Did The Colonial Brotherhood fail to calm Shay’s doubts

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 07:02 PM PDT

I just had a great time replaying Assassins Creed Rouge and during this Playthrough I was paying more attention to Colonial Brotherhood at the start of the game and I noticed Liam does terrible job calming shays doubts when he feels guilt for killing Washington brother, also Liam completely dismisses Shay when he ask the readable question of why can't they talk with the Templars, also shay makes point of hypocrisy of working with Slave Owning Kings while working with slaves, I also think Hope let shay down to lesser extent when she defends Achilles even though Lisbon was destroyed, and finally if Shay is having these questions then Achilles didn't do adequate job as mentor in addressing these concerns.

So what do all of you think

Wanted to parkour so I played Unity. The Paris murder stories are the funnest sidemissions AC ever had

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 12:48 AM PDT

I hate when side missions get repetitive. In Origins, I feel like it was the most fresh, since Bayek plays with kids, talks down another grieving person from suicide, it makes the world feel alive and it was one of my favorite takes, too bad it was a little sparse.

Now, Unity, holy shit I did nothing but look aroud for murder stories. It's a better 'investigation' minigame than Arkham and Horizon or games with that sort of side content. French people even got a headstart since there Marat's actual fucking murder in the game with the goddamn painter already working on the famous painting when you get there.

Hope they bring them back in the later games!

I guess video games are beneficial and help in school sometimes

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 10:56 AM PDT

So, I had a test on renaissance Italy and was able to basically skip 5 assignments and get an A on my test because i knew almost everything from playing assassins creed 2 and brotherhood. Guess some video games are helpful and don't hinder education. (I know the games aren't 100% accurate but it was mainly on leonardo da vinci's work, the popes and big family's such as the medicis and the borgia family)

Forget about an Assassin's Creed remake. Give us a direct sequel instead.

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 09:22 AM PDT

We already finished Altair's story, through Ezio in Revelations. I'd like to see a sequel that follows one of Altair's students through the same world.

The series has gotten so much better at delivering the open world experience. It's easy to forget that Assassin's Creed 1 gave us "The Kingdom", a full open world of the sort that AC didn't return to until AC3's "Frontier". I can only assume they abandoned it for a while because technology simply didn't allow them to flesh out the Kingdom as much as it deserved.

Now that we've seen the series take on entire countries like Greece or Egypt, I believe it's time to revisit the Levant. I want to see Damascus, Jerusalem, Acre, and the whole kingdom in between, built as seamlessly as they are able to do with current gen.

Not just the world though. The gameplay has improved so significantly with the last couple of games that I now feel the setting deserves better than Altair's step-kick-block-repetition. I've played that enough times and it hasn't aged well.

When I started playing Origins, it felt like a breath of fresh air, while simultaneously scratching an itch for the aesthetic of of the original game. That aesthetic was briefly revisited in Revelations, another high point for the series in terms of setting.Give us the new gameplay, and the old world built in the new style. But please, give us a new story while you're at it. A remake would never be as satisfying as we want it to be, but we can still go back to that world.

[Doubt] Will Valhalla support Cross-Savings from PS4 to PS5?

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 11:07 PM PDT

Hey guys, I don't know if someone has already asked this, so here we go.

Microsoft clearly stated it but Sony has been more silent about it.

Does anyone know if Valhalla will support Cross-Savings even on Sony Consoles?

    Thank you all.

I have never been able to figure out the double tool kill in Black Flag

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 08:32 PM PDT

Okay, seriously, this is infuriating. I've watched videos and read forums and everybody just vaguely says "kill a guy then press triangle." What? How is that helpful? I just shoot the next person. Please, can somebody explain this to me in a way that isn't vague and completely useless. What buttons do I press and when? Thank you.

My opinions on why I fu*king love AC Origins

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 06:54 AM PDT

I have played every AC game other than ezio triology (please dont attack me lol) and odyssey.

I loved the new take on unity (less bugs version cause I played it a lot later). Syndicate felt bland overall. Love the London city but the repetitive quests and weak weapon variety made it pale for me.

Now I recently started playing origins (don't mention spoilers in the comments if you can) and holy smokes it is goood. Everything from the outfits, the story, weapon variety, environment is awesome. Although parkour from unity and syndicate is missing but I understand it from the perspective that the Bayek is from a lot older era.

Just wanted to share my opinions.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations looks interesting without the 3D fog/dust

Assassin's Creed: Revelations looks interesting without the 3D fog/dust

Assassin's Creed Revelations looks sharper and something different without the 3D fog/dust. On Windows, go to "C:\Users\(your user)\Documents\Assassin's Creed Revelations" open ACRevelations.ini wich a common text editor and find the line "DisableSkydomeFog=0" change 0 to 1, save and play.

    Some comparisons:

    3D Fog on (default)

    3D Fog off

    3D Fog on (default)

    3D Fog off

    3D Fog on (default)

    3D Fog off

    3D Fog on (default)

    3D Fog off

Although it seems to make ACR sharper, disabling 3D fog/dust alters the original game settings, many people prefer to leave it on by default, I publish this post only as a curiosity.

AC Unity - Change language? Xbox One

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 09:25 PM PDT

Hey guys, don't know if this is the sub for this?

I got all Assassins Creed games a few weeks ago for my Xbox One S, through the Microsoft Store. I'm playing Unity now, and the voices are in Spanish. How can I change them to English? I've googled and all I find is "third option on the main menu" but.. there is no main menu? All I get is the chapters to choose, and the start button and the other one are to change profiles.

This is driving me insane, mind helping? Thank you

I just finished my first AC game!

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 10:56 AM PDT

It was Origins. I needed a new one player game with sequels, and I've always wanted to get into AC, so I bought them all. I tried to play the first one but I had an itch to roam around Egypt, and Greece. I watched the main story on YouTube about the end of the world, Desmond Miles, and the apple of eden, but i have a lot to learn. I have know idea what Unity, Syndicate, etc are about, or how they connect, but i really want to play them. Especially Black Flag, which seems to be the only one everybody likes. Im really liking the large open worlds. They look amazing, but the gameplay can be a little difficult. I find my self jumping places, or doing things I don't want my character to do. I'm playing Odyssey right now, which is awesome, but I dont like not having a hidden blade. Anyways thats my rant. Any opinions, questions, info, etc?

AC Odyssey Story is beyond boring :/

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 08:44 AM PDT

So I started playing ACO like a 10 days ago and I can say that fighting mechanics, talent trees and gearing is amazing I really love it ! On the other hand the story, the way Alex is talking, the dumb body mimics in conversations had me puke..

I kept playing just so I can finish and see if things are going to work out and for my mans to find his mother, real father, and pull sis outta dark side of the force.. but it never ends ! There are awlays some more of the same quests, over and over lol.. Literally just found his mother and hopes to have the game finale real soon.

Assassins Creed games are amazing, I always loved the story, but I hope they never ever get this kind of optimization on PC port and this dumb spanish soap camping story.. anyone with me ?

Why Liberation is my fav in the series

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 09:39 AM PDT

So I'm about finished with playing Liberation for the first time and have a pretty strong appreciation for it that I'd like to share (:

I enjoy it so much for

    1. The stealth! Main missions and side quests consistently ask you to assassinate someone without being detected. It makes for lots of sneaking around and feels like the assassination puzzles that 1st game did so well, but without the repetitive clue searching.

    2. The costumes are a good gimmick I thought it was kind of badass to blend in socially and made me feel a part of the world.

    3. The story doesn't waste your time It's not always smooth but it's simple, with few cutscenes and basically all played in the past

    4. Aveline rules I love her costume, weapons and even the hat. Her voice acting is great, and her place in the the games world as a woman of color passing in different classes of society is thought provoking and good hearted.

    5. Collectibles and side quests Alligator eggs, diary pages and treasure are fun little bits. Beating up ppl and force feeding them mushrooms is ridiculous so I loved it. And the assassination side quests I mentioned earlier are great.

I'm not trying to convince anyone its the best one but I hope others enjoy it a lot too. It really reminded me why I fell in love with these games back when the original came out.

Post launch of Valhalla, and my Ideas of Expansion pass.

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 11:11 AM PDT

So this is my take on how the DLC will play out, remember this is my take, not official Post launch content!

    1. Historical DLC: This DLC was inspired by another reddit user. So the DLC will take place in Frankia during the raids on Paris, the DLC will focus on the ark of the covenant, and how the french wanted to protect it at all costs. The Ark held the Apple of Eden, which was placed there in 30 B.C.E. by Bayek in Rome. The pope gave the Ark to the French King Charlemagne. The focus for Eivor and the Hidden Ones is to protect the Ark against the King of the West Franks, Charles the fat, who works with the Order of the Ancients. The DLC ends when Eivor and his Hidden Ones brothers send the Ark to the Temple of Jerusalem and he returns to King Alfred the Great to tell him of his successful voyage. The map will focus on Normandy and the Paris region. There will be a total of 5 targets, one being king charles.

    2. Mythological DLC: I am a historian, so I am going to go over this very briefly.

After the death of Charles the fat in 887, Eivor is met with a disturbing message from a female voice, Juno. She tells Eivor to travel to Norway and return to his home village. The village is burnt down by the king of norway, Eivor is destroyed by grief. He goes in a translucianol state, where he dreams of seeing his brothers in Valhalla. He must confront Surtur and the frost giants to avenge his fallen brothers, which werent allowed in Valhalla, cuz they died without glory. After this the ritual begins where the final boss battle begins with Loki and a corrupted Thor and Odin. The boss battle ends and Eivor awakes in his village being poked by children, he returns to England to speak with Alfred the Great.

Expansion pass full game: AC 1 Remastered/Remake: Seeing as Valhalla is so close in time periods to AC1 I would think the game would be next years remaster/remake.

Thanks for reading let me know what you think.

    Origins and Odyssey time span.

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 05:49 PM PDT

While playing both last Assassin's Creed games (Origins was a a blast and Odyssey whilst fun on its own right really trembles against Origins and the rest of the franchise IMO) and I couldn't avoid being bothered by a simple fact: There's apparently no way for the player to know exactly which year is it during their adventure.

Sure this is not such a big problem in Bayek case, as his adventure is far much more straightforward and being somewhat of a nerd in Ancient Egypt history I could mostly tell which year I was on depending on the context. Odyssey though? I just reccently discovered that the game spans 9 years. I could have sweared that the game spans no longer than five years of Alexsandra's life! I know that in retrospect it makes sense that so much time has passed once we factor the distances between cities, the time between missions and when the characters straight up say outloud how much time has passed between meetings. But it's just weird that I couldn't notice this massive passage of time, specially when previous games like the Ezio trilogy and the Kenway saga went out of their way to tell us which year we were playing on, to the point of giving such information in the DNA menu when replaying missions.

So, with all that out of the way, am I blind or is there truly no other way to tell which year we are in but to know the history of the moment?

Playing brotherhood for the first time

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 07:34 AM PDT

Ac 2 was my first ac many years ago and I fell in love with it. I jumped back in on 3 and played everyone after but I skipped brotherhood and revelations. I just picked them up on sale and damn I am absolutely loving brotherhood, it's so nice to go back to my start and continue the story. The mechanics are amazing for such an old game. I can easily see their rpg formula in this game. Right after playing odyssey the two feel similar in spirt, with the weapon/armor upgrades, side quests, open city concept and horse "free roam"it really feels like an old school rpg, brotherhood just has more passion/care when I came to the story than odyssey, and feels more like the modern games than others after it. Obviously there's a lot different but playing brotherhood I'm not surprised they ended up where they are now

Tips for naval combat - specifically PINOS ISLE

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 11:29 AM PDT

Hi. My first post got taken down. Anyway... I've recently been playing Black Flag. I've noticed that upgrading the hull takes a lot of metal, and there are places I need to go which are guarded by high level ships. For example, I need to go to Pinos Isle, for the last Templar Key quest, but it's guarded by ships with extremely high health...and there's absolutely no room to manoeuvre. Also, I've noticed that the Jackdaw takes a lot of damage from the forts. I'm currently in Sequence 6, right after buying the diving bell. Could someone please give me a few tips to make my naval combat experience a little better?

[Spoilers] Why is there a frequent inconsistency between CGI design and in-game design? CGI character portrayal is always spectacular. Why does the in-game result often come short?

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 04:28 PM PDT

This excludes Odyssey, for there was no CGI trailer available.

    From recent to old:

ORIGINS: Mostly satisfactorily consistent with the robes, the armour (chest plate and bracers), the skin tone, and the weapons nearly identical to the in-game result, should the player choose to equip them (the skin tone cannot be unequipped).

Inconsistency 1: Bayek's CGI facial features are clearly different from those we're used to in the game.In CGI his face appears more handsome than his (still lovable) in-game counterpart with a slimmer, narrower jaw.

Inconsistency 2: CGI Bayek launches his attack with a bow and shield combo, which ensures effective long-range lethality and damage while maintaining reliable defence. This combination is impossible in-game where Bayek must be holding his weapon in order to use his shield. His bow attacks may not be protected simultaneously with his shield. [unfortunately]

Inconsistency 3: CGI Bayek shows off his signature (marketing) long-range weapon, Amenhotep's Bow (legendary predator bow). While it is (fortunately) available in-game, its procurement is unreliable and completely at random. One might accidentally acquire it early-on from a lucky loot or may never come across it until they happen to see it in the Assassins' Bureau Store. Even then it is offered at random.

Inconsistency 4: CGI Bayek lost grip of his shield during the fight which is impossible in gameplay.

Inconsistency 5: During another CGI trailer, the Medjay Shield is showcased briefly in the middle of the video where its full beauty is highlighted when shone by the desert sun. In-game the Medjay Shield is covered in unremovable leather straps and ropes, making it unappealing (despite often shone by the desert sun).

[Severe] Inconsistency 6: CGI Bayek intercepts the arrival of a Member of the Ancients by ambushing his convoy at the gates of Memphis, cleverly blending with the sweeping sand storm.In-game no such trap takes place which ultimately deems the trailer non-canon.

~I have not completed Syndicate and Unity yet.~

BLACK FLAG: More consistent than not with the robes appearing the same at a first glance; the leather armour, weapons, firearms, and holsters translating well into the game.

Inconsistency 1: CGI Edward's face is considerably more respectable, fiercer, calmer, and more handsome than that of in-game Edward's whose face looks rough and worn; his too frequent laughs and smiles, anger tempests and complaints giving him a childish likeability and a typical sense of immaturity—qualities which are impossible to discern in the CGI trailers.

Inconsistency 2: CGI Edward's hairstyle is casually loose and unconstrained, instilling a sense of freedom and frivolity. Whereas Edward's hair in-game is tied in a cheap pony tail from beginning to end, more befitting for a weed-smoker than a pirate.

There are more but they are so particular that they aren't worth it and I am getting tired of myself.

AC III: Impeccable consistency between CGI outfit and in-game robes. The same goes for gear: weapons, holsters, breeches, etc. However, an unforgivable inconsistency is allowed by Ubisoft between the level of expectation set upon by their trailer and the in-game delivery of the most marketed aspect of the game: the war itself.

[Severe] Inconsistency 1: In-game Connor never crossed a battlefield in the spectacular frontal manner that he did in the trailer to assassinate his target Templar. The closest in-game experience was a lazy cover-to-cover run through the trenches where the redcoats were shooting unrealistically too frequently. Upon that Connor climbed a cliff where he sneaked through the bushes behind a camp dotted with poorly protected tents, only to find and climb onto a conveniently lined tree pointing toward Connor's target, stationary on horseback. A shocking difference between the epic offensive and masterfully executed takedown in the CGI trailer and the sloppy, lenient, bland stab on horseback experienced by all players during gameplay.

Inconsistency 2: In-game Connor could never shoot an arrow mid-air as CGI Connor displayed.

Inconsistency 3: In-game Connor could never throw his tomahawk as CGI showed in another trailer.

As far as Ezio goes, much could be discussed but I shall only complain about the following two from Brotherhood:

Inconsistency 1: In-game Ezio and his assassins never launched the legendary public attack on Cesare Borgia and the Pope in front of the Pantheon and a hundred flustered cardinals as they did in that unforgettable CGI trailer. Hashtag-expectations-reality, which AC fans are well-familiar with.

Inconsistency 2: In-game Ezio never procured two identical bracers as was clearly presented in all marketing imaginable. Two... identical... bracers... was it really that difficult, Ubisoft?

    The end.

Is it possible to advance AC Odyssey's story without grinding?

    Posted: 23 Sep 2020 03:22 PM PDT

I stopped playing AC Odyssey after a while because I hated how it forced you to do side quests and grindy stuff between pretty much every story mission. Each time I'd start getting really engaged with the story it would cut me off and force me to raid a bunch of people, participate in the large scale battles, and do all sorts of random sidequests until I'm totally disengaged with the story again. I play the story mission and the cycle repeats.

I'm curious to dive back in but I really hate the pacing. Is there any way to avoid the interruptions and just play the story more-or-less straight through while only doing a few sidequests and such here and there by choice and not as a requirement?
