Different controls for every AC games is infuriating (Platform: PC)

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 06:17 AM PDT

I'm new to AC franchise and Valhalla is my first. It took some learning curve and I finally mastered the controls. Then I moved on to Origins and f'ck me I have to learn from scratch. I even tried Syndicate and Odyssey and each have different mechanics. I want to explore this franchise but it's frustrating if I have to learn all these different mechanics for each games. (Sorry this post is more of ranting I just had to get it out)

PSA: Breakfall not only auto-breaks your jumps, but also unlocks a higher tier of "breakfall" if you still do it manually by pressing X/A when hitting the ground.

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 12:26 AM PDT

I haven't actually seen people talk about this and im currently about 40 hours into the game. Since all breakfall does is give you the pretty dumb looking half-sideroll animation by default instead of taking full fall damage, you can actually still manually break the fall and do a much cleaner forward roll more akin to older AC games, it simply still requires manual input. It's really weird that the game didn't mention this, but it feels like the AC games always suffer from a lack of ingame mechanics explanations. I'm not sure if doing this roll further mitigates fall damage, but it does keep the momentum far better (and looks better).

according to Jonathan, the rumored Richard of lionheart game was delayed, and an unconfirmed third DLC is being worked on by Ubisoft Sofia

link to the Twitter thread https://twitter.com/xj0nathan/status/1379383519227564032

    translation (used google)

Well, there is a change concerning the rest of the license #AssassinsCreed ! I teased you a little while ago an episode centered on Richard the Lionheart. This project exists, it has even been confirmed to me on several occasions by several sources. However...

At the time I got this info the game was only in preproduction, so development hadn't even started. In the meantime, you know there was the covid which shook up a lot of things at Ubi (Far Cry 6 and R6 Quarantine paid the price to name a few)

and so you can imagine that the team in charge of the next AC was not spared. The consequences are all the more "serious" when it comes to a very small team and that was precisely the case (you know very well which studio I'm talking about).

Another upheaval: the release of AC Valhalla and its very good sales which pushed Ubisoft to announce a post-launch follow-up longer than expected. Where only 2 DLC were expected, it seems that a third DLC is in the works ...

So according to my last info, it seems that the "Richard" project has been put on stand-by for the benefit of this third DLC (code name "Meteor") and that it would be developed by the same team.

I don't have more info for the moment, I'm waiting for feedback, but you can imagine that it will be an adventure with Eivor, so nothing to do with the initial project ... or it will be something else entirely, a stand-alone Far Cry New Dawn style ... I'll tell you that soon!

I wish actual tools could make a comeback

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 11:59 AM PDT

The games prior to the RPG trilogy had items such as throwing knives, bullets, poison, sleep and berserk darts, different types of bombs, etc. It allowed for a much higher variety of approaches when doing a mission, adapting to each scenario.

On the new trilogy, starting with Origins, we did have a few, such as sleep darts, poison darts and fire bombs, but the fact you had to go to the menu to change which ones you had equiped simply breaks the flow and doesn't allow quick reactions to specific situations. I wish we could have a weapon wheel or weapon axis (not sure it this is what the AC4 - Syndicate weapon selection is called), like we used too. Preferably the weapon wheel, since it's the quickest way to change from one item to the next.

In Odyssey and Valhalla they added the options to choose abilities that can be applied to specific slots on the hud, but it just doesn't do it for me. If it was simply based on abilities, such as special attacks with your weapon, that would be one thing, but having things like throwing axes, different arrows and rope darts being based on adrenaline points instead of being actual items in your inventory is just ridiculous in my opinion, apart from also being really immersion breaking.

"Oh, boy, I just ate this mushroom, so now I am able to throw six axes that I got out of nowhere at my enemies!"

Using the axes as an example, it would be much better to have them as individual items that I could actually aim and use as ranged weapons, instead of being restricted to chain kills or abilities.

Another thing that bothers me is that we are restricted to choosing only 4 skills (or 8 in Odyssey) to use in one "build". It doesn't make any sense for the character to have learned those skills from (in Valhalla's case) books of knowledge and being restricted into using just 4. Once again, it makes adapting to certain situations much harder, or at least, makes it more frustrating since you gotta go to the menu every time if you wanna change something.

Random thought I had that could be added to Valhalla

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 08:03 AM PDT

It would be cool if there added a chest to Eivor's room, a chest that you can hide unused weapons, armour and runes - it would made inventory management easier and gave you more reasons to visit her room (over 90 hours, I've been there twice).

I know its extremely random (but its my first ever reditt post) and that proper item management system would be better.

A way to give fans of old school Assassin's Creed what they want

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 07:15 AM PDT

Let's face it. Ubisoft are going to continue to make new AC games in the same format as Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. I'm not against it, I enjoy those games for what they are.

But I also really miss what Assassin's Creed used to be. I thought after Unity and Syndicate they where getting really close to perfecting the balance of true stealth, social stealth, parkour and combat.

Here's what I think would satisfy players like me that miss the old school experience: a true remake of Assassin's Creed 1. Not a HD update. Not a ramaster. A true ground up remake. I'm talking Resident Evil 3/Final Fantasy 7 style.

Use the same engine, graphics, stealth and combat from Unity. That game almost perfected the main pillars of the franchise. Retell Altair's story. Give him the climbing speed, agility and finesse of Arno. Make the crowds of Jerusalem, Damascus and Acre large and dynamic. Add social stealth elements to every NPC, not just monks, while also adding traditional stealth such as crouching and hiding in cover, assassinating from Hay bails, ledges and from around corners.

Let us customize Altair's weapons and robes as he progressively moves away from the influence of the corrupt Al Mualim and begins the foundation of his own brotherhood breaking free of the shackles of the old levant creed.

Want to really go crazy with it? Reintroduce coop, allowing us to play with other Assassins online who can assist with new side quests and storylines. Expand on breaking locks, interior environments, pickpocketing and eves dropping.

Essentially, give the ambition that Unity had another chance while simultaneously giving fans the remake of AC1 they crave.

I'm Trying to Figure Out What the Instrument in Assassin's Creed 4's "The British Empire" is

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 07:49 PM PDT

So, I absolutely adore the track The British Empire in Assassin's Creed 4's soundtrack. Though, one thing that's been gnawing at me for a while now is an instrument used in it that I love, but have no idea what the name is...

It's the piano-ish sounding instrument. It's used several times throughout, but as an example, it's the one that plays after the beautiful violin/viola section of the track.

I would love to use the instrument in the future for things, but I have no idea what the name is...

Altair game set against the Mongols

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 12:31 PM PDT

In AC Revelations when doing the third Masyaf Key Altair memory, Altair and Maria mention going to help face the mongols in the East but the rest of the order doesn't. I feel like it would be really cool to have a game explore this and bring back our beloved original Assassin with a newer game and graphics. It would be really cool to see Altair again and to have a game set with Mongolians in Asia. This could also explore Altair expanding the order to different countries like in Eastern Asia.

Edit: also they mention Malek's death as well as the death of his son, which I remember from the book, but it would be cool to explore more of this area of Altair's life and the transition of the order to Abbas while Altair goes to the East

Does anyone know, if Assassins Creed Identity is still getting special events like in 2018?

    Posted: 07 Apr 2021 01:15 AM PDT

I picked it up again after some time and the in-game "coming soon" is not very convincing.

As its for mobiles it might not be the focus of this sub, but i couldnt find any answers online so this seemed like the best idea.

Assassin's Creed 1 deserves a full fledged remake!

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 10:47 AM PDT

I loved Assassin's Creed when it first came out, but it really hasn't aged well. Assassin's Creed was a great game but it had countless flaws, Ubisoft learnt from their mistakes and improved upon the original when they released AC2. AC2 is a game I that I can replay endless times without getting bored. AC2 when it released instantly became a fan favorite, AC2 had a charismatic character with clear motivations unlike Altair from AC1 who was emotionless pretty much throughout the whole game, it had better missions unlike AC1's repetitive missions. The story was overall a hell lot better in AC2. But still, I think that no AC game that released after, had a better focus on the rivalry between the Assassin's and Templars, sure some of them had great stories but they were more focused about the protagonist and far less about the Brotherhood itself. I believe AC1 is far from perfect because it was a new IP for Ubisoft and they really didn't have a clear idea as to what exactly they wanted their game to be like. This is nothing new and it has happened with several video game franchises. For an example Yakuza 1 was a great game for its time, but Yakuza Kiwami made it 10 times better, the graphics were significantly better, the soundtracks were remastered and all of the voice actors returned for remake, it tied a lot of loose ends that the original game had and also has better character development than the original for sure. I would love a remake in which Altair has a better story and the conflict between Templars and Assassins is even more interesting. The game could show Altair's past before the start of AC1 and also add more content to the story via DLCs and Expansions, that would also bridge the gap between AC 1 and AC2. What do you guys think?

Looking for a complete list of songs used in AC Brotherhood, including reused/remixed tracks from AC 2

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 01:36 PM PDT

Hi everyone! I'm working on high quality Music and Ambience videos for YouTube depicting areas in AC Brotherhood, and in just re-finishing the game to set everything up for recording footage, I've realized that the AC Brotherhood "complete soundtrack" that you see on Ubisoft's YouTube, as well as on Amazon music is very far from a complete listing of the tracks used in the game. All kinds of songs from AC 2 are reused or morphed (examples being both Leonardo's Inventions versions, cuts and edits of Ezio's Family and Flight over Venice 1 and 2, etc.). Might anyone know where I could find this? Thanks!

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 06:04 PM PDT

so im at the part in assassins creed 3 when your in prison and have to kill hickey. at the stealth part where you sneak past the guards, you can hear several screams from the inmates. . i was listening to them when i noticed that one of the screams actually belongs to scp 096 who was a recurring monster in the indie horror game SCP Containment Breach. anyone else hear it because im not sure if im crazy or what. thanks.

[Valhalla] So I recently got AC Valhalla and I'm sorta confused as to how the armour and weapon looting system works.

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 05:59 AM PDT

Have they gotten rid of the ability to get armour from normal loot chests and bodies? At this stage I would be coming down with load of armour and weapons but I'm not finding any whatsoever. Thanks in advance

Hoping for more about the Celts in Valhalla :)

    Posted: 06 Apr 2021 12:20 PM PDT

I'm currently on my second playthrough of Valhalla and I absolutely love the game if I'm honest but during the first playthrough, I was really hoping there'd be more Celtic tribes in England. I'm from Wales and I've seen many red dragons throughout the game, including a replica of the one on the national flag, even have plenty of cosmetics in Ravensthorpe! I hope to see more of the Welsh/Scottish and Irish sometime soon :)
