I think Bayek is the best character in the series.

I love this protagonist. He is very confident, he is not comic, but he can joke, he is shrewd and respected throughout Egypt. He is the last Medjay. I think he's the best in the series. Although I know that many people love Ezio. Is there anyone else who shares with me my point of view that Bayek is the coolest?

Assassin's Creed Valhalla - A Theory That Could Explain It All (Both Characters Being Canon, the "Let The Animus Choose" function, Mythological Sequences)

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 10:03 AM PDT

Assassin's Creed needs to take a page out of Hitman's book in regards to its sandbox nature and the vast creativity and freedom to complete tasks and assassinations. Hitman has a high replayability value compared to Assassin's Creed, assassination and gameplay wise.

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 07:32 AM PDT

I recently finished Hitman (2016) right after finishing Assassin's Creed Origins and it hit me how both are supposed to be "Assassin" games yet the freedom to complete assassinations in Hitman gives the game a high replayability value compared to Assassin's Creed games.
I understand Assassin's Creed is story-based while Hitman is more gameplay-based and I'm not asking for Assassin's Creed to become the next Hitman dupe but integrating Hitman's gameplay would give players far more freedom to complete tasks and assassinations. It would be revolutionary. There should be multiple methods to take out a target with various paths to reach such methods. You can take out a target using different forms of poison acquired from different sources around the map? or perhaps you resort to drowning them or pushing them off a cliff? or maybe you wanna settle to using the hidden blade? You have the freedom to do it all with no restrictions. What are your thoughts?

What is the best substitute for Edward to use in black flag in place of the unobtainable Edward Kenway’s Unique swords?

So Edward Kenway's Unique Swords are supposed to be the canon weapon Edward used in ac4 but they aren't naturally available in game, if I was looking for a canon substitute what would be the closest?

The TV show is a great opportunity for: a Bayek return as the lead character... In Rome! As we witness the construction of the Hidden Ones. Great for newcomers and fans. And some quality modern day, that actually goes full protocyberpunk/John Wick style action.

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 06:17 PM PDT

Bayek as the lead protagonist, for the historical narrative, in Rome as the brotherhood is developed, works for several reasons.

Great for newcomers as they get to know what the Hidden Ones are.

First, Bayek is awesome and I will fight anyone who says he isn't.

No, seriously, I will fight you. I will find you and I will kick you in the face.

Second, it continues his story for the fans of the franchise.

Third, modern day here, without being limited to a room at Abstergo but rather a global wide espionage tale, can be its own mini show inside the series, fulfilling the protocyberpunk nature of modern AC in a way the games cannot. Essentially, a John Wick/Mr Robot (the whole evil corporation theme) TV series inside an historical one. Even non MD fans would enjoy this, I think.

So, in essence, I think a Bayek Roman TV series with some protocyberpunk modern day aesthetics and action is the way to go for the series.

Unity & Odyssey Rewards (Ubisoft Connect)

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 02:22 PM PDT

Does anyone know why the Odyssey rewards on Ubisoft Connect aren't showing up? It says "Rewards aren't available for this game" (tried on both the app and on Web version)

Also, Unity's rewards have been cut dramatically from what we had originally (something like 20 down to 4)

Is this a glitch because of the whole Uplay / Club merge or have they been removed permanently?

I'm grateful for any help on the matter

Expanding Access the Animus theory about gender choice and alternative view on how it can be implemented (SPOILERS FOR SONG OF GLORY)

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 03:09 PM PDT

Access the Animus recently posted a great video with a solid theory about gender choice. So, before reading further, I'd suggest you to watch the video with them explaining it.

However, I've noticed one issue with how they viewed it. If Eivor with Valka's drink will be relieving Odin's memories and therefore Animus switches from female to male (in Asgard for example), then why Odin appears again in Asgard?

    https://preview.redd.it/8n4jsvmnhpv51.png?width=1300&format=png&auto=webp&s=df0cad16b71f7a8467e62f14332a32976fcc55c5

    That'd be contradicting.

Recently I've also read Song of Glory issue, and a woman named Gull (who is related to Isu) said to Eivor: what face are you wearing, what sould are you hiding?

It sounds like she saw another personality in Eivor. Just like... in Sages.

However, I absolutely believe in what ATA was proposing - a concept of "dominant DNA" that could be triggered with certain events, making the ancestor relieving memories of his ancestor - and I'll be sticking with this concept as I see this believable, with Darby as a writer.

So, here's where my theory leads. Basically, there are two way.

    Eivor is a female Sage

That can explain why Eivor sees Odin in presumably Asgard, and it's completely possible Aita was interacting with Odin during his days. Moreover, don't forget that Aita's personality sometimes surges from Sages - if I recall, only Elijah (Desmond's son) managed to control Aita's personality inside of him to a certain degree. Unlike Bartholomew Roberts, who couldn't do that, for example.

So, these Aita's surges caused by certain events might confuse Animus with gender and make it choose the male stream.

You can say "but she doesn't have heterochromia". Absolutely valid criticism. However, let me remind you who's the narrative director - the one who created the Sages concept in the first place. He might be able to come up with possible explanation to it. Besides, there were no female Sages known yet, and Sage's memories were never relieved before.

Still, it has some questionable things which are reasonable, so let me present you a version 2, which I prefer the most.

Odin's personality reincarnated in Eivor and emerged sometimes, like Aita's in Sages

That one is a bit complex to explain, so let me roll back to the Sage's concept. For this I'll quote the wiki:

Around 75000 BC, in an attempt to save Earth from a solar flare, Aita had volunteered to be a test subject of one of the solutions meant to prevent their civilization's destruction. His wife, the Isu scientist Juno, tried to replicate some of Consus' work by transferring Aita's consciousness into a more resistant synthetic body, but Aita died in the attempt.

However, before her imprisonment in the Grand Temple, Juno managed to manipulate the human genetic code, implanting a hidden trigger that would randomly activate and alter the genetic makeup of the individual, changing their appearance and imbuing them with Aita's memories, partially reviving her husband in a human form, again and again for millennia.

But what if Odin shared the same fate and went through the same experiment as Aita? What, if Eivor is an Odin-Sage - a person inside whom the Odin personality lives?

What are the arguments for this? Actually, Song of Glory might've hinted that.

Gull, a seer, saw a dual personality in Eivor. Let me repeat it: another personality.

    https://preview.redd.it/97bfzk07lpv51.png?width=1615&format=png&auto=webp&s=3abafa72f02de2b4aaa5aaecb2e8675191e9aac8

In fact, what if the man who's on the right to Eivor is not a male Eivor, but... Odin? Because If Eivor was just Odin's descendant, unlikely that Gull could've seen another personality. But she saw exactly this.

Another addition is that Vikings believed in people's reincarnation in others. For example, Ragnar (afaik) believed he was Odin's son. Maybe Eivor could exactly be the Odin's reincarnation.

And lastly, do you know what Odin is famous for?

Odin, a Viking and Norse god is known to be the father of all gods. Called as the All-Father, Norse god Odin comes with 36 different names in order to disguise himself whenever he is traveling where normal people are living. In order to disguise himself, he wears a long hat, green coat and a mask for him not to be recognized by everyone. Moreover, gods may have all the might and power which makes them above others but they still serve Odin, who is known to be the king of all the gods. - source

It might be that the writers took Odin's ability for this not as illusions, but literally reborn in different people, like Aita. After all, Odin was an Isu.

I know it might be tricky to understand, so I welcome any questions or feedback if you want to clarify anything.

Intresting Quote From The Story Trailer

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 11:05 PM PDT

Access The Animus's video got me thinking back on this one.

"You intrigue me, Wolf Kissed. Orphan and sibling, warrior and poet. You are many in one, it seems.

The last part really stood out to me.

Hearing this line in game, it'd just be throwaway. But, obviously, this was intentionally put into the story trailer. It just stood out to me. Can't wait to experience Eivors journey.

Just started Odyssey -- thoughts so far

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 08:38 PM PDT

I'm only level 6. I just started this game and in the first couple hours I'm kind of surprised at the writing. It's surprisingly good. It all makes sense and is easy to follow. It all seems to have one guiding narrative behind it, which just makes this awesome. Not perfect though. There's always room for improvement. It seems to make fun of itself sometimes which is very meta and fun, but it kind of takes me out of the game. Like when you save the family in Kausus from the blood fever, they are cheering. They are cheering, right after you burned down their village. I mean, just little things like that are the rough edges. Although I think this has great potential and am so looking forward to Valhalla. New fan.

The most frustrating quest in Origins

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 10:46 PM PDT

So you may never have seen this, I certainly hadn't, but as I was wandering through the Iment Nome, in Origins, near the Pyramids, there was a carpet, or some sheet, blowing in the wind. I had seen it before and thought nothing of it, but this time, I said 'why the hell not I'll follow it.' So I did, and as always, it turned to sand after a while. But something else caught my eye near where it turned to sand. In the distance, there was a tree on fire. A burning bush. I thought 'well maybe it's just a bible reference they added in as a joke.' But no! There was also a weird female voice whispering in the air, When I looked again, it turned to sand, and on a dune next to it, a few flowers had grown.

When I crested the hill, just the same, the flowers turned to sand. But, as always, another thing showed up. This time a woman riding on a camel. I followed her, she turned to sand, a few yards away I see her tending to flowers in the middle of the desert. I go to them, they turn into dust, I see a man wearing Greek robes standing, and he's pointing in a general direction. I follow him, and t a bunch of clones of him form a line pointing in the same direction. As I pass them, they too turn to dust. After a while, I came to one of the stone circles, where we can connect the constellations. In the middle of the circle, the woman is sitting crying.

It was at this point that it became frustrating. The circle was surrounded by jackals, and so after I killed them, a sandstorm hit. It was then when I wondered if the sandstorm was part of the event, or if it was just natural, but anyway, I turned out of the sandstorm and... I never saw another vision.

Was that it? Was there a final destination? Did anyone else get this?

Which system do you suggest for playing Valhalla?

I've played Syndicate on the Xbox and Origins on PlayStation and honestly didn't see many differences. Are there any opinions as to which system would be better for Valhalla or does it not matter?

In the lore, have the Templars ever actually lived up to their supposed values?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 12:30 PM PDT

I've only played two and a half of the games, so I'm no expert on the general lore. But from what I've gathered from playing, and reading wikis, the Templars officially want to establish a utopia free of want and prejudice and violence, with themselves as benevolent dictators.

However, almost every Templar I stab or see summed up in Youtube videos is a sneering villain who beats beggars to death with still-living puppies. Historically, they mostly seem involved with organised crime, torture, brutal conquests, human experimentation, murder of inconvenient people, various kinds of child abuse... and the list goes on.

Are there any Templars in the lore with actual good intentions, and who aren't just operating on greed for money or a lust for power? I only ever see the conflict being framed as awfully black and white.

Will Ubi sort out the ridiculous ragdoll physics before release?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 05:20 PM PDT

For the most part I have rather enjoyed the nee games, the expansive and beautiful open worlds have certainly made them great games to play. But where these games exceed their predecessors in world design they have taken a few steps back, I loved the combat in the older games but agree for the most part it was far too easy for games that pretty much hinged on that and only that, I think the combat in the new games is a stepping stone to where it should be.

That being said, I can't stand the stupid ragdoll mechanics, it was noticeable but far I say excusable in origins, it wasn't realistic but at the same time wasn't ridiculous, then odyssey came. A game in Ancient Greece that had suddenly developed a fetish for combat abilities made a Spartan kick ability inevitable, shit they even used it to announce the game, and if it were that and only that that had the ridiculous ragdoll as a gimmick then it could be excusable, but it's not, it's everything, and it completely takes you out of the game, and Valhalla so far looks like it's going to be worse.

Look at any video where they are showing off the combat, especially the battle videos, bodies are flying left right and centre it is fucking laughable and every time it happens the person doing the presentation is clearly embarrassed, they know it looks stupid, so I'm wondering will they remove this shitty mechanic before release?

The Colonial Rite was doing a better job at maintaining peace than the Colonial Brotherhood

    Posted: 27 Oct 2020 10:50 AM PDT

AC:3 and Rogue deliver the most detailed storyline about the one of the most controversial time period of the entire AC Series.

The mentorship of Achilles Davenport was proven faulty when without understanding the full potential of Pieces of Eden, or rather, a Seismic Temple was accessed by the brotherhood in order to 'retrieve' the Piece of Eden, resulting a devastating Earthquake in Lisbon, 1755 (also in Haiti, 1751).
The brotherhood came to senses when the Mentor himself tried to access the Arctic ISU Temple in North Atlantic.

By this time, assassin turncoat Shay Patrick Cormac made it clear to the Order that accessing those Precursor Sites would result a catastrophic outcome that can change the shape of the World.

It can be said that the search for Precursor Temple in Boston, led by Grand Master Haytham Kenway was a failed attempt to secure the site from the assassins.

The Order tried many ways to prevent the assassins to get access to the Temples. Shay alone dismantled the brotherhood, and by showing mercy, he made sure that Achilles would warn future generation. This explains why Achilles hesitated to train Ratonhnhaké:ton (aka Connor)

Connor, a trained Assassin, led by vengeance, undid the entire work of the Order. Without knowing the truth, Connor believed that Charles Lee set fire upon his village, killing his Mother. Little did he know, he was being manipulated by the Hologram of Juno, the Chaotic Evil ISU.

Though Achilles at first tried to reason with him, but eventually, led by humiliation, he asked Connor to deal with the Order.
"It's a start. But to truly be free of Templar influence, all of them must be dealt with in turn. Even your father."

In Otso Berg's report on Al Mualim, it was mentioned that if Altair didn't kill his mentor, the endless fighting between two creed would have never progressed.

If Connor had listened to reasons, Juno might not be released into the world. There might even be peace between Templars and Assassins where they both work side by side to protect the world, to maintain peace.
