    My opinion about AC 2017-2021

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 03:38 AM PDT

Well, many people hate the last trilogy of AC (Origins, Odyssey,Valhalla) but ubi is trying to show us the history of The First Civilization and the history of the hidden ones who became the Assassin brotherhood. Something that most people say is the lack of parkour but if you think about it, we traveled to 9th century, what do they want to see there are not many buildings, however in some cities the game is supposed to be played like the old ac games like jumping from rooftops and assassinating templars while not being spotted and this is happening because they know what we want in the game but they can't do whatever they imagine because they must be historically accurate. Something else is that some say why assassinate that guy nobody knows him... Again, you have to find clues about who the grand templar is and that makes the game more interesting. This is my opinion about this trilogy and whatever happens I'll continue to support the franchise.

Given up on full sync on AC: Brotherhood

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 05:30 AM PDT

I'm playing all AC games from AC1 - Syndicate (Already played Valhalla, Odyssey and Origins). When I started AC Brotherhood, I loved the idea of partial sync as it guided the missions in a certain direction to act more like an actual assassin.

But after a while it's become tedious and incredibly frustrating, to the point where it was making me sorta sick of playing. Stuff like completing a Lair of Romulus in 3 god damn minutes, ridiculous.

    Has anyone completed it 100%?

[Spoilers] I love this series, so I tallied up naming every single named character death in the AC franchise

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 02:58 PM PDT

First, a little background. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to stats in my favorite series and I've always wanted to know which characters were the deadliest. I would compile long lists of every explicit death and try to tally up the kills per character. I'd already done this for the Walking Dead comic series and the Redwall books by the time I'd gotten to Assassin's Creed, but so far it has been my greatest challenge.

To clarify, this is not just every onscreen character death in the mainline Assassin's Creed franchise. This is every single named character in any Assassin's Creed property (video game, book, film, weird mobile game that basically doesn't exist anymore, comic, etc.) that has been mentioned as being dead, whether through murder, disease, or by their own hand.

I've been debating whether or not to share this on here for a long time. I've put a lot of work into this and I hope that this community will be the most accepting of the data that I've collected.

Please know that this is a living document. If I've forgotten to add a character death, please add it in the comments below so that I can keep it up to date.

The last 3 Assassin's Creed games have struggled with providing meaningful ancillary opportunities for players

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 03:02 PM PDT

In Red Dead 2, hunting and fishing are so well done that you can occupy yourself in nature for a long time.

In Breath of the Wild, they don't tell you anything on the map, and every part of the map is designed to pique your curiosity and make you explore.

In Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and now Valhalla however, the large areas struggle to keep the player properly engaged, at least for me. The game encourages and wants you to explore its size, but it can't come up with reasons to do so. The absurd animal A.I. makes hunting corny and uninteresting. Fishing is something you do for alters and collection quests that don't offer enough rewards to do it in the first place.

I like looking at and taking in the new places I explore since it's so stunning, and finding new moves or a new set of armor is cool, but it's not enough.

They tried in Valhalla with the new "stranger" quests that you can find all over the place, but they aren't THAT fun to where it supports exploration for over dozens of hours.

The worlds just don't have enough substantive systems to support the exploration part of the game, and since the developers are hellbent on gigantic worlds, they shoot themselves in the foot, as this massive size also creates more exploration time.

Started playing Syndicate and it’s my least favorite game so far

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 03:22 PM PDT

For starters, the game feels so bleh. It just feels very cookie cutter. The dialogue is meh, the story is extremely generic. Evie is cool but I wish it was just her. I like their banter but Jacob is honestly just annoying and I hate how his missions are just like beat em ups and the whole rooks/gang thing is stupid.

London is nice. Wish it felt more grimy. Was expecting more rain and smog from Victorian England.

I've heard people on here say that Syndicate is just Unity lite but damn. The movement and parkour are so sluggish. It feels like I'm moving a tank. I couldn't play more than an hour.

The combat is responsive but also arcadey.

The control in unity really grew on me. Arno felt like air while running or doing parkour.

The modern day is terrible and forgettable too. Why did they have to do Shaun and Rebecca like that.

Watched a video of AC III early development and the material shown included Connor with this outfit. Why did we never get this in the end?

What historical situation could Templars and Assassin's (in any form) potentially put aside their differences and work together?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 10:48 AM PDT

I know a bit cliche these days but what situations can you think of where "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" would apply to the Templars/Assassin's throughout history?

Always liked the idea of a game set during around 1st crusade where protecting the innocent/pilgrims would be a shared objective of the 2 factions - meaning the relationship wouldn't have to be hostile by default.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood- Area not available

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 10:33 PM PDT

Can someone help me figure out why I can't go into certain areas yet? I have a marker on my map for a "memory start" and it's in an area with Borgia influence and I can't go to it because it says the area isn't available yet. I don't have any more main missions to do, I did the restored memories where I recover the paintings and save Leonardo. What else am I supposed to do? This also isn't the only Borgia controlled area I can't have access to. It's all the areas surrounding Roma. Please help!

My First AC game was "Valhalla", now I'm playing,"Odyssey". And I'm so confused

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 09:57 PM PDT

Don't get me wrong it's still an awesome game but I think Valhalla spoiled me. I can see where it took what this game did wrong and made right. Only thing is, I still like it. It's just so much more clunky? Like as far as quests go. Also the character's story isn't as interesting, at least not this far. Eivor had an unmaleable personality. This game so far feels fun but I just feel like the character/characters lack that... Also just ...I'm not even in easy mode but I'm kicking ass? I still like it haha. True AC fans, what's a good ac game? Not saying this is bad, just curious.

What do you think is going to be the next historical setting in AC?

    Posted: 11 Apr 2021 12:10 AM PDT

Would like an American civil war one but because of the St. George armor I am thinking that they are planning on a crusaders setting. An assumption that I feel 100% is gonna happen.

How Social stealth could be integrated and evolved in the future AC titles

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 10:31 AM PDT

Before going into what social stealth could become, I think it is important to acknowledge what Social stealth used to be. It was a fun system, but it wasn't without its flaws.

Problems with the old versions of Social Stealth
    > Blending with the hood doesn't always make sense
    > Worked in AC1 because of the monks
    > Worked in Unity due to the sheer scale of the crowd.
    > Only kinda works In Valhalla, When the controls and AI don't stop working on their own
    > Connor AC3, Edward's Robes are some of the worst in social Stealth.

Now as to How Social Stealth can evolve, I think there are 4 things that can be done to make them better and integrate them into the RPG style

    1) The Hitman/Legion Disguise System integrated with a system like liberation

Hitman has had a brilliant disguise system, Especially in the recent games. It's a cool way to do social stealth but there are also NPC's who detect you if you get to closer because even though you might be disguised as a Guard, They will recognize you.

Ubisoft themselves did something similar with WD Legion with the Uniformed access thing.

Now if a system like that were to be integrated with the disguise system we saw in liberation, That could be a really good way to evolve the way social stealth works.

    2) Use of Gear in Social stealth

Since The transition of AC into the RPG era, The gear is always more geared towards combat and even the gear that is geared towards stealth doesn't really do much. It doesn't for example reduce things like detection range or detection speed and such.

But Unity did. Bulky gear won't be good for stealth as guards will be able to see and hear you from a distance. Lighter Armour has better effect in stealth.

Now as for How gear would effect social stealth, Lets take Odyssey as an ExampleLet's Say you are wearing a spartan armour set. You would be able to walk into the Spartan camp. Because for the normal guards, You just look like a spartan soldier. But an Elite guard might be more suspicious of you, Now the same won't work in an Athenian camp because obviously the Athenians would immediately want to remove you from the premises or even kill you on sight.

    3) Use of Dialogue as a gameplay mechanic in Social Stealth

Speechcraft is an important part of an RPG. It could be an alternative to the stabbing action. Provided that interactions are written properly and are not overly repetitive, A system like that would benefit the games immensely.

Say in the previous example one of the elite guard spots you and ask you to stop. Now you can run away to initiate combat or simply kill him quickly and go hide and do the more traditional stabby stuff. Or you could have a conversation with the elite guard and try and convince him that you are infact a guard. Whether or not you will succeed will depend on how good your speech skill is.

    4) The use of skills and abilities in Social Stealth

I believe having a skyrim esque skill tree with special branches for speech and Social stealth would be a nice thing. You want to play as a Warrior who kills 50 people alone in a camp? Go for it.You want to make your way by talking your way out of situations? You can do that as well.It would add some much needed level of depth and choice that none of the three AC RPGs actually have.

Having more ways to play might actually make the games a lot more enjoyable. And having things like Social stealth would return AC its Identity and set it apart from the rest.

Of course if you still want to play the games how they are now, You still have the option. But having more options is always better.

Anyway, If you guys have any more suggestions add them in the replies.

Also I did a video about this and I went more in depth in that one, In case you want to see it

Game basis idea: Assassin's Creed: Noir

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 01:09 PM PDT

What if the next Assassin's Creed game was set in New York or Chicago in the 1920s, as sort of a gangster thing. I'm thinking something similar to Syndicate, but to where you can both solve mysteries, and make a gang, maybe even with two rival gangs. What do you guys think?

Please give an ac game in Rome

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 04:48 PM PDT

Can we please, for the love of god, just get an assassins creed in Ancient Rome that's more than just an ending. You could literally make it the biggest game of all of them and cover the many different assassinations of the emperors throughout the empires history. Or you could go Pre-empire with the Punic wars. Or at the height of the empire and cover most of Europe and parts of the Middle East it would be a huge project but if done right, it would be a masterpiece.

    Who is "T"? (Valhalla spoilers)

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 10:26 PM PDT

In Asgard there is a letter from "T" to Loki in which the writer threatens to have Loki killed should he fail to make good on his promise to bring some of Idunn's apples to Jotunheim. Is "T" supposed to be Tinia (Jupiter/Suttungr)? I can't think of who else it could be.

I climbed every sync point in Syndicate before getting the rope launcher

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 07:13 AM PDT

This is something I wanted to try for awhile. While the scale of the world is definitely based around using the rope launcher it's perfectly doable navigating everywhere without it. I just had to be careful in some of the more high level boroughs, as getting ambushed by level 9 enemies when I was only at level 2 would be game over.

[Spoilers] AC Valhalla needs a Director's Cut

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 08:29 AM PDT

Edit: Repost because of missing spoiler tag.

Coming from Borderlands 3, though i haven't played it for a while, i think the game needs a DC badly or the video game equivalent thereof. I don't want to go into the story complaints too deep, mostly because everything has been more or less said about it, but i think that disconnecting the main storyline from completing each region in the game is something the Devs should look into.

As it stands now you have to complete every region bar one to get to the ending of the game even though some of them have no connection to the plot surrounding Sigurd. This in turn leads, in my opinion, to bad pacing.

Now, some days ago i stumbled upon a list of story missions that details their pay-off, even though i sadly cannot find it right now. The main impression was that, apart from some regions they don't really tie in to the overall narrative between you and your brother. Some instead tie in to the Order narrative, others into the overall ending with characters in the final fight against Aelfred in Hamtunscire. Others don't have a connection to either.

Now: my suggestion would be to split these into four distinctive main narratives that bounce off on each other.

    1) Main story with Sigurd.

    2) Order story (mostly the cities, Lunden etc.).

    3) "Liberating" the regions with characters that tie into the final fight with Aelfred in Hamtunscire.

    4) Rest of the regions with no connection to either.

I don't know how feasable this suggestion is, so i'm interested in your opinions. What do you say?

Cockades not showing up on the map. Is it supposed to be this way?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 07:49 PM PDT

The Xbox version of AC Unity always showed all cockades on the map from the very beginning of the game. The first thing i do is collect 100 cockades before progressing thru the beginning of the game to get black. I always liked seeing him in a black robe throughout the story.

Now playing the ps4 version, and they only show up when i get near them. They dont show up on the map at all.

Is the jackdaw really a brig?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 02:40 PM PDT

It's larger than the other brigs in the game.

The foremast is taller than the mainmast (brigs don't have that)

The jackdaw has side sails, which I've never seen a brig have, especially in that shape, anyone know what it is anyway?
