Details missing from supposedly 'RPG' Origins and Odyssey

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:05 AM PDT

One of the biggest complaints of Odyssey and to some extent Origins is the dead worlds with little to do and repetitive gameplay and moving away from traditional Assassins creed. One thing i noticed while playing the Historical Tours section of both games was how much more i enjoyed the open world when i was able to sit at seats, make a clay pot, process wages, sit down and eat a bowl of soup or simply sleep. If the games are now being marketed as RPG then why aren't these actions part of the main gameplay. Why can't i walk into Athens, grab a drink and some food at a taverna then disguise myself as a potter and jump out at a victim for an assassination? Why cant i walk into Sparta in the evening and have to sleep in one of the dorms until the a mission starts in the morning? All of this would have added so much more to a RPG than holding a button to bring on dawn and dusk and would have brought more life to these places.

Technically, if you experience tetris syndrome but with Assassin's Creed, you are experiencing a real life Bleeding effect.

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 12:22 PM PDT

The Tetris effect (also known as Tetris syndrome) occurs when people devote so much time and attention to an activity that it begins to pattern their thoughts, mental images, and dreams. It takes its name from the video game Tetris.

Assassin's Creed: Feudal Japan (Edo Period )

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 07:08 PM PDT

Assassin's Creed: Feudal Japan (Edo Period )

Another pitch, set within my fanmade continuity. This can be perfectly read as a standalone story, but the modern day plot will be semi-structured to connect to previous pitches of mine. First, the historical narrative. If you want MD too, it's after the historical narrative. Enjoy

    ASSASSIN'S CREED: DISHONOR

PROLOGUE - THE CONFLICTED SAMURAI: This section will eventually culminate in the conquest of power by Tokugawa Ieyasu, in 1600. Before that, context and some missions that span a few years. The protagonist is Haruto Tanaka.

In this initial Act, Tanaka is presented as a young samurai, having gained such honor by climbing the social order, like Yasu did, both men that have experienced what it's like to be a peasant and poor. That linked them in a way. Just before the Edo period, it was much easier for a peasant to become one, before the brand new social order in a much more controlled Japan by the Shogunate.

Haturo Tanaka, a Samurai that was concerned for the upcoming stability, or lack of, of Japan

In lore, Ieyasu (Yasu) is supposedly allied with Assassin interests. In real life, he was a far more cunning character, so, considering the lore kinda stops at the end of the century, let's play with that.

Yasu was Hideyoshi's right hand man, but, in lore, he tasked Assassins and Ninjas with many missions to defeat Templar influence and oppression in the nation.

Here comes Tanaka, not yet an Assassin, but a Samurai reluctantly agreeing to help Yasu and the assassins.

Tanaka is sent on a few missions with this goal, to decrease templar and imperial influence throghout the initial area in order for the current ruler's son to take over a Japan not only of military peace but also devoid of the potential unrest that had caused over 100 years of civil war, which the current leader had ended.

    https://preview.redd.it/6paic84uwdo51.jpg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c9d22abac3fa609c0076097f3e9bfe746394e36a

But Tanaka would soon find he had been betrayed, as every mission asked by Yasu was nothing more than a masterful plan by Yasu, deceiving then rogue Samurai and Assassins, convincing the first to put aside their honor to fight for a better Japan, molded by his vision.

Every mission's noble goal now revealed to be nothing more than a ploy to gain the support Yasu needed for such battle to gain power and become the Ruler of Japan.

In this bloody battle Tanaka would fight and fail to impede Yasu, with the now leader promising to erase the Assassins from Japan..

Ahead of Tanaka was a journey to recover his honor, and a journey of possible reconciliation with the Assassins, for he too blaimed them for trusting Yasu.

The open world would be region based to allow for variety in biomes and a better sense of scale. Different from Tsushima as this would be much bigger and have more urban areas. The time period is also mucch different, closer to 400 years later.

ACT 1 - THE RONIN WANDERER OF THE RISING SUN: ACT 1, after the battle, would be about Yasu consolidating power. He set his Shogunate in Edo, modern day Tokyo. And peace would soon follow, but one marked by Yasu's iron fist.

Meanwhile, Tanaka is a man considering Seppukku for all he did and the dishonor he brought upon his own morality.

He stands upon a cliff, sword in his hand, ready to perform Sepukku and he does so, falling over it. Yet, he wakes up, bloodied but taken care of by a woman, Yua, nurturing him back to life.

She knows he is Samurai, viewing his armor, and to his shock and anger for having survived his attempt to reclaim honor, she tells him why should he lose his life for something so illusory as a legal code, ordained by men who know nothing of the Next World, ordained by men who'd rather forfeit their possibility to reclaim honor by fixing their mistakes, instead ending their lives forever.

    Yua

Sounding like sacrilege, Yua's words would nonetheless strike meaning for Tanaka, as he was not as rigid, code wise, as he appeared to be. After all he had betrayed it, to work for Yasu and help him. But we know how that ended up.

The initial sparring of words would soon turn into a great friendship as Yua would become a very dear person to Tanaka. She reveals herself to be an Assassin and asks him to join their brotherhood.

Due to his previous experience with them, he still blames them for having trusted Yasu, as he blames himself. But while his own guilt was heavy, he still blamed all else more.

This was a more comforting duality if he were to continue fighting. Which he wanted to. But more to keep moving, than actual strenght.

He becomes a Ronin, a rogue Samurai, slave to no feudal Master, dedicating his time to fulfill Yua's words. To fight in life to regain honor, eroding Yasu's power and trying to weaken his imperial rule.

Now, the gameplay loop returns, with each target, Feudal Masters that enforced Yasu's rule, representing an aspect of Feudal Japan's national identity corrupted by Yasu's strict dictatorial rule.

Samurais now controlled by Yasu, former friends of Tanaka, would be his enemies during the game as well, forcing him to fight his former brothers..

His proof of alliegence to Assassin goals eventually lead him to a temple, protected by the Assassins, containing Isu technology and the recording of an Isu. Proof that they now trust him. Did he trust them tho?

But the message could not be understood to Tanaka, a message speaking of a woman named Sara Miller and a man named Kyoshi and Tanaka being the link to the past and their future. That time was an illusion for his timeline was like a broken disc. To fix it, he'd need to find the POEden for the Temple.

ACT 2 - THE ABYSS OF THE NINJA ASSASSIN: But Yasu would nonetheless achieve his power and consolidate his de facto power with an official mandate.

Claiming to be a man of the people, he continues to be perceived as a master of manipulating of sorts, but one that fuflfilled his promise of a more stable Japan, one with more ridigidty, yes, but also economic improvement, all of it tightened by its firm handle of Daimyo and Samurai.

ACT 2 explores the more sociopathic nature that every warrior must display in order to be one, to handle the fact they kill so many people and to keep going.

    https://preview.redd.it/7xlu8u670eo51.png?width=630&format=png&auto=webp&s=84f290f765598080a825c85bdcdf072efef5b521

As a former Samurai, now Ronin, Tanaka would continue his quest into the abyss that was his lifestyle, held together by Yua, his grip on stability, helping him to stay on his path, no matter his inner desires to stray from it.

But as he angered the Yasu backed Feudal Lords and the templars backing him, he'd see an inversion of the dynamic.

In ACT 1 he was the hunter. In Act 2 he would be hunted, in another change of the gameplay loop, requiring new tactics, as his former Samurai friends (that he'd go on missions with in Act 1) would now be hunting him.

It was time to ask the Assassins for help and abandon the solitary road. It was time to Tanaka possibly become one, even. With the Assassins, he founds the other half of his stability, one he would have surely had ceased from were it not Yua's interference.

A dear friend she had turned herself into, to Tanaka. He puts old grudges aside and decides to work with them for the greater good, evoking flashbacks to when he did the same thing, but with different results, for the now Shogunate.

The mentor of the Japanese brotherhood as he speaks to Tanaka: What you feel is natural but also naturally an obstacule to the embrace of the Creed. Hate. Darkness. Maybe you'll go too far with that, maybe not, the point is that you hear this constant voice, a voice that sounds like reason as the most compelling obstacules are.Illusions.All

To take this step was more than just a leap of faith in confidence, but also one in trust and maturity. The abyss seemed far awat for Tanaka now, as the Act progresses. The Ronin had turned into a Ninja, fighting for the people, believing in more than just his own struggle. But the creed? Not yet, not 100%.

Until Yua is wounded by an animal one day while on a mission. Tanaka rushes to her rescue and kills the animal and takes her home where he takes care of her, fetching herbs and such.

The assassins ask him when he intends to return to duty but he claims all that matters now is her, effectivly placing priorites.

Tanaka as he argues with the Assassins about his priorities. This brotherhood was far more utilitarian than others, hence why they were so focused on their goal, sometimes too willing to sacrifice some people to achieve it. Neither side was perfect and Tanaka understood this. Hence why he never fully became a Samurai or Assassin at heart

She keeps getting worse and Tanaka, absent of any other moves, takes her to the Temple with the Isu construct, believing it to be a God, to ask for Its help. He goes there with her, close to collapse, as he begs and begs for her, crying as he does so. But the temple held no answer. His requests, amidst tears of sadness, unanswered. She collapses in his arm, as tears engulf her face, falling from his ocean eyes.

The temple was located near a tree of prophetic nature and appearance

Tanaka was now facing the Abyss again. Soon he learns of a possible window of opportunity to assassinate Yasu. Wanting to convey his rage in any way possible he decides to take it as he trains to become an Assassin, not because he believed in the Creed, further clinging to his own total perdition.

The former friend and mentor that had convinced Tanaka to forfeit his Samurai honors to help him, Yasu now is face to face with his student once more. He had trained the man that could defeat him..

Tsushima was set in the medieval era while this would be set in the Edo period and it would include Edo as the main city

But here, until now, either Tanaka's actions were in conformity with Yasu's desires or they managed to impact little, the political power he had. In most ACs its a slow but steady process of dismantling the Templar's operations. Here it was the other way around. Or rather, an innefective process at first..

Yasu leaves the room as Tanaka is ambushed by the some of the samurai hunting him, his former brorthers in arms. Tanaka reluctantly kills each and every one of them, having failed to kill Yasu.

But Tanaka learns something important. In possession of Yasu was a piece of Eden, that he'd learn was connected to the temple the Assassins protected.

ACT 3 - MESSAGE FOR THE FUTURE: The Assassins are now aware of the piece of Eden that Yasu has and his manipulation gift now makes more sense, or so it appears.

Regardless, it's now their job, and the now Ninja Assassin Tanaka, to pursue this piece of Eden, while continuining to dismantle his operations, hooping to finally make a dent in his machine of control. To do this, assassinations of more feudal masters had to come.

    Outfit

The tide seemed to be turning finally. This didn´t necessarly offer much relief for Tanaka as he felt only the death of Yasu would offer him some piece, allowing him to reclaim his honor, that he felt lost..

Yasu's Japan was, however, one of true stability. This translated a strange situation in which the Assassins lacked the popular support, as Yasu would claim this as a considerable victory, for he had, not love, but respect from the people, for they knew that Japan today was more secure than ever.

It seemed more and more it was the piece of Eden that gave him such convincing gifted speech, to allude men and women to fight for him. A man that time and time again had revealed he had no qualm to betray his former brothers.

Tanaka:\"In the end this is all I want. To walk away from this life of blood and sword and find some peace. But that seems like a forgotten concept in these troubling lands? For what is peace but the inaction of hostility? Anger? Sadness? That's what I am\"

Tanaka manages to finally steal Yasu's POE. But fails again to catch him. Yasu tells him however that he never used the piece of eden.

Instead he convinced people only based on the merits of his propositions. A better Japan, one that had suffered far too long under previous leaders.

The japanese wanted peace, everlasting, so he did everything in his power to handle that to them, for he truly loved the populace as he too had been one of them growing up, a peasant. Like Tanaka too.

Both knew what it was like to starve and see brother fight against brother due to pointless wars. If there was to be strife, let it be a final conflict, followed by eternal peace, Yasu claimed, proud of him.

He tells Takana that his obsession in claiming the piece of eden as the instrument used to subjugate people, was only an illusion told by Tanaka himself, to wash away his guilt. That he hood he wears won´t bring him peace. That the assassins always need a monster to justify their violent acts, not logic.

In truth, Yasu never used the apple for big purposes as he did not know how to do it. He merely saw the future, and the past, in a muddled way.

He believed himself to be a prophet from the Gods, God's chosen angel to deliver his will. A man of duality. A man that held in him societal and divine aspirations of a better world.

    Hidden temple

Yasu escapes and Tanaka takes the apple and takes it to the temple, hoping it will prove usable. But by now, Tanaka's goal was not that of a man simply trying to kill Yasu. He too had divine ambitions. Like Yasu. But his?

His were to kill the Gods. The Gods he claimed were responsible for not helping Yua. Tanaka is more and more a broken man, know fully realizing he is only to blame for helping Yasu at first. His choice.

He holds the Isu as unjust Gods by now, ones that had created humanity only to suffer, in a world he deemed unjust as well, exemplified by Yua's collapse, at the hands of a mere animal. Not evil, instinct.

There he activates it and another Isu consciousness appears in it. He is filled with anger, looking at the face of what he believed to be our Maker, a Maker that had not listened to his cries before.

He tries to stab the construct but it's just that, a construct. A construct that was damaged, now repaired by the POE.

He keeps asking as well who is Sara, while receiving visions of Modern Day Assassins and of the future and past, but in a way that was defined and clear, unlike Yasu's muddled visions.

The Isu consciouness tells him that the piece of Eden he holds and placed there is one of a whole, needed to access Desmond Miles in the Grey. He understands few of this.

The construct tells the modern assassins to continue seeking memories that will lead to Desmond. That the next is (insert time period and place..)

Absent of fulfilling his first taskm he now focus on the second one. To take down Yasu and his followers.

He understands he can do no more as he is visibly disappointed. But nonetheless focused on his second goal. To take out Yasu as he does, in 1616. A final infiltration mission in which he murders his way through the palace to take out Yasu, finally doing so.

Having fulfilled his goal, Tanaka returns to the Temple and he sucessfully commits Seppukku. Before he says out loud that he hopes that amidst all this pain, that his suffering was worth something in the end. For someone.

    Tanaka as he kills Yasu

All he did, all he lost, and the notion that his time was but an illusion as his memories were being seen in the future, it all took a toll on him, as he pushes his sword and commits seppuku, laying in the chair. Hatred and vengeance was not enough for him.

MODERN DAY PLOT: Begins with a scene in which Abstergo agents, part of team Animi, are searching for Sara Miller, the protagonist, modern assassin, in Tokyo, having learned she's there. The scene fades to black and an aerial view of Tokyo appears while Skeler - Tokyo plays.

The assassins learned that the descendant of the assassin they need to relive memories off is Kyoshi. This time the true descendant of Tanaka is a japanese assassin named Kyoshi, who joins the team.

It is Kyoshi in the animus. In missions you can choose to control Sara or Kyoshi in a mini explorable open world with facilities and the same gameplay loop of the past.

In the previous pitch, in the Modern Day plot William Miles sacrificed himself to save Sara. This has caused immense pain for the Assassins and has left the order in chaos, absent of leadership.

    Sara Miller

Sara blames herself for being captured before by the Animi Team (a team of highly trained abstergo operatives trained in the Animus and led by Numbskull, the silent protagonist of Black Flag and Rogue).

She too is embarking on a journey of perdition, devoted to taking down the newly discovered templar leader, a man of immense power and a sage himself who wants to discover the secrets of the simulation that is reality, steal technology from the Makers, kill them and use it for an unknown goal..

The Assassin cell, sans William Miles..

As the Templar leader believes the outside reality (outside of the simulation) to be a far better one. The true reality.

The assassins manage to capture an Animi operative that is in league with a rival faction named the Sons of Sirius, rival to both Templars and Assassins, that reveals that the templar leader, also secretly the leader of the rival faction, intends to initiate a despotic rule after he accomplishes his already known goals.

He intends to sterilize 99% of the human race, bringing down its numbers to the conspiratorial 500 million present in Stonehenge, which he believes are instructions left by the Isu.

The man finishes his confession, having not revealed much after being tortured by Sara and the assassins discuss what do with with him. Suddenly an arrow hits his head, shot by Sara as its revealed.

    https://preview.redd.it/uoyfsmtzieo51.jpg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c34b307caae3b46af6b7bfd5a2ab10902bbf9e46

The assassins tell her wtf is she doing, that he could know more and even then he was tied up. Sara ignores them as she is fully and utterly changed by guilt of William Miles dying to save her in Assassin's Creed Eclipse.

A second mission takes Sara and Kyoshi to uncover a facility containing more elements of this secret rival faction, to prevent them from reaching the temple discovered by Tanaka.

The third mission is about discovering the temple. There Sara, now closer to her usual self, empathetic and kind, and having accepted that it was William Miles's choice to sacrifice himself to save her, and Kyoshi as well, they find Tanaka's body, there.

In a very AC Revelations style cutscene they look at him and despite not saying anything she is thankful for him and sorry for what he had to go through in his life. In his memories she found strenght, now fully knowing the plans of the insidious faction within the Templars.

Sara and Kyoshi start to develop a romantic connection as he helps her deal with her own guilt, and helps her get through it as well.

Closer and closer to Desmond, the assassins now have all the info needed to uncover more of the Isu messages and understand the Templar's leader ultimate plans via the animus in the next game.

I always adjust my gameplay style, gear and choices to complement the story. I want to hear your quirks (I know some of you do it too)!

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 03:46 AM PDT

I was talking about this in a reply to another post, but it got me thinking: did any of you do something extra that wasn't dictated by gameplay, just for the sake of making the story feel more real?

In that other thread, I already posted a couple of things I did just for the sake of roleplaying:

    • Didn't start taking on Assassin contracts in Black Flag until near the end of the story, when Edward starts associating with the Assassins more honestly.

    • Didn't get poison darts, sleep darts, berserk, flesh decay or even smoke bombs until the Hidden Ones DLC in Origings. This way it felt way more like Bayek was coming up with the typical Assassin tools only once he and Aya founded the Hidden Ones.

    • I started with a warrior skillset in Odyssey and then, as Kassandra (in my head canon) started losing faith in the war even more and saw corruption everywhere, I started adopting more stealth-based abilities and even to play differently. Now I'm a full-on, stealth-using, night-dwelling justice seeker who doesn't ally herself with any large political force. My dialogue choices also reflect this.

    • When a certain protagonist faced great loss, I started dressing them in black and then, when time had passed and some quests with a some thematic resonance where resolved well, I had them "move on" by dressing differently again.

I actually did some more, in all games. Some were huge changes in gameplay, some were small, but to me the games are way less about trophies and perfect runs as they are about going all in with the story and adding an extra layer of roleplaying.

Some people replied that they also did some of these (like the Black flag one) and I became curious to know if anybody else plays like this. Also, I'd love to hear the details.

Please don't leave me alone in my insanity!

    Is anyone concerned about Valhalla?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 07:51 PM PDT

Hi, I've recently been thinking about the games I've reserved and assassin's creed Valhalla is one of them. However, I'm not sure if this game will live up to the hype they've tried to build around it.

I love the open world aesthetic of origins in odyssey, but odyssey was way too repetitive to a point I didn't even want to explore the entire map because I knew the missions will be the same. I also really liked the older assassin's creed feel of having to utilize stealth in order to complete missions.

The way they tried to market it, in my opinion, is that the game is a mix between open world RPG and traditional assassin's creed. However, I'm not sure what to expect. The game seems to be a repeat of odyssey with a few new stealth features and it's being sold as a newly developed game.

Is anybody else concerned that this game will not just be another open world RPG? I'm genuinely wondering if I should reserve call of duty cold war instead.

I love the mini games. Specifically the trading ones and sending assassin's out in missions

I love it, the crafting the convoys and the selling. I swear I love them almost as much as the game itself. I get a peculiar sense of satisfaction from it, anyone else?

For any one who would like to know, here are all the Hidden Blades variants in 5 sentences or less. [Spoilers]

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 05:53 AM PDT

(AC: Odyssey) Concealed Blade ; This was the very first type of hidden blade, created in 400CE, it was a very large and heavy blade placed on the outer or inner forearm, this made for quicker kills but it was more obvious. It was dubbed the concealed blade because the word hidden was not invented yet. This blade was also the blade, where they invented the tradition of severing the ring finger, it at first was a tradition for convenience, as when you extended the blade with a closed fist, it would go through your ring finger, but quick became a mark of dedication to the brotherhood. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed Odyssey.

(AC 1) OG Hidden Blade; This blade was used from the formation of the first Assassins Guild to around 1200 CE. It required the removal of the ring finger on the left hand for the blade to go through the hand to enable the assassin to stab. It was retracted a grip-y sort of marital to be wrapped around the ring finger's nub. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed 1.

(AC 2) Altaïr's New Hidden Blade; When Altaïr became a Master Assassin and Mentor, he recreated the Hidden blade to not require the removal of the middle finger, he did this by having a ring tied to a string that when pulled would retract the blade. This let the Assassin's be less obvious if the bright white and red robes weren't obvious enough. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed 2.

(AC 2,3,4,S,U) The Plated Hidden Blade; Altaïr felt the Assassin's needed a way to use the Hidden Blade in close combat, he did this by putting a metal plate on the forearm used for blocking and deflecting. This also warranted the use of two hidden blades at once. This Blade can be found in most all Assassins creed games that utilize the hidden blade.

(AC2) The Poison Blade; When Altaïr became the mentor, he allowed the use of poison once again. This is the beginning of the "Codex Family of Hidden Blades", the blade-blueprints left behind by Altaïr. This blade injects the target with mind numbing/destroying poison that puts the target in an irrational state of mind, making them crudely attack all in site by swinging their weapon wildly in all directions, before being destroyed from the inside-out. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed 2.

(AC2) Gun Mod Blade; This was another one of the codex modifications. This allowed the Assassin's to shoot lead pellets and poison rounds out of the blade of the dominant hand. This mod was abandoned around the early 1700's due to it being too heavy, bulky, and inaccurate. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed 2.

(AC2) Ezio's Blade; When Ezio became an Assassin, he was given a unique blade, one that retracts a blade that retracts its own blade. This made the blade longer but was also abandoned because the blade was dulling when retracting, as well as the sharp part of the blade being shortened. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed 2.

(AC Rev) The Hook Blade; Ezio was given this blade in the events of Revelations. This unique blade not only allowed a blade, but also an eagle-beak shaped hook to allowed Ezio to hook onto high ledges, the extra power full retraction also allowed momentum to be created to help getting up said ledges.. this was another blade that was swiftly abandoned due to being to pointy and destroying property. it was also frowned upon for "being a crutch". This Blade can be found in Assassins creed Revelations.

AC 3) The Pivot Blade; This extremely unique blade was first used in the mid-to-late 1700s by the colonial assassins. When retracted, this could be pivoted so that it can be used as a close combat dagger. This was frowned upon for not being traditional enough. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed 3.

(AC U) The Phantom Blade; This was another ranged variant of the hidden blade, it was still bulky, but wasn't heavy and was quiet. It was a crossbow like attachment on the under forearm, upon retraction, they could shoot the blade, Making a deadly but silent projectile. This was created and pioneered by the French assassins, upon the events of Unity. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed Unity.

The Trident Blade; This is an obscured and underused hidden blade that was first seen used in a comic that no one really read. People like the blade but it was extremely difficult to use at times as it would get caught on things and it was very large. Assassin's also had trouble using this, as it would have proved inadequate for somes aiming techniques. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed Brahman.

(AC C:C)The Hidden Foot Blade; This blade was one of the most uncommon hidden blade variants, It was very difficult to use unless you were extremely flexible. This blade was typically attached to the boot, but it wouldn't work correctly if you didn't have the correct boot. I'm not quite sure but I do believe it would retract by flexing one's toe. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed Chronicles: China and Assassin's creed embers.

The Needle Blade; A very unpopular and almost completely unknown variant of the hidden blade, to be more precise and cut deeper. I'm counting it's close cousin, the Dual prong blade as the same blade because it's the same thing but two of them. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed Chronicles: India

(AC S) The Modern Blade/Electric Blade; This is the most modern and most recent hidden blade. people use it but that's just because not many people are assassins. It is typically two red spikes that retract out of the usual hidden blade setup attached to the inner forearm, the two red spikes are extremely conductive and when stabbed, will inject you with thousands of watts of electricity, effectively killing you. This Blade can be found in Assassins creed Syndicate (cut-scene)

Let me know if I missed any and I will add them.

    Thanks for reading!

Haven’t played AC since the Ezio trilogy and AC3. Do you think I’ll enjoy Vahalla?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 05:19 PM PDT

As the title says, I haven't played anything in the series since AC3, although my favorite games were the Ezio Trilogy since I really enjoyed:

    • Busy and dense European cities with historically accurate landmarks.
    • Parkour with variety of building heights.
    • Stealth/assassin gameplay.

Now that I'm getting back into gaming (in general), I'm wondering if AC: Vahalla will be for me.

I ask because from what little I've seen of the series over the past several years, it seems like the series has gone for a larger, open-world design with RPG-lite elements and less focus on assassinations/stealth. Many of the locations also seem to lack that AC2 feel with dense European cities and good parkour locations.

Is this accurate? Looking at AC: Vahalla footage and knowing the time period, it seems like many of the locations are going to be more farmland/outside as opposed to having bustling city locations. The game also looks pretty combat heavy. Thoughts?

AC Unity: Does anyone know what this red double-cone on a bracket is? I cannot find it online with a picture search. Is this something meaningful in the game, or does it have another purpose in old-timey France?

AC: Odyssey; I’ve stumbled upon a major story moment while exploring before I was meant to, what do I do?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 07:07 PM PDT

I'm on the Wolf and the Snake chapter and I've just arrived in Phokis, had Elpenor try to have me killed and I was on my way to visit the Oracle when I stumbled upon this location called Snake Temple. I decide to clear it out and approaching from above I enter a cave there, and I stumble on Elpenor inside and the "Snake In The Grass" quest suddenly updates with "assassinate Elpenor". Now, the actual quest "Snake In The Grass" had only until now told me Elpenor was somewhere in the massive region of Phokis, which led me to believe I'm meant to be doing the Oracle quest "Consulting a Ghost" and somewhere in that quest or a subsequent main story quest I'd get info leading me to Elpenor. So obviously now I'm worried I've skipped a shitload of dialogue and man hunting and mini quests to find Elpenor and jumped straight to the end of this plot thread, which may mess up other elements of the story. Especially because looking online I've seen suggestions there is a fake Elpenor that I was meant to kill before finding this real one?

Anyways just looking for advice. I can load an auto save and turn back no worries, but that'll make it feel weird when I do stumble upon people who are giving me info about where he is when I already know now before Kassandra does. But if there's no consequence at all I'll just kill him now. God this is why I don't love games which leave things so up to the player and choice driven, I'm torn between the instinct to capitalize on stumbling on him here by luck because that makes the game feel personal to my experience, and the drive to get the best story told to me as I can.

What does the Assassin's Creed Odyssey npcs say?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 06:43 PM PDT

I was wondering about what does the npcs say when you interact with them, with the horse investing them, when you aim them with the bow or when they run away from you yelling stuffs, and all the other things they say. I know it's a difficult question because they speak ancient greek but, you know, Reddit never ceases to surprise me. Maybe if this is getting too hard to answer I'll do this post again but including some clips of the phrases. I can do it now but it's 4 am, try to understand me.

Is there an AC game where you have to run and hyde?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 10:19 PM PDT

So I played AC, AC2, ACBrotherhood, AC3, AC4, and the one where the templar is the good guy.

In none of them you had to use your awesome parkour skills to run away after killing your objective, you could just kill the army of the whole country.

Is there an Assassins Creed where you can be killed and you have to run because a few soldiers are a threat more than a joke, unlike in the other games?

    Maybe Unity? Origins? Odyssey?

Revelations introduced a concept that is unnecessary

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:30 PM PDT

I'm someone that constantly plays the whole series again and again. (Except the first one. I haven't gotten around to getting that back yet)

Each game introduces something new. Some things stick through the series and some things are completely taken out. Revelations introduced bomb making.

You can make a lot of different bombs, that do different things. And ive beaten this game close to 10 times now, and unless it's for 100% completion for a mission, I never use a bomb. For anything.

The whole thing is essentially useless, but still a cool concept.

Does anyone have tips for full syncing Assassin’s Creed 3, Sequence 7 Memory 3?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 08:05 PM PDT

I don't even know where to begin. You're detected like each guard has eyes on the back of their head, the AI behave as if they were made for an entirely different game, the parkour is straight up awful especially on the ships, and you're ammunition isn't replenished when you load the previous checkpoint to try again. This feels impossible.

I still think the Templars are the bad guys in AC3

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 12:00 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of people say how they believe the Templars in AC3 are actually the good guys and how you're actually the bad guy. I'm replaying the game after a few years in the remastered version currently and I've gotten about halfway through the game. So far it feels like the game kind of tries to make you feel bad for killing the templars but it really falls flat for me. After you assassinate them all of the Templars excuses for doing bad things seems really weak and moronic.

William Johnson: "Oh Connor what have you done! I was just going to kill all the Native American leaders in a peaceful negotiation and conquer their land and people by force.... to protect them!"

John Pitcairn: "Oh Connor what have you done! I was going to speak with the militia and create peace by telling them to just surrender and stop fighting the British.... just after I finish volleying and bombarding their position on Bunker Hill."

Thomas Hickey: "Fuck everything and everyone. I just wanted money. Now because you're a normal person that's not irresponsible you'll always be a slave"

It feels like the game wants you to believe that Templars are not bad guys when almost everything we see the Templars do in the game is pretty bad. I mean, other then killing dangerous criminals and freeing some captured Native Americans (for personal gain) in the beginning of the game, what exactly do the Templars ever do that is good in the game?

How the hell can I win the minigames in AC3?

    Posted: 20 Sep 2020 07:32 PM PDT

I've completed all AC games 100% so far, except 1 cause fuck those flags, I'm currently sitting at 70% synch on AC3 and I'm wondering, how can I win the minigames? They're so fucking hard, only game I have ever won was bowls, and I almost didn't win. I want to get that last thief challenge complete. Anyone have some tips?
