    AC: Valhalla has gone GOLD!

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 08:01 AM PDT

Assassin's Creed Origins is one of the most visually beautiful game I've ever play so here are bunch of screenshots I took while playing it.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 10:51 PM PDT

[SPOILER] I love how Darby expresses his honest opinions about the franchise.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 06:20 AM PDT

One example is him saying that Ezio's family theme shouldn't be used outside of Ezio's trilogy and another one is responding to someone who told him that it's sad to see that Juno was killed off in a f###ing comic by saying me 2.

Ps. He confirmed that Juno was lying when she said that Desmond and Clay are inside the Gray with her. He explained that that should be obvious because Clay's consciousness was deleted (in revelations' ending i suppose). He didn't mention anything about Desmond though.

People who hated AC Odyssey, will you give Vallhala a chance?

I really hated Odyssey, but I feel conflicted about Vallhala. I wanted to know if there are people feeling the same.

Everybody talks about Ezio’s family being the Brotherhood, but have you all forgotten about Altaïr, whose only family *WAS THE BROTHERHOOD?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 08:33 AM PDT

I constantly hear about how "Ezio's family is the Assassins", but they completely skip over Altaïr, who was born into the Order. His mother died when he was very young, so he never knew her, his father was betrayed, and then died, his (former) best friend was the guy whose dad betrayed his father, his father figure was the Mentor of the order he was born into, his sons and wife were all Assassins, and he died as an Assassin. His entire life, he was an Assassin.

When Al Mualim asked Altaïr at the end of the first Memory Seal mission about whether or not he regretted to live as an Assassin, Altaïr responds "How could I regret the only life I have ever known?" Ezio had a life before the Assassins. He had a family. He had a biological sister, biological brothers, a father and a mother. Altaïr had no biological siblings, or parents, he had only those who were also Assassins.

He was forced into exile by the same man whose father betrayed his, and then that same man killed Altaïr's son, and was indirectly responsible for the death of Altaïr's wife. But he still came back to the order. He never gave up hope. He came back, and killed no one except Abbas and his captains. The only Assassins who were killed during his return, were those that broke the tenets of the Creed.

After he returned, and killed Abbas, he spent the next and final 10 years of his life reforming the Brotherhood. Turning it into the secretive, worldwide order it is. Ezio may have lived as an Assassin for a long time, but he got out. He didn't die as "Master Assassin and Mentor, Ezio Auditore da Firenze". He died as "Ezio Auditore da Firenze". Altaïr was born into the Brotherhood, and DIED in the Brotherhood. It was the only life he ever knew. So it's really Altaïr whose family is the Assassins. Because that's all he had.

Edit: To clear up, I don't mean everybody, just the people who say Ezio's family is the Assassins, while forgetting about Altaïr.

We |ABSOLUTELY| need camera distance slider option for combat.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 09:17 AM PDT

Reposting on main sub for AC for more traction.

What's your position on implementing a slider option for camera distance while in combat? Recently we've had look at quite a few videos where we saw great finishers in action but when there's a group fight, the way that camera zooms out seems quite unengaging. I know many AC players prefer closer camera. I'm in a similar position. It's understandable why they decided to go with zoomed out camera-it's easier to see what's going on around the players-even behind them. This is very convenient for casual players but some of us strategic players might find it less immersive and personal. The game combat would be more immersive if it had better combat camera angle-maybe even over shoulder as in God of War.

Edit: I think AC should also include iFrames in their combat so that they don't have to make the dodge animation so ludicrous.

Stealth Isn’t Mandatory in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, But Lets You Use Strong Combat Abilities

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 08:07 AM PDT

The idea behind Assassin's Creed flags is amazing. Just a shame Ubisoft didn't get the joke

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 11:25 AM PDT

There are 420 collectable flags in AC. It is a meta-commentary on pointless collectables. The developer admitted the only reason he put them in the game was to see if anyone would actually bother collecting them. They serve absolutely no purpose other than getting an achievement. The flags are a giant shitpost and it's beautiful. Just a shame all the other games followed this and littered the map with pointless shit e.g feathers.

Assassins Creed Rogue needs more love

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 06:18 PM PDT

I just got AC Rogue again for the first time since it came out and I'm starting to remember how solid of an AC game it really is. Sure it plays just like AC Black Flag but the story and setting are super cool in my opinion. I won't say anything so I don't give away spoilers but I feel like every AC fan needs to play it to get a new perspective on things

Assassins Creed: A Newfound Love post

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 09:06 PM PDT

Although an old school, lifelong gamer who's never stopped playing no matter how old I get, sometimes I'm still surprised, and this time it was right in front of my stupid face the whole time. Odyssey was the first AC game I played. I heard they were good, I just never really got around to them. I did play a demo of Black Flag but i was just thrown into a naval battle in a storm and had no idea what was going on so I hated it. Too bad for me I guess. Picked up Odyssey, deluxe/gold?...idk. All DLCs n some peripheral bs, on super sale I guess, for $26 last Christmas season. WOW. I was immediately wowed by the feel of the controls, the graphics, and of course, starting as Leonidas at Thermopylae. I was immediately hooked & figured I'd eventually kill this game so I bought 4 more AC games for $30 total. Platinum Odyssey. Only thing left to do is find the last Smercenary and I spent too long already looking for him. AC3 Remastered. Incredible. Even at its age, it is a great game with a compelling story. I especially enjoyed interacting with all the American historical figures without the candy coating we get in school. While a great game, I did miss a more evolved combat system. While I was playing AC3, Origins went on sale. $26 all dlc. Finished the main story on 3 then moved on. Origins. Outstanding game amongst outstanding games. As a father(x4), this one got me all misty several times. What incredible storytelling and gameplay. Few games, or any other form of entertainment, have given me such a satisfying experience. Platinum. Syndicate, or as I referred to it as...Grand Theft Carriage. Fun. I really liked the zip line gun. Took me a minute to really enjoy it, but I did, quite a bit by the end. I usually pad out the story a while by gathering everything and doing all side missions between viewpoints and story missions, so just finishing the story with these games isn't a wham bam thank you ma'am. Unity. Didn't like it at all. In the beginning. Not sure when, but it became my 3rd favorite thus far. I would still be playing it had I not preordered Valhalla n realized I still had other ACs to play first. Ultimately all I did was finish the story n get all collectibles n that bullshit wall jumping crap to get the outfit from the Nostradamus enigmas. That sucked. Not even a puzzle, just a luck of the draw "when's he gonna just stop on this steam thing n not go either way?" bs frackin... Anyway Started Black Flag 2 days ago. LOVING it. It's a bit "chunky" I think you call it. I told my wife it was great but a bit primitive n she immediately pointed out that I played PONG on Atari WHEN IT CAME OUT! Perhaps I should choose my words more wisely. ..but I digress.. This(Black Flag), I can already tell will easily supplant Unity as my #3. I love the environment! The time and place is fascinating to me. The gameplay, while "chunky" at times, is somewhere in the realm of what I'm used to. I love the lineage tie in. So far, I think this is a really fantastic game, so much so, that I think I may not hit Valhalla on opening day. I'm a patient man. I'll murder that one after I've murdered this one.

TLDR;never played AC before. Played the everlovin bejesus out of them this year. My most fun year of gaming ever. WORST YEAR EVER!!!!, but at least I had a newfound love. Oh, n a healthy family Edit: punctuation n stuff

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 08:27 PM PDT

A while ago I was replaying AC3 and Desmond was talking to his father and makes a great point when he ask why don't the assassins and Templar's make peace because they both want the peace only difference is the assassins want freedom and the Templar's want control but regardless they all want peace

Guaranteed Assassinations saved Valhalla for me.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 08:52 AM PDT

I've been down on modern Assassin's Creed for a long time, I didn't really like Origins or Odyssey, they didn't really feel like Assassin's Creed to me (Odyssey more so than Origins). I really hated the bloat and levelgating in both games, the lack of white room confessions in Odyssey, and the lack of emphasis on stealth (social stealth in particular), and most of all the inability to always 1HK with a stealth assassination.

For a while we have been hearing that Valhalla was fixing most of these, levelgating, bloat, social stealth, white room confessions, etc. But it wasn't enough for me to want to buy Valhalla, I was done with the series after Odyssey burned me so bad... but now we have confirmation of the ability to turn on Guaranteed Assassinations from stealth. Any level target can be 1HK from stealth. I'm so happy. I'm actually going to buy Valhalla on launch for PS5 now.

I really hope it sticks the landing and this feels like real Assassin's Creed to me again in the end.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla - 20 Minutes of Social Stealth and stealthy infiltration gameplay

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 09:02 AM PDT

(Gameplay Mechanic Spoilers) I've compiled a list of all of Valhalla's main skills

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 03:48 PM PDT

So the most recent demo offered players the chance to respec, resulting in some footage from youtubers exploring all the skills in the skill tree menu without it being clouded over, so for the sake of convenience and discussion I thought I would try to list them all that I've seen (I've potentially missed one or 2 but this really seemed like all of them)

This list is just of the main nodes in the skill tree, there's lots of little nodes too which seem to add little stat boosts

Also this doesn't include abilities which unlike Odyssey are unlocked and assigned from a different menu

    So here goes...

Missile retrieval: parry an incoming projectile to grab it in midair and return to sender

Breakfall: automatically roll to reduce fall damage

Last Chance Healing: at low health time slows, giving a chance to heal or flee

Grit: regain "the red portion of your health bar" when landing a melee hit (sounds kind of like bloodborne)

Battleground bolt: interact with any weapon dropped on the ground to throw it at an enemy

Charged shot: charge and shoot 2 arrows at once (looks similar to the overpower shot or devestating shot attacks from Odyssey)

Sprint attack: attack while sprinting to perform a special attack (sounds similar to God of War)

Bow to Melee Link: switching between bow and melee briefly boosts damage

Bow stun finisher: deal a stun attack with the bow

Advanced assassination: initiate a quick time event to assassinate an enemy with higher power than you

Auto loot: automatically loot assassinated enemies

Chain assassination: after an assassination, throw an axe at another enemy (looks way better than the equivalent move in Origins)

Assassin cantrip: throw a smoke bomb at your feet on a successful parry

Miasma: poisoned enemy corpses release more poison to intoxicate nearby enemies

Explosive corpse: booby trap a body to damage anyone who investigates it

Guided arrow: control predator arrows mid-flight

Backstab: deal extra damage and stagger when attacking them from behind

Emergency aim: automatically snap bow aim to the enemies head when they spot you

Hunter bow combo: bow will draw faster on the next arrow if you release an arrow at the point it finishes drawing

Stealth recon: automatically highlight enemies when hidden and crouched

Stealth adrenaline: gain adrenaline by looting or pickpocketing while undetected in a restricted area

Arrow reinforcement: your arrows never break and can be retrieved from bodies

Parry damage: a successful parry deals damage

Stomp: when an enemy falls over you get a prompt to jump on their head

Adrenaline fiend: damage and attack speed boost for every adrenaline slot filled

Arrow volley: fire all loaded arrows at once with the light bow (sounds like the warrior bow from origins)

Perfect attack: hit the attack button when your attacks land to deal extra damage

Warrior takedown: from stealth take down an enemy loudly, alerting nearby enemies but filling your adrenaline (sounds like brutal attack from Shadow of War)

Sprint bash: charge NPCs into breakable objects or knock them to the ground

Battlefield cremation: enemies that die from fire continue to burn, dealing fire damage to nearby enemies

Light bow combo: consecutive landed hits with the light bow deal extra damage

Terror: a stun finisher causes weaker enemies to cower in fear

Beserkers mettle: partially filled adrenaline bars are not lost by taking damage

Dual swap: swap your main and offhand weapon in combat

Heavy dual wield: dual wield 2 2-handed weapons

Counter roll: dodge into an enemy as they perform a heavy attack to vault over them

Predator bow combo: consecutive headshots with the predator bow deal extra damage

Brush with death: performing a perfectly timed dodge slows time

Alright, that's it, there were more than I thought when I started this post...phew...

I'm going to be honest I'm a little disappointed by these, a lot of them are carried over from Origins or Odyssey, none of them seem particularly game changing and it's like anyone with any playstyle could probably make use of most of them

But then the same could be said for Odysseys passive skills so let's hope the actual abilities are a little more exciting, as it stands I'm a bit worried stealth players are going to have very little to play with compared to fighters/archers as I've not seen any particularly interesting stealth skills, and the smoke bomb being restricted to combat kind of sucks

It's also worth noting the more points invested into each skill line, the more effective that type of gear becomes, so even if you don't find the Raven skills particularly Assassin-y the boost to effectiveness of armour like The Hidden Ones set (which increases assassination and headshot damage while undetected) might still be gratifying

[SPOILER] for Last Descendants novels. Theory on the next arc after Layla.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 07:43 PM PDT

So now that it's confirmed that Valhalla will be the final act of Layla's arc, it's got me thinking about what comes next. I hope that they have plans and don't just stall like they did between Desmond and Layla. Now they could just give us a new character like they did with Layla (and they probably will). BUT, I think it would be great to bring back the kids from Last Descendants!

By now these kids are all 19-20, so by the next game they'd be all in their early 20s, perfect age to be protagonists. And how cool would it be to play as the next generation of Assassins?!

Another great option would be to play as Elijah, Desmond's son. But I think the LD kids make more sense, as Elijah would be on the run avoiding both Assassins and Templars as much as possible. Tracking him down could be one of our goals in the next arc though. Maybe trying to connect him and William Miles together.

Would love to discuss this below with y'all!

An idea about the relevance of Norway and Sigurd and Basim

    Posted: 16 Oct 2020 04:07 PM PDT

Darby just replied to someones tweet of the codex map in ac2 where there is a piece of eden shown in Scandinavia, which is where we will begin the game. Darby replied "whish i would've seen that earlier" however i think he knows to much about the lore to have forgot. I think this is him subtly hinting that norway will have a isu temple.

Now initially i had a theory that the assassins would be the ones who invade norway to try and find open the vault, however now i am wondering if they are forced to leave norway due to an earthquake or something like rogue. Either the assassins or Sigurd could have found the location and attempted to get it however it caused an earthquake.

This, or the the fact that the reason the assassins become close to sigurd, who conveniently wears the templar cross on his belt and paldrons, is so they can get to Norway and investigate the location without causing any suspicion and plan an attack on norway as a distraction. This sounds farfetched but darby is an incredible writer as seen with revelations and black flag, i just think the end of the game will be where it starts in norway

    It should be interesting
