If Assassin's Creed was a TV show... (Part 1/?) [Spoilers for AC1)

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 09:22 AM PDT

I recently came across this post, which prompted me to think about what a faithful adaptation of the Assassin's Creed fanchise would look like if translated to a television series. Since I'm a filmmaker (although, sadly, not one big enough to make this happen), I thought it could be fun- and a good writing exercise for me- to write up some drafts of what this show would look like. I also figured, if I'm writing it anyway, why not share it with you guys? Maybe you'll appreciate it.

ASSASSIN'S CREED: SEASON 1 would be subtitled 'The Secret Crusade'. Going for a subtitle on every season, because it looks nice, and helps it feel like an anthology series (even though it's still connected by it's modern day storyline).

EPISODE 1: ANIMUS (Memory Block 1)
This episode would work as the introduction of main-main character, Desmond Miles. We meet him, follow his life as a bartender for a bit, he has a one night stand (with Elijah's mother, you know, set-up multiple seasons in advance of the payoff). Maybe we can have some vague nods to his childhood on the Farm.

The show then kicks into high gear as he gets kidnapped, thrown into the animus by Warren Viddic and Lucy Stillman, and we get introduced to all the main concepts. Imagine the start of the game, basically- we learn about the Animus, how it works, why Desmond is in there, etc. Inside the Animus, we follow the story of Altaïr. Starting at his introduction, through the Siege of Masyaf, up to the point where he gets demoted and stabbed by Al Mualim. Lucy pulls Desmond out of the animus. Desmond eavesdrops, gets locked in his room, and goes to sleep- the episode ends with a shot of the big blank wall above his bed.

EPISODE 2: BROTHERS (Memory Block 2)
The episode starts with Desmond waking up to Warren Viddic standing over him, hinting at his true colours, and leading Desmond back into the lab. He makes some friendly conversation with Lucy about being an Assassin, and how the Templars found him, before going back into the Animus. We follow Altaïr's story as he gets his assassination orders, killing the traitor, and investigating Tamir. His story this episode ends when he assassinates Tamir, who reveals he is "but a man with a part to play". In the mean time, Desmond's story consists of him snooping around, and talking to Lucy some more, ending in a screaming match (in which she insists he's safer here) as he storms off to bed.

EPISODE 3: THE HOLY LAND (Memory Block 3)
The episode starts with Desmond being woken up by Warren Viddic. While waiting for Lucy to arrive, they strike up a conversation about the why of things, and when Lucy walks in Desmond returns to the Animus. In Altaïr's story, he assassinates Garnier de Naplouse and Talal, before the animus overheats. While Warren storms out to find technicians to fix it, Desmond apologises for screaming at her the night before, and they talk about her past. She advises him to get some rest as she and a team of technicians get to work on the Animus.

EPISODE 4: WHERE TO LOOK (Memory Block 4)
The episode starts - you guessed it - with Desmond being woken up by Warren Viddic, who cheerfully informs him that Lucy has modified the Animus so he can stay in there for longer now. He name-drops "Those Who Came Before" while talking about the Pieces of Eden, and Desmond goes back into the Animus. In Altaïr's story, the assassinations of Abu'l Nuqoud, Majd Addin, and William of Montferrat take place. They hint at the true identity of the traitor, the corrupted motivations of the Assassins, and Altaïr's darker side. Desmond is pulled out of the Animus by Viddic, who is concerned about a rescue attempt mounted by the Assassins. As he leaves, Lucy reveals Abstergo to be the Templars. She is then called away and leaves, but not before giving Desmond one final piece of advice: "The answers to all your questions are right in front of you. You just have to know where to look."

EPISODE 5: NOTHING IS TRUE (Memory Block 5 & 6)
Desmond wakes up, without Viddic this time, and is ordered to get into the Animus immediately. This episode has most of it's focus on Altaïr, as we watch him assassinate more of his targets- starting with Jubair Al Hakim and Sibrand. After the latter, Desmond is ejected from the Animus, where he hears Viddic walk off to some other business while he tells Lucy they continue working. Desmond and Lucy share a quick conversation about Abstergo's goals and the Animus before Viddic returns and Desmond quickly returns to the Animus, pretending he was out the whole time. Altaïr attends the funeral ambush, meets Maria, and goes to assassinate Robert de Sable, who reveals that Al Mualim is the final Templar. Desmond is pulled out of the Animus by a raging Viddic, accusing Desmond of contacting the Assassins somehow- they are here to rescue him, but are quickly massacred. Viddic leaves, stating that "tomorrow... we finish this."

EPISODE 6: EAGLE VISION (Memory Block 7 & AC2 Prologue)
Desmond wakes up, and is thrown into the Animus. Altaïr defeats Al Mualim, but fails to destroy the Apple, giving Abstergo access to the Map of Eden. Desmond awakens from the animus to see Viddic, ordering the Templars to find the pieces of Eden, before giving the order to kill Desmond. Lucy prevents this, and as Viddic tells her to lock Desmond in his room, he starts to see strange markings on the floor and walls of the lab. Before locking him in, Lucy reveals herself to be an Assassin to Desmond by tucking in her ring finger. He has another Eagle Vision attack, seeing the entire wall above his bed full of markings, and blacks out. He is woken up by Lucy, who is now covered in blood, and in a rush. She tells him they need to go, now. She puts him back in the animus to relive the birth of Ezio Auditore. As he exits the Animus, she copies the files onto a USB, and they escape the Abstergo facility. The episode (and season) ends with Desmond climbing into the back of Lucy's car, as she states "we're almost there" and shuts the trunk.

That's my idea for the first season of an Assassin's Creed TV show! I thought of incorporating Bloodlines but it messes with the flow of the story a lot- that's why I think the best way to do that would be a one-off episode, like a special that focuses only on events that happened in the past, because our modern-day protagonists don't know or care about that part of Altaïr's story.

I want to do more of these, at least until I reach a natural and statisfying conclusion- that might be Assassin's Creed III, that might be the Uprising comics. If I do make it past Assassin's Creed III I'll have to throw around and puzzle with some of the canon MD lore to make it work nicely on TV, which might be an interesting exercise!

Let me know what you think, and if you want to read more :)

How do other buffs work with health capped at 25%? (odyssey)

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 07:30 AM PDT

So I have a spear I'm using on my hybrid warrior/assassin build that has the engraving "+100% dam but health caped at 25%". What i'm wondering about are engravings that have the condition of full health or low health. If it's capped at 25% does that count as low health or does it count as full health?

Was Legacy of the First Blade written from someone who has no Idea about Assassins Creed?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 12:38 PM PDT

I'm just curious who has written the Legacy of the First Blade DLC?

Someone says that it was Sam Gill who was before at EA, and that he need to look at the AC Wiki because he doesnt know anything about the Lore and so my question is this true? And why did Ubisoft hired an writer who doesnt know the Series and its Lore?

My Problem With Where the Series is Going

    Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:13 AM PDT

Let me start by saying this: Origins and Odyssey are great games. Origins, as we all know, is where the franchise took its first step away from its gameplay foundations. Odyssey took the direction even further away. I do still enjoy these games; they're a lot of fun to play, so well done Ubi in that regard.

My problem, however, is that because these games are Assassin's Creed in name (and a few other elements like overall story, some residual gameplay mechanics), we aren't getting the Assassin's Creed games that we want. Or at least the games that a good chunk of the fanbase wants.

I would be totally happy if Ubi released these new RPGs under a different name. And I know they have said that Assassin's Creed is about experiencing different periods in history, and that is what they fundamentally define as an Assassin's Creed title, but I do still wish that we had AC games like those of the past.

Imagine if Patrice was still directing these games and Corey still writing. That would be incredible.

What the hell happened between the time Cesare was arrested and when Ezio confronts him on the battlefield? Did I miss something? Did it really take 4 years for Ezio to track him down? It felt rushed.

What is your favourite memory of Assassin's Creed as a franchise?

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 06:39 AM PDT

I find that there's a lot of negativity in this subreddit, complaints about this and that (I'm not saying all of them are unwarranted at all) so I thought it would be nice to have a thread for positivity!

I'd like to know what everyone's favourite memory is of the franchise, be it a specific part of a game, a real life event or emotion tied to the franchise, anything.

For me, it was having the first Assassin's Creed game as my first game of that console generation (I was fairly young at the time) and realising you can 1-hit Al Mualim at the end of the game with the hidden blade counter. I ran into my brother's room shouting about it and he couldn't believe it, so when I replayed the game, I called him in to prove it.

Also, for me, it's the eagerness of games being teased and trailers coming out as the weather here in England gets progressively colder and then, usually around the start of winter or the end of autumn/fall, my favourite seasons, the game gets released and I impatiently wait for that delivery of a special edition I pre ordered, having a week off of work (now that I'm old enough) or coming in from school/college to cosy up and play the new experience.

This franchise has given me so much joy, I'd love to hear the joy it brought other people!

Assassin's Creed movie / tv franchise idea

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 01:16 PM PDT

How would you guys feel if there were an Assassin's Creed TV show and multiple movies...but structured better?

I saw the first movie that had Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard and I personally didn't like the movie much and would preferred if it they were separated.

So the idea is that every Assassin's Creed movie would focus on a new assassin and a new time era. They would act as standalone movies, separate assassins in each and there would be no trying to tie the whole thing together like DCEU were trying to do. When I think of this way of making an Assassin's Creed movie, it reminds of Pirates of the Caribbean and Black Flags.

Then...there could be an Assassin's Creed TV show that would act in the same format as Westworld and teasing the ISU, Eve, Adam and Eden and having the usual flash-forwards stuff which would flow better and allow the producers to fully explore the universe and the lore whilst giving us interesting takes on historical events.

AC: Unity and Nomad Points in 2019

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 01:48 PM PDT

I've looked all over and not found a conclusive answer to this question, so I came here: is there any trick to fix stuck Nomad Points today, since I can't sync with the app? I have an old save that I'm trying to complete 100%, and I know Nomad Points don't contribute, but I'm trying to clear the map. I feel like I've retrieved several and seen them removed from the map, but there's one that shows grayish on the full map (I think because of altitude difference, but I'm not positive) that I can't collect; it's on top of Hotel de Ville, gold and spinny, but it's a little twitchy and can't be picked up. Any hints, explanations, or suggestions on how to retrieve the point or fix the glitch? Thanks in advance!

    The end of assassins creed

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 02:02 PM PDT

I love the assassins creed franchise, and I would think that it wouldn't end anytime soon but I think it would be good to say this in that the assassins creed series (which I'm going to call ac now) should end with a modern day game. It could be anybody but I believe that the best person would be Elijah Desmond son. It would be good to see him in the brotherhood and doing missions for the brotherhood as in he could hunt down some modern Templars or abstrgo agents. instead of taking all of the game in one city he could travel the world to Spain, America, Italy , France, and all the places in the previous games. It would be nice to touch on some cultural stuff like day of the dead I could see him track a target in that

    Hope you like my idea

Ac unity is a good ac game

    Posted: 23 Oct 2019 02:26 AM PDT

Just hear me out, yes it started with a lot of glitches and bugs, but most of them are gone

Here is what i think what makes ac unity good: its atmosphere, you can really feel the chaos that the france revolution has brought over france. In games like black flag the streets where also busy and chaotic, but unity has a different kind of chaos. Its a chaos with something darker underneath. I dont know how to really explain it, but im just loving the feeling when i am walking trough the streets

Besides that, i like arno as an assassin, and it was one of the first games where the combat good(altough i loved to assassinate in ac3) and last but not least, its parkour was amazing, maybe the best in all the ac games.

But the main point is that i love the atmosphere
