Why AC Origins is the best in the series, and one of the best games ever made

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:06 PM PDT

    Hello,

I'm playing AC Origins for the third time and never got bored like I was in replying Odyssey and Valhalla, here is why Origins is my best game in the series and one of the best games ever made:

1- It has the most unique setting ever presented in a video game, Ancient Egypt was one of the longest lasting civilizations in world history, and the most flourishing one, no other game has incarnated Ancient Egypt apart from Origins.

2- Combat is the most balanced in an AC game, not easy and not very hard (no spongy enemies like in Odyssey, and not as easy as in Valhalla), it has the best variety of weapons and enemies, (look at Odyssey by example, you can not carry shields!! really...? and in Valhalla you only have axes...it gets boring over time).

3-NPC and world feel alive, every NPC has a daily routine (working, eating, talking...ect), many NPC have different activities, in Odyssey and Valhalla they just wander around aimlessly.

4-The game is not bloated with copy-past content like in Odyssey and Valhalla, the map has just the right size (very big but not over-sized) with the right amount of content.

5-I prefer the Phylakes in Origins than the mercenaries in Odyssey, in the last they were very repetitive in their combat style, but in Origins each Phylake has a unique combat style with overall good variety between them.

6- Curse of the Pharaoh dlc is the most ambitious dlc in an AC game, especially after the arrival of the disappointing "Wrath of the Druids" dlc feeling empty in content and too small.

7- The targets (order of the ancient) system is more balanced than in Odyssey and Valhalla, in Origins each target has a storyline, while in the other two games, you just kill targets in the world with no story behind it, just one hit assassination of a dude and that's it all.

    Thanks for reading

(Spoilers) The Hidden Ones letter in Valhalla

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 07:53 PM PDT

So what strikes me most about Bayek's letter to Aya is that it totally makes sense in retrospect. Bayek explaining the importance of staying hidden while Aya was basically doing speaking tours seems a bit scoldy until you realize that the Assassins know nothing about Bayek. It's Aya (or Amunet) who has the statue in Montereggionj. Bayek stayed hidden, even from the Hidden Ones.

I hope the next AC doubles down on settlement building.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:36 PM PDT

I have been thinking about the scene in valhalla where you sit in the throne and settle a dispute between your camp members. It reminded me a lot of dragon age where you get to make choices like who to spare or kill, who to help, etc, from your throne room. with rumors of the next game being in the 100 years war I think it would be awesome to see the settlement system return as you running a castle and being able to make choices for your people.

It's really sad to see how stealth still isn't fixed or even adressed as an actual problem

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 12:29 AM PDT

As a fan that played this game since the first one, it really makes me worry for the future of the franchise. It's pretty obvious Ubisoft wants us to play this game purely combat style.

Social stealth is broken, hoods don't work.

While sneaking, guards insta-detect you 200 meters away, they sometimes spot you throught the walls, etc.

The Act Dead skill is just stupid, seems like Ubisoft wanted to joke with us like, "Bro you still care about stealth, cmon".

EDIT: for those that say stealth works fine for them. Cool. I am literally getting spotted through walls though.

You know what all the historical games are missing as a part of the world building: spinning thread! Spinning thread was an enormous part of daily life before the industrial revolution!

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 05:53 PM PDT

I mean spinning thread that would then be used to make clothes. Every household would do it, both men and women and children, and people would hang out and spin thread together. Back in Egypt part of the taxes you had to pay was thread! So yes, it would be a fun idle animation to have people in the cities everywhere just sitting around at their spinning wheels!

I learned about all this thread stuff from this podcast episode where the author is talking about her book: The Fabric of Civilization.

Idea for feature in new AC game

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 10:56 PM PDT

I had an idea to add a theater / replay edit mode where you could play back a short moment of gameplay and edit the clip from different angles, make cuts, edit filters, zoom perspectives etc. My idea would be compared to Skater XLs or Skate 3s replay editor. It would be really fun to make your own AC trailer this way, or parkour / kill montage. It might be tough to do this will do many moving systems but I'm thinking maybe with the new systems it might be a possibility. Any thoughts?

Why haven’t we gotten a Sleipnir mount in Valhalla yet?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 08:33 PM PDT

Pretty much the title. I know I can't be the only one asking for this but I feel like it's been so long since release to still not have one out yet is kind of crazy to me.

Hidden Ones DLC could've been expanded into an entire game/sequel

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 07:52 PM PDT

So the other day I mentioned enjoying AC Origins alot more than I remember and it being very respectful to the old AC games while introducing the RPG elements. The Hidden Ones DLC continued this trend and was very assassin-focused, gave you way more experience per mission than the base game, and even introduced the tenets of the creed. However its biggest flaw was that it was extremely short. It easily could've been expanded upon to be a full game, especially if Amunet/Aya could've been playable, and if Ancient Rome was included.

Assassin's Creed : Eternal Blue Sky

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:21 PM PDT

Assassin's Creed : Eternal Blue Sky

I feel the next series in Assassin's Creed should dive east into the very hearts of the Land of the Eternal Blue Sky during the times of Chinggis Kagan. It must show a bit of history of the Xiongnu Empire - Battle with Han China - formation of different tribal states and communities across Siberia, Central Asia and Mongolia - Chinese rule or history over Mongolia as prelude.

Mongolia - Land of Eternal Blue Sky

Fight for Tribal freedom and independence under Chinggis Khan could be the entire game with all intricacies involving Mongolian life, culture , horse breeding, selective assassination targets in Qing Dynasty regions and ancient China. Freeing Mongolian prisoners, forming war bands, settling tribal communities at different locations, resource management for people, development of Mongolian mounted militia and training mounted units for combat.

    Mongol Army under Chinggis Khagan

I personally feel this will be a good project for Ubisoft to explore the East before delving into Japanese or Korean Empires where Assassination, politics, intrigue and deep strategy could be made the new mechanics for a perfectly blended true Assassin's Creed Game - a return to the roots ? 'Cause till now seriously none of the characters or gameplay style has been adapted to the job of Shaun or Rebecca from the predecessor series ? Don't plans come before execution ? What do you say ?

[Top 5] Assassin's Creed Valhalla Best Spears and How To Get Them

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 12:39 PM PDT

One thing that really annoyed me while I played the game was the lack of spears. There's only five in the main game. So, I wrote an article about it and this is how I ranked my top 5 spears. What spears did you guys play with? If any at all.

Can we stop with the comics?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 05:39 PM PDT

Like, I haven't met anyone who've read the comics to follow the lore. I've met/interacted with more people who were like, "WTF?! They ended that plot" or "they introduced that character in the comics?"

As really, who buys the novels or the comics? Assassins Creed isn't Star Wars or the MCU.

It kills any motivation to buy the next game because I don't want to invest hours to only find out it got resolved in some mediocre comic....

Across all games, which location has been visited the most?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 05:19 PM PDT

Throughout the whole AC series, I'm trying to work out which places you visit the most at different periods in time. Including modern day segments as well.

For example you visit London in AC:Syndicate and then again in a different time in AC:Valhalla.

You also spend time in both Rome and Monteriggioni as Ezio then again in the modern day as Desmund.

Is there anywhere else you visit more than once at different points in time?

[Origins] I just started playing AC Origins. I'm level 7 and I've received the Trials Quests. Can I level up fast enough to complete them?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 05:31 AM PDT

The Trial of Sekhmet and Trial of Sobek are suggested at L40 and L43, it shows a time limit of five days to complete them. Will I be fast enough to level up to attempt and complete them?

Edit: Answered in the comments, thank you everybody!

Ubisoft I will pay you $9.99 per Assassin's Creed game for Full Dualsense 5 Feature Set Support

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:40 PM PDT

You can package the idea however you'd like but I am more than willing to pay for a full dualsense experience. Some will say it should be there from the beginning. I just want it at all. The dualsense support today is just okay on the game. Haptics and controller audio are underutilized. And you could update all of your past titles and I'd pay you?

AC Unity Remastered $49.99 4K 60 FPS 1080P 120 FPS Instant load times Ray-Tracing Bug fixing and multiplayer improvements including new missions. New storylines as other protagonists featured previously throughout Unity.

    Full dualsense support update $9.99

AC Valhalla Example: Full dualsense support update $9.99

Or you could be nice and just put it in.

How improved are the newer Assassin's Creed games on PS5 and Xbox series X?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 03:12 PM PDT

I already own all three of the new Assassin's Creed games on the base Xbox one and loved all 3. I've been kinda wanting to replay them recently and saw that they're on sale on the playstation store. My question is, are Origins and Odyssey improved at all and how much is Valhalla improved? I've looked online but most people compare the PS4 pro to the PS5 version instead of the base PS4 or Xbox one. So for those of you who have the games on a next gen console does it make much difference? I want to make sure if I replay them it'll be the best experience possible.

Are the Assassin's Creed games (especially first three or four) playable on keyboard?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 09:12 AM PDT

Title, basically. A friend told me the AC games were basically unplayable on keyboard, and were made with controllers in mind. Is a controller honestly necessary?

    Thanks!

floor spikes in ac odyssey tombs real or not

    Posted: 30 Jun 2021 10:53 PM PDT

I've been seeing a lot of floor spikes traps that pop up when you step on them in tombs, and I've been wondering, is that's a real thing that can be seen in ancient tombs? Or just something the developers created?

Will AC Unity feature other assassins in the later sequences?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 04:32 AM PDT

I'm only 10 hours into the game at Sequence 5, and I was just wondering if there will be other assassins that will fight with us during the height of the revolution?

I rewatched the cinematic trailer, which is my favorite trailer of all time, and I'm kinda confused. Based on this trailer, I assumed Arno would meet other master assassins who would fight alongside him during the campaign, but now I'm thinking this was just a PR stunt to increase hype for the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Honestly, while the multiplayer aspect was an innovative and fun idea, I was hoping there would be missions where I wasn't a lone assassin. Will the later sequences feature a more prominent brotherhood or will it be more of the same lone wolf assassin gameplay? Not hating on the game, I still love it, especially the parkour and setting. But just wondering about how the story progresses. I'm fine with some spoilers too.

I hate that you can't restart a quest in AC Origins.

    Posted: 01 Jul 2021 07:52 AM PDT

So I've been playing some AC Origins lately and I really hate that you cannot restart a quest from the beginning. It turns immersion at times.

Like when I killed Rufio - the guards were overwhelming me, so I closed the game in hopes that maybe then it will restart the quest. But no, now he is dead, but Bayek magically teleported away from the trouble he caused. Argh
