Ezio bracers from AC: Revelations I made - Cyperian Workshop

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 01:08 PM PDT

(UPDATE 2) Echoes of Assassin's Creed Valhalla in Rogue and how a certain element of Nordic mythology could be used and developed in Valhalla - stronger tie-in with Rogue and, probably, with AC1 and Masyaf (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 06:50 AM PDT

Recently I've been contacted in Twitter about my theory which you can read here (if you haven't yet, check it out!), and I also provided an update with connection to Assassin's Creed Origins - read it here.

I was provided with a very curious piece of information that is mindblowing and, if being used in Valhalla, could be groundbreaking literally and figuratively and give an unexpected context to the Valhalla story.

In the comments of my OG theory post I said that in England there were no earthquakes in 9th century, at least those which are known in the history. But what if we go outside of England? Particularly, to Syria?

Darby McDevitt said that, one, story will unfold in several years, and two, although Eivor's brother Sigurd met Hidden Ones in Constantinople, Basim wasn't from there. We already saw Hidden Ones in the story trailer, and their robes are similar to Masyaf ones.

    https://preview.redd.it/nyazg458lhq51.png?width=1527&format=png&auto=webp&s=320d0e8a90ff7687d1208b65a07912d00b800145

So what happened in Syria in 881, eight years after the start of Valhalla story?

The 881 Acre earthquake took place in the vicinity of Acre in 881 (Hijri year 268). Alexandria was reportedly affected by the same earthquake.

According to the geophysicist August Heinrich Sieberg (1875–1945), the earthquake caused a seismic sea wave (tsunami). The tsunami affected mainly the city of Acre (Acca) and its vicinity, where it caused much damage. Sieberg's main source on the subject was the geologist Bailey Willis (1857–1949), who in turn cited the physician Joseph Désiré Tholozan (1820–1897) as his source on the historical earthquake.

Tholozan's account estimates the earthquake to have taken place in either 881 or 882. Except Acca, other areas affected by seismic waves were reportedlyt the coast of Alexandria, and the coasts of the Syria region. The narrative also mentions that the earthquake causes similar waves in the river Nile.

Tholozan's account is nearly identical to the description of the 1303 Crete earthquake (Hijri year 702), which also affected Alexandria. The journal Annals of Geophysics has raised doubts on the historicity of this earthquake, suggesting that Tholozan had misdated the events depicted in the narrative.

If it's a coincidence, I think it's very ridiculous one. Now I'm stepping on the speculation path.

What if the information Eivor and Hidden Ones being found in England will force them to go in Syria (imagine if Basim was actually born in Acre!), and we'll see the areas from AC1 in a "sandbox", just like Rome in AC Origins? Which leads to discover of another Precursor site? And then either Hidden Ones cause the same thing happened in Rogue, or this time they'll try to stop Ancients from doing so? Like, uno reverse card with Rogue?

And seeing the consequences, Hidden Ones decide to relocate to Masyaf and get involved in building the castle? Because, even though Assassins, according to the real history, captured it in 1141, there's one detail about it...

The most famous of the Syrian castles, Masyaf, or Masyad, has a long history going back to the early Byzantine period, which is demonstrated by its architecture. It is situated about 40 kilometres to the west of Hamat in Syria and it subsequently became the usual headquarters of the chief da'i of the Syrian Nizaris*. It stands on a platform about 20 metres above the surrounding plane guarding the approach to other Ismaili castles in the Jabal Ansariya - source

Or, instead of Masyaf, we'll see Alamut, because its castle has significant meaning for Order of Assassins?

The Alamut castle was built by the Justanid ruler of Daylam, Wahsūdān ibn Marzubān, a follower of Zaydi Shi'ism, around 865 AD. During a hunting trip, he witnessed a soaring eagle perch down high on a rock. Realizing the tactical advantage of this location, he chose the site for the construction of a fortress, which was called Aluh āmū[kh]t (اله آموت) by the natives, likely meaning "Eagle's Teaching" or "Nest of Punishment". The abjad numerical value of this word is 483, which is the date of the castle's capture by Hassan-i Sabbah (483 AH = 1090/91 AD). Alamut remained under Justanid control until the arrival of the Isma'ili chief da'i (missionary) Hasan-i Sabbah to the castle in 1090 AD, marking the start of the Alamut period in Nizari Isma'ili history.

And purely joking: if we'll actually witness the building of Masyaf Castle, I want to have this moment with this song.

I completed Assassin’s Creed Odyssey last night and it was fun game to play. (Spoilers)

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 06:56 AM PDT

    Completed Odyssey (some spoilers)

Ok so I wrapped up the final bits of Odyssey last night. Let me just say that I loved it. The story was good, the depth was unparalleled for an AC games and, just it genuinely was a fun game to play.

Of the three biggest stories (Deimos, Cult, Atlantis) I think they were all really, really good. I was able to save Deimos and at the end my only complaint was that the story ended with them eat dinner and making fun of Alexios. I was hoping for Kassandra to be more conflicted or maybe join up with Alexios then just being able to join him on the boat. That was a bit weak.

Wrapping up the cult was fun because I didn't use and walkthroughs so finding out that Aspasia was the final cultist was a real surprise. I had convinced myself it was Socrates playing both sides. I also loved how they showed previous games going through the franchise showing how it was all connected. I found that really really cool.

The Atlantis bit was fun too, fighting off the mythical creatures. I had a hell of a time with the Minotaur but Medusa and Cyclops were rather easy. I know that Atlantis was the DLC but still playing in modern day, going through the tombs and arguing with the team just be like ok Dr. I'll wait was a little weird.

At the end of the day, a game can be many things, deep, detailed world, easy or hard, story rich, or lacking many of those things. But it has to be fun, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a fun game to play.

Just found this article about Grand Theft Auto Rip-offs and my mind was boggled when I saw Assassin's creed on the list. Like seriously ?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:45 AM PDT

What are some subtle jokes that are slipped in to the dialogue like "It's me! Mario!" in AC2 or "Don't try it! I have the higher ground!" in AC Origins: The Hidden Ones?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 01:00 PM PDT

Along with those two, I also remember "Make Athens Great Again!" in Odyssey as well as "We like to provide a sense of pride and accomplishment" in the same game. What other lines like that do you remember from the series?

Ac syndicate why does Jacob do basically every assassination

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 12:28 PM PDT

They have Evie with way more stealth skills but it feels like I've been forced to be Jacob for nearly every assassination, I'm sure I'm not the first to complain but it's very annoying

Is there an actual reason the assassins creed odyssey faces and lip syncing is so bad?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 09:45 PM PDT

I genuinely don't understand it, even in important story cutscenes and trailers the mouth does not at all line up with what is being said, the mouth shapes are off and its out of sync, and what makes even less sense is that all of these scenes are mocapped, you can watch behind the scenes and they have cameras and lights on their face to capture expressions and mouthing but its like they just threw it away and just flapped their lips about in animation and called it a day, its much worse than games that have come out several years before it, and even games that are bigger and have more content.. has a reason ever been given for it?

Has anyone noticed that Eivor and the Viking crew he has with him are always wearing blue. I wonder if that's something we can choose or change; or maybe it's just so we can tell who's who in battle. Anyone know anything about this?

How do you think a game in Elizabethan England would go?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:46 PM PDT

Spanish Armarda sounds like the perfect set piece for AC. Although I don't think we will get it now that both Valhalla and Syndicate were in England. What do you guys think, is it a good idea?

if the old protagonists had bird companions, what would they be?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 11:02 AM PDT

This isn't taking lore or anything into account, it's just for fun. I've been thinking, since we're now approaching 3 characters with Eagle Eye companions, had this tool been available to implement in early AC games, what would the protagonists have had? I have a few thoughts, some of which I'm sure are pretty trite lmao but here's my ideas (some blank, because I either don't know the character well enough or couldn't think of anything.) I'm basing these primarily on aesthetics + locations, as I'm not an avian expert. Sorry if someone has done this before!

(Yeah I'm kind of editing this as I go)

    Altaïr - a Eurasian sparrowhawk ty u/throwawayseatbelt2

Ezio - as much as I'd love to joke about an albatross or a flamingo, I think the greater spotted eagle or the tawny eagle fit the bill.

Connor - this one feels super easy but... probably a bald eagle? That feels like the obvious answer. My alternative is the peregrine falcon.

    Aveline - harpy eagle.

Edward - Jackdaw! I'm a clown. The jackdaw. Thank you u/WhiteWolfWhispers.

Adéwalé - I'm inclined to say martial eagle. The area is decidedly wrong but it looks striking.

Shay - I'm stumped. I don't think Ireland really has eagles? Correct me if I'm wrong. And the eagle/corvid thing doesn't feel right for Shay anyway. Maybe some sort of owl?

Arno - A falcon! You learn something new every day. Thank you u/Hello83433!

Shao - a baza? I haven't completed the Chronicles games, so... bear with me here lmao

Jacob & Evie - Rook for Jacob for sure. That's a gimme. I'd say for Evie too, but I could also see her with some other type of corvid. Like a hooded crow.

Arbaaz - Changeable hawk-eagle, possibly? Again, I haven't finished the Chronicles. Help appreciated.

Nikolai - the Pallas's fish eagle feels about right.

And I think that's it! I'd love to do stuff like this for background characters (Henry, Malik, Achilles, etc) but this was a lot of work and I'm not even 100% sure that I'm satisfied with it. Please feel free to agree or disagree with some of these! And if you're an expert on birds, feel free to correct me on any of this stuff. Thanks to y'all who read this far!!

One thing I really liked Assassin's Creed Syndicate that I want to see in future AC Games - Consequences for Actions

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 02:24 PM PDT

There was a post here recently that complained about Jacob doing all the assassinations, and while I would agree that that is a valid complaint, I would argue that Evie ended up having the more interesting missions by way of dealing with the consequences.

Following the Ezio Trilogy, Ubisoft made a conscious effort to make the Assassin/Templar conflict more grey, and they usually did this through depicting the Templars as having noble goals or not being pure evil- Haytham, Torres, and Germain were great examples of this.

In Syndicate, though, they went with a different take. Starrick is portrayed as more of a heartless industrialist, but it's clear the empire he's built can't just be taken apart by brute force as doing so will lead to consequences.

I liked that Evie was shown to be dealing with that. I won't list them b/c of spoilers, but you know what I'm talking about if you played the game.

I haven't played Origins or Odyssey yet so I can't say whether those games featured similar aftereffects, but I'm hoping Valhalla and future entries go back to that format by showing how assassinations can instigate a chain reaction that ends up hurting the brotherhood's plans.

Is there any mention of what Kassandra / Alexios was DOING for all of that time? [Odyssey Spoilers]

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 04:40 PM PDT

Of course, I'm referring to the ending of Odyssey in which Layla is confronted by either Alexios or Kassandra (canonically Kassandra, I know) with the Staff of Hermes. As the staff prolongs their life all the way to the modern day, that would put our hero at over 2,000 years old.

The Greek hero implies that they have not been down there for the entire time, by saying "I've come here to find you and put an end to what I started many centuries ago."

To me, this is an implication that they have been out there in the world doing any number of things. Is there any mention in the AC Canon of Odyssey's hero participating in any other Assassin's Brotherhood chapters, or meddling in world events in any way? Seems like having a literal Demi-God around to defend the Greek isles during WWII would've been helpful at least.

If there is no mention of anything like that, what's your headcanon on it? Im an Alexios player, so it's pretty funny to think of him running around with a gun or living through the centuries, watching the evolution of man, and more specifically the brotherhood as a whole, from afar. Would be super trippy if they included Kassandra (or a trace of her, the canonical protagonist) in Valhalla. Maybe some lost journals or something.

    What're your thoughts?

[Access The Animus] Assassin's Creed Valhalla - Story Trailer Analysis

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:47 AM PDT

[ACIII] Why is Connor so disrespectful to Achilles?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 12:18 PM PDT

For context, I have finished all the homestead missions involving Achilles and their interactive conversations. Four times along with the game.

And I still don't understand the attitude Connor gives his mentor. Two scenes stand out for me, one when he gets angry at Achilles for not letting him go after Haytham in Boston. One when he goes as far as challenging Achilles to a fight. It is just bad and out of place.

Even when we assume that Achilles is sarcastic, doubtful, always discourages Connor (how bad could it be? Not that bad as shown in the game in my opinion), I still don't think he deserves this kind of attitude. They're supposed to have a father-son like relationship (according to many AC3 fans), but when I trace back Connor is usually just angry at Achilles or acting bland.

Will the game ever return to its core?

    Posted: 02 Oct 2020 12:04 AM PDT

I won't call myself a gamer necessarily but I have been a massive fan of the AC series. I was only able to play these games during my holidays from boarding school so most of the times I would 3-4 months late to the game. Origins was the first game which I was able to play just after it's release. The trailer had me buzzing and I was all for the ancient egypt setting. But the game turning out to be a complete RPG completely ruined my experience. I bought Odyssey in the hope that it might have more of the assassins - templars storyline, but it was even worse. I don't like the look of Valhalla too much, it just made me miss the old games. Will the game ever return to the original mechanics, will there be a return of the brotherhood, will the game play as an assassin game rather than this fantasy warfare story. Please, I need to know, should I have hope😔

Do you think we could ever see an ancestor of Desmond as an Animus protagonist again?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 02:59 PM PDT

I don't know much about Altaïr's ancestry (other than that his dad sacrificed himself). I got this completely random hypothesis that Basim could have something to do with Altaïr's lineage based on no evidence, other than AC lore seems to leaning into connectivity these days.

Then I got myself thinking, would the Assassin's want to start digging deeper into Desmond's genetic memories from ancestors further back? I imagine they must have "stolen" Desmond's files from Abstergo at some point (such as when they broke into their servers after Rogue and before Unity to get Arno's memories).

Does anyone feel bothered by the repetition once you've tried to at least do a bunch of missions in one of the games?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2020 07:53 PM PDT

I enjoyed playing ac2 and wanted to just roam and do stuff. I ended to dippings hours into it trying out all sorts of things. I had alot of fun but the rest of the Desmond series just felt bland. like its a continuation of the repeated actions of ac2.

ac4 I did the same I just explored sang songs, killed people and just sailed around mindlessly being a pirate for hours. now I cant play the next few games cause it just feels so repeated.

im taking a break and playing watch dogs and hitman. its that mindless exploration that I find entertaining where you truely just get into the character instead of just rushing down the main missions.
