down and steal the identity of Duncan Walpole, then rescue Stede Bonnet and sail for Havana.
    2 - Animus Interlude 1
Take a tour around the offices of Abstergo Entertainment.
    3 - Lively Havana
Climb, pickpocket and brawl your way through the city of Havana.
    4 - ...And My Sugar?
Infiltrate a heavily guarded fortress in Havana to recover confiscated items.
    5 - Mister Walpole, I Presume?
Meet with Governor Torres and his associates, and deliver the mysterious items.
6 - A Man They Call the Sage
Meet with the Sage, and escort him to the governor's mansion.
    7 - Claiming What's Due
Infiltrate Torres' compound in an attempt to free the Sage.
    8 - The Treasure Fleet
Escape captivity with Adéwalé, and free prisoners to help you overthrow a ship.

Do you think they should never have got rid of Desmond?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:39 AM PST

If you do think that, why? If you don't think that, how far do you think they should keep Layla? And if you don't like Layla, what do you think the ideal modern time protag. would be? And to answer my own question(all 3), I feel they could have at least done Desmond a little bit longer instead of offing him like they did. About Layla, I have been reading on here about the Odyssey DLC (I have not played the DLC yet) and I feel they should end her "arc" before they start making more mistakes. And for the ideal protag. I feel that I would maybe like a more active character instead of always in a hiding place( Yes, I understand the Templars are essentially constantly looking for them but come on). for personality, I really don't mind as long as they have an interesting backstory.( Which is one of the things I don't really like about Layla, but I haven't read any of the books/comics, seen the movie, played any portable game so that might be why I feel Layla has such a bland story)

TL:DR : What are your opinions on offing Desmond? How long do you feel they should keep Layla? What do you feel would be the ideal protagonist for the modern section?

How to activate XP boost on Odyssey?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 09:37 PM PST

I recently bought the gold edition on black Friday, and it supposedly comes with an XP booster, but I don't know how to activate it. The DLCS seem to be downloaded, is there something else I need to download?

Odyssey has perhaps the most breathtaking map out of all AC games... but there is one thing that still bothers me about it over a year later

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:01 PM PST

Look the map is simply stunning theres no doubting that at all however, to be honest i hate the fact that a quarter of the map is in perpetual autumn. When i first saw phokis i was blown away by the beauty of the colored leaves and the fall season. Then I went on to see that the entire northern part of the map along with several islands is the same exact way. I really feel it kills the whole island vibe with lesbos thasos lemenos euboa ect. It feels like they were going to originally do a season engine but then scrapped it halfway so made a huge chunk of the map forever stuck in the fall season.

Hypothetical, let’s say if the Ragnarok rumors are true (I believe they are but whatever) I want to have the option of not using the shields

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 06:21 AM PST

I loved the shield gameplay in Origins, but I also loved the non-shield gameplay of Odyssey. So I just hope Ashraf (if he IS the one in charge of Ragnarok) gives us the option to use or not use the shields.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered - I finally beat it, and the ending has my mind blown. (Spoiler Talk)

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:25 AM PST

I picked up the Remaster some time back, but left off around 50% of the story completed. Last night I decided to go back and finish the game, because it really was a great game and 10x better than Unity.

Last night I completed the final sequence and long and behold I was completely blown away that the ending of Rogue were the events that took place in the beginning of Unity. I really didn't expect that, and it's been a while since a game series has looped things together like that for me. I mean the fact that you are the Assassin's/Templar that was responsible for the murder of the Arno's father in the beginning of Unity was just such a great surprise.

Did anyone else enjoy that ending?

What did Odyssey add to the overall story of Assassins Creed?

So last night, I had a dream where I was playing the next Assassin's Creed.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 05:45 AM PST

I don't remember the details fully, but I'll try to remember what I can.

I recall the beginning of the game starting out on a fortress built by some rival army and the female protagonist runs in there, invading the place along your fellow Vikings. There was walls of spiked logs, along with tents and the ground being complete dirt. No grass whatsoever.

You had a companion through the mission, a guy who was kinda like Warlord from For Honor.

And the one thing I recall me doing a lot is jumping on top of enemies and assassinating them, but the main character had some sort of mallet. (My guess for the beginning before you get the hidden blade)

Sadly, that's all I remember. But if I had to guess how the rest goes, it would lead to a boss fight inside a big building. Someone who frequently runs off after trying to attack you from behind.

How to get rid of bounties if there's no option to do so? AC: Odyssey

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 05:33 PM PST

Basically title, there's no option to pay off my bounties on the map and I don't see the red bag thing anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks :).

How does Ubisoft expect us to play through 100+ hours of unimportant, nonsense gameplay that has nothing barring on the overall story at all while keeping us the least engaged and interested we’ve ever been in the game? [Odyssey rant. Apologies in advanced to all who enjoyed the game.]

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:24 PM PST

It's as if the devs and creative team think we're all unemployed kids living with our parents with not much care in the world for productivity or jobs. One of the annoying things in Odyssey for me, and there are many, is the amount of time I must go through to get what I came for. And I came for more of the story, which was disappointing since the writing is still crap and no one gives a shit about the MD. I know I hate on Odyssey a lot but this bugs me so much. I have a job, I study and I have no time for the most useless missions I must begrudgingly get through before I can get a tiny tid bit of information concerning the main stories of MD, the Isu and what the actual fuck is going on with Kassandra and her family, the latter I really don't care much about but since Ive put so many hours into this damn game I am somewhat intrigued and feel I deserve to know the whole story. But I'm also bored as hell with the amount of grinding I have to do to be able to complete these mundane, mindless missions.

Yeah yeah, I complain a lot. Y'all can say I should just drop the game, but I've paid $44 bucks on this thing and I want to know what has happened in 2018 within the AC universe instead of reading a damn wiki article. I just like to get these things off my chest. For context, I've played 25+ hours over the course of 3 months and am slowly getting through Chapter 6. I still need to complete the Fate of Atlantis DLC before I am satisfied and can officially throw this damn disc and its stupid cover in the trash. Apologies for my rant but god no one else will listen to me and I just got to get it out there. I've already posted of two main complains I have seen from some, this is yet another one. Odyssey: Time consuming and yet uninspiring and unforgivable, but definitely forgettable. Should have been the tag line for Odyssey's marketing campaign imo.

Haven't played any new AC's since Rogue and Black Flag, any tips for playing Odyssey?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 01:03 AM PST

I decided to buy AC Odyssey to see how AC has changed (I've also seen videos of it and it looks alright) but I am particularly concerned about the combat system. I'm worried it could be too difficult for me, and I've heard of the easy difficulty/level scaling options they have so was buying Odyssey a good idea after all?

Is the combat easy to get used to or do I have to learn a whole new thing?

So yeah, I am playing Odyssey before Origins. 100 hours in Odyssey now and got Origins a week later. Do I miss out on anything if I played Odyssey first? What am I in for with Origins?

[AC Odyssey] No romance option/dialogue for female love interests when playing as Kassandra so far

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:41 AM PST

No dialogue options with a heart icon popped up during conversations with Odessa, Auxesia or Kyra in my playthrough so far. Lykaon and Thaletas, on the other hand, were available to flirt with.

Can anyone explain this? Did an update make Kassandra straight when I wasn't looking or something? Anyone else come with this issue?

I didn't think I would care so much considering the romance in the game is pretty eh. Until I found that I wasn't able to romance Kyra. I like her.

Why does everyone want feudal Japan????

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:27 AM PST

Am I the only one that sees how shit that would be??? Feudal Japan was not a nice place, the samurai would turn into the mercenaries (cause in Feudal Japan they pretty much were mercinaries) in Odyssey and honestly Japan didn't really even have any of that wonderful architecture except mud huts until the Portuguese first arrived in the 1800s. Alongside other reasons. Edit: Not exactly mud huts but ya know what I mean

AC Audiobook Assassin’s Creed: Gold to be released in February 2020, while no new word on next year’s Assassin’s Creed game. [News + Theory on release date]

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 05:34 AM PST

There was a rumour a few weeks, maybe a month or so ago, that something big for the Assassin's Creed franchise was on the horizons for February next year. Some speculated it could be a game reveal for Assassin's Creed 2020, what is being dubbed by some in the fandom as AC: Ragnarok for it's rumoured setting in the era of the Vikings. But now we know it is the new Audible exclusive audiobook Assassin's Creed: Gold that is set for a February release. With the new PS5 and XBox set to be released late next year, around the Christmas period I'm sure, I can almost certainly theorise that a new game release won't be happening until October-December 2020, which fits the release cycle of every other AC game to date. It makes sense for Ubisoft to await the new hardware's release so they can show off the prowess of the new game on next gen systems, increasing sales as it hits the shelves in stores and house holds through Christmas. What I can hope and what may be likely is details emerging about the new game as AC: Gold hits the "digital stands", as it were. I'm guessing an E3 trailer in June and a release in November. But as of now, Ubisoft has been very secretive on their new project for the franchise. Y'all can read more here.
