For 1,000+ years, assassins cut their fingers off out of respect for an accident.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:38 PM PDT

Since Bayek cut his finger off basically by accident and the original blade can be operated (carefully) without cutting your finger off all the assassins/hidden ones basically cut their fingers off out of respect for the founder of the order.

Assassin's Creed: Babylon, featuring Alexander The Great

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:01 PM PDT

Assassin's Creed: Babylon, featuring Alexander The Great

Another concept, continuing my fan made ones (Rome/India/China), with a connected story. City based. No level requirements. Recreation of Babylon in Next Gen, with 1:1 buildings and a culmination, Endgame like, for the Modern Day narrative and the whole franchise.

    ASSASSIN'S CREED ENDGAME: BABYLON.

    HISTORICAL PROTAGONIST: ILTANI

Iltani: \"I've seen visions of a dream, a philosophy, embracing future freedom fighters like us. And nightmares of a creedless past, where the Order of Ancients ruled and rules, absent of obstacules and opposition. This I mean to change\"

Born in Babylonia and considered to be one of the first proto-assassins, Iltani operated in the peak of the Macedonian Empire, and eventually came to found and lead the Babylon Brotherhood, a proto-brotherhood of the Hidden Ones/Assassins.

During her lifetime, Persia was conquered by the Macedonians and Alexander the Great, with his Isu Staff, prompting her to fight for freedom after witnessing a village razed by the armies. The lore states this and nothing more, if i'm not mistaken, allowing for more exploration of the character and the setting's importance to the franchise.

    BABYLONIAN BROTHERHOOD

It would be a city based game. Babylon was the biggest city in the world before Rome..

The Babylon Brotherhood was founded by Iltani and many other like minded individuals that existed in this time as a proto-assassins that held many of the same values of freedom that the Hidden Ones and the Assassins have, altho not quite in a fully defined way.

This the lore states. As such, many have criticized their existence as nonsensical because of Bayek's creation, and I'd agree. But this also presents an opportunity to turn their proto-status, from a plot hole to an actual interesting lore proposal.

    Visions of a future

How did the Babylon Brotherhood turn out to be basically assassins before they existed? This is shown to be a plot hole by the fans or at least confusing lore.

I agree, but this also allows for deeper exploration of it, trying to change confusing lore to logical one. Babylonian Brotherhood in the lore exists as the first or one of the first organizations, structured, instead of individual vigilantes, brotherhood of proto-assassins, assassinating high level VIPs.

The mysticism of the city perfectly fits an AC.

Here's an idea. I've talked with you, about the concept of the Red Rooms (which, considering this AC Babylon concept is connected to others, it fits like a glove), a fanmade lore of mine, which states that the Isu had understood reality to be a simulation (this Origins also argues) studied such simulation's code and managed to basically decode and predict probabilites with near certainty, knowing future events (like Desmond's existence and the 2012 solar flare), through created devices in hidden temples. But this also allowed some Isu to understand that if reality was a simulation it was built this way by unknown Makers. And built in such way, maybe on purpose..

One of the Red Rooms built by the Isu. Ironically, not red.

The Red Room had other functions, as I've talked before, like some Isu believed it to be capable of also ending reality itself, a merciful act for some Isu believed it to be filled with suffering. By shutting off the simulation.

Others believed it could open a portal to the outside world and access the true world. A better world. The original world. So, let's imagine, as I've said, Iltani finding one of such rooms, having visions of the future and the past, visions of future assassins and past proto assassins, individual and collective, visions of the creed.

Iltani embraced the creed...before its formal existence. This would cost her.

She'd then decide to create a brotherhood of her own, led by such values. But we know this brotherhood would not last. Because of lore... and maybe because time does not like to be defied. The solar flares as proof of that. The simulation constantly trying to reboot itself through cataclysms.

Bayek was to be the founder of the assassins, not Iltani as she tried. And the babylonian brotherhood would learn this, via destruction.

One could, however consider this to be already an act of defiance that Time itself could punish. Iltani knew the risks, but she had witnessed the despair and conflict present in her nation. She had to do something. She had to found the Babylonian Brotherhood to help her nation. Costing her dearly.

But this game would basically show the Creed as almost an ethereal thing, having existed forever, throghout all time, for time is too an illusion, something the Modern Day would touch more. The Creed would be something that had always existed. Bayek didn´t create it nor did Iltani.

She just found it through philosophy and observation of her world. And so she'd create a brotherhood of her own, following a creed, the creed.. But the simulation doesn´t like being tricked. The solar flares prove this, as Desmond's sacrifice angered the makers of it, triggering another, as Layla is fighting.

What exists beyond the simulation? This would be the central question of the game, open to interpretation

And so Iltani would learn. It doesn´t matter if their destruction (of the brotherhood) would be literally an act of punishment from the simulation. It only matters that Iltani knew, from her visions, that being a possibility. She did it anyway. Created it because her nation needed strong men and women fighting.

    DESTRUCTION AND SILVER LINING

The game would have Alexander the Great and his empire as the motivators for Iltani to build the brotherhood, despite the Temple stating the Assassins were not to be birthed at such a time.

So, contrary to Bayek's brotherhood, that would would rise in the precise moment that the simulation had defined it, expanding throghout the world until today, Iltani's Babylonian brotherhood would collapse, not expanding from its city, with its only achievement being the killing of Alexander.

A beautiful city, perfect for a city based map, with a Unity like recreation of its urbanity..

A grand one, naturally, but also its only one. Iltani's dream of a peaceful world, shattered amidst her ambition of peace, restricted to Babylon.. The simulatin was a cruel master, she believed by the end. A bitter end to the historical narrative. Her city saved. But not others, as she naturally wished.

    ALEXANDER THE GREAT

\"For a man who is a man, work, in my belief, if it is directed to noble ends, has no object beyond itself; none the less, if any of you wish to know what limit may be set to this particular camapaign, let me tell you that this empire there will be witness no boundaries but what God Himself has made for the whole world. And I will lead it, with the support of you, men. I would not have it any other way. A king fights with his army..\"

The historical villain of this game. One of the most successful generals in history. King of Macedon. He conquered a vast amount of land, and was undefeated and for this he is considered one of the greatest generals of all time.

Having been taught by Aristotles in the arts of philosophy and science, the king would have been gifted with great manipulative speech. He'd be able to convice most to fight for him, not force them.

In lore, Alexande was given a staff of Eden by the Order of Ancients. This makes it seem as if he was their tool and only achieved his goals with the help of the technology. I would write it differently.

\"I am not afraid of an army of lions led by sheep. I'm afraid of an amy of sheep led by a Lion. I will be Greece's lion, turning weakened men into warriors of our great kingdom.\"

The Staff would help, for sure, but none of Alexander's conquests were, primarly, derived from its power. Soldeirs were convinced by his words, believing in them, in him, with the staff helping only in the beggining. The Order of Ancients would be Alexander's puppet, not the other way as they believed.

If he were to be sucessful, he'd crush the order itself because "you don´t maintain control with mindless displays of violence, but with order and stability. Prosperity after the conquests. This is what I give to the people of the lands."

\"Worthless kings and Emperors, all. A worthy king is one that fights with his men, that stands with them when they are overwhelmed by opposing forces. For if I will conquer anything, it will be with your help. And if I am to lose it all, it will be by your side. I could not be more proud of such a gamble, soldiers.\"

He'd be assassinated by Iltani in the end, after having destroyed her brotherhood completely. His death would be a silver lining in a story of loss. Both him and Iltani, doomed by their ambition. Both wanting peace through different means. Iltani saving her city but losing her region. Alexander conquering the region but losing himself.

Alexander was also killed in Babylon, by Iltani as the lore states, in his palace. Imagine a classic infiltration assassination mission to take him out, Unity style.

MODERN DAY - THE ULTIMATE FIGHT (some context added from previous fan lore of mine)

VICTOR NORTH: The main villain of the Modern Day, revealed before as the ultimate leader of the templars, someone we've never known before. In my previous concepts, I'd describe the man as someone extremely manipulative. Admirer of Alexander.

Victor North: \"You think I want to destroy the world like the Sons of Sirius do? Everywhere we look, all we witness is pain and suffering. Our world crumbling before our eyes, and our society blames the people...useless fools. I don´t. I want to guide them. And yet the assassins look at me as some masterful evil man, when all you can blame me of being, is overlyconcerned with the chaotic nature of this reality? No. It is my love for people that drives me. They have just have been handed a broken world by cruel Gods. Don´t accuse me of hating people. Shall I remind you of your groups name?\"

Not only that, but a sage himself, having existed, or rather having lived thousands of lives for he was an Isu himself, responsible, among many, for having built the Red Room, the device the Isu made when they understood reality to be a simulation.

It was then North (had a different name then) understood if this was the case, then someone must have made the simulation like this. Gods that had doomed the Isu and their offspring to a world of suffering. Wars, natural disasters like the solar flare, present and future.

It was then he'd dedicate himself to the pursuit of exiting the simulation, the God's prison for us, achieving Nirvana, and killing the, or so he believed, unjust Gods, stealing their technology and returning to our world, to fix it.

You'd have some missions in the modern day dismantling Abstergo's high level executives, as the crescendo for the ultimate battle ensues. Source: tao-photographer.com

He'd see himself as Prometheus, stealing fire from the Gods, to help the people. But naturally, like Zeus killed the Gods and became one, he too wanted to become a God in our world, controlling us, hence he needed to be stopped. He was a templar, after all, naturally.

Not only was he the leader of the Templars, having killed and replaced his predecessor (the theme of killing "Gods" to achieve power yet again..), but also the leader of a rival faction to both assassins and templars, but, unknowingly to that faction, the Sons of Sirius.

Abstergo's major power comes from money, which creates influence. You don´t take down a conglomerate by assassinating just its heart. You take it limb by limb. As they unravelm their illusion of control unravels. A few quests in the modern day would be as such, taking Abstergo's money, weakening them until the final blow would be given.

Such faction seeked the destruction of the simulation, comprised of former disillusioned assassins and temples, now rejecting their creeds, for beliving the simulation to be flawed, hence virus, natural disasters, etc and not worth saving. He too believed the simulation to be flawed, except the destruction part, of course. "Why destroy when you can fix?" So he manipulated them, for his goal..

But who knows what could happen if he were to access the outside of the simulation. In pursuit of this goal he combined several artifacts and POE needed to build a trillion dollar machine, using Abstergo's funds, a machine he believed was capable, when combined with the artifacts, to acess the outside of the simulation. His dream, spanning thousands of years. To fix a broken world.

Personally, a great AC is one that has great modern day. It's a fundamental part of the franchise and the aesthetics fit just right. If the writing is done well and it mirrors the historical narrative, it's 10/10. Source: Access The Animus

But because the solar flare was coming and he did´not have enough time to achieve his goal, he managed to make sure he'd be reborn in specific points in time, until the modern day, to finally build t.

A madman's plan but one deriving from a simple desire. That of curiosity and fixing reality, ridding it of pain. Is he truly mad? That would be the question, along with reality's nature. Natural or virtual?

SARA MILLER: The modern day protagonist

\"These invisible lines that Templars and even Assassins at times, have drawn for this broken..world...I've realize they've no meaning. At all. Why should people, honest and hardworking, lose their lives based on something illusory as power, as you templars claim to want and pursue? No. Someone must stand between you and your twisted goals. Progress that eliminates free wil is no progress at all. Deep down you know it. Which is why you try to justify your actions. You know they stand immoral at their core\"

She was someone who had been literally cured of a painful chronic condition at Abstergo by Victor North, then appearing to be a simple medical executive saving her, a young woman, from a life of pain.

In truth, despite the cure being truly administred, Abstergo's major goal was to gain her confidence and then offering her a job at Abstergo researching DNA in their animus, not telling her that there was no DNA and it was her experiencing her own ancestor's lifes, so North could retrieve the location of important artifacts he needed to build his machine. But even Abstergo was being manipulated by Nort

From vigilante to Assassin. Source: Acess the Animus

Sara would discover the truth, escape and become a vigilante, then recruited by the Assassins, continuining to explore her lineage, finding she's a descendant of Adam and Eve, hence her fantastic resistance to bleeding effect and displaying the best animus skill retention yet..

EVE WOULD BE PLAYABLE IN SHORT MEMORY SEQUENCES, AS SHE'D BE REVEALED AS AN ANCESTOR OF SARA, LIKE ILTANI. ALL PLAYABLE PROTAGONISTS

But North, believing he knew every descendant of hers, didn´t know Iltani was one as well and failed to research her. It would be through Iltani's memories review that Sara would find a powerful artifact needed to kill North, for good, preventing him from being reborn in the future and attempting once more his devious plans. Because she had to stop the loop he had created.

Killing him however was, morally, more difficult than it seems because he was indeed her saviour, and the two had developed a familiar relationship. For one the daughter he never had, for another, her father. But, despite curing her of pain, he used her for his templar objectives.

But more than just Iltani's memories, this would be a game that would also show short memories of Cain and Abel, as descendants of Sara herself, where one could say the creed was born, culminating in a final one where Cain kills Abel.

Cain being considered the first proto-philosophical templar, creating the Children of Cain, the first proto-templar organization, explored via memory seals or interruptions to the main historical plot.

A game taking the player to the exploration of the origins, in the true sense of the word, of both creeds. Assassin and templar, along with their first proto-groups, the Children of Cain and the Babylonians.. The climax of the historical lore, to help modern assassins in the climax of the modern fight against the leader of the templars wanting to become a God.

The Babylon Brotherhood never achieved the same eventual global status of the Hidden Ones, despite being an early adoption of the creed in a structural level, one of the earliest if not the earliest, being mostly confined to the city in the picture. Not a bad city to fight on, though

All leading to a final showdown between the most powerful modern Assassin vs the Leader of the Templars, as he attempts to activate is piece of eden filled machine to access the true reality, if it exists, and kill the Makers and steal their power, to fix this broken world.

\"How do we know if, uh, this is real? If what we experience is what is. Sometimes I ponder...if this isn´t just a blur, just out of focus enough. If this is the present. Or just a dream being reviewd by someone. As I witness Iltanit's memories, it's as if I'm there, being her. But I'm not. She did not know of her importance. I wonder if our modernity is but the past of a distant future, holding important answers, as they frantically look for them, via the animus. I ponder...I do.\"

Regarding a full plot and ending, and the nature of what's outside the AC simulation, perhaps on another post as this is big already.

I actually have the plot, both historical and modern day one, mapped out in considerable more detail (like my AC Rome's post), with characters and such but this post is getting to big so for now, this is the basic stuff I wanted to share and why I think it could be an interesting concept.

How Babylon seems like a great setting for an Endgame like game, for its barebones lore allows for it to connect, in an Origins kind of way, to such ultimate modern day conflict. Perfect mirroring. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/42/51/ea/4251ea123e938822c0492d4c2f4a43c9.jpg

If assassins are suppose to show respect to their dead enemy's why do finishers exist?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 04:57 PM PDT

This is specifically aimed at eivor but this could apply to the other finishers as well. Ezios uncle scolded him for shaking and screaming at Veiri's dead body but eivor is literally chopping people's heads off and moving on to the next person. Aren't assassin's suppose to show respect to the dead? Chopping someone's head off isn't really respecting them. This makes no sense to me at all.

I killed a level 50 mercenary at level 17 in AC Odyssey

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 12:41 PM PDT

I was running around in AC Odyssey in Megaris and I found a mercenary, and I thought lets just try and kill him. I used Ikaros to try and see them from a distance, and I noticed that he had a skull which was obviously bad, and I went on the mercenaries menu, and he was the tier 1 mercenary. And conveniently he was at the temple of Apollo, so I climbed on top of it and kept shooting him over and over again using abilities and stuff and I eventually killed him. I confirmed the kill and got a level 50 heavy blunt, and he was a cultist.

Why is AC2's story considered to be so good?

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:46 PM PDT

This isn't a hate post by any means. I'm playing through it right now and really enjoying it. It has a lot more variety than AC1 and a little bit more depth with things like different weapons, armor, Assassin Tombs, and being able to invest money into the village to make more money. That being said, the story has yet to grab me and I'm on Sequence 8 right now, so I've definitely put some time in. That's not to say I haven't enjoy some story moments, but nothing of interest has happened. I feel like I'm just assassinating people that I don't even know. AC1 kinda had this problem but it wasn't as bad because you learned about them before the assassination. Does it pick up towards the end or is this to be expected for the rest of the game?

    I finally played & finished AC1!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:30 PM PDT

I got into assassins creed when I got a free copy of Odyssey from the Google Stadia beta. I have to say that I fell in love with the game from the beginning, just because of the depth and detail. It did get repetitive at times but the overall story was amazing in my opinion (I know a lot of people here didn't like it). This encouraged me to read a lot of history about the series and I finally decided to play AC1. The gameplay was definitely way different from Odyssey but I loved that it was much more difficult. Guards would actually follow and be alert and the parkour was way nicer (if not clunky)! And the story itself was way better because it actually made the modern scenes relevant. After finishing the game I can tell why a lot of people don't like the newer games but I just wanted to post this since everyone here appreciates the series as a whole! I think it's really cool how the games have evolved over the years since I've played the newest and oldest ones back to back. I'm planning on playing all of the games in the right order, can't wait for Valhalla to come out and wanted to know what you guys think of the first game just to compare with my experience!

[SPOILERS] AC Origins True Ending - The conclusion to Bayek's journey

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 04:06 AM PDT

Earlier this year, I posed a question to this sub which I will link below:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/gx3kx3/would_any_ac_game_make_it_into_a_best_games_of/

I had just done playing what many will say is the most refined and true to the Assassin's Creed experience, AC Unity. At the time, the game really brought back to me the feeling of playing AC II and Brotherhood, which was to many people what makes Assassin's Creed the game that it is. Whenever someone asks for which AC game to play, both of these games would be the ones people would recommend. However, the story was just bland and uninsipired. My understanding was that AC just fills that niche of good, but not great, games.

Now that I have played AC Origins to completion (100% on EVERYTHING which I have NEVER EVER DONE IN ANY GAME EVER), I can safely say that I think AC Origins deserve to be in any top 10 games of all time list, and would not hesitate to even recommend AC Origins to be someone's first experience with the series.

Although the main game was amazing, you can't skip the full experience both the Hidden Ones DLC and the Curse of the Pharoahs has to offer. The Hidden Ones, which shows the growing pains of the AC Brotherhood, and the Curse of the Pharoahs, which is truly the REAL ending to AC Origins, both needs to be played and experienced fully and one of the games that I say you must 100% to appreciate the journey of Bayek from Siwa.

    SPOILERS AHEAD:

I finished all the afterlife areas with the exception of the Duat before confronting Isidora and King Tut, and only then finished the Duat and the final dream intrepretation mission with the Master of the Secret Things. This final mission is the true ending of the game (not the ending with Sutekh - the red haired thief) and is the closure Bayek's is seeking for and a fitting reward after trying for so long to avenge Khemu's death.

I just want to say that, if you haven't played the DLC, please do so, complete it, play everything 100%, and you can agree with me that AC Origins is one of the top 10 games of all time.

A Rant About Odyssey: Excessive Amounts of Bounty Hunters Way Above My Level

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 01:40 PM PDT

To start, I think the game is enticing and fun, etc. It's good and I enjoy it.

However, when I first started playing, when I was around level 18, I would have almost no bounty so any bounty hunter coming my way was likely my level. Small battles with soldiers, however, would draw in bounty hunters 10+ levels above me and make it impossible to complete quest battles. This would even happen when I cleared my bounty on the map.

I'm leveled up now, so most bounty hunters I encounter are at my level and I rarely see any above.

It just made the gameplay less enjoyable and frustrating, and took what felt like forever to complete quests because I would have to run and hide to get them to leave, only to go about completing the battle to have them come back. Did anyone else experience this?

I have a theory on why William Miles dislike his son Desmond.

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 10:13 PM PDT

I was replaying assassin's creed 3 the yesterday and I realized that William's underline problem with Desmond wasn't that his son ran away from the brotherhood but the fact William didn't have the balls to run away himself. Hear me out on this. William Miles has a personality type to project his own flaws and weaknesses on to others around him. All the flaws he pointed out in Desmond's childhood into adulthood are his own feelings of weakness in his abilities as an assassin. So by the time Desmond because a better assassin than him, his only response is anger and dislike of Desmond. This is why he continues to disrespect his son. This lack of talent he projected on his son, is what gets him caught by the templars which forces Desmond to have to go save him.

Xbox Collector's Edition has reverted back to Discs. Our voices were heard by Ubisoft!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 05:28 AM PDT

Just got an email through saying Ubisoft have listened to the community and Assassin's Creed Valhalla Xbox Collector's Edition (EU) will now ship with discs as originally promised!

    Email quote:

"Following the recent decision to change the format of the game included with our Xbox Collector's Edition of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, we have listened to the community feedback and taken it into account.

This means we have decided to revert to our original offer and will ship your order with a physical disc instead of a digital version of Assassin's Creed Valhalla."

To others who, like myself, messaged them directly on this matter - our voices were obviously heard loud and clear! Great success indeed.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Voice Actors

Naval Warfare from Rogue Is Awesome!!!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:38 AM PDT

Just started playing Rogue for the first time after playing through Black Flag again. I can't believe I didn't play Rogue sooner! The plot in Rogue is definitely not as good (though I am enjoying it).

As someone who really enjoys the ship gameplay from BF, Rogue really scratches the itch. They fleshed out the gameplay more by adding in things like:

    • Random world events (abandoned ship, supporting allied ships, etc)
    • Enemy ships can board the Morrigan
    • Legendary ship battles (instead of BF's 1v1)
    • Incentive to board enemy ship (you can salvage for $$$ or add to fleet)
    • Fleet mini game doesn't require online connection
    • Weather (fog, blizzard)

If you enjoyed the naval gameplay in BF I think Rogue is definitely worth checking out.

In Odyssey, I once found a fort that had a perfect perch to pick everyone off one by one with predator shot – a tree branch that hung over a corner of it. Anyone know where I’m talking about? Thanks!

    Posted: 28 Aug 2020 11:31 AM PDT

40% damage above targets + 20% predator shot + etc. made it a great materials farming spot. Pan to the wall left of the corner and take out someone, pan to the right and do the same, and it keeps the rest of the bodies and loot in two easy to find spots. If they light the brazier, that's fine, because it's more targets and more loot. There are animals behind you to get quick adrenaline when you need it. I took out the entire place and never got spotted.

There are faster ways to farm forts, but I like to switch it up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, folks!

Assassin's Creed should look into its past to find what it did right.

I miss Desmond. I've been replaying AC Brotherhood and I had forgotten just how much a modern day protagonist added to the overall story. I understand that people got annoyed that they were often pulled out of the animus in order to do some chores as Desmond, but that was exactly what made it better. It leaves you wanting more every time as you can't wait to go back in. Also, that slowing down effect as you're being pulled out was pretty cool.

You were fully immersed as Desmond who was living something remarkable, being able to relive his ancestors memories is not something everyone could do (unlike now where apparently abstergo sells animuses? animi? to everyone). There were dangers to doing it and he would express his thoughts on recent events inside the simulation. Most of all, you had a purpose as Desmond! You had to look through the past to find something in the present. Nowadays, I can't say I give a crap what happens in the present.

I don't believe we need this whole RPG bullshit that was added simply to copy the witcher 3, Assassin's Creed was a success because it was something new, not a copy of something people liked. We need a solid single-player story. There are ways to do this without taking all the freedom away from the player.

The climbing was challenging, it's what made it fun. You weren't spider-man, you were an Assassin that used his climbing skills to gain an advantage over his enemies. There was a certain danger to it, you weren't glued to the wall. You had to take into account these pros and cons when approaching a situation.

One thing I'll never understand why they took it out is the enemies surrendering. It was the best mechanic in the older games. What's the point of fighting like a god? To not take any damage? That's not enough for me, it should be that if you kill 3 (or more, whatever) of the guards in a row with amazingly timed counters and without taking any damage you should have the enemies react to that by begging for mercy. Who in their right mind would keep fighting a guy like that after seeing him effortlessly killing his buddies?

    Also, I miss the dagger.

    Let me know your thoughts.

Edit: Some of you need to understand that I'm not shitting on the new games, I'm simply mentioning some things that the franchise lost along the way.

To what extent are guards aware of Templar activities and goals?

Are they merely pawns in the way of the Assassins?
