Modern Day protagonist should be more like Lara Croft, interested in archeology and history but serious about the subject and eventually finding about the assassin Templar war

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 04:21 PM PST

Instead of the more careless, casual, willfully unprepared vibe that we get with Layla and her team. The conflict between Assassins and Templars is a serious one as are the artifacts. The modern day protagonist should reflect the seriousness of these themes and embrace the struggle, instead of taking it for granted. Also show how the modern day protagonist has fighting or parkour skills that make the order want to have her as an ally beyond just animus reasons

    Custom Assassin's Creed Khukuri

    Custom Assassin's Creed Khukuri

Hey guys! I run a knife business called Kailash Blades and we recently had a customer commission a custom khukuri based on a few different knives from Assassin's Creed: Syndicate! The final blade not only looks awesome but has been forged by hand over coals in the nepalese tradition, has a great feel in hand and should be ready to work hard.

    https://preview.redd.it/1tzoa7t70e141.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8904f3891da5657df9c8ee3ee8e73d5cfdf52d2f

The customer we made this for was great to work with- he had a really good idea of what he wanted from his knife and also had a realistic budget for what a knife like this would cost. He picked out some features from a couple of different blades he liked and we mashed them together into one image for an idea of the general vibe.

    https://preview.redd.it/h0wedjn33e141.jpg?width=840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e1bd68f9e3048692a99d88f68200115fcbdb99e

Once that was sorted out we went into the details of the knife. Materials, engraving, thicknesses, balance what kind of cutting it was going to be used for and moved to a workshop drawing of the knife that our blacksmiths could actually make.

    https://preview.redd.it/5o7ej2kc3e141.jpg?width=2849&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54dfaf51346043f1531bb799ea76ae8ae5699438

Once we'd locked in the design and sorted out payment we got to work. There's a bunch of construction pics on our instagram and facebook-too many to post here. So here's just one for an idea of what it looked like after a rough grind.

    https://preview.redd.it/uffaf9c64e141.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e94ae0792eff9c4fde555071b4f762266d7fa93

The Final knife was given a rugged stacked buffalo leather sheath as it's not just going to be a wall hanger- this blad eis going to be taken on camping trips and given a decent workout. The customer was very patient with us during some delays in production and is stoked to have finally received it.

And before you ask, yes we actually have another assassin's creed custom in the books. A broken spear of leonidas!Stay tuned for that one or check out or instagram/facebook for the pattern drawing. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll help you out as best as I can!
Take care, Andrew and the team at Kailash Blades

I think Quebec didn't want to make an "Assassins Creed"

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:53 AM PST

After following the development of Odyssey and early concept arts I was wondering if Odyssey was always planed as a Main AC Title.

    https://twitter.com/thecodexnetwork/status/1086559375014219776

The Story and the gameplay more feels like that it should be a Spin Off or it was at first a title of Quebec what haven't anything to do with AC at all. But maybe Ubisoft wanted the AC name on it so it would sell better. On the other hand it has identical gameplay to Origins and took a lot of it. As a Spin off it would have definitely worked better and could have not created so many problems with the lore. Also the DLC Episodes feel more like that the created forced connections so that Odyssey fit somehow in the series.

Maybe the got now creative freedom with their new IP Gods and Monsters and we get an Assassins Creed again with the next game.

    Yearly "Assassin or Templar?" Post

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 10:41 PM PST

Haven't seen anyone do it yet so far so let's have a nice philosophical about our two favorite organizations. Let's start off with some rules (since we need some)

    1. Don't be toxic because someone doesn't agree with you
    2. Don't just say "ASSASSIN FTW!" or "TEMPLAR FTW" list an actual reason you support the group you put
    3. Keep an open mind, this isn't about the characters in the group it's about the pure views and opinions of both groups.
    4. Follow the rest of the SR's rules and reddit's rules in general

With that let's get into it. I'll list off my opinions on both groups, say which one I'd go for and then let ya'll duke it out in the comments.

    Assassins;

I was a big Assassin fan when I got into the series, I'm a pure american boy so ensuring freedom for others sounded like a done deal. I can see where they're coming from, not wanting humanity enslaved and wanting freedom to think the way they want. I considered them the good guys due to them always having the goal to give humanity everything, believing that humans would be too content with their true freedom that there would be true peace. I thought it was noble, true peace through true freedom, no laws, nothing, that's what true freedom is. I knew that the Assassin's goals weren't peace itself but freedom and therefore peace, which to my young brain made a lot of sense. Then, I think, I grew up. Saw the world for how it is, people take what freedom they have for granted, murdering innocent people due to different views, religion, or just plain drunkenness.

    Templars;

Now, the Templar goal is peace. Through and through it is peace. Which is noble, peace through control I could never stand behind. As life went on I grew more and more interested in that idea. I asked myself, "If someone was truly in control, bringing the world under one banner is that so bad?" "Would it be so bad to be controlled if it meant there was no more murder? No more war?" I knew it was naive but those questions just kept in the back in my head the more I thought about it. I knew if so, it'd be easily corruptible (as shown in the games even tho this is just philosophical) but if you could do it, for good, able to resist the craving of power humans naturally have could we actually have peace? Then I did more and more research, learned what I could and came to the conclusion of my alignment. The Templar's actual goal is to enlighten humanity, to cause us to evolve from this natural stupidity we have. I knew a utopia would never be possible, utopia's require everything to be perfect. I did more reading, thinking more and more, then I found it. Influence humanity to restrain themselves, to have discipline. To give better governmental control, to be the guiding hand for humanity.

Peace through freedom doesn't automatically mean anarchy. Peace through order/control doesn't automatically mean dictatorship. Humans are humans, we're savage and surprising, able to plan and think. We're the smartest animal on this planet but we need those who will guide us to a higher stage and those who will stop the one in charge at the first sign of corruption. Humanity has the capability to do great things.

So yeah I'm basically like a moderate Templar? Moderate sounds right since I don't wanna have total control just push em in the right direction. Soooo go ahead and post your side in the discussion, Idk if someone did this before recently, I'm gonna check one more time then post this. So have fun ac reddit, goodnight

Imo shao Jun should have gotten her own game.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:49 PM PST

Just seems like a good fit with the setting and it could've taken place right after embers. It would've been a good intro for the black flag/3/rogue engine if it ran on it.

    What does everyone else think?

Assassin's Creed Black Flag is the best Assassin's Creed till date.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:44 AM PST

Assassin's Creed Black Flag is the greatest AC ever made. Yes. Above II. This is my opinion, feel free to cross me, but stay polite. On with my arguments:

•Naval combat. People say it's a bad addition to the game, but it feels like a breath of fresh air. Like, after playing III, I was very skeptical about 4, being basically centered around Naval combat, but I don't know what they did with it, it's just so good. The whole naval gameplay. The shanties, the sail flurrying in the wind, the water gleaming in the sunlight, as Jackdaw sails with it's captain on board, to plunder a great prize. Priceless.

•Gamplay. This is like, mostly non-arguable. He combat in Black Flag is good. It's brutal, easy to learn but very difficult to master, and very satisfying. Of course their are some glitches guy aims at the left, shoots me standing behind me, but being such an old game, it's overruled, I guess. The action sequences play out really well, as well as the chases. I really liked the addition of the sequences when you run through a window or something to hide yourself, sort of like entering a building. It really looks epic.

•Story. It's not a story about ideals of the Creed, revenge against the bad guys or good against evil stuff. It's a humane story about a fucking selfish and gaunt guy who realizes what life is as he slowly transforms from a drunk sailor searching for gold to a man who knows too much, a wise man with a troubled past. It's the best character arc imo, better than Ezio. (Fight me)

•Not being an Assassin's Creed game. Well, I think it's the most definite Assassin's Creed game. In all other games you already are an Assassin, or have a dad or bro in the group, and it's basically all about the Creed and everything is permitted and nothing is true. Black Flag questions it, through a man who slowly becomes an Assassin. It's about the journey of becoming an Assassin, which is the ideal Assassin's Creed game. How a pirate goes through encounters which changes his entire life, and how he becomes a master assassin.

•Modern-Day gameplay. Okay, alright, not the best. WE MISS YOU DESMOND! It's basically just go here and go there and oh back here and crap I forgot go there as well, and do stupid shit like hacking your coworkers' computers. Why would I back computers Jeffrey? Isn't that ILLEGAL?! The gameplay sucks, admittedly. But when you actually get into it(it's hard, I get it, but try) the modern day story is actually pretty interesting. Check out all the abstergo manuals and stuff you have on your tablet (I don't know what they call it, sorry). It's actually very detailed. It's not the best, but definitely better than other games' modern-day stories cough Syndicate cough.

All in all, it's the best game in Assassin's Creed franchise. Fight me.

PS: Actually no don't fight me I'm weak. But yeah, feel free to out down your opinions.

Was Cesare Borgia really a Templar?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 07:59 AM PST

Throughout Brotherhood he seemed to lack any of the Templar ideals and instead used his power and the Apple for his own personal benefit of controlling Italy. His father who was the grand master even disagreed with him and refused to support him for a time. Although he was an excellent villain, could we actually consider him a real Templar?

    AC: Origins NG+ question

    Posted: 29 Nov 2019 12:21 AM PST

I've almost finished Origins and it's DLC's but it's been quite a while (two years?) so I don't know if I can continue the playthrough. I already installed the game and run around a bit, until I discovered that this game too has a NG+ mode.

If I'd start a new playthrough in NG+, do I still have to level up between missions or can I just choose to do the main story and DLC's (+some additional exploration)?

Looking for a specific song from AC Origins

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 03:22 PM PST

    Hello everyone!

I recently started playing ACO and I have fallen in love with the song that plays when you go into the pyramids or find old ruins.

It's sort of a childrens choir singing this creepy tune and I don't seem to find it on any of the soundtrack released. Anyone know the melody I'm talking about and can point me the right way?

Which assassin's creed is the best?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:32 PM PST

Now this is purely subjective and not objective but i wanted to know what the community thinks of each game, which is the best, and why do you think that. I started playing with AC brotherhoodx i love it but the controls aren't very great, but it still has a lot of good feelings for me.

If I buy Origins/Odyssey now, do I get the Discovery Tours for free or will I need to buy them separately?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 02:13 PM PST

I know they were free to owners of the games, but is that just for people who owned the games on release or is that for anyone who buys them in the future too?
I've tried looking online and I cannot find any definitive answers.

AC Odyssey #39 Game of the Decade (VG247)

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 05:57 AM PST

    https://www.vg247.com/2019/11/27/best-video-games-of-the-decade-the-top-50-games-from-2010-2020-ranked/amp/

In their games of the decade list, Odyssey came in at #39.

    Impressive:

"For a long while, Assassin's Creed was treading water. Caught tonally between a po-faced sci-fi frame going nowhere and Charles Dickens running a ghostbusting detective agency, the series found a new RPG-flavoured direction with Assassin's Creed Origins. Odyssey then took those ideas and ran to the top of Mount Olympus, expanding and improving on almost every single aspect to create a game as deep as the River Styx.

Ancient Greece is a joy to explore, and is densely packed with three main narrative arcs, tons of story-driven side quests, tens of assassination targets to hunt down, naval combat, collect-a-thon loot, and bloodythirsty mercenaries desperate to claim the bounty on your head.

Alexios and Kassandra are charmingly portrayed on just the right side of goofy, and the progression of the modern day story – especially in the Fate of Atlantis DLC – does right by long-time fans. Also, shout out to Discovery Tour – where you can wander the Penopolese peninsula without quests and enemies and listen to lectures about Ancient Greek culture and landmarks – as one of the most bafflingly cool post-launch features I've even seen added to a game."

Edit: It didnt take long for the "Odyssey sucks" crowd to implant their mark. Even the mere thought of someone daring to show appreciation for Odyssey (or Origins) ticks these people off. I would say its sad but I find it quite amusing. They just cannot accept that not everyone thinks as they do and that Odyssey despite their hate is a game enjoyed by many.

Returning to the series after all these years

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:15 AM PST

I was a big fan of AC1->3. Black flag was great fun but I ran out of steam with the series with perhaps 10% of the main story left. After this my PC broke down. A few years later, I got myself a PS4 and picked up a bundle of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate. I liked it, but didn't have the time or energy to get very far in any of them. Didn't bother to get Origins, mostly due to time restraints but also not being what I wanted from the series next.

I'm one of the perhaps few people who really liked the modern day storylines. To me, they are the core of the series. The historical settings are great for Gameplay and setting but the modern day is what drives me to finish the stories.

I got excited for Google Stadia when it was announced and pre-ordered into the early access. It would enable be to play more often. Finally got it last week and was impressed with how well it worked for me. Odyssey was one of the games that intrigued me. The reviews are good, I used to like the series a bit of input lag wouldn't be too much of an issue and it would keep me occupied for a long time.

First thing I noticed, the modern day intrigues me again! (I'll have to watch a recap of the modern story in origins!) The game feels like a mix between Witcher 3 (which I also love) and AC. The historical incorrectness doesn't bother me like I though it would and I'm really loving it!

With the rumors of a Viking themed follow-up, I'm feeling excited about not just Assassin's Creed but also gaming as a whole. As a Swedish guy, northern Europe would be so much fun! And Stadia's accessibility means I can actually find opportunities to play again, despite having 2 young kids

I get that Odyssey wasn't what a lot of people wanted from the series. At the same time, it's a great game. Either way, I'm having fun at lunch at work, squeezing in game time before I go to bed etc.

Sorry, just needed to express myself about the game somewhere. None of my old friends play anymore :p

    [SPOILERS] Kodros the Bull?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 09:59 AM PST

    (Question regarding Odyssey)

Supposedly you can kill him during the side quest Chip On Your Shoulder, but I've already done that side quest and it sure doesn't look like I've beat him. Is there some glitch or something? I've just managed to beat every other cultist and unveiled the Ghost, I really don't want to have to gain another 20 levels to be able to beat Titos of Athens to get to Kodros... (I've also read that you should get the clues for Kodros by killing Podarkes, but he's already dead as well, so I dunno..)

AC Odyssey: No customize control option in settings?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:50 AM PST

So I know I'm a little late (I just got Odyssey) but I was trying to apply that glitch to level up where you set your crouch and recruit buttons to be the same. The only problem is there is literally no option for me to customize controls in the settings. I'm on PS4. On YouTube I've seen the option plain as day but on my game it's not there. My game is version 1.00, is the customize control feature only added in the updates? If that's the case then does this mean I can never apply this glitch now because it has since been patched out as of today and there is no way to update the game partially? (As in if I update my game on PS4 it HAS to download ALL available patches to bring it completely up to date)

The game is really good and I really enjoy doing all the side quests a lot, but the leveling is a little slow I only want to push myself up a few levels so I can continue the story that's all. It's a little too time consuming to level up so much just to continue the story because even on easy, in certain areas I can get one hitted by a goat.

    Thanks for any advice!

Will Montreal follow Quebec's lead ?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 04:47 AM PST

Many people think that the heavy fucus on mythology and fantasy elements of Odyssey was an one off thing and a test for Gods and Monsters . However I believe the next game will continue this trend (for better or worse) . From a business perspective it makes sense as Odyssey was a financial success for ubisoft . What do you think will happen ? While I know most fans dislike the approach Ubisoft has taken , me myself am indifferent as the only thing I want is a good game .

Bought Odyssey Season Pass, Now A Question (possible spoilers)

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 10:38 AM PST

So I got assassins creed odyssey a long time ago, maybe two weeks after it was released. I play on xbox, but that doesn't really have anything to do with my question.

During my time playing I ended up getting distracted by another game I started playing with friends (can't remember which game though). I was pretty far, I had met the guy about Atlantis and was going somewhere I don't remember where.

I hunted a lot of the cultists and got quite a few upgrades. But I just... don't remember what was going on. I also played as Cassandra.

Should I restart? I have no idea what the story is, should I play as Alexios or maybe Cassandra (I want her to bench press me). I want to play through the entire game, dlc and all.

    What do you guys think?
