I'm 20 hours into Odyssey, but Origins is still the better game IMO. Here's why: Posted: 14 Oct 2020 12:38 AM PDT I like how Origins had some RPG elements but wasn't a full on RPG. Odyssey is a huge game with tons of content, but it feels like the world is too huge and leveling up is a grind. Origins got it just right with the leveling system. It didn't take too long to level up in that game. Also, in Origins, I believe you had the option to have the enemies scale to your level or not. The mercenary system is also kind of annoying. I understand why they put it in the game, it makes the game more challenging and realistic. However, it gets on my nerves when I accidentally get caught assassinating someone in a fort and a mercenary comes after me. The nice thing about phylakes (Origins mercenaries) is they would stay around the same area and they weren't constantly pursuing you. It's just kind of irritating when mercs comes after you when you're working on a fort or an important mission. Lastly, I'm not a fan of bows in Odyssey. I liked that Origins had different classes of bows. With a predator bow in Origins, you could literally headshot most guards. In Odyssey, you need a special ability plus perks to one shot headshot guards. I just thought it was way more fun and assassinlike to be able to headshot from the get-go in Origins. Anyways, what's your opinion on Odyssey vs Origins? [link] [comments]

The reason why Achilles didn't tell Connor about Shay Posted: 13 Oct 2020 10:31 PM PDT I think the reason why Achilles didn't tell Connor about Shay deep down, saved the Assassin brotherhood by going rogue, if he hadn't destroyed the Colonial brotherhood, they would have become the complete opposite of what they were supposed to be. Then, Connor would be able to rebuild the brotherhood. Shay also spared Achilles's life. Achilles probably understood his mistake and he wanted to thank shay. if he told Connor about Shay, Connor would have hunted Shay down and probably killed him. [link] [comments]

All the theories regarding both genders being canon in AC Valhalla Posted: 13 Oct 2020 03:52 PM PDT Hey guys, So right at the very beginning when Valhalla was announced, Darby confirmed for us that both genders in AC Valhalla will be canon and today that fact got even spicier as we got confirmation that you can play the whole game in a mode, where the animus chooses which gender resonates more with the current memory and darby hinted that this is the canon way to play the game. Since I cant stop speculating I decided to make a post about all the theories Ive read on this sub and/or twitter and basically say what they are about and why I think they are or arent possible. Also if you dont wanna be spoiled (incase one of those theories proves to be right) you maybe shouldnt read this, but if you like speculation then this thread got you covered. Anyways here goes:
Similiar to odyssey, this theory is based around the fact that the animus cant really identify eivors dna and therefor the gender is unknown. Honestly this theory is pretty unlikely as darby said that the genderswap is a big mistery of valhallas story and just using the same plotdevice as the previous game doesnt really make for a great mistery, also Im convinced that when darby says both are canon he means the actual historical people are canon and not just that layla cannonically sees both through the animus.
This theory is definetly one of the wilder ones out there. It basically says that since loki, the god of mischief in norse mythology, can swap genders, eivor could be their descendent and be gifted with that same ability. Loki would ofc be an isu in AC lore and many protagonists before had isu blood flowing through their veins. However never had one inherited a specific ability from an isu. That would suggest that loki would be the direct parent of eivor or something,, otherwise it would be super random that eivor gets their ability. Also why would loki have such an ability in the first place as isu dont really have supernatural ability unless they are using a piece of eden, which leads to the next theory....
So this has basically the same idea as theory 2, where eivor can swap gender on the fly, but the explanation is a bit better and a bit more in line with AC lore I guess. Also you could say that loki used that poe to shapeshift during his time. The reason why I think that theory is unlikely is because a) we havent seen any sort of PoE in eivors possesion so far, tho they could just keep it a secret and b) people probably would react to eivor genderswapping at least at one point in the story and if they didnt that would mean canonically eivor cant change it on the fly or it would be just lazy writing on ubisofts part, which I honestly doubt since darbys in charge. Also it would be weird for people choosing to play as only one gender. c) as of today we know that the genderswap is an animus mechanic not something eivor just can do. Point b) and c) also disprove theory 2
I cant say I understand much about genderfluidity, so I apoĺogize if I say something wrong here, I do not intend to offend anyone with this. But the way I understand it is you feel like you belong to one gender one moment and to the other gender at another moment. So the way it could be is that eivor is born a woman but on some days feels like a man and the animus could actually represents this by giving her a male character model. This would mean male eivor is actually just the way female eivor saw herself on some days. I also think this theory is unlikely as we know that the gender thing will actually be an important mystery of the story that will be revealed as we progress through the game. I feel like eivor being genderfluid would be an important charactertrait that wouldnt be a mistery, but rather something you would learn at the beginning of the game.
This theory is really interesting imo. It says that female eivor is what canonically happened in history (hence the female name) but since alfred didnt wanna admit defeat against a woman, he decides to let history be written as if eivor was a guy to make future generations think he didnt lose to a woman which would be something unthinkable for his time period. The thing that pretty much makes this theory impossible tho is that the animus would have no reason to show male eivor as an option because the animus shows actual memories.
Now I say this is my theory as I came up with it earlier today on my own, but of course its possible that there are people that had a similiar theory, however I havent read one so far. My theory basically states that female and male eivor are two different people but for some narrative reason they have the same memories. Maybe in the end they tell you who the real eivor is (probably the female one as its a female name) and some PoE related event somehow makes male eivor believe he has the same memories of the real eivor. It could also be possible that the story of eivor is actually the story of 2 people and for some reason they forgot each other and had their memory fused to be one person. This theory would explain how all playthroughs would make narrative sense no matter how often and when you change gender and would also explain how a one gender playthrough could also still be canon. These are all the theories Ive read I think. Feel free to add some I missed in the comments as I would love to hear all the theories out there, because for some reason this genderplot intrigues me. Also thank you for reading :) [link] [comments]
Male and Female Eivor discussion Posted: 13 Oct 2020 03:31 PM PDT So we have all seen the new and interesting Assassins creed news about and option that is canon that switcher between male eivor and female eivor in different parts of the story. Perhaps this could have something to do with a piece of eden but i am leaning towards another theory. We know in the 'Eivors Fate' Trailer that the narrator says "i can see your deepest desires" and "their is a war inside you Eivor" given that these quotes are chose specifically we instantly think about something to do with the story but i am now leaning towards the idea that the seer that can see eivors thoughts is able to understand their emotions as well. I think in certain parts of the story eivors gender will change depending on how they are feeling at that current time, i think eivor is able to see people in a way others can't which could both links to odin as well as the eagle vision aspect of ac. This should be interesting! [link] [comments]
Got my preorder in, just wishing for system requirements. Posted: 13 Oct 2020 12:00 PM PDT Now just waiting to see if I can run Valhalla on my laptop. It runs odyssey fine, and can chug along RDR2 at 40 FPS, so I should be okay (hopefully). [link] [comments]
Posted: 13 Oct 2020 06:03 PM PDT I recently completed Assassin's Creed Unity and I have to say...the game isone of the better Assassin's Creed games. I feel like it often rated very low compared to other Assassin's Creed simply because of the buggy mess the game was on release date. However, the game has been through several updates and upgrades since it was first released. The story/plot isn't exactly revolutionary but then again this is the case with most Assassin's Creed games. It might fall short in story it is highly superior in terms of graphics, atmosphere, parkour, gameplay and mechanics. Not to mention Arno is a very likeable character. Graphics: Unity is far superior in terms of graphics. The visuals are aesthetically pleasing and the attention to detail is impeccable. Atmosphere and Location: Revolution Paris is the perfect location for an Assassin's Creed game. The atmosphere is incredibly vivid. NPCs at every corner. Chatter here and there and the fact this game allows you to access homes and buildings adds to the realism of the game. You can pass by and watch people go about their daily lives within their homes or out on the street. It's incredibly entertaining to just walk around and explore. Parkour: Paris's tight-knit houses and buildings make it the perfect location for parkour. Not to mention this game has the best parkour system amongst all other games. Incredibly fluid, flexible and realistic. The animation movements are simply elite. The parkour complements the exploring and open world aspect instead of making it feel like a chore. Gameplay and mechanics: Unity has one of the complex and challenging combat system between all AC games. Diverse movements and endless customization. The outfits and weapons variety make Unity stand out. Every time you get bored of Arno's appearance or weapon of choice, there's a ton of other options to choose from. The open world is beautiful to run around and explore. The sandbox assassinations are some of the best missions the whole franchise has ever witnessed. I have to admit, though, the side quests are boring and useless. Overall, I would highly recommend you pick up the game if you haven't already. Ignore the comments and backlash Unity receives online based on the old version of the game. Pick up the game and experience it for what it is today. The game needs a sequel! [link] [comments]

An interesting link between Asgard/the Seers hut and the historical Assassin order Posted: 13 Oct 2020 12:37 PM PDT So now we've got screenshots of Asgard, supposedly available through drinking questionable concoctions cooked up at the seers hut in the settlement Asgard particularly looks completely idyllic, and as the name and marketing suggest, Eivor has a real interest in dying honorably and going to the great hall of Valhalla (located in Asgard), which he's now witnessing in his drug induced visitations to the afterlife I think this has an interesting connection to the actual historical Assassin order that AC is based off There's a lot of speculation about why the Assassins were so willing to commit suicidal attacks, they'd often be cut down as soon as they got their target (something that apparently happened before the days of Altair in canon, according to Belec) One popular (though admittedly questionably accurate) theory is that the Assassin recruits were drugged and convinced they were in paradise, only to wake up later and be told they could only return to that blissful state if they killed for the order (This is also possibly the origin of the word Assassin, derived from Hashashin, or "user of hashish", but again how accurate that is is up for debate) Tldr: Eivor travelling to Asgard is actually pretty authentic Assassin behavior, he's taking drugs to go to the afterlife and being convinced he needs to die a warrior in order to go back there, just like the real Assassins (maybe) [link] [comments]
Going to pre-order Valhalla today, where to do it from? Posted: 14 Oct 2020 12:26 AM PDT Never done it before and I'm not sure where to do it from, the site or the u play client? [link] [comments]
It annoys me how every valhalla gameplay is bad Posted: 13 Oct 2020 02:53 AM PDT Not because the graphics, or the mechanics, or the new(ish) combat system. But because of how bad the players are. They don't time anything, they don't lock on to people or know the basics. It just makes the game look bad, most people absolutely suck at playing the game. I have seem a few videos where it looks great because people just understand it, but most of them are just running in circles waiting for an enemy to finish attacking....... Edit: and no. Its not because it is through streaming. Xcloud is streaming and nobody plays awful using that. *** it seems as though a lot of people are getting offended by the fact I said people playing bad reflects on the game poorly. Sorry if this offends you, maybe stop being such a pussy. [link] [comments]
So i've justed started a fanfiction that might interest some of you Posted: 14 Oct 2020 12:12 AM PDT Here is the link : https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13719793/1/Those-who-bear-the-mark The premise is the following : Nerissa de' Pazzi deeply admired Ezio, mostly from afar, despite being Vieri's cousin, but when the Auditore started his crusade, her immediate family, unaware of the plot and not part of the Templars like some of her relatives, was wrongly considered by some to have played a part in the conspiracy against the Medici and became the target of violent reprisals. While Ezio himself did not target her family, the Assassin was too focused on his vendetta to fully measure the collateral damage around him, and after the ordeal, a strange mark appeared on her palm. These troubling events will lead her to not just become aware of the existence of the two orders but also to slowly uncover the long history of corruption and dangerous secrets that lay at the heart of this ancestral war…. Why I think the story might interest you/why should you read it : Well because in the words of Maxwell Roth "Why Not? Hahahaha" Lol no seriously first, It's quite a long story (around 50 chaps or so) and I've already outlined every chapter and every plot point in great detail, so Ihave already decided the end of the story, I just need to actually write the actual remaining chapters in readable form. A major aspect of the story is that Nerissa is analyzing and reflecting on BOTH organizations (Templars and Assassins) in interesting ways and deciding for herself what she thinks is right. Her personal tragedy does not immediately push her towards one side at all unlike some of the previous games in AC (it will make sense when you read). Most of the story is from her perspective but Ezio still obviously plays a pivotal part in the overall narrative and certain major chapters will take place from his perspective as well so no worries there. Since the villains tend to be a big criticism against AC2 I made sure that the most important villains in the story have interesting backstories and motives and even reworked some of existing ones from AC2 as well although since not everyone can be complex, there will be a few generic ones in this story' can't really avoid them. And about the mark ? Well you're gonna have to read it to find out :) Also there's NO heavy sexual content in this by the way . And I really hesitated before addressing this but in case if you hadn't noticed (lol), Nerissa is a female character and with the current climate in the AC community regarding these topics, I would really dislike it if someone who would be interested in reading this story would use it as a way make disparaging or insulting comments about WOMEN OR MEN in the current context, as in the kind that add nothing but toxicity. The story is what drew me to AC in the first place and I decided to write this because the OVERALL CHARACTER potential of Nerissa was immense in my opinion and there was a ton of untapped potential in the world of AC2, not specifically because of gender at all, as I always considered the story to be one of the most important aspects of AC and telling a good story first, REGARDLESS of the type of character (historical background, origin, gender…), is what I think the developers should primarily focus on and I still stand by that to this day even though I expect a relatively sizable portion to disagree. We can all have respectful opinions about these things even if we do not see eye to eye. So anyway if you read the chapters, I'd love for you to leave a review on this post here on reddit. I'd love to see what the sub thinks. Chapter 1 will probably be shorter than the following though. Thanks! :) [link] [comments]
