We should bring back Villa Auditorie/The Homestead/Influencing the Economy for AC Vikings.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 10:10 AM PDT

I love games where your choices and decisions impacts the greater game world.

In AC Brotherhood, the player could buy businesses and shops that directly impacted the worlds economy.

In AC3 the player could launch convoys that needed defense and could even be attacked. These convoys took time, men, and resources.

If the next AC is indeed Vikings, and spans the distance of another entire country, I think it would be cool to allow the player to set up multiple bases throughout the world.

Maybe the player could recruit NPC's with different abilities, jobs, and personalities and go on quests with them, similar to AC3's Homestead and recruiting sailors in Odyssey.

This could change nearby prices, types of wildlife (when bases get big enough), types of gear available, and give the player an incentive to settle down in a part of the game world for awhile.

Odyssey is fucking HUGE, and it feels like a lot of the time the player is just running around trying to get from A to B. If the player could build bases in the game world the player feels less like they are in the vast wilderness running chores and actually have a real presence there.

Plus the Vikings were huge on settlements, so if the player could establish them that would be rad. Each base being different, giving unique quests and rewards. The player can watch it grow as the upgrade it and recruit new people.

I'm like 30 hours in MAYBE with far less than a quarter of the map discovered and I'm overwhelmed.

Is it over? Did I miss the ending of Odyssey?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 06:57 AM PDT

Myself and my gf have spent the last month or so playing through odyssey, speculating about the narrative and characters etc. and generally enjoyed it.

We played through a bunch of the odyssey quests, finally resulting in getting the family back together. This happened out of nowhere as Deimos just came to us and joined us, totally unprovoked. This felt like the sort of the mid point, we're finally ready to take the fight to the cult and discover the truth.

In order to prepare for that we went and did the mythical creatures, and got the cutscene where you hand of the staff, which was great.

Then, we felt ready to finish the game and to find out how the story ends and reach the game's climax. We went and killed off the rest of the cult, which was pretty meh, given at this point we could one hit assassinate all of them.

FINALLY we're at the ending (I think?) and meet the ghost. We disagree with her and destroy the pyramid in a 60 second interaction.

We're waiting for the next quest ... and then nothing. No resolution? No cutscene or even one line of dialogue.

We're not given another quest to continue, so we presume we need to chat to the family on the ship... but they're silent.

How do we finish this game? Have we finished it? Was the ending really just... silence without answers?

I realise we could have done things in a different order, but none of them feel like they resolve the purpose of the story.

people complain about Aya stealing the show at the end of Origins, but I think the real problem was...[Origins Spoilers]

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:08 PM PDT

fucking Caesar! Don't get me wrong, Caesar is a fascinating historical figure and I would've loved to see an AC game focused on him...

but Origins wasn't the game to do it. It all just felt so rushed and out of place. First of all, Caesar doesn't get introduced until pretty much the final act of the game. Once he does, for several missions in a row we're helping him secure Cleopatra's place on the throne. Then when that's all done and Cleopatra rules as Pharaoh, LITERALLY ONE CUTSCENE LATER they've suddenly turned on our heroes and are now the bad guys.

And we don't even get to assassinate Cleopatra! We go all the way to Rome to give Caesar a shiv to the back, but all Cleopatra gets in the end is a stern warning from Aya. Of course, the inscription on the Amunet statue in AC2 implies that she gets assassinated anyway, but why couldn't they have just put that on screen? Why was there so much focus on Caesar and Cleopatra just ended up being an afterthought?

It just seems like the devs figured "hey, we're never going to do another full game on Rome, so let's throw as much Roman shit into this game as possible to appease the fans!"

Even Pompey's death was rushed and felt crammed in. One cutscene he's meeting Aya and receiving gift's from Cleopatra, the next he's just dead on a pike. Caesar acts sad for like 2 seconds, and then no one brings it up ever again.

If they really wanted to fit Caesar's assassination into this game, they should've done it as a DLC, and left the ending to the main game focused entirely on Cleopatra. Then they could've even given us a small chunk of Rome to explore in freeroam as part of that DLC too (as Aya no less, who was tragically underutilized for the entirety of the game!).

While we're at it, I'm also kind of pissed that they didn't really do the "Origins" part of the title justice. I'm sure the DLCs rectify this a bit, but the main story itself is 95% Bayek hunting down his sons killers, and then we get like 3 cutscenes at the very end where he goes "nah we're the assassins now". I don't know if it's just me, but I was expecting the game to kind of center around that, not have it be thrown in at the very last minute.

Anyway, that's my thoughts on the ending to AC Origins. TL;DR, Cleopatra should've been the final kill, Rome and Caesar should've been a DLC at best, there should've been more focus on actually forming the assassins, and Aya deserved a lot more playtime than just being forced upon us in the final stretch.

    Assassins Creed 1 Remake

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 10:12 PM PDT

Am I the only one who would love a total remake of Assassins Creed 1? Looking back, the game isnt fantastic or a leap in storytelling/gameplay, but I feel as though it easily could be if we got a full remake of the game.

Now I wanna define remake for a quick second. I dont mean a remaster like the Ezio Collection or Assassin's Creed III and Rogue. I mean Resident Evil 2 Style remake built from the ground up.

If they keep the core identity of the story and gameplay I think it could be really cool to see a revamped version of the game. Altaïr was a really cool protagonist that we hear a ton about but never really fully see in action. Sure, we have Assassin's Creed Revelations to fill in some of the gaps, but I feel there could always be more.

[SPOILERS] On the Consistency of the Franchise's Lore

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 11:22 AM PDT

Before I begin, keep this image open in a separate tab, and have a good look at it.

Notice the red sash Altair, Ezio, Connor, and Edward have for their belts?

    Coincidence? I think not.

I hereby hypothesize that the red sash was a symbol of camaraderie among the members of the Brotherhood which found its way into their assassin attire, but here's the interesting part. Altair, Ezio, Connor, and Edward - all of them are wearing the same sash. Imagine, the same sash passed across generations of assassins. All this time, Altair's red sash has been a recurring element in the games, a reminder of the Brotherhood in Masyaf.

But the theory goes deeper. With u/Lacrossedeamon 's expertise it has been established that the sash was obviously given to Elpidios by Kassandra. If you remember Legacy of the First Blade's ending, there's this touching scene involving legendary proto-assassin Darius (who forgot to file the copyright application for Assassin's CreedTM before Bayek of Siwa), Elpidios, and the Pyramids of Giza being built a tad too late. That scene is solid evidence of Elpidios and his descendants wearing a similar sash which is finally passed on to Aya.

What does Aya do with it you ask? Well, she gives it to her husband, Bayek. But Bayek wouldn't come to wear this sash until his copyright application for Assassin's CreedTM was formally approved, therefore the first appearance of Bayek with this famed sash was in the Hidden Ones DLC. From there on, the sash has passed through centuries of assassins, and of course all our protagonists make the list.

Don't believe me? Have a look at this -

    Ezio (AC2)

    Ezio (Revelations)

Shay Patrick Cormac (Before his defection)

Arno Dorian (Arno, keeping in line with the dimwit he is, wears the sash as a cravat instead, which was the forerunner of the modern necktie or bowtie)

Jacob Frye (Notice the belt, not the tie)

    One sash, eleven installments.

    Such consistency. Much applause.

Fear not fellow community members, the lore cannot possibly be in better hands right now.

Cautionary Note: The radical proponents of this theory claim Altair, Ezio, Connor and Edward have actually inherited the exact same robe across centuries, not just the sash. I think this might be a bit of a giant leap, therefore I refrained from promoting this particular claim.

And this is what happens when you invent moronic facts of the likes of Connor inheriting Edward's robes

Rogue is the most underrated title in the series

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:44 AM PDT

A common trend I see around this sub is how 2014's Assassin's Creed Rogue is a "copypaste" or "reskin" of its immediate predecessor, IV: Black Flag.

Given how Ubisoft Sofia did have just 1 year and a much smaller budget to deliver the game, this is true to an extent. However, you can also consider Brotherhood a "AC2 reskin" and be right, yet saying that tells nothing about either game...

Okay then. What is so good about Rogue?

    Glad you asked:

    • Unique story (play as a Templar)
    • Stalkers (1st time in the series we gotta watch our step in town and feel like we fight a secret war)
    • The Morrigan (nimbler and deadlier than the Jackdaw, with plenty of new tricks)
    • A huge city full of parkour goodness (especially compared to its AC3 version; this map is actually the largest urban map of the series until Unity).
    • Full-blown control over parkour, AC2-style (bad for some things, but the lack of automation improved others)
    • Icebergs (seriously. It makes big naval combat play quite differently)
    • Air gun (you get it very early for some lovely chaos)
    • Best board games in the series
    • Awesome setting (the New World during the Age of Sail during a war between the world's foremost naval powers)
    • Renovation (a profitable collectible)
    • Collectibles are actually pretty good (most require some mental exercise or give some degree of short-term rewards)
    • No microtransactions or XP boosters (it doesn't need it)
    • Best outfits (from Altair to Edward to Aguilar to Bayek in the remaster)
    • Zero "extra story in the paid DLC" (only DLCs are gameplay-focused)
    • Cool outpost looting system
    • Grenade launcher (a game-changer)
    • Modern day is to the point (but filled with nods to the lore)
    • Story never drags (each memory a relevant event)
    • Story doesn't last 100 hours (as most games do these days)
    • Guards can actually be useful by helping you kill/distract gangs
    • Swimming is no longer a mere triviality (freezing is never truly deadly but still keeps you on your toes)
    • Assassination interception is intriguing (and is far better than tailing missions from other games)
    • Bridges the Kenway Saga together into the Initiate Duology (with class)
    • Enemies can drop grenades, bust you from hiding spots, attack from above (using your own tricks against you)
    • No need to grind in order to upgrade gear
    • With the hidden blade, anyone can be killed in a single strike (as it should be)
    • Database is informative (and complete with sarcasm)
    • Naval Campaign actually teaches you a lesson (in Seven Years' War basic geopolitics)
    • You are an Assassin-hunter and a privateer. How many games you can take on both roles?

All in all, Rogue has the problems of the pre-Origins generations but managed to masterfully harness the strengths of everything Ubisoft learned up to that point in 2014. It is the series' true underrated masterpiece.

    What you think?

Change player model in AC Odyssey?

Your Ideas of what the Next assassin's creed game might look like?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 04:42 PM PDT

Pretty sure everyone's probably already talking about it, but let's focus on GAMEPLAY as opposed to setting. What new ideas or features do you think fit in the Assassin's creed series? Or what features (microtransactions) can be removed to make the experience better?

AC Od vs AC Or - NPC Activity

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:25 PM PDT

So, I'm trying to figure out if Origins has better AI/NPC variety than Odyssey. I think it does, but I also kind of feel like I'm going insane. So, this is here to confirm either way.

    What I've noticed so far:

    Origins -

    • NPCs will chase you on horse-back. Enemies will also engage you on horse-back. If you flee, they will chase you pretty relentlessly.
    • Archer will mount a horse, kite you, and shoot you.
    • Bandits will run into NPCs randomly and attack them.
    • Rebels will sometimes prompt you to aid them as they randomly show up and attack soldiers.
    • Enemies will search through bushes quite a distance to root you out if an alarm sounds.
    • If you are engaging enemies in a coastal area and a ship carrying their troops spots you, the ship's troops will shoot arrows at you. The ship will move to a dock while they fire at you, and the troops will disembark to provide re-enforcement against you.
    • Animals will attack NPCs.
    • Protesting Civilian NPCs will sometimes swarm towards areas if you kill the guards protecting the area they are protesting outside.
    • Civilians seem to have day-night cycles where they will walk around and do different activities.

    Odyssey -

    • NPCs dismount from horse-back upon engaging you. If you flee, they will not mount up to chase you.
    • Archers will stand and attack you, rarely retreating.
    • Ships will randomly engage each-other in combat, in accordance with their faction.
    • Haven't seen many land-based random enemy encounters.
    • Enemies don't seem to search far for you (no alarm, haven't tested with an alarm yet).
    • Haven't seen enemy ships engage you while you are on land yet.
    • Animals will attack NPCs, haven't seen faction patrols fight opposing faction patrols yet.
    • Civilians don't seem to do different activities, other than what they are doing when you see them. When I try meditating, they are doing the same thing after. When I bump into them to stop them from doing what they are doing, they go right back to it after.

I'm trying to figure out if Origins does indeed have better AI activity/variety. Maybe I'm going crazy, idk. But I need to know now.

Can anyone help shed some light on this?

Some particular questions, though any other information/observations on NPC activity in the two games is welcome:

    • In Odyssey, do Spartans and Athenians randomly fight outside of battles?
    • In Odyssey, do bandits randomly fight others?
    • In Odyssey, do civilians do a variety of things as they do in Origins?
    • In Odyssey, are there any "cities" or "villages" where all the guards are hostile. Think like the 'granary' from AC Origins, where it was pretty much a small village and all the guards were hostile inside. (Not really AI behavior related, just curious)

Can you upgrade Evie's stats on your ship?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 06:39 PM PDT

So I just bought this game a year late on Xbox one (got the 120$ version for 40 bucks) and there is a lot more to this game than Origins. I just got off the first island, got my ship, and with that version I bought came Evie as a Lieutenant. I installed her a a lieutenant immediately, but her stats are pretty terrible for a Legendary npc. I looked around and saw other players had much better stats for her than mine. Does her stats improve or can I improve them myself? Or is it a situation where I should have waited till I was higher level before I installed her?

    How about a historical series

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 12:35 PM PDT

How about a spin off series which explores only the historical setting . One where you are a Ronan soldier not an assassin or you are a revloutinarie. They could even just say it's people accessing memories in the Animus to tie it in. Any thoughts and any settings you'd like to visit or revisit without the whole assasins vs Templar thing.

    Unique Ideas for New Setting?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 07:37 AM PDT

Hoping to start a general discussion here. There are a lot of articles online discussing future AC settings and characters. Anyone here have any unique theories as to where they will go in future games? I know that a Scandinavian/Viking setting is the current expectation for next year, unless they throw us a curve ball.

I know some ideas have their detractors, personally, I would love to see a main installment of the October Revolution or even World War II. I know the former was featured in AC: Chronicles, but I would love to see it play out in a main sequel.

Anyone have a burning idea that hasn't been shared much? Or at all?
