Imagine a spy themed Assassin's Creed based in Berlin during the Cold War Posted: 23 Sep 2019 11:58 AM PDT I was in Germany last month and spent some time in Berlin. And all I could think is how great a game set in Cold War Berlin would be. As I begin to discuss my idea of what the game could be, try to imagine a game similar to the older AC games, with some elements of splinter cell and watch dogs legion. First off, if Ubisoft designed it right, you could make it a real return to form for the series' stealth roots. (Don't get me wrong I also like the RPG style, but I loved the older games too.) You could make it so you can't resort to just shooting every guard. You would have to use blades and silenced arms. Honestly, how could you hide anything bigger than a pistol or small SMG in a coat? Maybe you could pick up an AK or sniper from a guard and use it for a short time but that's it. Think of how splinter cell games would still force you to use stealth even though you could use firearms. (I know that's a major reason why Ubisoft doesn't like the idea of modern day Assassin's Creed games. Most settings I understand that sentiment. You can't make a WW2 or even WW1 setting without losing some of that Assassin's Creed charm. The setting is perfect for the struggle between the Assassins and Templars. Templars are all about control so they would obviously dig the East German (USSR) side and the assassins would be fighting the regime by trying to sneak people across the Berlin Wall to the freedom of the west. This would also fit in well with the new mechanics from watch dogs legion. You could more or less control the resistance cell in Berlin. Each time you go over the wall to the east, you could find new people to recruit and try to sneak across the wall. These people's stats would display as if it was their "papers" and show their special abilities as well. Some could even be undercover operatives for the KGB or Stasi and lead to you having to encounter more enemy resistance and have higher guard counts etc. during missions or while trying to escape out of the East. You would need root out the rat in your resistance cell to remove these penalties. This would give the player a feeling of being a spy and always keep you on your toes. Going along with the spy theme, it would lend to a multitude of cool assassin/spy themed gadgets. There were people who actually used grappling bows to zipline across the rooftops between the wall. Like a real life grappling hook from AC syndicate. Along with that you could grab Intel from hidden cameras or audio devices, change into guard suits and so on. You could make people's stats reflect on different gadgets and abilities. Similar to Legion as well. For example, obviously an old woman would have a hard time parkouring and can't impersonate a guard, but will have an easier time slipping past guards without getting caught because she's less of a suspicious target. imagine how fun a game like this would be to play co-op with a friend. You choose one recruited assassin and they could choose another and use your personal abilities to pull off different missions. If you ever played the AC unity co-op missions or splinter cell co-op missions you kind of get how the game would play out in co-op. Maybe just more of in an open world setting. Crossing the wall could be done in many ways. You could sneak across rooftops in true AC style, impersonate guards, drive a car through a checkpoint, sneak through the metro tunnels avoiding trains, etc. All would depend on the time of day and maybe even weather. When looking into the story, there is plenty of historical events to carry the game as well. Many missions could be based around real life escapes, you could sneak through the KGB headquarters, climb up onto high points to make sure that broadcasts from the West can get over, meet with FBI agents, MI-6 agents and maybe even a turncoat Stasi operative. If you learn of the history of the cold war and spies during the time, a majority of it revolves around Berlin. In my opinion, the best way an Assassin's Creed game would make sense in a more modern setting would be in a game based on spy tactics. I know it probably won't ever happen, but I just wanted to share my thoughts with other fans of Assassin's Creed series. I just thought the setting is perfect for a game. I also think Ubi has the ability now to really pull off a game like this by utilizing other titles they've done or are making currently. They finally have co-op down since far cry 5, they have Legion to draw from and they have lots of fans who miss the old games and want a more stealth oriented game again. Yet the setting and gameplay could still appease those players who prefer more bombastic and crazy gameplay since you build up your own spy cell and can recruit people who are more akin to your preferred playstyle. Thanks to anyone who actually took the time to read this far! Edit: changed the word stazi to the correct spelling of Stasi. Also added spacing now I know how. Thanks for the input and sorry to anyone having a hard time reading this. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 08:01 PM PDT I'm replaying Odyssey and this time I poked around Layla's computer and realized I had no idea what half of the text was referencing. So I googled one of the names and found this awesome recap that somebody posted a year ago. The redditors name was deleted so I can't credit them unfortunately. But I know that many of us are a bit confused on the modern day stuff so I thought I'd share: In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, you control a research analyst at Abstergo exploring the memories of Desmond's ancestor Edward Kenway, after Abstergo took Desmond's DNA once he died. We find out that Juno's husband Aita has his consciousness reoccurring in the male gene line, called Sages, and in the modern day a Sage tried to use us to resurrect Juno but he is killed by Abstergo. Abstergo use his high First Civilization genes to start the Phoenix Project, an attempt at recreating their genome. The comic Brahman takes place around this time too and explores an Indian descendant of the Assassin Arbaaz Mir being embroiled in a race against Abstergo to locate the Koh-I-Noor, another Piece of Eden. Focuses on Otso Berg and the Assassin Jasdip Dhami, whose sister is killed in the conflict. Then we have the Initiates online series which takes us to early 2014, where the Assassins, led by Gavin Banks now after William gave him leadership following Desmond's death, discover a group called the Initiates have infiltrated their base of operations on the Altaïr II ship. The Initiates become allies and merge with the Assassins, led by a woman named Bishop. Along the way, the crew of the Altaïr II ship rescue the Russian Assassin Galina Voronina, after her mother and sister went mad when Juno tried to take over their minds to get a physical body. In late 2014, the Templars upload Shay Cormac's memories as propaganda to the Haephestus Network to intimidate the Assassins. A month on, using the new Helix VR technology, Bishop and Shaun contact a player and recruit them to investigate Arno Dorian's memories because Arno met a Sage. Fortunately, the Sage's bones are too degraded for Abstergo to use in the Phoenix Project, so we end there. Then, in September 2015 in the Assassins comic line, Galina and another Assassin Xavier recruit Charlotte de la Cruz into the Brotherhood. Eventually we find out Charlotte's grandmother was the one who founded Erudito, the organisation who left the shady emails and messages in the Desmond games. Erudito tell the Assassins that Juno has her cult, known as the Instruments, wormed deep inside Abstergo and the Phoenix Project and will hijack it to recreate a body for Juno, so Erudito mobilise into cells like the Assassins, and an Erudito member My'shell joins the Brotherhood too. In October 2015, the Assassins and Bishop recruit the Helix player back to relive Jacob and Evie Frye's memories to see where a Shroud of Eden was located, before Abstergo find it for the Phoenix Project. The Templars send Sigma Team to retrieve it first successfully, and a Templar named Violet da Costa (who appears in Rogue and Syndicate) reveals herself as an Instrument and a follower of Juno in secret. We also find out Desmond had an illegitimate son who is also a Sage that Abstergo and the Instruments now have. In the Templars comics, in early 2016, Violet tries to sabotage her partner Otso Berg's attempt at using Andre Bolden's ancestor's memories to locate the Koh I Noor again, and on the Instruments' orders tries to have Andre killed. In Heresy, the novel, which takes place in October 2016, the Templar Simon Hathaway relives the memories of his ancestor to find a Sword of Eden to prove himself to the Inner Sanctum. A few weeks later, in the AC Movie, under the authority of Alan Rikkin's daughter Sofia Rikkin, Abstergo fake criminal Callum Lynch's death so they can find an Apple that his ancestor Aguilar hid from everyone in the past. The facility is destroyed and Callum joins the Brotherhood. Two months later in December, Callum and his cell track Alan Rikkin to London and assassinate him. Finally, the comic Uprising takes place in early 2017, and the Instruments start making big moves to retrieve the Koh-I-Noor to resurrect Juno, so the Assassins and Templars form an alliance to stop Juno, with an Assassin cell consisting of Charlotte de la Cruz, My'shell, Otso Berg, Galina Voronina, Kiyoshi Takakura (who appeared in the Initiates online series) and Arend Schut. The Instruments, consisting of many people such as former Erudito member Guernica (last seen in the Assassins comic line), Jasdip Dhami (who defected after his sister's death and the fallout from the Initiates using innocent people to sequence memories and put themselves in the crossfire), Violet da Costa, and Desmond's son named Elijah. Otso Berg kills Violet, while Elijah has a change of heart and helps Charlotte kill Juno. Berg blows the facility up though, causing Charlotte's death, while Elijah escapes with the Koh-I-Noor. In the most recent game, Origins, it's a soft reboot focusing on Layla Hassan, a disobedient but somewhat naive Abstergo employee who gets sent to Egypt to retrieve Bayek's mummy and relive his memories. She keeps this from Abstergo because she wants to do it her own way and impress Sofia Rikkin, who she knew and who she fell out with not too long before. Abstergo mark Layla as a possible defector, and send Sigma Team to kill her partner Deanna Geary (who was first mentioned in the Initiates online series), as well as Layla herself, but she is rescued by William Miles, who asks her to join the Assassins, leading into Odyssey's Modern Day next week. Frederico auditorie could've been an assassin? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 10:37 AM PDT I was wondering if Federico auditorie (ezio's brother) was training to be an assassin before all that happened in the AC ll. I know this is an old game but I started reading a book about it so I was curious because of his climbing and combat skills. Oh and because he is the first born. Thanks in advance for the help! Assassims Creed Unity Most Efficient Weapon Posted: 23 Sep 2019 11:01 PM PDT What would be the most efficient weapon if you take the abilities out of consideration, for example the blinding effect of the eagle of suger. Would it be One-handed, Long, or Heavy? [link] [comments]
Finding historical locations in AC3 Posted: 23 Sep 2019 07:08 PM PDT I just recently came back from a trip to Boston where I saw all kinds of historical revolutionary war locations. Stuff like the Old State House, Paul Revere's house, Bunker Hill, etc. When I got back yesterday I decided to reinstall AC3 in order to compare the same buildings in the game to my pictures. My problem is that the map system in that game is terrible and I can't find where any of the locations are, nothing is marked. Does anybody know if it is possible to easily mark historical locations in AC3 or if there are any good guides to historical locations in AC3 that point out on the map where to find them? Thanks. Posted: 23 Sep 2019 09:25 PM PDT Gameplay-wise I loved Odyssey (or at least really liked it, I put 160 hours into it), but the story was ... let's just call it problematic. I will give them effort points for at least including more modern-day content than Origins even if most of it was locked in the last DLC pack. AC should have never had story choices. Maybe for sidequests, ok, but for main quest stuff it needs to GTFO. It really bugged me that I could follow all the relevant story choices from the novelization, but then still get a non-canonical ending (i.e., in the book, you promise to save Deimos but kill him anyways, and your mom forgives you; however, if you do this in the game your mom runs away). Ashraf seems to get AC more than Dumont and Côté. I understand he is probably going to keep the RPG game play elements, but what are the odds he (rightfully) does away with story choices? [Minor AC Odyssey Spoilers]Are AC Odyssey side quests and their choices linked to 100% completion? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 11:11 PM PDT I'm an hour into my second playthrough of Odyssey because 7 hours into my first playthrough I realized that I'd "failed" the Blood Fever quest by accepting it and then leaving Kephallonia without completing it(it just vanished from quest log without any notification) and being a bit of a completionist I didn't like that. However after reading a bunch of online articles and blogs I'm not sure if these side quests count towards overall completion, i.e., me restarting the game may have been a waste of time. Can anyone confirm if it's essential to complete all the side quests as well to get 100%(like the Merciful Gods quest which you only get by leaving the cave from the crack in the wall)? Also, do any choices matter for 100%(I chose not to take rewards for finding the spear and I chose to let the plague family die) or can I get 100% irrespective of side quest choices? I'm enjoying the game so far and I intend to do everything anyway but if side quests don't matter for 100% I won't bother much about their choices or failing them. [link] [comments]

Posted: 23 Sep 2019 09:52 AM PDT Hey all, Is there a way to totally opt out? I don't really like seeing the portals or even the map points. Honestly I prefer to not see anything player created at all in my games. No big deal really, just curious, thanks! [link] [comments]
What's the deal with the howls of the dead quest? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 10:19 PM PDT At first i hear the creepy laughs in the tomb(not a bit scary) then i try enter that specific room where you havr to kill someone but there is an invisible wall there through which i cant get into it, So i skip the quest and go for another quest, now here's the scary part, i m still hearing the creepy laughs throughout the whole map of sinai wherever i go? Unity — Struggling with stealth Posted: 23 Sep 2019 09:57 AM PDT I understand most of the mechanics in Unity, but I can't quite get the hang of stealth. Cherry bombs and berserk darts don't seem to work well as distractions. If you throw a cherry bomb, the guards look over but they don't move. If you start a fight with berserk darts and try to sneak past, one or two guards will usually break away from the fight to come after you. It's also hard to tell when someone will notice you near them. Cover assassinations seem to be completely undetectable unless someone is looking right at you. Air assassinations seem to be silent and easily visible. Walking and crouching seem to be silent but running is not. Phantom blades are very useful though. They're a great way to cause a distraction. I need some tips/advice, I keep getting into fights when I'm trying to be sneaky. I love the combat in Unity, but it's very easy to become badly outnumbered. I have an especially difficult time in the catacombs of Franciade, the swarms of raiders make it very difficult to be stealthy if you don't take out the leader quickly. [link] [comments]
Glyphs and Maps and the first Civ - predicting future settings Posted: 23 Sep 2019 05:14 AM PDT AC1 and 2 gave us a lot of information on where the series could go later on. We have 3 main sources. The map from the end of AC1, the Codex map from AC2, and the glyphs from AC2. Let's combing them all and see if we can find anything interesting. Courtesy of http://www.accesstheanimus.com (these people take my interest in the lore to a whole other level), we have the maps from AC1 and AC2 These maps feature the following places which I have outlined here. But while many of these indicate potential settings, a lot seem to be just for... flavour. When we match up the information from glyphs in AC2, we see that some settings are much more fleshed out than others. Australia: Uluru (AC1), Brisbane (AC2), Perth (AC2), the Ocean South of Australia (AC2) (Important Vault)
Peru: Macchu Picchu (AC1), Nazca Lines (AC2) (The Nazca Lines appear heavily throughout First Civ Symbolism)
Brazil: Rio De Janeiro (AC1), Amazon Delta (AC2)
Argentina: Northern Argentina (AC2) Chile: Tierra Del Guego (AC1), Easter Island (AC1), Juan Fernandez Islands (AC2) (This is an important vault) Colombia: Bogota (AC2) Ecuador: Galapagos Islands (AC1 and AC2) Mexico: Chichenitza (AC1), Revillagigedo Islands (AC2) Sri Lanka: Colombo (AC2) Indonesia: Lake Toba (AC2) (This could be a reference to the Toba Catastrophe), Lesser Sunda Islands (AC2) (Important Vault), Western Papua (AC2) Iraq: Ruins of Ur (AC2) United States: San Antonio (AC1), San Francisco (AC1 and AC2), New York (AC1 and AC2) (This grand temple has featured in AC3), Washington DC (AC1), Northern Alaska (AC2)
Canada: British Columbia (AC1 and AC2), Nunavut (AC2) Greenland: Nuuk (AC1) Croatia:
United Kingdom: London (AC1 and AC2) (We explore this setting in AC Syndicate and find the Shroud there), Scotland (AC1 and AC2), St Helena (AC2), Pitcairn Islands (AC2), Bermuda (AC2) (This place is referenced in AC Black Flag), South Georgia and Sandwich Islands (AC2)
Spain:
Romania: Bucharest (AC1) France: Tahiti (AC2)
Haiti:
South Africa (AC2) Greece:
Madagascar (AC2) Indian Ocean: Kerguelen Islands (AC2) (referenced by Eriduto in AC3) Andorra (AC1 and AC2) Ukraine: Kiev (AC1 and AC2)
Russia: Arkhangelsk Oblast (AC1 and AC2), Lake Baikal (AC1), Kamchatka Peninsula (AC2), Chukotka (AC2), Northern Siberia (AC2)
Iceland: Mt Snaegellsjokull (AC2) Norway: Lofoten/Tromso (AC2) (Important Vault)
Japan: Kyoto/Osaka (AC1 and AC2) China: Xi'an (AC1), Beijing (AC2)
Mongolia: Ulaan'Bataar (AC2) (Important vault), Altai Mountains (AC2) India: Agra (AC1 and AC2)
Iran: Persepolis (AC1 and AC2) (We never visit Iran but we do explore stories relating to Persia in Odyssey) Egypt: Cairo (AC1 and AC2) (We explored a number of vaults in Egypt in Origins)
Jerusalem (AC1 and AC2) (This may be a reference to the Arc of the Covenant, which we see at the start of AC1).
Spain: Canary Islands (AC1 and AC2) Mali: Timbuktu (AC1 and AC2) Senegal: Dakar (AC1) Morocco: Northern Morocco (AC1 and AC2) Tanzania: Mount Kilimanjaro (AC1 and AC2) Nigeria: Lagos (AC2) (Important Isu Vault) Long story short, we can see that during the making of the early games, the writers saw a number of possible directions for the series. Some of these have been explored in later instalments: The French Revolution, The American Revolution, The Spanish Inquisition. However others have not been touched.
We already know that a Viking game is on the way, so its clear that the hints from AC1 and AC2 can be used to figure out possible directions for the franchise. Some of these settings may be too controversial (India and The Levant), but Tudor England and the Spanish Conquest and the Russian Revolution look very possible. [link] [comments]
Do we have a canonical purpose behind the glowing glyphs on Isu temple walls? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 09:01 PM PDT I know they convey stories of some sort and work with the Isu sense of understanding patterns of the world, but... why do they glow? Are they power lines of some sort? Wires? Or do they glow just because power does that? [link] [comments]
How Odyssey Fits in Assassins Creed - Future of Assassin's Creed (Spoiler Warning) Posted: 23 Sep 2019 08:58 PM PDT Here's something you might find interesting. Game Director Scott Phillips said Go to 9:46 Interview with Game Director Scott Phillips Is the Cult A precursor to Templar's ? Yes they are - If you completed the main game at the end you get to talk with the Leader of the Cult, the Ghost. She Tells the player a great deal about Chaos and Order and how both are needed to balance out the other. Assassin's being Chaos because of their disruptive behavior, and Order, Templar's/Cult/Ancients they want basically a singular view and rule over the world. The hidden ending in the game Sheds even more light on this, actually showing you what the cult leads to - and how you the player caused or set forth in motion of what would become - "What we already seen in Previous AC games, the old ones." There's much to the story and defines this whole game as an origin story of the Templar's. Because You destroyed the cult, but cut the head off and 2 more grow. You didn't stop nothing, in fact you made it worse. Your desire for vengeance is what leads to the birth of many Factions like the Templar's etc. Think of it like BATMAN and the Joker See in the older games there wasn't this Chaos and Order "Idea" "Like they have to Co-Exist ". It was just : Templar's trying to have control and the Assassin's always showing up to foil the plans and take out as many Templar's as they could to protect the status quo/People Possible Future? Seems like that's where AC is headed - One studio like's Traditional AC mixed with Modern Mechanics and features and the Other is Telling story's in the AC universe but not directly tied to the core like Odyssey. Thoughts? [link] [comments]

Can I Recover Demosthenes’ Armor if I Sold It? Posted: 23 Sep 2019 05:38 PM PDT After every completed quest, you get part of Demosthenes' armor. Unfortunately, I didn't think it through and ended up selling parts of it earlier in the story. When I was watching one of the cutscenes though, I thought it looked pretty cool but am unable to find it in the customization area. Does anyone know if it's actually there or any close replicas?
