There are several continuous quests that you will need to complete on your own in order to proceed with the story. They will be noted when given.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Mentor here, counting down the hours till Valhalla is within our reach! As the chronicler of Codex Temporis, I'm still always hunting for more answers or tidbits of lore to explore, as I'm sure many of you are, too. While I'm no "loremaster", nor do I claim to know EVERYTHING about the series, but after 2 years of research I think I can put my knowledge to the test: what are you still confused about? What burning unanswered question would you like me to speculate on? Ask me anything!

I was hesitant to play Assassin’s Creed Origins but once I started playing, I couldn’t stop

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:18 PM PST

Origins was a game I wasn't planning on playing mainly because it was too different from the previous games. But I went ahead and gave it a shot and I loved every minute of it. Bayek and Aya's story had me hooked from the beginning. Pretty much everything about this game I enjoyed from beginning to end and I'm glad I played it

[Spoiler] Starting Area in A.C Valhalla.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 12:34 PM PST

    Hi guys,

For those who watched the recent leak of the starting area gameplay we saw an area called

    " Rygjafylke " in Norway.

According to the ancient Norwegian Rygjafylke, nowadays corresponds to the whole of Rogaland county. And the village of Avaldsnes belong of the current district called Haugaland.

    I made a picture here :

    https://preview.redd.it/qpjw1xgv43x51.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=36ba4594b3332886ec3a6efbfc41cdaabc39d6bb

So guys what do you think.

Will the starting area be only in the whole Rogaland county or half of the Rogaland or the whole Vestlandet region or the whole Norway ?

    What do you think ?

    Regards,

I have really come around on Odyssey and am hype for Valhalla

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 07:03 AM PST

I am about 40 - 50 hours into Odyssey on a good gaming PC and an ultrawide monitor and it is just a beautiful and immersive, albeit ridiculous, adventure. I had tried to get into it a handful of times, not really going far in it, but I kept hearing a lot of people at work or online say how much they ended up enjoying Odyssey. When Odyssey came out, the primary critical feedback I heard was that it felt less "lived in" than Origins, but I found Origins to be pretty grim and overbearing right from the start (although I like Bayek and Aya) so I appreciate the more breezy adventure tone of Odyssey. The ending of Origins rubbed me the wrong way (it felt like they fastforwarded through a ton of story towards the end) but overall the gameplay change was refreshing to me.

There are a handful of things about Odyssey that are absolutely ridiculous but then slowly became part of the charm - your demigod powers and the emphasis on ISU artifacts is greater than in any other AC game. The bodycount you rack up can be insane. The assassination and combo animations are over the top. In Odyssey they really went all out on making you a mythological figure, but I was playing the game the wrong way at first which made me bounce off of it a couple of times. Once I got a good build (focus on assassin damage instead of spreading out my points) and some decent gear I was able to hold my own and really enjoy it. The problem with Odyssey for me is not that it is a different style of game from the rest of the series, but that the game doesn't teach you how to play in this new world while still feeling powerful. I feel super engrossed in completing this game now that I understand the emphasis on RPG-like builds and gear, and I am still finding interesting quests and decisions to make all over the world. I'm at max level now and have unlocked mastery levels and I feel like I have tons of world left to explore.

I am hype for Valhalla and a return of one hit assassinations, a new world to explore and settlement to build, and all the cool customization we have seen. But I am actually wondering if I will miss the mythological hero feeling Odyssey had... time will tell but I like to approach each AC game for what it is and give it a chance to win me over. I'm willing to give Valhalla a chance (hope PC performance is good) but some minor nitpicks stand out to me already - for instance, Eivor's assassination animations tend to give the guards some time to react/scream for help but the guards are always silent. I would appreciate animations that were more instantly lethal or at least tried to muffle/incapacitate the guards to stop the assassin fantasy from breaking.

How did you react to Odyssey? Did you instantly "get "it, did you bounce off of it or did it take some time to grow on you? Did you like it more or less than Origins?

Connor's deleted speech/monologue is incredible. Could have made the game so much more good.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 03:06 AM PST

Manty might know about this, but for those who don't, at the end of AC3, Connor reflects on his journey with an incredible speech/monologue. It is emotionally charged(from this huge man who showed next to zero emotion throughout the game), and the perfect way to end the story. It was however deleted from the game, I have no idea why. Made the game so much better for me. This is the link for those interested.

People weren’t that keen on Valhalla when it was announced but now they are hyped.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 12:07 PM PST

I really hate when people start hating on something even though they know nothing about it. There are so many such examples, Valhalla being one of them. As the title says people REALLY shat on Valhalla when it was announced and I can't understand why your first thought is a negative one instead of a positive one. It kinda makes me mad, there wasn't even a gameplay trailer and people were sure the game would flop and even if there was a gameplay trailer it still is a subject to change. I got tired of saying "at least wait till the game is released before stating your opinion". Some people even said that Ubisoft is stupid to release Valhalla at the same time as Cyberpunk, but lately I keep seeing people say they'll prioritize Valhalla instead of Cyberpunk which makes me happy. I wish that at least some people realize that to judge a book by its cover isn't smart at all. I have high hopes for this game and if after at least 50 hours I won't like only then will a do as a normal person would and make a long coherent post on Reddit saying how Valhalla is just worse copy of Odyssey :D

Hype for Valhalla continues . The more I listen to the soundtrack the more I love it .

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:27 AM PST

What drew you to the series? Instead of a critical post, I wanted to make one to celebrate the things that make Assassin's Creed a great series.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 10:38 PM PST

For me it was these things:

    1) Stealth: wearing a hood, blending, the Hidden Blade, hiding spots....

    2) History: historical events/characters, they're cool and all. But to visit these amazing places, to live as the people before lived, to see the community, to hear the sounds. Feels so good

    3) The Soundtrack: What is there to say? I can't even decide on a favourite

    4) Genetic memory / Animus concept: I was a fan of the science fiction. Being able to access the memories of your ancestors! Now that's cool

    5) Parkour!!

    6) A unique and enjoyable combat style (excluding the RPG titles ofc)

    5) The Isu: In the older games, there was an eerie air of mystery that maintained over the course of the game. The mind boggling "16" puzzles, the signs, the artefacts. It made you curious, that there's something beyond Assassins vs Templars. Whenever the Isu made an appearance in the games prior to AC Syndicate, it was brief and vague and left players with more questions than answers and so it kept the plot rolling. But after they did what they did with the Isu plot in the comics (don't wanna spoil), there doesn't seem to be any particular direction where the Isu plot is going. And the Isu content in the latest two entries has just been overkill

I think I went a little critical in that last one......

Arno never paid any visit to our "rogue" assassin!!!

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 12:22 AM PST

We all know that Arno's father was also an assassin and he was killed by none other than Shay Patrick Cormac. Arno brought justice for the the late De la Saire, but then why he didn't chase for his father's murderer??

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 11:46 AM PST

I really hope you can customise the HUD, I hate the damage point numbers popping up in combat and wondered if I'd be able to change this.

Does AC Valhalla offer save transfer when upgrading to next gen consoles

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 12:30 AM PST

Bc I already preordered the game for PS4, however if we don't keep the Progress from PS4 when upgrading our game to next gen there is no point in playing the game if you lose all your saves just a week after. Pls tell me that PS4 DOES have save transfer to PS5. I couldn't find an actual article on it.

Do you think Valhalla will be ok on current gen?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 09:37 AM PST

Hi there. I'm planning to get the new Xbox as soon as I can, but I am way too hyped for Valhalla to wait. I played Odyssey on my original Xbox One and it mostly ran fine, but probably didn't look nearly as good as if I'd had an Xbox One X.

I'm still stuck with my launch day Xbox One, so does anyone know if it will run fine on that? I know its supposed to work on both gens, but most people have upgraded at least from the original Xbox One by now. I'm just too stingey lol.

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 06:48 AM PST

Apparently, you cannot wield one-handed swords with Eivor. https://youtu.be/rXtVzJFlr20 (4.12)

I would be grateful to anyone who could enlighten me on this. Especially because most ennemies have a short sword (if you look at Eivor finishers)
