The lack of hold-sprint in Valhalla bugs me so much. Posted: 15 Feb 2021 02:47 AM PST I just can't stand using sprint as a toggle click. Sprinting in parkour is important and it requires precision, the kind of precision I can only get while holding the button at the moment I need to sprint. Toggle ruins that precision for me, especially sincme I figured out some obstacles (like trees or hay) can untoggle the sprint while I'm doing parkour and often sabotage my parkour runs for collectibles. Just for the love of fucking Odin, Ubi literally every other movement and aiming option can be changed but with sprint you decided "nah, everyone will click to run now"...come on... Connor was THIRTEEN when he went to visit Achilles for the first time?! Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:56 PM PST After replaying AC III this past week, I was looking through some Wikipedia information for additional readings on the Colonial Brotherhood. It was here that Connor was mentioned to arrive at the Davenport Homestead for the first time in 1769, 6 years after the Brotherhood's collapse. After making note of this, I checked Connor's birth date to only find out that he was born in 1756, meaning he was 13 when he first started training as an assassin. Now, this makes sense lore wise, but by judging off of his voice and character model, Connor did NOT look 13 to me, maybe 16 at least lmao. Either way, are there other people just noticing this? Or am I just totally nuts at this point 😠[link] [comments]
The codex wall from AC2 is great Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:35 AM PST Last night I finished playing AC1 for the first time, and it made me really want to jump right into AC2. It was too late, tho, so I just went on a file I 100% completed and wandered around the villa for a while. Eventually I stumbled into the codex room and began going through the wall. Reading all the pages, I got a new appreciation for Altair's character and the world building. I also really liked the discussions of morality in AC1, and the codex wall continued that where AC2's story kinda dropped it. But yeah, just a really interesting bunch of information I wish I noticed earlier. [link] [comments]

Future of Valhalla and why I’m more hopeful then ever. (Spoilers for Valhalla) Posted: 15 Feb 2021 03:28 PM PST Future of Valhalla and why I'm more hopeful then before. Back in October when Ubisoft announced it's post launch plans for Valhalla I was excited for it. Now I'm even more excited due to the potential it has now. As we know Valhalla was a major success for the company in term of unit sales and Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will have a longer post launch support then Odyssey. This gives Ubisoft time to work on their new game while continuing support for Valhalla. It really looks like Ubisoft is serious about giving players the Viking fantasy. I don't like everything they've been doing post launch but I'm excited for the future. In the update tomorrow it says that new maps will be added. gamer said that 3 new maps will be added. I think that It could be Scotland, Wales or new parts of England. Not all of Wales and Scotland though like small parts. I really hope Ubisoft does this. Ireland comes out soon and It would be so cool to have the main areas of the British isles. But even after this update I wouldn't be surprised if Ubisoft eventually added more maps. Ubisoft can have multiple locations in one era. Here are some things I'd like to see.
Valhalla has the potential to be a globe game but I doubt it'll happen. Imagine though. England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Frankia, Norway, Vinland, Rus, Egypt and the Iberian peninsula. What else do you hope gets added in Valhalla's post launch? [link] [comments]

Are camels the best mounts for mounted combat in Origins? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:10 PM PST I know horses are faster that's pretty obvious, but I heard camels make you harder to knock off during combat (basically you can take more hits before getting knocked off your mount). Is there any truth to this? [link] [comments]

What are your thoughts about tomorrow's update? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 07:51 PM PST I am pretty excited because of the new content that it will bring and all the other life changing goodies. When Origins was released, it was in a similar state but after a while,it became my all time favorite AC game. However I still hope that that they will introduce new finishers in the future, because it got boring to watch the same regular finishers playing constantly. At this point, there's only two for all weapons and 4 for two handed weapons(when dual wielded and not dual wielded.) I do hope they will keep this type of combat system in future installations, because I enjoy it a lot. [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Feb 2021 10:51 PM PST Ok so, to preface this, about a year ago I swore that I would finish all the Assassins Creed games , except maybe the first one cuz it's pretty meh, and then play Valhalla. Anyways, I carved through Unity today and I loved it! I'm gonna list some pros and cons about the game, give it a rating, and hopefully get a chance to reminisce in the comments with you all. Pros: -I really like Arno as a character, idk he feels real to me. I especially enjoy the way he interprets the Creed, his speech at the end was fascinating. Plus seeing him react to Elise's death was heartbreakingly beautiful. -The setting was awesome, France is such a rich location with awesome characters during the era. -The Parkour is insane. Definitely one of, if not the best out of the franchise. It's just so fluid. Except for getting into windows, that's a pain in the ass. (It's my fault not the game's fault) -I really liked getting to see the inner workings of the Brotherhood, as well as more depth to the initiation and treatment of its members. -I really liked Arno having to fight his mentor after he killed Mirabeau, I thought that was awesome. Cons: -Elise is pretty dumb. There's no real reason to care about her, and it shows in the way she's written, which in my opinion is very lazily. -Targets can be forgettable. I get that you're not supposed to remember every single person, but some of the villains are stupidly forgettable. -The game has a very very basic plot. The interesting thing is that Origins did this same exact plot of getting revenge, but instead of a kid avenging their father, it's a father avenging his son, which makes the plot new and fresh. I feel like I've seen the revenge plot a billion times, but I can't complain too much, because it isn't done horribly here, just very mediocre. -I wish that there was a little bit more of Arno and Elise growing up together and seeing the love between them grow over the years, because the game tries to force you to care about this dumbass relationship without actually giving you a reason to care and see them end up together. —————————————————————— Anyways, I've given enough of my thoughts, but yeah I'd give it anywhere from a 7-7.5 out of 10, definitely worth a play through, but not amazing or anything. I'd definitely wait for a sale to buy it. Thanks for reading this long if you made it all the way down here, and enjoy your day/night! I'll be playing Rogue as my last one before I really dive into Valhalla so you can follow me if you want to see my take on it! [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Feb 2021 12:38 PM PST From the information provided about river raids it's looking fun and engaging hopefully replayable is actually true and keeps attention long enough. With new skills and gear looks like everyone gonna have to go hunting for more silver, iron, leather, tungsten and Titanium. Is this referring to the areas north above Northumbria, west of Hamtunscire, Glowecestrescire, Sciropescire and Snotinghamscire. Those areas to the side are still greyed out. My theory is if this pattern continues maybe in future river raids DLC, we unfog all of England that is unexplored. Here's the link if anyone hasn't seen it or doesn't know where to find it. https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/assassins-creed/valhalla/news-updates/3abYpgXMu1DKI3gc0MvJTK [link] [comments]
[SPOILERS] What Defines RPGs and should Assassin’s Creed be one? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 08:00 AM PST What is an RPG? The simplest answer is that it's a game that allows the player to role-play. The name is a hold-over from the 80s as gaming was evolving into the digital format and DND was replaced by Zelda, Pokemon, and Elder Scrolls Arena. To this end, almost every AAA game has you role-play nowadays. You are Master Chief, or a Pokemon Trainer, or Ezio, or Geralt, or the Dragonborn. Yet for some reason we call The Witcher and The Elder Scrolls a role-playing game, but not Halo or Assassin's Creed 2 which is an FPS or Action Adventure Sandbox respectively. So what is the modern definition of an RPG? For the sake of simplicity, I will only be discussing western RPGs, so JRPGs like Final Fantasy or Pokemon are a completely different topic. Many people focus on the aesthetic details to define an RPG, focusing on character customization, leveling up, stat boosts, perks, skill trees, dialogue options, and sometimes crafting as RPG elements. These are in reality just game elements. In Halo you have leveling and ranking systems, can customize your armor, COD has perks and stat boosts from leveling in its multiplayer. Even Watch Dogs had a skill tree to unlock all the enhancements for hacking. Yet none of these are considered to be an RPG. The emphasis on stats, skills, perks, and levels is not itself the defining RPG mechanic but rather acts as a gameplay medium by which to express it. Rather, the core feature that makes an RPG a role-playing game is choice. Levels and skills offer the player choice to customize their upgrade path, though this is shallow in games like Origins or Valhalla where it's expected or required to get every skill by max level, and leveling up is required to continue the main story. Narrative choice, however, is the purest manifestation. Do you side with the Stormcloaks or Empire? Do you aid the Scoi'atael or Flaming Rose? Do you kill or spare the Wolf of Sparta? Your choice can define how the game moves forward. Ultimately this is because the element of choice is inherently antithetical to the premise and core fantasy Assassin's Creed has delivered for over a decade. You are not playing as Ezio or Altair, or Bayek. You are Desmond or yourself, or Layla. Our avatar in the modern day is simply experiencing the events another person lived like a movie but with video game controls added so they can acclimate to the experience better. We cannot change the past. This is not a time machine. Changes you make from reality will desynchronize you. The point is that we are experiencing the hidden truth. But how can we experience the hidden truth when we can't even experience the canon story in the game of Odyssey, or when the canon decisions are unclear like Valhalla? What worked for Witcher, KOTOR, and Mass Effect clearly has not been working for Assassin's Creed. The identity of Assassin's Creed has certainly suffered over the years, and "RPG-Lite" elements like crafting leveling and skills are damaging, but nothing is as damaging as the choice system being shoe-horned into the games. Assassin's Creed's old formula did exist with leveling and skills, and Unity has become nearly deified on this sub despite having many of the same elements as Origins. While I will talk more about the damaging effects of these gameplay elements, narrative choice is fundamentally what has finished the genre transition from Action Adventure to RPG; and regardless of whether the games will ever return to their roots, the aspect of choice needs to be left in the dirt. Assassin Outfits in Different Games Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:08 AM PST Does anyone legitimately use other assassins' outfits when they're a skin in the game? For example Ezio's outfit on Edward Kenway in Black Flag or in syndicate you can wear Aveline's outfit on Evie. I can't personally because it breaks the immersion hard for me and just looks wildly out of place in some of the games. [link] [comments]
Should you complete Norway before you go to England? Posted: 16 Feb 2021 12:00 AM PST I like to take my time with these games and explore area by area as the game progress. Now I'm at the beginning before the trip to England. Is it a good idea to explore all the areas in Norway before you go to England? Or do you return to Norway from time to time? Press sprint button to go up ladders fast Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:29 PM PST It's probably just me but I just realized after 30 hours of playing that you don't hold X (on PS) to go up ladders fast but you press the sprint button. Here I was wondering why they removed that feature making it so climbing up walls is faster than using a ladder. [link] [comments]
Something I found in Black Flag Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:02 AM PST I don't know if it's already been talked a lot but in the first section of the game after to kill the Templar, you throw away the broken assassin blade. But if you go up to any animals in the game before you get your new one it does the animation for hidden blade stabbing the animal. [link] [comments]
Where is the atmospheric/nature/immersion audio in Valhalla? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:04 AM PST The atmospheric audio seems to be lacking. Could it be a bug? Compared to Odyssey I would hear the wind blowing, leaves rustling in the wind, and waves hitting the beach. Valhalla seems pretty stale in terms of immersion sounds. (Not to mention the mouths that don't move during cutscenes) I just started the game a week ago and honestly after three months I thought I would have a bugless experience. But besides me bitchin about the bugs and non moving mouths, is anybody else experiencing a lack of nature/immersion audio in the game? [link] [comments]
Why Did The Iltani Kill Alexander the Great? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 08:05 PM PST I don't know if he was secretly a Templar or if he was just too powerful, but why did she assassinate him? Granted, it did take place before the Brotherhood was officially established, but that just even raises more questions. [link] [comments]
what are some of your favorite weapon combos? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 09:48 AM PST i like using a hammer in the right hand and a dagger in the left and dual wielding spears. [link] [comments]
Why do the Fly Agarics make ZERO sense? Posted: 15 Feb 2021 07:20 PM PST I think these are cool and all but am I the only one that absolutely does not get how they are done? I've had to look up every single one besides the first one. It says to observe the clues but a lot of the time the clues make NO sense especially the torch ones. They have to be lit in a certain order apparently? Am I missing something, are the clues obvious? I can't be the only one right?.....right?....guys? [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Feb 2021 11:31 AM PST I'm really struggling with the final jumping puzzle at the end of the game. I just can't get round to the last switch. Can anyone offer any tips or tricks to making it please? Thank you [link] [comments]
Odyssey: HELP:OP builds, story order, max level Posted: 15 Feb 2021 06:21 PM PST As the title states I have questions about odyssey. Since odyssey is way too big a big and extremely time consuming game. I limit break/play and puns and 1-2 hours a day due to school/work. It would be great if I could get some assistance so I can starts Valhalla. Any help would be extremely helpful.
3.Story order: - Is this the right story order: Main story and side quests, then cultists then the dlcs?
