Do you think the franchise could regain that "Tin foil hat" mystique it used to have?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 10:15 PM PST

Ok, let me elaborate a bit: I have always been a huge conspiracy theory fan and when I first played AC back in 2007 (being a 15 years old boy) I was totally mind-blown. I think it was the most intrigued I have ever been with a videogame ever (That ending... wtf!)

The first assassins creed games really embraced all those conspiracy theories in existence and created a pseudohistoric universe that was really intriguing and amazing:

    1. The templar/Abstergo thing was good old evil corporation NWO/illuminati Style.
    2. The pieces of eden related to famous Mistery objects: The ark of the covenant, the holy grail, and so on.
    3. Even the main settings were not by chance: They wisely chose 3 of the most suceptible to conspiracies eras of humanity: The crusades and all that templar and catholic secrets about Jesus and religion. The Borgias Italy and the secrets of the vatican (The Davinci Code was at its peak of popularity by that time), and the Freemasons and their weird secrets during the American colonies era. (like that movie of Nicolas Cage)

I remember getting into AC 2 looking for answers and only getting more questions. I remember doing the puzzles and discovering that all the Historic figures were part of this secret reality. Pretty dense stuff and awesome Iluminatti vibes. They escalated the conspiracy, suddenly, every major thing was parto of this conspiracy (Tunguska, JFK, WW2.. and so on)

Then came the vault below the vatican and the appearance of Minerva. I have to admit that I was not a fan of that back in the day but it grew on me (I think it was too In-your-Face). It had a cool anunnaki/Ancient aliens vibe to it.

Then the misteries started to unravel and Odyssey kind of killed the mystique of the Isu (they put them in our faces and almost faded of the cloud behind them).

I enjoyed valhalla and they had some mysteries of their own but I would like the game to return to that Pseudohistory times were the was more mistery than "Who are the secret members of the order"

What do you think? Is it possible to return the "conspiracy theory magic" of the old games?. If so, how would it be? (I would say that going to a really mysterious historical setting like good old medieval western Europa or even Nazi Germany, given the Nazis where esotheric or Tzarist Russia with Rasputin and all that Romanov intrigue)

The Assassin's Creed games are simply becoming too long [Spoilers]

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 01:01 PM PST

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla especially feels like a slog mid-game. Currently in Gloucesterscire and have all but lost interest in the story and am simply trying to push through because of an obligation to end what I started. The games just take far too long to complete, and the problem is they feel artificially extended. Like, what was even the point of the Essexe storyline or the Gloucester storyline? And then on top of that you have the Asgard storyline.

There's nothing wrong with a game being 20-30 hrs long, like previous AC games were. The new series feel overly long, to the point where I find I lose interest around 60% of the way in. One thing the series is beginning to lack is a tight narrative and good story flow. Why am I blundering around England doing fetch quests while my brother is being tortured by a psycho? A long game can be good, but it needs to capture your attention. Odyssey had a slightly better story, but it also felt like it took forever. At some point I stopped caring about the side quests and just wanted the game to end.

AC2 was perfect when it came to length. Long enough that it felt satisfying, but not so long that I started to get bored. It also had a good, cohesive story line that was intriguing but never meandering. Brotherhood and Black Flag also had the same strengths.

I’m replaying ac 2 and have some questions

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 10:10 PM PST

So I just got to the sequence where he officially becomes an assassin I never really thought much of it but I was thinking what was he before that was he officially an assassin in training or was he regarded by the assassins as just a random dude even though he has assassin heritage would they have officially recruited him if he wasn't the prophet or just left him

    Spoiler Valhalla Modern day characters

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 04:40 PM PST

I just got to the first modern day section and I just want to say how amazing it feels to hear Rebecca, Shaun and even Desmond's voices again. It's like seeing old friends again after a long time. I haven't been this invested in the MD plot in a long time.

Is Origins the most brutal title yet?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 07:44 AM PST

I've been playing AC origins after Valhalla and I gotta be honest I think origins featured the most gore-y cutscenes, I'm aware Valhalla has some brutal combat, I think in terms of combat it's the most bloody, with limbs and heads getting chopped or AC3's brutal kills, but when it comes to story, specially the first act of origins, the tone and brutality are so much, I actually like it. That initial scene as Bayek drives the mask into rudjek, i was actually shocked, this is assassin's creed, we've seen some nasty shit as beheadings and hangings but none to this extent. The way Bayek bashes the Ibis' head with the apple also shocked me. Throughout the game many of the kills are just brutal, many times. I personally like this tone and brutality within cutscenes, it actually added to Bayek's personality and to what extents his rage can reach. Would y'all like such to return to the AC franchise? Such brutality and darker than usual tones?

I just realised that daily contracts are based on who you get them off and the location you're in

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 11:52 AM PST

    I feel so stupid.

Every day when the reset happens I always used to just go back to the "hub", my settlement. There I would speak to the usual in his tent, and I would get the same contracts including:

    - Kill wolves- Kill a... dummy- Rescue a person in a swamp

It bored me to death going to these locations.

Today, by chance, I just picked up 2 contracts in Hemthorpe because I forgot to go back to my settlement... and they were different!

I feel so late to the party on this. I always thought that the main guy at camp would have contracts throughout England, not just ones in the vicinity.

Imagine an Assassins Creed movie using the same graphics from the trailers

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 01:16 PM PST

I think if there is one thing every AC player can agree on is that trailers for AC games are always beyond amazing. I recently watched an hour long video of all the trailers from AC1 to AC:V and I have always thought that a movie using the same graphics style from the game trailers would be well received as long as the plot was on point.

Has anyone else ever though this?

I am about to buy the ezio collection. My only issue is how do I not freak out over the amount of collectibles and side content in the games?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 08:17 PM PST

I am so excited to play. But when it comes to open world games I tend to try and clear the map of every icon. It freaks me out seeing so much stuff on the map that I go off and try to collect all of it then I get burnt out and never finish the game. How do you guys deal with this type of thing or am I crazy?

I'm doing the alliance map in order of power level and I just finished east anglia, my question is do you do oxenforscire or linden first, since they both have the same power level I was curious.

Edit: I did not spell the places this way it was auto.

My problem with games after a specific time period.

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 08:22 AM PST

So y'all tell me if I'm wrong with this, but I don't see how any game set after 1890 could work. Guns were becoming far more common, and I see that as becoming a weird place for Assassin's Creed. Assassins almost always use close combat, and with guns, it takes away from that.

I know that probably sounds really stupid, but does anyone else have anything else on this?

What is the worst part of Odyssey

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 12:51 PM PST

I'm 36 hours in and loving it so far. I've tried to get to every ? And do every quest and I'm 30% main story progression. I don't see the problem with it so far but I'm curious on what other people hate/hated about it.

Haven’t played Valhalla yet but would love opinion from fans who loved Odyssey

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 02:51 PM PST

Please don't spoil story or mechanics for me, I would love to hear your thoughts on general things like quests/map/difficulty and things that wouldn't ruin someone's experience that will be going in blind into the game. I loved Odyssey even though it was kind of repetitive. The huge world and the feeling of adventuring a huge world was awesome to me. Heard bad things about the game but people really hated Odyssey even though I thought it was fun.

Fans that really loved Odyssey, what are your thoughts on the game? Thanks guys and remember no spoilers 💕

Newer games's character animations are embarrassing

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 03:48 PM PST

Let me start by clarifying that this post is not about the rpg direction the series is taking nor the story route its solely about how embarrassingly bad and floaty the newer AC character animations are. From Combat execution to running around to walking everything feels floaty and jittery, the protagonist can't even stand without starting to clipp for seconds. No physical interaction has any weight at all when I'm running it feels fake and barely no momentum, when I'm in combat the immersion is immediately broken by terrible animations which clip through each other and dead bodies showing ragdoll physics even after dying. It didn't help either that I'm playing Valhalla after finishing RDR2 which probably has the greatest physical animations In video game history. What make this even more annoying is the older game actually didn't lack these, pretty much all games up until Origins had solid weighty animations but now its just plain bad. For a series which sells so good its an embarrassing display on devs part these poor animations, even other Ubisoft games like For Honor, Division and Watch Dogs have way better physics based animations

I think the anoint of fur and leather characters wear is frankly ridiculous.

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 11:55 PM PST

To be clear I dont generally care about historical inaccuracies when it doesn't harm the overall theme and lessons learned from an era, In fact as someone who's seen a stave church i could legitimately care less if they weren't around by the time period because they are so cool I think its worth it to include them. But these people must have to kill like 10 dear a day to get this much fur on their neck. I could absolutely tolerate it if it was just hefty leather armor with maybe thin layers of fur, hell I could care less what they have the hidden ones wear as they're supposed to be alternate history. But when some Norwegian men are basically wearing fur as neck warmers and having it so engrossed in their "armor" that it genuinely looks like they're cosplaying their fursonea it reaches into self paradey mode.

I'm not asking that you put them in full chain mail and armor and remove all the dumb fun historical inaccuracies but have the basic respect for your time period to make your characters at least RESEMBLE their historical counter parts.

How should I approach the loot system in Valhalla?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 07:48 PM PST

How would you guys recommend me to approach the loot aspect in this game? Do i go to every wealth marker that appears to me on the radar (mini-map) even in mid quest? Same thing for the side missions. How should i balance between the main quest and travelling many meters for a simple side mission?

I just founded the first settlement in England and I'm not really sure how to play the game as efficiently as possible.

[Valhalla] Is it possible to use PS4 cloud saves on PC?

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 10:22 PM PST

AC Odyssey question stealing versus attracting mercenaries

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 08:28 AM PST

So I've noticed that stealing from chests gets you mercenary attention, even if you are unseen. But you often have to steal to complete the location requirements. So that puts you in a quandry over whether to steal and get the loot and complete the location requirements, or pass it by and not get the mercenary attention you know you will get. Which is it normally better to do?

How to check how many quests I've completed? AC Origins

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 11:23 AM PST

I want to make sure that I've completed all story missions in the game before I move on to Odyssey... I've scanned the map as carefully as I could and I didn't see any remaining side quest marks. Is there a way to view how many quests I've completed? I found on google that there are total of 127 in the base game so I'd like to see if I'm missing anything.

The completion % won't do because I didn't bother with all camps or treasure locations, I only care about story stuff
