Celebrating Women in Assassin’s Creed [Spoilers], #ACSisterhood

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 08:03 AM PDT

In celebration of #ACSisterhood, I decided to note the many women in Assassin's Creed. From the games, to written media, and even a movie, there are some amazing women characters in this franchise. Hopefully in the future, we'll be able to add a solo female main protagonist to this list. I've thoroughly enjoyed the many male characters we've had, but it's beyond time to have a single female lead. Please join me in celebrating these women as part of the #ACSisterhood!

Please note, there may be some spoilers here. The list is long, and I hope I haven't forgotten too many. And I'll quickly mention Eivor here as Assassin's Creed Valhalla has not been released yet, but she seems like she'll be a very important character. I hope you all will enjoy reading through this. Final notes & thoughts:

*A big thank you to the Assassin's Creed Wiki for being a great source of information.

*Also, thank you to /u/Lacrossedeamon for assistance with the list of women in the comics. I greatly appreciate it. <3

*A warm shout out to all the developers and creators who have brought all these women to life in the games and other media. Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see more female characters in future Assassin's Creed games & media.

*This post was not created to slight or diminish any of the male characters in the series, but rather to celebrate the achievements of the females. I adore the male characters, absolutely love them. (Edward Kenway will always be my favorite.) I simply wanted to spotlight the accomplishments of the women, in hopes that we will one day be able to welcome a sole female protagonist in the games. This is my way of lending support for #ACSisterhood!

Odyssey has some really brave NPCs.

Is it just me or do other people watch an NPC in Odyssey run off while your fighting some guards and when they come back with a broom or shovel your just like, "So you have chosen death."?

Unity & Syndicate were the closest AC games to reality

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 04:44 AM PDT

They had vibrant and vivid graphics and atmosphere, you don't feel like you are playing in a simulation with NPCs, you feel you are part of the events. The storylines and characters might not have been as good as AC2, Black Flag, Origins, but the historical background, places, figures were miles better and more diverse and engaging than any other AC games (French Revolution, Industrial Revolution, meeting revolutionaries, scientists, philosophers, etc). Gameplay was decent and the customization in Unity was one of the greatest features in AC. And finally, the hidden message behind them is deep and meaningful (anti-establishment, liberation of the workers, etc)

I'm not a fan of the Valhalla Soundtrack

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 11:20 PM PDT

I've listened to it all and I get little emotional feelings from it. There are some melodies that spark a little but never a tune that really gets me going. And you could argue that I need to attach a story to the music but I'd argue that I had listened to other soundtracks and loved them before playing the games, e.g Ezio's Family and Rogue Theme.

You can disagree and like them. I ain't saying they are bad either - better than anything I could produce. Just curious if I'm an outlier.

Arno should have been a Templar (Spoilers for Unity)

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 02:23 PM PDT

So I've been thinking about this for a while since replaying AC Unity and Arno has a really weak reason to be an assassin, and if anything he has a good reason to not be an assassin, seeing as he was raised by a Templar, is currently horny for a Templar, and in a giant, bloody revolution when upper class people like Arno are being mob murdered, order seems more appealing than freedom. So I thought about it for a while and realised that if Arno was a Templar, it would drastically improve the story of Unity.

    Let me explain.

So imagine if in that section after the Bastille when Elise kicks Arno out, what if Arno explained that he wasn't an assassin and he didn't know what she was talking about. Then, Elise explains that Daddy De La Serre was a Templar, she's a Templar, the murderer wants her dead too, the murderer has proclaimed himself the new Grand Master, and (This isn't canon but let's roll with it), Daddy De La Serre was training her to succeed him as Grand Master after he retired. Arno would most likely want to help, seeing as he's horny for Elise and she and DDLS were basically robbed of the Grand Master title, so he agrees to help her and in return, Elise gives Arno DDLS's Templar uniform, weapons and equipment, and officially inducts him as a Templar. Things progress as normal, except instead of Pisspot, Elise does the intel, using her Templar training, and finds out Sivert's location. Arno assassinates Sivert but when he leaves, he is confronted by Pisspot, who asks what the hell he's doing dressed as a Templar and assassinating people on his own. Arno can't explain, worried he might put Elise in danger, and Pisspot warns him that killing Sivert has put him on the Assassin's radar; they're now going to start gunning for him. In a desperate situation, Arno decides to present himself to the Assassin's and explain everything. Elise thinks it's a terrible idea but goes along anyway because Arno is convinced that being open with the Assassin's will work. Elise snoops about and discovers that the Assassin's operate out of the Cafe Theatre, so both of them head there. Once they arrive, they are apprehended by Assassins and ask for Pisspot, who arrives confused and agrees to take them to the Assassin council so they can talk. Once in the council room surrounded by Assassins, The council ask Arno what he and Elise are doing here and Arno explains the situation, that Elise is the rightful Grand Master of the Templars, that DDLS was murdered by the current Grand Master and that they are trying to track him down. The council asks why he is here at the Assassin's HQ and Arno asks for their help, stating that with a little recon, intel and assistance, they can see Elise into the Grand Master position and if that happens, there could be a very likely truce, or even an alliance. The council doubt it, saying that truces have been tried in the past, but Arno stands that this could be the time it works, this could be a chance for old enemies to finally embrace their differences, to unite. Eventually, the council bites and agrees to offer assistance to the De La Serre effort, despite Pisspot's protests that the union could never happen. This could start a Templar civil war in which Germains Templar Order and Arno's Templar Order clash, perhaps even reintroducing Assassin recruits as Templar recruits. The game could have you building up a new Templar offshoot led by Elise, all while taking out Germain's Templars with the help of the Assassins. The best part is that most of the story could be left untouched, as most of the story is spent hunting Germain's Templars. You could even keep Pisspot's betrayal and the aggressive way he talks to Arno and it would make more sense. Elise and Arno's relationship would lose the "forbidden love" aspect and gain a kind of "partners in crime" relationship. The ending could have Arno, Elise and the Assassin council form a truce or it could end with simple, sweet vengeance, or even just the same way it ended in the base game and any way you choose, I think it'd work. I don't know if it's just me, but I swear every part of the story could be made better by having Arno switch sides. I don't think it'd be too hard to work around the actual historical events as well. The only real loss would have been Assassin Ranks, co op missions and a few motivations and dialogue lines.

TLDR: Arno has more reason to be a Templar than an an assassin and it would have improved the story a lot while only getting rid of a little

Also Arno wearing Shay's duds looks fly AF

Modern Day Next Gen concept, starring the descendant of Eve, reliving sections of her life

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 03:06 PM PDT

Modern Day Next Gen concept, starring the descendant of Eve, reliving sections of her life

Don´t turn off this idea just yet. After a concept for a Roman AC (Imperium) and an Indian one, I will attempt to explain why a Modern Day Assassin's Creed (MAC) could be great, unique, not only as an AC but as a game in general

SARA MILLER, THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE GAME IN HER ASSASSIN OUTFIT

THE PREMISE: This game would feature all the elements that make an AC, including yes, an historical narrative. In this game, our main quest would be to find the location the location of artifacts of Eve, the human-Isu hybrid and the first Proto - Assassin.

The game would have dual protagonists then. A young female vigilante turned Assassin named Sara Miller and, obviously, Eve herself.

The story would be told in a soft non-chronological manner, to slowly reveal how Sara went from being an Abstergo employee to Vigilante and Assassin. And to reveal more on her relationship with the main villain. But more on story later.

This franchise made a promise once. Within a sci fi ambience, to deal with some of life's biggest questions. I'll add to that.

Where do we come from? Who created us? Is freedom preferable to stable order? Can there be balance? THE GAME WOULD BE TITLED ASSASSIN'S CREED: SCHISM

Another big element that I would explore in this game, while adding my own lore to it, which I've talked about here, would be reality as a simulation.

But more than confirm this, I'd approach this as just that. A possibility. That would drive characters throughout, potentially to their success, or demise as they question the world around them. Dialogue would be heavily philosophical (like Darby's).

EVE WOULD BE PLAYABLE IN REGRESSIONS TO ISU TIMES, MUCH LIKE EZIO RELIVES SEQUENCES OF ALTAIR'S LIFE. THE SAME EMOTIONAL CONNECTION WOULD BE MADE BETWEEN SARA AND EVE, DESPITE BEING SEPARATED BY THOUSANDS OF YEARS

But more on characters and story later. First, let's discuss:

MECHANICS AND GAMEPLAY, AMBIENCE AND TONE, MAP AND LOCATION

ABSTERGO'S BUILDINGS SHOULD HAVE THIS STYLE. A CONSTANT REMINDER OF THEIR OPPRESSIVE NATURE WHEREVER YOU LOOKED

MECHANICS: The game should feature hand to hand combat as its primary form of combat. One of the major criticisms against the idea of a MAC is that it would be a gunfest.

But there is precedence in modern day open world games having hand to hand combat and limiting guns considerably. Sleeping Dogs does this, set in Hong Kong and it's a great game.

HAND TO HAND COMBAT WITH OR WITHOUT YOUR HIDDEN BLADE WOULD BE THE MAJOR FOCUS OF THE COMBAT

Besides, set it outside America and most places have severely restrictive or outright ban guns.

You could also say in the narrative that Abstergo has recently banned guns by influencing local politics or something.

Guns could be a secondary or terciary weapon in the game, limited and rare, forcing a MAC to return to AC's original premise.

A stealth game. In which you'd have the choice to only kill targets and spare guards and such.

If you want, you could use guns by investing in skills for that but it would not be a thing the game would encourage. But taking out a gun would bring the bulk of the police on you.

AC should be AC, not Warrior's Creed. Any setting is possible as long as it depicts this moral conflict between 2 orders.

BLACK BOX MISSIONS WOULD BE PRESENT, AS YOU WOULD HAVE TO CAREFULLY PLAN YOUR ASSASSINATIONS. YOU COULD USE BOWS FOR STEALTH

    AMBIENCE AND TONE

THE TONE OF THE STORY AND ITS WORLD MAP SHOULD REFLECT THE DIFFICULT TASK OF THE ASSASSINS.. FIGHTING A CORPORATION AND ORDER OF SUCH POWER

The game should attempt to be mature, serious, philosophical and not afraid to explore deep questions.

The tone should be dark, not pretentious but dark and moody because that's when AC writing is at its best, philosophically. (1, Revelations, III, Black Flag).

The characters should be nuanced and of dual nature like best characters are.

Including the main character, because why bother having a nuanced villain if the "hero" is just perfect. Both are conflicted and nuanced.

SARA HAD CONSIDERABLE DISAGREEMENTS WITH THE ASSASSIN FOR BELIEVING THE CREED TO BE, AT TIMES, TOO CONTRADICTORY. SHE APPRECIATED IT THO

The piece, or in this case device of Eden, that I would use in this story would be another extension of the moral conflict that the AC universe brings.

At its core, AC its about two orders attempting to reduce suffering in a world they find broken. The device of Eden and the reasons to find it would mirror that.. More on that later

    MAP AND LOCATION

AN OPTION I WOULD LIKE WOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE (OR ACTUALLY) HONG KONG, FOR ITS PROTO-CYBERPUNK AESTHETICS, THAT FIT THE PROTO-CYBERPUNK NATURE OF MODERN AC

A BLADE IN THE CROWD, LITERALLY

Imagine, climbing a huge skyscraper (with parkour or a zip line that you could acquire like in syndicate), looking at the city down below, people looking like ants. Imagine an assassination that takes you to the top of a building, chasing your target.

Walking rainy wet streets as you pass through hundreds of people, walking in your hood (or not, if you choose to not wear it), chasing your target with your classic eagle vision (yes, no eagle stuff obviously).

Imagine a mission taking you to the slums as you have to witness the human despair present in such conditions, enforcing the main character's belief for a better world

THE GAME WOULD NATURALLY ALLOW VERTICAL EXPLORATION, WHICH WOULD ALSO DISTINGUISH IT FROM OTHER MODERN OPEN WORLD URBAN GAMES LIKE WATCH DOGS.

STORY, PHILOSOPHY AND THE DEVICE OF EDEN

It's this tone, this ambience, and the lore that would help the narrative and make this nothing like WD.

Remember, the failure of imagination does not mean it cannot be done. This is why I'm defending a MAC at all..

Reality as a simulation has been debated as a possibility for the AC universe. At first , I wasn´t too keen on it. But then I started to think about the moral questions this raises.

Who created the simulation? If it's just a simulation, can it be switched off or altered? Could this be why the Isu knew about future events, by discovering and hacking the code of reality and its probability? What if they built a device that allowed that? That is the DEVICE OF EDEN.

In Schism, the main theme is GNOSTICISM. The idea that the created world is a flawed one on purpose, by the Gods or whoever it created. If the AC universe is a simulation, then who created it?

The Isu didn´t. They just found out how to manipulate it so they could find Desmond and such in the future. But who built the simulation? Why create it with natural disasters and such?

WHO BUILT THE SIMULATION, IF IT EXISTS? WHAT IS OUTSIDE THE AC SIMULATION? WHAT COULD BE UNLEASHED?

This would be the promise of the device.

In Schism the main objective would be to find out who created the simulation and, for the villain, a gnostic, that thinks the creators mean to punish us, he wants to fix reality itself, to eliminate suffering from the equation.

The conflict of man and nature, and man and society would be present in its duality. The villain would want to find the device to "steal fire from the Gods" as prometheus did, and give it back to the people.

Not directly. He would still be their shepard, for templars seek control.. This doesn´t mean there would be actual Gods, since AC is not fantasy, just that the villain believes reality is a simulation. Therefroe someone created it with all its flaws on purpose (natural disaters, etc).

THE ISU REALIZED REALITY WAS A SIMULATION AND SO THEY HACKED IT. THIS IS WHY THEY KNEW ABOUT DESMOND MILES IN THE FUTURE..

Therefore, he seeks to not only gain revenge on what he perceives to be unjust Gods or creators, while seeking to fix reality of all its problems...but also the human ones.

This is the duality. He would want also, to use the device to access the outside of the simulation and to also make it so that the assassins would be destroyed.

Erased along with the Creed. Hence why he's ultimately a villain. Morally grey one. As you can see, There is a considerable lovecraftian element in this story and goal.

The assassins would naturally want to find the device and destroy it, fearing what could be done if the villain tried to access the outside of the simulation and use whatever there is to control our reality and in the middle of all this our main character, Sara, which would recognize the merits of both goals..

    CHARACTERS AND THEIR STORY ARC

    SARA MILLER:

SARA'S PHILOSOPHY WOULD BE A MAJOR ELEMENT OF HER ARC..

Descendant of Eve, but she doesn´t know this until later in the game. She used to work for Abstergo, in the animus research department, having then discovered the true nature of the company, swearing revenge on them, despite understanding the merit in templar philosophy, becoming then a vigilante thanks to all the training she had learned in the animus, being discovered by the assassins due to her vigilantism and joining the brotherhood.

Her animus retention skills and bleeding effect was always great, better than most if not all other animus users at Abstergo. This was because she was Eve's descendant, thus being way more capable of handling the animus

SHE WAS PROFICIENT IN ARCHERY DUE TO HER TIME IN THE ANIMUS

WHY DID SARA JOIN ABSTERGO? The story would be told with flashbacks as by the start she is already an Assassin in the brotherhood.

She joined Abstergo because, due to the fact she suffered from extensive chronic pain due to trigeminal neuralgia (one of the most painful conditions to exist), she looked for Abstergo's private clinics for a treatment.

Unknown to her, her DNA flagged an alert on Abstergo's systems as she was finally discovered, the person they always seeked**, the descendant of Eve**, the first proto assassin.

After being cured via new treatments only Abstergo could provide to her, she was asked to join the department of animus research as she was already an historian before. She quickly accepted.

Accompanying her in all this process was Abstergo's medical CEO, who always treated her with absolute kindness and care in the curing process and later, as she joined Abstergo.

    THE VILLAIN

This was an Abstergo's plot to recover her DNA and attempt a regression to Isu times. She'd relive several short sequences of ancestor assassins thinking however she was just playing out recovered DNA.

When she finds out it isn´t true, that she was actually reliving her own ancestors lifes, as Abstergo seeked the DNA chain of Eve, she manages to escape Abstergo and becomes a vigilante.

But the fact that Abstergo finally gave her pain relief and truly helped her, remains a point of thought for her. She was fighting the same people and the same man that saved her life.

DEEPLY DEVOTED TO HELPING PEOPLE, SHE WOULD BE CHARACTERIZED AS A WISE PERSON. NOT PRETENTIOUS, BUT WITH A DEFINED SET OF IDEALS AND MORALS

There would be several flashbacks that would explain this. The first scene of the game, after the oath of the creed would be Sara being taken, in a angelically white room, to the procedure room to receive treatments, as if templars were literal angels saving a young woman from a life of pain. In a way, they were, especially the Medical CEO.

Her Eve regression memories would be relived in the flashbacks, as she progressively remembers in the present day all Abstergo did to her, as she only remembered pieces of it, not remembering Eve's

SARA WAS FIGHTING ABSTERGO'S NEW CEO, WHO HAD SAVED HER FROM PAIN. THIS CAUSED TREMENDOUS CONFLICT FOR HER. FIGHTING HER OWN SAVIOUR

In those memories, she'd find where Eve has located seals, artifacts necessary to open the Temple where the ultimate device of Eden is located, and to seal it off.

After reliving each Eve's memories, we'd have to go get the artifacts from Abstergo's Sigma team, which had recovered them, except one. The templars wanted the temple for its predictive capabilities.

Because they believed it could allow them to peek through the simulation and know future events like the Isu. But the main villain had different, more expansive objectives, despite being a templar himself.

This device was constructed by the Isu to allow them to predict the future. But it had other uses, as a rogue group of Isu developed several backdoors as they realized the implications of reality as a simulation.

That life was built on suffering...and that someone created reality this way. On purpose. This last artifact would be recovered by Sara as, near the end of the game, she finally enters the animus again, now with all memory of the time she used the animus at Abstergo.

Knowing the risk of attempting another regression to Isu times, but this time in the safe companionship of the fellow Assassins, she'd locate the final piece, reliving the last memory of Eve, as the first proto-assassin stores the piece before the demise of humans and Isu by the solar flare.

In Eve's memories, from beggining to start, we'd see the birth of liberty as an ideal, as Eve steals an apple from the Isu, studies it, liberates mankind from their control, entices a war but fails to seal the hidden temple with the device before the Solar flare.

Her actions and her fight for freedom would inspire Sara and be a turning point for her character, making her more optimistic and determined.

Because a major crisis for her, and why there is conflict within her was the promise of the device in the temple.

Having suffered from excruciating chronic pain most of her life, she knew the flaws this world has, so she looked with promise to the possibility of such a device that could fix anything in reality. This caused friction between her and the Assassins as they would just want to destroy it.

    SARA RETRIEVING ARTIFACTS FROM ABSTERGO

"To save the world you need strenght. But most people don´t have it. I can´t blame them. The world..is a vampire. I've felt his tight grip over me.

It's broken beyond repair and the Creed doesn´t account for that. It does have tremendous merit in its defense of liberty, it also provides an easy way for the assassins to ignore the brutal aspects of reality, as they bask themselves in a solution, they believe, that fixes nothing**. " -** Sara's defining quote.

    THE VILLAIN

A well spoken relaxed man, british, he had the ambitions of a king. In the flashbacks he'd still be Abstego's Medical CEO, but in the present day he would be actually named the new Abstergo's CEO, at an Abstergo party you'd infiltrate, as he receives the news, to little surprise of him, but to the surprise of Sara.

He'd be tasked with stabilizing the company. But his goals were bigger than that.

"In every room I've step my feet in, I was always the most powerful man. I was always the one everyone looked to, as they seeked my guidance or advice or my pardon..

Every room, except here at Abstergo. I intend. To leave a legacy, the standard to which was set by Caesar, father of Understanding. I intend to become not just to climb a ladder but I intend to become the Templars leader, by force if necessary". - The Villain, as he has a conversation with Sara mid game after they meet again after the flashbacks.

This is however not necessarly only a ruthless man. There is the continuous question, set by the flashbacks.

Did he care for Sara? In one of them, he tells her he had lost his daughter. In a way, he viewed Sara as one at first, despite never fully embracing her like that.

His goal is to find the hidden temple and the device. He too, like Sara, thinks the world to be broken. Here comes gnosticism. He blames the Gods, or rather, the creators of the simulation, as he believes in that too.

He wants to find the hidden temple and, like Prometheus, steal their fire. Fix the world, kill the Gods that sentenced us and to save humanity.

But he'd want to destory the assassins, as he despises their violence..except Sara, who he cares for deeply, absent of showing that.

THE VILLAIN IN THE FLASHBACKS HOPED TO CONVINCE SARA TO BECOME A TEMPLAR AGENT AND TRAINED HER FOR THAT PURPOSE

"Did you ever hear the story of the Titans? The old Gods. So afraid of their children, the Isu, that they destroyed them. The solar flare..

We, as the offspring of the Isu, are too the targets of their collective destruction, whatever they are. You know what you want me to ask. Who created the Isu. Who created the world**.**

Who created this broken reality... do you remember how the old Gods were killed. Before they could destroy their children, one of theirs...Zeus...killed his father as he choked him.

I will steal their fire, like Prometheus did, I will be the people's shepard in the New World and I will kill our creators, liberating mankind, like Zeus did." - The villain, talking to Sara when they meet again. This is a man that manipulates the templars, despite them not understanding that.

They are actively being used as a ladder for his goals. He is one of the most dangerous men in the order itself, as he has, like Sara, a higher than usual distaste for suffering.

And more determined to end it, and to punish those responsible, than anyone else. If he has to kill templars to do so, he will do it. When Sara found out about being used for experimentations she argued with him.

It was here that it was revealed that the cure was indeed real, as she thought it wasn´t because they lied about everything else.

The villain assured her, and this was the absolute truth, that the templars wanted to fake a cure and wanted to just kidnap her like they did with Desmond

HIS TRUE PLANS DISCOVERED, FINALLY THE FARCE WAS OVER, HE ALWAYS PREFERED HONESTY WHEN POSSIBLE, EVERY TARGET IN THE GAME WOULD BE FICTIONAL, THERE WOULD BE NO REAL FIGURE TO AVOID CONTROVERSY

He also tells her, it was his order that allowed her to live several times. And by his command, she was treated well always, under penalty of death for those that rejected his command.

Her memories with Eve, for being such difficult times to regress to, were muddled in her mind which led her to not remember those parts, just the rest, at first, helped by the fact Abstergo would drug her so that she would be more susceptible. Unfortenatly for mankind, he says, she escaped before the final Eve memory was reviewed by Abstergo. The final key.

He believes the brutality of Templar's actions in the past is why they failed. Manipulation and empathy was the way to go.

He believed you don´t control the world with abject diplays of violence (in this he despises the assassins). Real control is surgical and precise. Only acts when it´s absolutely necessary.

What would happen if he opened a portal for the outside of the simulation? What would he unleash? The villain cares not about this. He too has suffered in his past, after losing his daughter.

We also get a non playable, cutscene based flashback eventually, to the villain's past in his youth, as he displays his ideology towards society.

This was not just a man at conflict with nature. Remember the dual nature of the characters. This was a man also at odds with society.

He is shown in the flashback as a young Abstergo agent talking to his then boss in the 70s about a traitor.

Not a traitor to the order, but to humanity itself as he valued that more. He tells his boss he knows it was him that ordered it.

How he knows he has killed all those people needlessly (vague stuff) and he shoots him. He makes it look like a suicide, and takes his place.

As the game progresses, he would feel more and more frustrated with the assassins.

CLASSIC JUMP KILLS WOULD BE POSSIBLE, WITH YOUR HIDDEN KNIFE

https://www.tvinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/AR809b_0593r-1.jpg AESTHETICS WOULD BE AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT.

THE ENDING PART: As the assassins locate the hidden temple, so too have the templars after an ambush of one of them that confesses and Sara has to save.

The final scene, after a harsh battle between both factions, has Sara and the man himself standing next to the device. Sara begs him not to activate it.

The man is now less calm, as he stands within seconds of his goal.

To know what's outside the simulation. To kill those that created it and use their knowledge to fix our reality from its errors. He tells her to join him, that both will be revered as heroes.

This is a man now consumed by the opportunity.

He no longer is calm, he is simultaneosly extactic and desperate that Sara might stop him. He tells her...they, whoever they are, must pay. For what they did to all of us. She agrees but tells him it's too dangerous.

The fact that he saved her in the flashbacks makes her flinch for a second, allowing him the opportunity to go for the button and open the portal to the other side of the simulation.

She then kills him before he manages to do it. He doomed himself for something he doesn´t even know if it was true. That's his tragical arc. Killed by someone in his own way, he loved. Like a daugher.

She grabs him as he dies, as he pleads for her to finish what he started. She looks to the device. For a second she ponders again whether she should've let him activate it.

I hope you liked the idea. A fun open world modern game is a fun modern game, AC or not.

Ubisoft Sofia should replace Quebec as the second Assassin's Creed dev team.

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 08:39 AM PDT

Ubisoft Sofia have been part of Assassin's Creed for several years now and have a pretty good track record too. Liberation was a good game let down by the limitations of the Vita and most likely its smaller budget given it was a spin-off, Rogue was a great game overlooked by many due to being last gen exclusive (at first anyway) and suffered from having to stick very close to Black Flag's formula and the Curse of the Pharaohs DLC for Origins is absolutely amazing, in my opinion the best DLC of the franchise.

Sofia is a team with great potential, obvious talent and dare I say some real love for Assassin's Creed. Compare this to Quebec's treatment of both the licence and the fanbase and you can see the difference. I'm not a Quebec hater (I genuinely loved Syndicate and despite many caveats like Odyssey) but how divisive their games have been, compared to even Assassin's Creed III and Unity, cannot be denied nor good for the franchise or Ubisoft themselves.

If Quebec wanna stick with Gods and Monsters then Ubisoft should let them and promote Sofia to a full time Assassin's Creed team.

    AC and possible new limitations

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 10:35 PM PDT

Sorry if this has been posted here and I am honestly seeking constructive convos not trying to spark a debate on if the old formula for Ac games is better than the new one or vice versa

But at the end of the day the new RPG elements limit what can be done I feel like because with the elements you have different weapons to choose and different armors which is a driving force for these types of Rpgs.

So I feel like they have now trapped themselves back in time periods where armor was used because once guns came into play such as muskets, going around wearing different types of armor became obsolete.

It still obviously does leave a whole lot of years for games to explore but I feel like having certain elements in place is going to lead to limitations on time periods and could possibly eventually lead to every game feeling semi-similair since they all are featured before the 1500s

I think, I don't remember the exact years armor started to be thrown out as something used.

But hey, I might be wrong and people on here might call me dumb. Just let me know what you think.

So which Assassin's Creed is your favorite?

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 03:37 PM PDT

Ever since quarantine started I decided to go through my backlog and 100% every Assassin's Creed. I'd never played the franchise before and although the 1st one was a slog to get through ever since the 2nd game I've been hooked. I'm not sure how I feel about the changes they made with Origin in terms of it being an Assassin's game but I can't help but admit that they're addicting. I think 4 is a great pirate game but not so much an Assassin's Creed game. With that being said just off of pure enjoyment I think my favorites have been 2, Odyssey, and 4. If we're going off the feelijg if being an Assassin then I think the Ezio trilogy and Assassin's Creed Rogue are my favorites. What are your thoughts?

I think that either Ireland or Iceland would be great to see. Also I hope the dlc structure is like odyssey being space out more to keep me coming back.

    How do I attack Deimos?

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 02:31 PM PDT

Honest question: what the fuck am I doing wrong when trying to beat Alexios/Deimos? 90% of the battle he's impervious to any attacks. I've tried 6 times now and I never get him to below around 40% health, at which point he turns into some demi god and it's nigh impossible to avoid damage from him, whilst he's still in some unattackable state and every attack just bounces off of him. I've never been more frustrated with a battle than this one.

Where are the little story notes in Odyssey?

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 05:29 AM PDT

I've just started Odyssey off the back of Origins and I've realised, one of the reasons the world feels kinda lifeless is its lack of small world building notes you can find and read.

Like in Origins in almost every location there would be some small message from the people who lived there with cool back story about the place - like a fisherman worried about nearby bandits, or the words of a religious rite used by the priests of a temple. I absolutely loved these, they make the world feel real and alive despite just being text and they're pretty much a staple of other open world rpgs which Ubisoft seems to want to emulate.

So why the hell did they remove them from Odyssey? Now when I discover a new location with cool name like the Sanctuary of Aphrodite it might as well be called Cave 23 because there's nothing really that distinguishes it from the last 20 caves I've been to. I really don't have much desire to explore this world which is a shame given how pretty it is.

    Anyone else miss these?

Why does the wiki presume we all picked K as the protagonist?

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 09:31 PM PDT

Without spoiling anything, why does the wiki treat Alexios as Diemos? Is that their official view of the game? I thought they'd have seperate pages for the different choices of the protagonist.

Edit: I've just seen that the actual canon of the story is Kassandra being the protagonist. I'm like 3 week into the story as Alexios and if I knew I'd have chosen Kassandra. Thanks Ubisoft for wasting my time.

AC brotherhood mission - need help! (The Ezio Collection)

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 05:38 PM PDT

    Hello everyone!

I'm playing through the Ezio collection, and I really need help locating a classic mission.

I remember when I was playing AC Brotherhood back in the day, there was a mission where you could fight roughly 2 enemies gathered in an area in the north of Rome, just south of the bridge over to the Vatican.

If you headed north to the bridge, you could even add more enemies. If you had purchased mercs and called in assassins, it was superb.

However, I cannot find this mission anywhere in the Ezio collection. If Anyone could help me with the mission Title or number I would really appreciate it!

P.S. It isn't the one where you take out brutes on the bridge, or where you take out graduates within the Vatican.

    Posted: 16 Aug 2020 05:34 PM PDT

I've only played AC1 and the Ezio trilogy. I just started 3 and I cannot get the hang of it.

It also seems like you sometimes get detected and sometimes dont? Assassinating is more difficult? Are there good guides for someone who was very used to the previous combat? I havent gotten to connor yet - does it get better?
