Assassin's Creed Odyssey is an amazing game, if you forget the first two words.

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:58 PM PDT

When I first bought this game, i only bought it because the gold edition with AC3 was on sale for 20$. I thought I would only play AC3 and just have this game on my library. After disappointment and nostalgia not holding up I did not finish AC3. I then began to download the new game. I knew after playing Origins it was extremely different from old games. I went into thinking it was going to suck and wasn't an assassins creed game. I was half right. This certainly was not an Assassins Creed game. Odyssey is a master class game in it's own unique way. If it was strictly called Odyssey this game would be loved by the fans in my opinion. I've spent almost 100 hours playing this game and I still have finished either DLCs. I love this game.

Assassin recruit system should make a comeback.

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:16 AM PDT

One of the biggest takeaways for me regarding the Assassin's Creed video game franchise would have to be the recruit mechanics. I loved having the option to call in reinforcements when you were caught in a bind.

A break from Valhalla did me good.

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 10:22 PM PDT

So I noticed a lot lately that Valhalla seems to get some flak. People upset about how long of a game it is, or how the stealth is difficult and such. I really enjoyed the game at launch until I hit 120 hours in and still a ton left to do. I played off and on and only did a little bit of the different events and updates. And then I stopped.

I took a break from the game completely for a few months and didn't touch it. Decided to give it a go and see what river raids are all about, and I gotta say that it all feels so good again!

Sailing my longship towards a sunset, fighting off a bunch of dudes protecting treasure, applying cool tattoos to make Eivor a real badass. It's marvelous.

If you ever get tired of a game, there's no shame in giving it a break. Valhalla is honestly really fun.

AC Unity: Why does Arno even care about being kicked out from the Brotherhood?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 05:17 AM PDT

    Hi

I'm about to finish AC Unity, 55h in, only one sequence left, but what bothers me is how unbelievable was Arno's breakdown after being kicked out from the Brotherhood.
Not so long before this he wasn't even interested in joining Assassins, he got convinced due to their capabilities and resources that might help him fulfilling his revenge.
He quickly picked a track himself and started chaising Germain on his own, his personal vendetta was a prior to him all along, he didn't need the Brotherhood anymore and he had no personal bounds within the members of the Brotherhood since the Mirabeau and Bellec deaths.

Arno's bussiness and contacts were still going on, the only thing they took from him was an ability to stepping down to a sewers from time to time and constatnly being scolded.
I wonder what am I missing here. If someone with better knowledge and understanding could point out the reason of Arno's reaction I would be very happy :D

    I am really enjoying Rogue

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:20 AM PDT

So I've played AC 1, 2 and 3 when they came out but I kinda forgot about the franchise until 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic when Black Flag, Origins, and Odyssey were on sale on the PlayStation store. So I bought all three (for like, 30 bucks, too).

I absolutely loved Black Flag, and when I got to Origins I was surprised by the change of gameplay but still really enjoyed it. Months later moved on to Odyssey, which I also loved, and after buying a switch lite I bought the Rebel collection where I am now playing Rogue. Very reminiscent of black flag but with its own energy.

This post has no purpose but to just say I love this series.

[SPOILERS] Potential Settings for Every Known PoE and Vault

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 09:00 AM PDT

Today I want to point out potential settings for every known PoE and Vault based on location alone. Some settings may be reused, just due to proximity. I also want to give a huge shout-out to Access the Animus for compiling this map, which I added the numbers to, to help track each location more easily. Please be aware that these are approximate locations for most settings, and some are mildly different from what Access the Animus speculated. Also, these are just known Isu sites and PoE. PoE can always travel and new sites can be created for different regions and countries if Ubi desires.

Map of every known PoE and vault Location

    1. Wales, Alaska, USA - Alaska was purchased by the US from Russia in 1867 and it experienced a gold rush in 1890. This would probably be the best time for it.
    2. Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, USA- Alaska was purchased by the US from Russia in 1867 and it experienced a gold rush in 1890. This would probably be the best time for it.
    3. Ukkusiksalik National Park, Nunavut, Canada - The War of 1812 saw the US move into Canada to attack Montreal and move on Quebec. Allowing players to go a little farther north to the temple would probably be the best time.
    4. Bella Coola, British Columbia, Canada - Vancouver began growing as a major city and trade hub around 1900, with important unionist strikes occurring and famous Anti-Asian Riots in 1907. While politically touchy in the current climate, this era would probably be best to explore British Columbia.
    5. Yosemite National park, California, USA - America's westward expansion and a western-focused game is a classic ask from fans. This could easily include Yosemite or even as far west as San Francisco if they wanted.
    6. Turin, New York, USA - The Grand Temple - Seen in AC3 and Valhalla, we really don't need to come back, but maybe would be a cameo about Shay's Rebellion or the War of 1812
    7. Salisbury, Maryland, USA - The War of 1812, again.
    8. Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - War of 1812 or Civil War
    9. Houston, Texas, USA - The Mexican American War or Texas Revolution would be ideal for this location
    10. Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico - The Mexican American War or Texas Revolution would be ideal for this location
    11. Chichén-Itzá, Yucatán, Mexico - First shown in Liberation, it's clear from Ac4's ruins as well that the Maya had some sort of understanding of the Isu and Sages. Exploring this location and idea in a Pre-Columbian era with the Maya at their height around 500-900ce would be great.
    12. Long Bay, Jamaica - The Observatory - Having been covered in Ac4, it doesn't feel necessary to go back, but maybe a setting in Jamaica during any of the Maroon Wars in the 18th and 19th centuries would work best.
    13. Port-au-Prince, Haiti - Mentioned in Rogue and a setting in 4's DLC, it seems unnecessary to return, but Haiti's Black Republic in 1804 which was turned into the Haitian Empire, only for its leaders to be violently assassinated seems like an interesting premise.
    14. Bermuda - During the War of 1812, the British gathered around the island to launch attacks on the Chesapeake. In 1816, they reinforced the island, led by Benedict Arnold's son. Seems like potential for DLC, especially since by 1816 there were already reports of missing ships and strange lights from the Bermuda Triangle.
    15. Bogota, Colombia - Simon Bolivar's fight for independence and a unified South America would be great for this location.
    16. Galapagos Islands, Ecuador - This would probably work best as a DLC for a game about the Conquest of the Incas.
    17. Revillagigedo Islands, Mexico - This would probably be best as a DLC for the Spanish Conquest of the new world, as there's no evidence of human habitation prior to the island's discovery in 1533.
    18. Pitcairn Islands or French Polynesia - Would probably be best in a game about Polynesian Kingdoms and islands.
    19. Easter Island, Chile - Maybe a DLC or part of the main game of the Polynesian Explorers. Alternatively, a potential DLC for an Incan game, as some Incans had contact with Polynesians.
    20. Pacific Ocean - Polynesian Game? Maybe some sort of DLC about Nazis looking for hidden artifacts in U-boats near South America?
    21. Archipielago Juan Fernandez, Chile - Chilean Independence, Constitutional Organization, and conservative Republic
    22. Cusco, Peru - Conquest of the Incas
    23. Nazca, Peru - Conquest of the Incas
    24. Cordoba, Cordoba, Argentina - Argentine Civil Wars
    25. Sarmiento, Chubut, Argentina - Argentine Civil Wars
    26. Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - The United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarves or the Brazilian Empire
    27. Santarem, Para, Brazil - The United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and the Algarves or the Brazilian Empire
    28. St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha - This is where Napoleon died. A game about the Napoleonic Wars would be pretty great, and featuring him trying to escape St Helena only to be assassinated would be a good end for him.
    29. Upington, South Africa - During the Scramble for Africa, this town was established to help maintain British rule in the Cape Colony.
    30. Rutenga, Masvingo, Zimbabwe - This is just outside the former Zululand, and was marched through during the Zulu Wars during the Scramble for Africa.
    31. Antananarivo, Madagascar - The Merina Kingdom of Madagascar
    32. Nairobi, Kenya - This is potentially the site of Eden. During the Ethiopian Adal war, Muslim sultanates in modern-day Kenya supported the Somali Sultanates, and the Portuguese allied with the Ethiopians against the Kenyan and Somali sultanates, notably attacking Mombasa and Mogadishu.
    33. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia - Ethiopian-Adal War.
    34. Mount Cameroon National Park, Cameroon - The Scramble for Africa
    35. Bamako, Mali - Mansa Musa's Mali Empire
    36. Timbuktu, Tombouctou, Mali - Mansa Musa's Mali Empire
    37. Dakar, Senegal - Mansa Musa's Mali Empire
    38. Richat Structure, Mauritania - Mansa Musa's Mali Empire
    39. Canary Islands, Canarias, Spain - These could be solid DLC for a game set at the end of the Reconquista
    40. Fes, Morocco - Berber Revolts
    41. Atbara, Sudan - Atbara isn't far from the borders of Medieval Ethiopia, and the port city of Suakin to the east of this city was besieged by the Portuguese for being part of the Adal Sultanate during the Ethiopian-Adal War.
    42. Cairo, Egypt - Fatimid Caliphate and rise of the modern Assassins.
    43. Jerusalem, Israel - Despite having been covered in AC1, revisiting this during the First Jewish-Roman War would be amazing.
    44. Athens, Αθήνα, Greece - Having seen Athens in its prime, I wouldn't mind seeing it as a small city built up over a temple during the Minoan or Mycenaean periods.
    45. Rome, Lazio, Italy - Ancient Rome has so many good settings. Assassination of Caligula, Nero's Insanity, or maybe as late as the Gothic Wars.
    46. Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain - It may be unexpected, but The Spanish Inquisition is perfect for Spain
    47. Lisbon, Portugal - Caliphate of Cordoba, or maybe later in the Reconquista could be pretty unique.
    48. Paris, Île-de-France, France - Having witnessed Paris in Unity and soon Valhalla, Black Plague Paris is by far the next best setting.
    49. London, England, United Kingdom - Tudor London under Elizabeth I would be a far superior version of what we saw in Syndicate or Valhalla.
    50. Edinburgh or Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom - First Scottish War of Independence.
    51. Reykjavik, Capital Region, Iceland - Iceland's bloodiest wars, the Age of the Sturlungs.
    52. Qasigiannguit, Christianshaab, Greenland - Honestly, this would be best as a DLC for Valhalla or Iceland.
    53. Narvik, Nordland, Norway - While Valhalla made this seem closer to Trondheim, the maps in AC2 made it appear much farther north. Based on developer comments, though, this is undoubtedly the same vault. If we were to revisit, it'd probably be best during the Great Northern War.
    54. Lake Svetloyar, Russia - The legendary site of Kitezh could easily be explored during a Mongol game, though I could also see a game about Ivan the Terrible featuring it.
    55. Moscow, Москва, Russia - Ivan the Terrible, Peter the Great, Catherine the Great. All iconic, but not as iconic as Napoleon's Invasion; though many still want a 3D game during the Russian Revolution.
    56. Kyiv, Київ, Ukraine - Vladimir the Great's reign of Kievan Rus.
    57. Bucharest, București, Romania - Ottoman Invasions of South-Eastern Europe. We could even see a bit later when Buda was actually besieged during the 16th century.
    58. Baku, Bakı, Azerbaijan - Georgian Golden Age
    59. Basrah, Iraq - Anarchy at Samarra, a Persian civil war in modern Iraq and perfect Basim prequel
    60. Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province, Iran - Alexander's conquest of Persia.
    61. Kabul, Kabul, Afghanistan - Mughal Empire of India
    62. Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India - Indian Rebellion of 1857
    63. Colombo, Sri Lanka - This would be a good DLC for a British Raj game.
    64. Altay Prefecture, Xinjiang, China - This is a relatively small prefecture in North-Western China between Mongolia, Russia, and Kazakhstan. A Mongolian Game or central Asian Horde game could easily cover this.
    65. Krasnoyarsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia - This town was used as an important base during the Russian Civil War
    66. Taymylyr, Sakha Republic, Russia - Near the town of Tiksi, these were Siberian towns that saw significant experimentation during the Cold War. Maybe we could see a DLC there?
    67. Chita, Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia - Members of the Decembrist revolt in 1825 were sent here as punishment. It briefly declared independence in 1905, and the last Emperor of China was briefly imprisoned here in 1945.
    68. Anadyr, Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, Russia - Peter the Great sent an expedition here in 1725. Maybe a DLC for a game featuring him?
    69. Mil'Kovo, Kamchatka Krai, Russia - This is a small town that had an iron factory open in 1752 and close 20 years later. It's first road was to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky which was important during the Crimean War in the 1880s.
    70. Osaka, Osaka Prefecture, Japan - Sengoku Jidai
    71. Okinawa, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan - DLC for a game in China or Japan, could be used to reference Himiko and the island of Yamatai.
    72. Beijing, China - The Ming Dynasty is one of the more interesting periods for Beijing with the Palace plot of Renyin year and Wanggongchang Explosion
    73. Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia - Yuan Dynasty and Mongolian Empire
    74. Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, Mongolia - Yuan Dynasty and Mongolian Empire
    75. Xi'an, Shaanxi, China - Qin Dynasty
    76. Ho Chi Minh City, Đông Nam Bộ, Vietnam - Conquered by the Khmer Empire
    77. Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia - The Majapahit Empire
    78. Trowulan, Mojokerto, East Java, Indonesia - The Majapahit Empire
    79. Sorebi, Mamberamo Raya Regency, Papua, Indonesia - The Majapahit Empire
    80. Brisbane, Queensland, Australia - Australian Gold Rush would be our best bet.
    81. Uluru, Northern Territory, Australia - Australian Gold Rush
    82. Karroun Hill Nature Reserve, Western Australia, Australia - Australian Gold Rush
    83. Southeast Indian Ocean - There is literally nothing there. Maybe Some sort of Naval DLC for an Australian game?
    84. Île Amsterdam - Maybe this island's discovery in 1522? It wasn't settled until 1789 and had a number of shipwrecks near it. Maybe some sort of DLC?
    85. Kerguelen Islands - In 1892 France reinforced this chain and Ile Amsterdam due to German activity. I could see it as a DLC, as it's got a great topographical map that reminds me of the Skellige Isles from Witcher 3.
    86. South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands - Most notably around 1930 Argentina claimed sovereignty over these islands. Though these are close to the Falklands which Manuel de Rosas attempted to keep the Islands from Britain in the 1830s.

[SPOILER] AC Valhalla general consensus 8 months later?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 06:40 PM PDT

Now that Valhalla launched 8 months ago (Idk how it was that long ago already) I'm just wondering everyone's overall opinion is on the game now that we've all had alot of time to sit on it and reflect.

England may not be the best setting for ac, but it's undeniable the map is gorgeous. The soundtrack is also great. I've found myself playing it in the background on spotify many times. I also think Magnus Brunn's performance as male Eivor is fantastic.

I think the game does a decent job with RPG elements. I appreciate things like the loot system and how every piece is unique rather than picking up dozens of the same item with minor stat differences ike in Odyssey and Origins. I also appreciate how the game tries to bring back some classic ac elements like instant assassinations. I know stealth is very split for the game but for me, it generally worked and I never really ran into the issues I've seen other people describe.

I think the story is overall not great, but not bad by any means. I do wish the game just forced us the player, to go through the territories in a specific order rather than letting us choose. Choosing which region to go to next can easily mess up the pace of the story. I.e Sigurd getting kidnapped and us not being able to go after him until a couple side arcs later which equates to many hours of us doing stuff that doesn't feel urgent.

I also think the ending of the game was exciting back when I first played it, but looking back now, I can admit it's a little underwhelming. So Basim turns out to be a reincarnation of Loki (who keeps Lokis conscious and memories) and Eivor turns out to be a reincarnation of Odin (who doesn't keep Odins conscious and memories) and so basically we end up with a pissed off Basim (Loki) trying to kill Eivor (Odin) who has no idea why Basim is trying to kill him because Eivor does not possess Odins memories the same way Basim does for unexplained reasons (at least to my knowledge). So idk looking back, that part of the story is kinda meh for me but I'm honestly just curious what others think.

Overall, I know the length is easily the most criticized, but I think if you take it slow and complete it over however long, it's a fun and enjoyable ride. Just my thoughts

There should be an Assassin's Creed where we play as a Samurai or Ronin in Mexico.

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:07 AM PDT

    Apparently that was a thing.

Honestly there's lots of cool time periods out there but I'd like to see AC start to tackle the stranger parts of history a little bit.

We need a sequel to Origins set in Rome and the Levant

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 02:54 PM PDT

This time flip the script. Have Amunet be the main character and show how the Assassins moved from Rome to the Middleast. They could take a page out of Rockstar's book and add the Origins and Oddysey maps back in addition to ancient Rome and a new version of the Levant. It could tie up so many loose ends and bring the old series back by showing why Masyaf was important enough that they stopped being the "hidden ones" and started using the castle. It could even show Roman expansion into England leading to Alfred's rise.

It would be an epically large world and could likely be a solid series finale.

[AC2] Anyone know if there’s proper recordings of the Songs performed by Bards?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 08:26 PM PDT

I see a lot of hate for them and rightfully so because they do like to stand directly in front of you, but playing through again recently I've grown fond of the short songs they sing about ezio, and have found myself just standing with them for ages multiple times. Is there anyway I can get my hands on the actual recordings or a video containing all the songs?

Without spoiling I was wondering should I start exploring right away or should I follow the story a bit? If you need to tell me when to start exploring please be very vague about it. I just saved my crew and went straight to Fornburg. Should I just continue the story to a certain point or can I start exploring?

Is there a way to turn off level scaling in AC Origins?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:35 PM PDT

Hi all! So I am reaching out becacuse I am trying to make my way through AC Origins but it is really nightmare for me. I have ADHD so story games are really difficult for me to get through, especially ones that require me to be at certain levels to continue with the actual story. I was curious if AC Origins allows enemy levels to always be at your level or within at least two levels of you? Also can you do this in Valhalla and Odyssey too?

    Thanks for any help!

Somewhat of a nitpick in origins?

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 08:12 AM PDT

So I went back to origins today and I was doing some stealth in a base and I realized how barebones the animations are, I feel like the game has 3 Assassination animations.

This is disappointing specially when compared to unity where each position had 4-5 animations from running to idle to double to air Assassinations.

Valhalla tried to fix it but the animations just came off kinda slow and the stealth is broken so there's no point there.

    Sprinting in black flag PS4

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 04:33 PM PDT

Just gonna say, I love this game, one of my favourite games of all time, masterpiece. Playing it on PlayStation for the first time when I originally played it on Xbox and the sprinting is infuriating and ruining it for me. When I turn my controller on I can sprint at full speed for a minute or two then it stops working. Literally need to turn the controller off then back on again to be able to run at full speed. I've had so many issues with PlayStation controllers in general and I had virtually none with the Xbox controllers. It's a shame cause I like the PS4 and lots of areas I prefer to the Xbox. I've went through several controllers and the one I'm using now is only a few months old. Does anyone on PS4 not experience this problem? Cause I just can't believe how ridiculous it is

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - Ancient Roman Post-Apocalyptic Game? (Opinion + Historical Analysis Video)

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 04:16 AM PDT

Valhalla, Great and most disappointing. Long Post

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:26 AM PDT

Hello Creed fans and designers and what not…

I love the Assassins Creed series, and always have! I have played them all and completed 3/4s of the games that has been made. Any I didn't complete was only because it's particular story or culture/layout wasn't interesting for me and I would get a little bored.. Anywho, graphics, diversity, collectibles, side missions, gear, and stories have always been awesome from game one even, especially for the timeframe of its release.

My most recent favorite is the Assassins Creed Origins, I absolutely loved everything about it. I still play it through when no new good story games are released for a while. Completed Origins 3 times so far in the past few years.

Now, I am making this post just to provide some feedback and share a major disappointment for me.

Assassins Creed Valhalla has all the right details and creativity in it to take Origins place as my current favorite. I completed Valhalla once and I am more than half way through my second round with the game. I love the story, the culture, the creative gear, mounts, ravens, and side missions; I love the graphics and the art of the scenery. Unfortunately, Valhalla is the biggest disappointment even compared to the few that just didn't interest me personally.

I don't know what is going on or why the game seems to be left with no love or maintenance, besides some awesome expansions, but Valhalla has been released for almost a year now and it's technical problems seem to have only gotten worse.

Out of all the Assassin's Creed games, Valhalla has by far the worst glitches and problems. First playing it, there were some small slightly irritating glitches happening but that didn't bother me. All video games are bound to have a few kinks here and there especially first being released.

Here's my real problem and what is going to cause me to set Assassins Creed aside for a good while.

It is over 8 months later since I first started Valhalla and I have to stop playing because I'm getting irritated by horrible game malfunctioning and mission glitches! The malfunctions and game glitches are so much worse now. There's nothing more frustrating than putting in time towards completing a mission or goal just for the icons to continue or to COMPLETE the mission just won't appear… like the designated quest details are telling to keep trying to do or reach something you're already at and that icon that's glitched out for no reason is the icon to complete an hour or two worth of playing towards.

That is only one example, running around the open world and suddenly be stuck in the sky while the sky seems to be dancing to trap music is another example of many other problems. The only way to get out of that glitch is to reload your most recent auto save. Reloading auto save doesn't sound too hard or game hindering does it? Unless you're like me and have a personal goal to get all the hunting request parts or fish for the settlement. Black bears only appear in one very specific area, and spending 45 minutes waiting for a black bear to show up just for two black bear furs (you need 12 total btw) plus two hours spent collecting other fish and animal parts that are needed to turn in to your settlement, getting stuck in the sky suddenly and having to reload your auto save; that doesn't always auto save when it supposed to————- ———— That has happened to me twice in the last month and it is downright infuriating! I can't play the game in one sitting, whether it's 30 minutes or 6 hours without something suddenly and randomly going wrong or freaking out… there are many other problems and examples I've suffered but I think those examples make my point, so I won't describe any more.

The game is amazing. And an amazing game shouldn't just be left and it's kinks ignored. That's a waste of a great game.

Lastly, the expansions for Valhalla have all been super fun and I love what they add but they adopt the overall games problems too. Instead of making another awesome expansion, maybe using that time and money to fix the bugs, kinks, and problems on the overall game would bring the value back into Valhalla and all the expansions already made. Otherwise the game and it's expansions are not worth playing at all anymore.

I just really hope the time not going into fixing Valhalla is going into the next Assassins Creed game to come out and it's getting all the love so it'll better than all games before it. It'd be super disappointing and discouraging if it's not and Valhalla hasn't even been fixed.

Sorry to be so harsh but I just had to express my ongoing frustration.

    Thank you for reading.

Eivor should look older for the Seige of Paris DLC

    Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:46 AM PDT

The timeline of Valhalla is never really made clear, however the siege of Paris under the reign of King Charles the fat (which Valhalla is featuring) takes place 7 years after the events of the final main story arc. It felt like many years had passed to the run up to the final main arc, so it makes no sense for Eivor to look like he/she is in their 20's when they are now in their 40's. This is the same for all the other Characters at Ravensthorpe but I doubt ubi will address this I believe they should update the character model for Eivor. They could even make it optional.

    What does everyone else think?
