The new truly next gen assassins creed

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:22 PM PDT

Ac Valhalla is basically equivalent to Black flag. While it will look phenomenal on the new consoles, it will still run the similar engines as origins and odyssey and also support previous gen console.

I'm particularly looking forward to the next entry. And gosh do I hope it'll be in slightly more modern time with tall buildings to climb again.

The saddest moment in ac history

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:07 PM PDT

So I'm replaying ac 4, and decided to get full synchronization on each mission and during the mission in the Jamaican jail I passed by a few British soldiers who were having a conversation about a pirate named bonnet who was hanged at the gallows while crying and squealing the whole time the whole time. I kid you not I straight up got teary eyed, I mean bonnet was such a cool dude with such an innocent soul, it sad to hear the bloke went out that way.

Do weapons change appearance as you upgrade them in Valhalla?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:36 AM PDT

I know that at some point in our settlement we get a blacksmith. I also know every weapon is unique. The one thing I'm not understanding that I thought I read was that you can upgrade weapons and armor at the blacksmith and they can appearance to become more ornate. Anyone know if this is true?

Memories of opportunities now lost to the series

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:16 AM PDT

I've been working my way through the Assassin's Creed series by date of release and am now playing through the Ezio Collection (just starting Brotherhood). As I play through the first real world sequence, where Desmond and Lucy are in the caverns under Monterrigioni, I remember how I felt when originally playing these first few games. I remember how, as this "trilogy" progressed, we saw more and more of Desmond between the Animus sequences, and played him in the "modern" world. By the time Revelations was released, I was convinced that the series was, to some degree, leading us to a full modern day game without the Animus (or at least, with the animus as a minor part) and Desmond as the main protagonist / player-character.

Obviously, with the end of Revelations, we know that didn't happen. I'm curious if I'm the only one who had expected Desmond to get his own game. Did anyone else think this? What expectations or theories did you have for the series that never came to fruition? Or did your expectations / theories happen?

Will Ragnarok be a DLC in AC Valhalla?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:59 PM PDT

It would be awesome to defend Asgard and meet the Norse gods, especially considering the entire purpose of Valhalla in Norse mythology is for Odin to procure warriors to help fight in Ragnarok (and there is precedent for a DLC like this after we got to meet the Greek gods in Odyssey). We might even get Thor's hammer, Mjölnir, or Odin's spear, Gungnir, as a special (overpowered) reward, or they could be artifacts of Eden. They could even use the opportunity to make Gungnir a "twin spear" to the Spear of Leonidas, perhaps made in the same forge by the same smiths, with a special prophecy about reuniting them and actually making Layla relevant. Also, considering Ragnarok is pretty much the most famous prophecy in Norse mythology, it would make a lot of sense for it to be implemented into the game.

Basically, this just makes too much sense not to happen, and could turn out very, very well.

[Spoilers] I finished my first play through of Rogue

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:32 PM PDT

And it was a great game! The ending especially! While I don't know much about Ac Unity, I know a little and that ending sets it up perfectly!

Thank god I bought Unity when it was on sale! I'm excited to play that one next.

Could we expect “straightforward” 4K60 patches for Origins & Odyssey on PS5 & XSX?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:23 PM PDT

Pretty much the title. Maybe I'm being too hopeful but mmmaybe it wouldn't be too large of a task from a build, test and deploy perspective?

"Are You Not Entertained?!" - A mock-up made for an AC set in Ancient Rome.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:47 AM PDT

What do you think will be the "thing" in the newest iteration of the AC games

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:25 AM PDT

This is just my impression of past games' "thing"

We had Brotherhood introduce the recruit system

AC3 introduced naval and Arkham style combat

AC Unity had crazy graphics and coop

AC Origins was the refocus on equipment/RPG elements

AC Odyssey brought in dialogue options and battles

edit: forgot AC Valhalla has raids and I am sure other things we don't know yet

What do you think the next "thing" will be?

Ubisoft must be planning a big "look at the true next-gen Assassin's Creed" like they did with Unity.

I think it'll be a focus on cover systems and a more modern setting, maybe 19th century. Who knows what the setting will be.

What do you think it'll be?

I think eivor will be the first assassin and first human to fully master eagle vision and because of this will name it.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 09:51 AM PDT

Most cultures and mythologies give some emphasis on eagles but the norse were the ones who commonly associated the eagle with sight or vision. We're told eivor will use "Odin vision" but that's just at the start, I'm sure other assassins have used some very simplified form of eagle vision, hell bayek probably had it involved with senu, eivor will master his odin sight and because it at that point will be much more advanced than just a simple pulse he'll give it a new name, eagle vision thanks to the nords emphasis on eagles and vision. This will be his big contribution to the creed mastering eagle vision and setting it up to be taught to future assassins.

I've been thinking about the parkour in both Unity and Syndicate

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:19 PM PDT

After playing both Unity and Syndicate, and experiencing the parkour in both games, I noticed something I want to run by you guys. Note I'm not talking about the rope launcher at all, just the parkour by itself.

Unity, at least for me and a lot of other people, is very floaty, like Arno basically just defies gravity and flies, going much to far with his jumps and also without weight or proper momentum. Plus he regularly falls or lands from heights that would have either killed you or taken off a lot of health in the other games, and here he doesn't even slow down.

Then with Syndicate, they dialed that back a lot, I know becuase in a Ubisoft video they pointed out that playtesters wanted the unity floaty issue fixed. But they went a bit too far, like for the most part the ability to just jump off a roof whenever you want is gone, and the twins feel, sticky, I guess that's the best word. Like hopping over a shoulder high wall is not as smooth or fast. FYI even though you technically can't freely jump off of roofs, I've died more then a few times due to me screwing up my jumps, whereas I've never lost any health using parkour in Unity. While I miss the smoother movements of Unity's parkour, I really don't like how it basically eliminated the possibility of getting hurt or the fact that you don't really have to plan your route to safely get across a gap, you can just sail across without any effort or risk. So now my question; which would you prefer, the unrealistic floaty and fully safe approach of Unity, or the sticky but still strategic and realistic Syndicate method? Again not taking into account the rope launcher.

Did anyone find Aspasia’s friend in Argolis?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:12 AM PDT

When you meet aspasia for the first time at the symposium, and after you tell her about hippokrates in argolis, she tells you if you see her friend X (cant remember the name, probably starts with the letter A) to say hello to her or something. Did anyone find that friend? Is she part of a side quest or something?

I just re-downloaded Origins, and I have two things to say.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:11 AM PDT

    1. The Bow Bearer ability which allows you to have two bows. After I deleted Origins a few weeks ago to make space, then re downloaded it last night, I went onto a save I had with the Hidden Ones DLC. Man was that the greatest decision I have ever made in AC. The game took away my second bow, and I only had one bow. Which is great because I regretted getting the Bow Bearer ability. Before, I would have my Bow of choice, and a warrior bow which is small and was the closest thing to no second bow showing. I don't know if my game glitched, but I'm not complaining since I'm happy.

    2. I'm going to be starting a NG+ soon. The last time I started one, everyone was 45-47. So should I just turn off level scaling, or just deal with it?

Was there ever a Assassin’s Creed CCG?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 04:49 PM PDT

Was there ever a AC CCG in development but later cancelled? I ask because I have the third edition of the AC Encyclopedia and it came with an Ezio card for a CCG that I can find no info whatsoever about online. It's like they were planning on making one and included a promo card for it in the encyclopedia and then cancelled their plans.

    Does Origins have dialogue options?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:23 PM PDT

Playing AC Origins for the first time, and I just finished the "Egypt's Medjay" quest in the main storyline, and haven't had the chance to choose my own dialogue. Does Origins have that feature, and I just need to progress farther in the main storyline, or is it even in the game at all?

Is it possible to do investigations after the assassination memory in AC1?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 07:53 PM PDT

Hi, I'm new to the sub but figured this would be the best place to ask. I'm playing through the original game and have gotten to memory block 4. In one area, I decided to only do the necessary amount of investigations before doing the assassination memory, but now it doesn't appear that I can complete the rest of them in the area. Is there a way to do the other investigations later on, or in an NG+ sort of manner? Thanks.

What mythical creatures do you wish you could fight in odyssey?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:12 AM PDT

I think it would have been more exciting if you knew what region (island, continent) the creatures were on but not their exact location in the game. Imagine heading into a cave during a quest only to come across a cyclops.

Anyway, some mythical creatures i wish we could fight are arachne, lamia, hydra, manticore and scylla.

[Spoilers] Recently finished Rogue and Syndicate for the first time. My thoughts on them.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:20 PM PDT

Please note that I also just finished Odyssey a few months ago so going back to older games was interesting. I started with rogue:

    • Graphics weren't terrible but they weren't amazing. Playable for sure but I can't complain as it is old.

    • Going from Odyssey's "climb literally anything" to "you can only climb this certain path" was fun because it reminded me of the days when I played the AC1-4 games. But it was also weird to get used to again but it is what it is. I'm thankful for that QOL upgrade in origins and Odyssey. Makes the game feel more interactive rather than a set template.

    • I'm not a fan of going around to collect chests, glitches, shanties, etc. At least origins and Odyssey had areas of objectives (e.g. A fort or small military camp) rather than making you go on a wild goose chase all over the place. I also felt no satisfaction getting any of the collectables. Didn't see a point. Maybe a small money boost but I never felt the need to try and get a ton of money. The only time I really needed money was to upgrade my ship for the last naval battle but that was easy to do. I needed more material resources than money though.

    • The whole story of rogue was literally lack of communication and ultimately a big miscommunication. Shay got pissed at the assassins because he assumed they purposely killed Innocents with the isu sites. Even Achilles said "what are you talking about" or something to that effect when Shay came barging into Davenport. I think Achilles had no idea what he was really talking about. This is furthered when Achilles said "Shay was right" after seeing the isu site himself. I felt like Shay got pissed way too quickly and didn't explain the situation. One thing led to another and now the assassins are the bad guys. I was hoping for something deeper with going "rogue" rather than a misunderstanding. To me this story was just a hot headed assassin going off to be a vigilante against his own brethren because he was too upset to express himself or listen.

    • I don't miss the naval fights. I like the addition of more weapons but naval fights were just ok to me.

    • The addition of the hunters was annoying because of how the whsipering got irritating. Its a cool idea but I wasn't a fan of the execution. Maybe have a heart beat instead?

    • I ran through rogue in a few hours. Very short game compared to the rest. Lots of side stuff but not necessarily interesting stuff. I didn't go hunting once. There was no incentive to do the large amount of side stuff. I felt no need to upgrade anything because everything was doable with the current equipment I had. Short of upgrading for the final naval battle, I'm not sure why there's a need to do anything aside from the main questline.

    • The rollercoaster track style of old assassin's Creed games was fun. I think it's a good way to keep people on track (no pun intended). The ezio trilogy is a good example of this. Odyssey and origins just felt overwhelming with how much stuff there is. I'd rather just play the game and have great story than have a bunch of boring stuff to do.

    • Is it safe to say that the modern day character joined the Templars? Do we know anything else about them after this game?

    • I wasn't able to find all the table documents in the modern world. I searched for all of them but I feel as if I'm missing something I was suppose to do. Was there additional content after the main story ended? I didn't see anything after they have a gun and ask the main character to join them.

    Thoughts on syndicate:

    • First thing is first: the grapple hook is amazing. This mechanic needs to be in every AC game. I had no idea this thing existed. It makes climbing and traveling so much better. Huge QOL upgrade. I highly recommend keeping this feature. I cannot tell u how many times I see a tall building and thought "Nevermind" because it was going to take too much time.

    • This game was the great mix of track style story telling and exploration. Not too big, not too small, not too forced into one spot. It was a perfect amount of everything.

    • I think every AC fan should play this game. Ive had it in my library for a while but I forgot about it. I'm glad I picked it up again.

    • The switching between the twins was a nice twist. I preferred Evie though because she was more of the typical assassin. Also she had a nice voice actor.

    • Evie with knives the Asian outfit was OP. She could one shot a lot of stuff without a head shot. The auto aim made battles super easy.

    • Pretty cool they referenced the shroud in Odyssey. Though I don't remember it being as strong as it was in syndicate. Although it was a small dlc quest so it wasn't really in-depth.

    • I didn't find the side character quests that fun ( Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, etc. ). Felt more like chores than fun.

    • The ending of act 8 was actually funny and the character for Maxwell Roth was an engaging character. However, I felt things went from 0-100 really quick. I guess that's just the nature of Roth though.

    • Modern day stuff wasn't even interesting. No engagement.

    • the progression system they implemented with side characters made it worth enough to actually farm their stuff. But in the end, it wasn't necessary because by the time I hit act 6/7 I was max level. This might have been due to the expansion pass adding an experience booster though.

    • I didn't do the WW1 or jack the ripper stuff. This isn't due to it not being interesting but I had just went through an AC spree and played 3 games through so I was a little burnt out.

    Thoughts?

How They can Bring Back Desmond

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 12:53 AM PDT

    So hear me out ..

Layla starts getting corrupted by the piece of Eden as shown in The Fate of Atlantis as she has no isu DNA. William Miles kills Layla before she turns evil and joins the templars or something.

William holds the staff and the Isu Alethia appears. William still in grief over his son's death asks her if there is way to bring him back. She says only if his conscious is still there in the Gray.

As we know from AC revelations , Subject 16 hugged Desmond and said that "I am saving you" so it would make sense that subject 16 transfered his own concious in Desmond's mind and when Desmond sacrificed himself, he actaully sacrificed Subject 16's conciousness and his conciousness is still in the gray.

    Hence we get Desmond back.

Or more simply, William Miles just kill Layla and then proceeds to find Desmond's son.
