Just started Odyssey and it’s amazing Posted: 15 Oct 2020 10:59 AM PDT I'm coming off of replaying the originals(AC1-3) and hoped into Odyssey to get myself into hype for Valhalla. This game literally fixed so many of my long lasting issues with Assassins Creed. The horses are actually useful and fast. The combat feels fun for a change and not just waiting for a guy to hit you so you can press counter and kill everyone in a chain. The world is massive and interesting. The main character is super like-able and funny and interesting. The abilities you can spend points on change combat so much. The enemy hideouts can be tackled however you want. Nothing feels restrictive. It feels like Far Cry. No getting desynchronized for getting spotted. No stupid fucking tailing missions where you get a countdown the second you don't see your target. You can be stealthy or a monster charging in. I'm not sure how much of this was added in before Odyssey. But I came into this game very skeptical due to the RPG mechanics taking over. But it's probably one of my favorites of the franchise now and I can't wait to play more. I'm very impressed with the direction the series is being taken. [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Oct 2020 01:05 PM PDT My reason for that is two-factored. Firstly, those two places being shorter gives the devs more opportunity to make them unique experiences compared to the regular gameplay loop in England. I think the afterlifes in Origins, but especially the three Atlantis maps in Odyssey suffered from having to keep up the same activities already present in the overworld to deliver enough content for the price of the DLC. By comparison, the Shangri-La maps in Far Cry 4 did not have to bother with giving the player upgrades for their gun or anything like that, they were fully self-contained. And both of the settings listed here would IMO benefit the most from having more out there rules instead of just being a different skybox to do the same things in. Asgard obviously is a mythical place. There are Gods there. I want to go there to have my mind blown. I want to climb really big trees. I want to ride an eight-legged horse hunting a giant snake. I want to wrestle a wolf the size of a mountain. I don't want to hear Welcome to Nordic heaven, over here are some chests to loot and over there you can kill some soldiers to get XP. North America has the problem that it's mostly just 'empty', unless they made the natives hostile for some reason, which I really don't see Ubisoft doing. If they made a big DLC around it, it would need an enemy to fight. And if it came down to an enemy expedition having arrived just before you and controlling everything so you can fight the same enemies you did in the base game, I would pass. In that case, I'd rather just be able to take in the landscape, have some contact with natives, visit an ancient Isu location and then be done. So in both cases, I think a 2-3 hour experience that really changes up the rules compared to what you experience in the english countryside would be preferable to a full-sized expansion. Secondly, this would then leave the DLC spots open for visiting some of the other places that were important in Viking History. Obviously Ireland or northern France would be top contenders. And with the Viking expansion commonly seen to be mainly directed westwards, I would really love to see expansions in the eastern part of Europe. The Baltic, the slavic river systems, or even down to Constantinople. Visiting Asgard could even be integrated into those DLCs, with its own story continuing throughout them. [link] [comments]

Speculation on the North America area for AC Valhalla Posted: 15 Oct 2020 04:15 PM PDT Remember the Apple of Eden in AC3 where Connor got some visions from Juno? I think either that Apple came from Eivor and the others OR Eivor learned of a seer in the New World and wanted to see it for himself. How it'll play in the story though I got no idea haha. Posted: 15 Oct 2020 02:31 PM PDT So, this might be a bit out there, but honestly we've seen weirder in this series. After the reveal of the 'default' option switching between genders, my fiancée (who loves mythology) suggested this: what if Eivor is a child of Loki? In the myths, Loki changed sex at will (and also, you know, into a horse). This could potentially explain a few things: -The situation with the gender. -Protagonists are usually Isu descendents - Loki could be an Isu, but perhaps a different kind, thus leading to a variation in powers. -Eivor is an orphan, so perhaps they're hiding the parents for a reason? Anyway, I've loved this idea since she came up with it, even if it may be unlikely. [link] [comments]
Using Ikaros to kill leaders, polemarches, captains, etc. Posted: 15 Oct 2020 03:49 PM PDT After gaining "level" three of Eyes of Ikaros, I decided to try something out. "Level" three allows you to harass and damage anyone you see when you are looking through Ikaro's eyes. When I got to a fort, I hid in some grass, switched to Ikaros, hovered, found a captain, harassed him and Ikaros takes a good chunk of health off each time you do it. No cooldown, as the moment Ikaros flies away, you can do it again. You have to be less than 50 meters from your target and you have to be able to have direct line for Ikaros to attack. After this, forts and military camps are s breeze. The only thing? You gotta synchronize alot of viewpoints to get it, but if your tired of having to fight everybody in a camp or for when your assassination doesn't kill your target, have your eagle buddy do it for you. Will Eivor’s hood show in dialogue and cutscenes? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 03:24 PM PDT As much as I love Odyssey, one thing I had a problem with was that the hood never showed up in dialogue scenes or cutscenes. So will that be the case in Valhalla, or will the hood show? Because I like the hood showing. [link] [comments]

Ac Valhalla fighting animal (taming/companion) Posted: 16 Oct 2020 12:07 AM PDT So I was wondering if anyone knew wether something like this would be possible (check title). I quite liked the animal taming in odyssey cause at least my journey's felt less lonely at times + when I was on the weak end of a spectrum a bear could soak up a few hits while I retreated back to recover. Rather sad for the bear, I know but I deemed the system super practical. It was fun and convenient. Does anyone know if we can expect features like this? [link] [comments]

Colonial Australia - Common Setting Discussions Posted: 15 Oct 2020 07:55 AM PDT A common trait Assassin's Creed groups have is the constant theorizing about future settings, because historical tourism is one of the best parts of the series. This series of posts will act as a counter to my Mildly Obscure setting discussions, but rather than looking at a single point, I will be taking a broad setting that is popular and looking at several potential settings to explore within it. Today's setting is Colonial Australia. The Rum Rebellion Australia began as a Penal Colony for the British in the 1780s who were seeking to undermine the French in the region; and subsequently, the city of Sydney was the de-facto capital of the New South Wales colony where thousands of prisoners were sent. In 1804 Irish convicts who were part of a rebellion 6 years prior rose up again with 233 men. Martial Law was declared quickly and Major George Johnston mobilized 97 men to fight the rebels at Rouse Hill. 15 Died in battle with 9 more executed (including the ringleader Phillip Cunningham) and 23 exiled. Johnston subsequently became the commander of the New South Wales Corps, and over the next 3 years may have investigated further plots by Irish Rebels that had escaped and tried to start new uprisings. William Bligh became Governor of Sydney in 1805 only to begin clashing with the rich elite of New South Wales who controlled and were pioneers in Australian Rum and Wool industries including John Macarthur. Beyond taking land from these men, allegedly he was interfering with the New South Wales Corps affairs and was abusive towards the men, as reported by Major Johnston in 1807 to the British Military. This in turn culminated with a coup and arrest of Governor Bligh in January of 1808 by Macarthur and Johnston. After contacting allies in Tasmania and sacking some land and reselling it, the two were eventually removed from office in 1810 with Lachlan Macquarie instated as Governor. He would spend the next 11 years transforming New South Wales into a free colony. Macquarie would most likely be portrayed as an Assassin Ally, though I could Macarthur and Johnston also being allies, who either broke the tenets of the creed by being too public, or they could be Templars attempting to seize land for themselves looking for vaults, as several are on the Australian Continent. The Australian Gold Rush Australia in many ways mimics America during the same era. During the 1840s-1900 gold rushes swarmed Australia and people flooded the colonies and mines looking to make a fortune. At the same time, dozens of gangs filled the cities and outback, looking to scam and steal the fortunes of the newcomers. These bushrangers acted much the same as American Outlaws in the old west and include some famous Australians like Moondyne Joe, Mary Ann Bugg, Captain Thunderbolt, Captain Moonlight, and Dan Morgan. Many of these men and women hold a freedom fighter folk hero status in parts of Australia, but most were far from it. I can definitely see them being treated like Pirates in AC4 with some being Assassins and others being Templars, and maybe founding a small posse or bushranger gang to fight back. During this time, Australia's colonies were expanding and entering into small wars with native Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. Much like with America, there's too many for me to fully list, so here's a Wikipedia link which lists most of the massacres from 1790-1920. Much like with America there could be an interesting story about natives navigating the exploration and conquering of their continent by Europeans, while also possibly dealing with the gangs and warfare from citizens around the country. The unique, gorgeous, landscapes and wildlife of Australia definitely make for an interesting period, as do famous big cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane; the latter two which hold vaults or Isu artifacts. Speaking of such, there's also a vault in the outback near modern-day Alice Springs and underwater in the Southern Great Australian Bight. At this same time, New Zealand was in the midst of wars with Maori and declaring itself to self govern. This could make a great DLC with interesting cities of Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch to visit amidst the stunning landscapes. The Great Emu War It was 1932. The local Emu population had been decimating crops and bounties placed on their heads were not sufficient to bring in enough Emu deaths to stop Farmer complaints. As a result, the federal government allowed Sir George Pearce, Major G. P. W. Meredith, and the Royal Australian Artillery to begin a month-long campaign of death and destruction to the vicious Emu, with some estimates hoping they'd kill 20,000 Emu. Know while no human deaths were reported, 986 Emu were killed using 9860 rounds. Why did it take so many rounds to kill so few Emu? Assassin Emu. Armed with a hidden blade, we could play as an Emu ushering its brethren away and fighting the good fight against the vile Royal Australian Artillery, making them waste rounds as our Emu character dances through the hail of gunfire, assassinating George Pearce and Major Meredith. The lore just makes way too much sense. Ubi pls. [link] [comments]
Best and/or most fun map to traverse of the 360/PS3 games Posted: 15 Oct 2020 04:41 PM PDT I've been a fan of assassin's creed for 10 years now, but have only had the first game. I recently picked up the rest of the 360 games and was wondering which map is the most fun to traverse, or just the most fun to run around in nonstop? Which one had the highest density of buildings close together that make getting around fun? [link] [comments]
What is your favourite Assassin symbol? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 11:11 PM PDT I love the little changes in designs between the games. Personally my favourite is the shattered one in Rogue, but the eye of Horus in Origins is nice as well. [link] [comments]
This is how Charisma works in AC Valhalla. Posted: 15 Oct 2020 08:43 AM PDT So I was seeing a footage in TetraNinja for which the link is below. See the conversation from 8:39 in this video. So TetraNinja did some flyting which increased his charisma level earlier in had to pay double the price for the information needed or he would have to infiltrate in Tonna's camp and find for information. At last all the outcomes remains the same, they got to know where they have to go next to get the king they want to dethrone. [link] [comments]

How will Eivor's journey to Vinland go? Posted: 15 Oct 2020 10:20 PM PDT Historically, the vikings clashed with the natives CONSTANTLY upon their arrival to North America. The Vikings did establish a major settlement for a few years but eventually abandoned it due to relentless native (possibly Inuit I think) aggression in the year 1050. So will Eivor be on that Columbus shit? Or will there be some far out twist and he ends up being an ancestor of Connor? [link] [comments]
OK, Sigurd definitely becomes a Templar/Ancient. Posted: 15 Oct 2020 10:10 AM PDT We all know that something fishy was going on with Sigurd and in an Access The Animus Interview with Darby McDevitt he says that the prophecy is that Eivor will betray Sigurd and throughout the story Sigurd does things that Eivor does not agree with and it gets harder to stay loyal. But during one of the missions in the new gameplay released Sigurd talks about the King (Can't remember his name) that united Norway and he said he now really likes him as he thinks everyone should be united. This is what the Templars want. Unity. This upon many hints I think it's impossible for Sigurd not to become a Templar during the story. [link] [comments] |
