TIL: Lisa Gherardini (The woman depicted in the Mona Lisa painting ) rescued Ezio after a mission and even developed feelings for him

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 01:57 PM PDT

    https://assassinscreed.fandom.com/wiki/Lisa_del_Giocondo

    From the wiki :

"In 1504, while visiting her father's lands near Florence, Lisa rescued Ezio after she found him unconscious and laying among the bodies of mercenaries sent by Cesare Borgia that he just killed. While his injuries healed, Ezio stayed in the barn during several days as Lisa hid him and tended to his wounds. During their time together, they developed mutual feelings but due to Lisa's faithfulness to her husband and Ezio's own commitment to the Brotherhood, the Assassin left before anything could happen.[1]

They met again a year later, as Ezio visited Leonardo after saving the unaware maestro from assassins sent after him. Entering his workshop, Ezio discovered Lisa posing for Leonardo. Upon recognizing him, the young lady gratified him with a little smile which Leonardo asked her to keep for the paint. Deciding not to disturb the artist, Ezio left without telling his friend about the failed attempt on his life and without speaking to Lisa. After this, Lisa and Ezio never saw each other again"

That's pretty interesting, they should have added this in the game.

was Adam an ancestor of Ezio?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 05:20 AM PDT

it's known that both Clay Kaczmarek and Desmond Miles are descendants of both Adam and Ezio Auditore, so does that mean Adam is an ancestor of Ezio? cause if not, than it's really coincidental that Clay and Desmond have the same two ancestors (Adam and Ezio), while the two ancestors are not related to each other.

    Haytham Kenway (AC3 Spoiler Alert)

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 07:05 PM PDT

(Spoiler Alert if you havent plaued past sequence 3 of ac3)

So i just started playing ac3 remastered again and i get the same feeling everytime during the first 3 sequences where you play as haytham in all other ac games its pretty black and white, assassins are good templars evil (which i believe neither is good nor evil) but in AC3 we play under the impression that Haytham was an assassin (i mean he WAS an assassin but during the time you play him he isnt anymore) but turns out he is a traitor and is actually a Templar not to mention THE templar the Rodrigo Borgia and Al Mualim of AC3, but you wanna know one thing i could do with those two but not with Haytham? I couldnt hate him. I grew to like him after ac3 replay 3 and you wanna know why because Haytham shows the more human side of the templars, we've only ever seen them as dictators and kidnappers, manipulators even, but never as people capable of loving someone. After Sequence 3 when the game is loading and you are walking as Ziio and she describes haytham and Connor she says "i miss haytham and i think he even loved me, but his eyes were drawn to the future" even throughout the game haytham isnt "evil" Al Mualim and Rodrigo were both power hungry ready to harm the people that follow them Haytham never truly struck me as such a character, he showed compassion and kindness.

I think Haytham is misguided character he wants people to be free and the way he does it is the only way he can or figures its the only way how.

I love Haytham. I think he is a fantastic character.

AC unities story is actually so amazing.

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 08:33 PM PDT

Even among fans of the game I often hear it argued that the story is its biggest problem. I kinda agreed with it until I replayed it and damn does it do the universe justice.

The game starts with the assassins and templars giving themselves an honest chance to end the 1700 year old war, it would be a monumental moment and steer the french revolution on a perfect track. The rest of the game is about how idiot fanatics on both sides destroy the truce. The templars fall is mostly tolled in flashbacks after killing them while the assassins fall is told In present which works much better than it had ant right to. Both sides fall for near identical reasons, an unwillingness to move forward. The templar uprising that purges the old leadership is done because they feel like the new templars have lost their ways and need be less about power but control, the assasins are less about an uprising but more the arrogance from controlling France for so long. Mirabeau was the soul thing holding it together but after getting killed by a professional idiot fanatic the order loses all of its standards. They are continually less concerned about the revolution rather than securing their power. Meanwhile a small group of "templars" override the french revolution and take that power from them. The assassins didn't fail to prevent the reign of terror they didn't care enough to. Arno Dorian did everything in his power to destroy it and his reward for helping was to get exhiled. There is hilarious irony in that entire scene that is absolutely deliberate. They say he is not abiding by the creed when he's the only one who cares to follow it. The assassin and templar war became a battle without reason both sides want control because.... its the equivalent of a dog chasing a car they don't know what will happen if they catch it. Mirabeuo and de la sear knew this they realized how stupid the war is. The idiot fanatics didn't.

Arno and eliise realize this but they're two people, they dont control armies they did their best but even they (elise) got caught up in their own personal wars rather than the big picture. The entire game is a well executed tragedy, better put a warning. Don't be an idiot fanatic.

Just to share my appreciation for the Discovery Tour

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 06:33 PM PDT

In my life there is no more time for games but I love the combo of history and worldbuilding put in place by AC. I found some spare time to play the Odyssey discovery tour (will never be able to play the actual game) and I just love it.

Also I found it such a great upgrade from the Origins tour (which btw was also nice). The Origins game had inspired me to go to museum and read a book on Egyptian history, and now I believe virtual game museums such as these are excellent tools to give to young kids.

I hope they keep this up for future games - it is currently very engaging and very balanced (the right dose of information, not too basic, not too advanced) and a world of detail to navigate. I would prob play tours of previous games too if that's a possibility.

Lack of French Revolution in AC Unity

I just finished Unity and felt extremely let down by how little the revolution actually played into the theme and overall story.

I forgot how good Brotherhood looks

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 01:02 PM PDT

I've recently been playing the Ezio Collection on my Xbone on a 4K TV and I'm still very surprised how well this game holds up 10 years later, the graphical leap between AC2 and Brotherhood is still quite staggering to say it's the same engine and a year apart.

Faces look less shiny as they did in 2, the lighting is far much better, the shadows on Ezios robes look fantastic. Even the individual hairs on his face look detailed.

Maybe it's just me but I have a soft spot for Brotherhood as it's my favourite but it still looks absolutely gorgeous on a 4K screen.

Assassin's Creed 1 needs more love!

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 02:36 PM PDT

As for as the assassinations themselves, they sucked ass and were boring as all hell, but AC1 and AC4 are probably my favorite "screw around" games in the series, it was so much fun being able to go through "the Kingdom", killing Templars hiding out and secret bases that didn't need to have achievements to be fun to take out, they weren't even really "bases", rather they were just random Templars deciding to chill behind some brick walls and ambush you.

They didn't HAVE to do this, they didn't add much to the game, but the fact they had it at all was so much fun. Altair is also my favorite protagonist, a professional through-and-through.

Helping citizens through-out that Kingdom was so much fun, I felt like a bad-ass vigilante the whole time.

Plus it seemed so much more grand in scale, remember your first time visiting a city, walking in, seeing the gates and feeling this massive sense of wonder overwhelm you? God I wish I could feel that more in games of today.

Similarity between AC Black Flag theme and Journey theme

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 12:47 AM PDT

The starting sections are eerily similar. Was just listening to Journey theme when I realised I had already heard it in a more upbeat tone, in AC Black Flag. Anyone else noticed? Or am I listening too much into this?

Edit: Just got to know that the composer for AC Syndicate, Austin Wintory, is the same bloke who composed for Journey. But.. Black Flag was two years prior, made by someone else, and Journey has no similarity with Syndicate themes.

My idea for new Assassin's creed

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 12:06 AM PDT

    Name: Assassin's creed Bondage

    Place: Babylonia

    Time: 586-538 B.C.

Characters: Nebuchadnezzar II (Lord of Babylon), Jojakin (Lord of Judah), Ezekiel (Prophet), Cyrus II the Great (Lord of Persia)

Facilities: Zigurat E-temenanka (Temple), Ishtar Gate, Esagila (Temple of Marduk), hanging semiramid gardens

In the game, we play David, who is of Jewish descent, in his youth he was taken prisoner in Babylon. The action takes place during the Babylonian Captivity, David learned that the king plans to slaughter the Jews so he secretly allies with the Persians.

AC's Apple of Eden on Netflix show Dark

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 01:43 PM PDT

    Processing img g1qp6hewy3851...

I don't know if this has been posted here before, but we see this "orb" a lot in Netflix Dark's new season and I found it pretty interesting that it's design is so insanely similar to a Apple of Eden (even more as in this context we have the characters "Adam" and "Eve" on the show)

Maybe the director who approved the design is an AC fan? The guy who designed it? Just found it a pretty cool reference, lol.

Does anyone know why Adewale didn’t tell Achilles about Edward Kenway?

He never mentions Edward but he mentioned Blackbeard, Jack Rackham, and someone else I think.

The lack of crouching in the older games ruin the stealth mechanic for me

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 12:04 AM PDT

As a major fan of AC Origins and Odyssey (I can put them in my top 5 games of all time), I tried to give the older titles a chance. Tried AC I/II/III/BF however could not get past the first couple of hours (Black Flag seems the most playable since it did not age that bad in comparison to the first two). My main gripe however is the stealth and the lack of crouching (hiding). Somehow the whole stealth mechanic in the older games seems stiff or Origins and Odyssey might have spoiled that for me. I heard that in Unity/Syndicate the crouch option exist, so I might give them a chance.

I think Shay should have been in 3

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 04:42 PM PDT

To me, Shay is a A+ character, he had good background, development that wasn't a stretch to believe, and his voice is pretty great too. He's also the first time you get to play as an assassin turner Templar. Anyway, a fight between him and Connor would have been amazing. It would have been great if they at least showed an encounter between him and Achilles. This is getting pretty long so I'll end it here.

Is the lore of the newer games compatible with the lore of the older games? (Spoiler warning)

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 03:44 PM PDT

So I'm a little confused about how the lore is supposed to work at the moment. Admittedly I haven't played much of the new games but my main question is what is the brotherhood's timeline supposed to be?

In II it seemed implied that the seals you collect for Altair's armor were in reference to the first assassins but one of them references an assassin that killed Alexander the Great. For this to be true would mean that some vestige of the brotherhood predates the Roman Empire but Origins seems to indicate that the brotherhood was founded in Cleopatra's Egypt. Another seal references a Persian assassin as the first one to use a hidden blade.

Am I misunderstanding what those seals were indicating or was there some sort of major retcon with the brotherhood's origins?

Also what's the deal with the modern storyline? Was it completely put on the back burner or did it pick up again in Odyssey?

I don't really care about having the story spoiled. In fact I want the details, they might encourage me to try Origins again. I would at least appreciate knowing that there are some sort of stakes to the new modern story.

AC: Black Flag audio copied from film

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 05:54 PM PDT

This post would have been better made a few years ago. But I just watched Master and Commander again (brilliant film) and remembered noticing that the bosun's shouted commands throughout the film seem to have been ripped and used in the game. He says some very specific and unique phrases, so it's quite distinctly from the film.

I remember noticing this when I first started played it on release and watched the film.

Anyone else notice audio being ripped? Not sure on anything else, but the bosun's accent and voice make it the most noticeable

Were ancient cities really smaller than ones from the middle ages and the renaissance?

    Posted: 30 Jun 2020 11:41 AM PDT

Been getting back into the franchise lately. Legit have played all the games at least once the past week and it's weird exploring Egypt and Greece to find the cities so? subdued? and small?

    Is that accurate?

I know its ancient times but for some reason exploring Damuscus as Altair felt bigger. Or any city in the renaissance with Ezio, from Florence to even Rome where half the map is barren ruins. Parkouring those areas feel big and more populated while the city buildings in Athens or Memphis other than the temples are barely one storey high.

Even Paris and London are huge, but it makes sense as the timeline itches more to the modern times, but I always assumed ancient cities were larger than that. Its just weird. I expected to traverse rooftops of these old cities I read about as a kid and its only running over a few buildings.

This isn't a complaint mind you. Both Origins and Odyssey have built absolutely stunning worlds and I love exploring Egypt and Greece bit by bit, but I was wondering if anyone else had similar thoughts?

Are the city urban populations and buildings accurate? Does that mean if we ever do get Ancient Rome, it will be just as small?

how did the Armor of Altair get in the Sanctuary?

    Posted: 01 Jul 2020 12:11 AM PDT

in AC 2, the Armor of Altair was locked up in the Sanctuary underneath the Villa Auditore, and it was there until Ezio eventually retrieved it.

so how did the Armor of Altair get in the Sanctuary?

all I can find is that Domenico Auditore (founder of the Auditore family) had somehow acquired it and locked it up in the Sanctuary (this is on Domenico Auditore's AC wiki page), although it could of been another member of the Auditore family who put it there, like maybe Renato Auditore's wife (Mario and Giovanni's paternal grandmother) or whatever, I don't really know.

but is there actually a possible guess for how the Armor of Altair got into the Sanctuary?
