AC 1, AC revelations and AC 3 made me realize how wrong both these orders are. Posted: 21 Jun 2020 10:26 AM PDT Seriously guys. They've existed for millenia. They've warred against each other and destroyed each other, then rebuilt themselves and then destroyed each other again countless times. They've held sway, influence and control over countless nations and empires. But none of them, none, have come close to achieving their goals. None, except for a few, are really villains or heroes. Both just want humanity to get past their flaws but in the end all they end up doing is either inviting chaos and death(like the assassins) or stripping us of what makes us human(like the templars) because they cant stand our unsavory natures. Their war is in a complete deadlock. And neither side has achieved their goals. And its these three games that made me realize that. AC 1 has altair surpassing the brainwashing al mualim employed to his students. AC 3 has connor learning his naive goals destroyed his own people but learning from that. AC revelations has ezio questioning the creed they take to heart. I can't believe how good their writing is. It's great because it examines the true nature of both groups. No other game tackles the complexity of both orders and their goals. I feel like both need to evolve or be destroyed so they can actually change something otherwise all they're doing is feeding into what makes humans fucked up in the first place. If the franchise truly ends one day I hope they do something where someone tries to make their own order. One that tries something different because neither side is really improving anything. I hope that scripted linear missions return in Valhalla Posted: 21 Jun 2020 06:41 AM PDT I really liked that they newer games gave us a lot of freedom in the missions of the game. But the most memorable and unique missions of the series where scripted in linear so they could create a great experience. Thats something I miss in the newer games and most of this new freedom make a lot of missions fell the same. Often you couldn't even differentiate a side from a main mission. Most of the time you just need to go to a location, get in a restricted area (that you maybe explored before) and kill/fight someone or steal something. Its so often the same and I really miss these unique and variant moments from missions in the old games. So I would really like to see a return of some missions to a more linear and scripted design in Valhalla. Maybe the can make a good mix and balance between freedom and scripted/linear in this game. Ubisoft wasted Havana in Black Flag Posted: 21 Jun 2020 10:48 AM PDT Havana in AC4 was a beautiful city. It had lots of squares, a nice tavern, and it was easy to be stealthy, everything about it was great. It's probably in my top 3 of AC cities. That being said, Ubisoft included it only to waste it as a free roam city. Besides the intro missions and the late one, the story takes place mostly away from Havana. I get none of the targets were killed there but as far as we know Torres was there the whole time, we could've had a spying mission on him. I'm just disappointed Black Flag spent so much time in Nassau, which was clearly a shithole, and Kingston, which honestly wasn't much better. One of the best cities in Assassin's Creed was just set up to get collectables. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Jun 2020 04:05 AM PDT I'm sure this topic has been talked about in length in the past and probably with a lot more depth than I can bring to the table but I've recently gotten back into the series after a long break. I replayed and finished Black Flag just the other day and I've picked up Origins which is what I'll be diving into next. But back to Black Flag, whilst dated and a bit janky it's still one of the best AC games out there but the ending to the game / the story, in general, left me with a longing to continue with Edward Kenway. Looking back at Ezio and his story/journey it's no wonder why people got so connected to him as a character and why when people think about Assassins Creed I imagine one of the first things that come to people's minds it's Ezio Auditore da Firenze. I think one of the main reasons for people's strong connection to Ezio is not only that he's a very well written character that a lot of love care and attention went into creating but we saw him grow over multiple games. His life story wasn't just told through a singular title we had 3 games worth of story and character development and no matter how big the newer games are and no matter if those games end up spanning the protags entire life in that one game it just isn't really enough for that connection to be made or at least not to the level that we saw with Ezio. Going back to Edward Kenway I felt they had started that base with Edward in black flag just like the base was started with Ezio in AC2. Black Flag ended on the note of Kenway finally finding himself and his future not through the life of riches and that of a pirate but through the brotherhood. It leaves us on a bittersweet note but with the notion that when he returns home he'll continue on the path with the Brotherhood but we don't ever get to experience that continuation in a sequel title we just get snippets from other games about where his life went. I also think having a character who is developed over the course of multiple games would really help the Templar x Assassins storyline again. For the same reasons listed about about the connection, we form over multiple games with can see a much more detailed story of the continued battle between these two ideologies of that time period. I guess ultimately I just miss being able to enjoy more of the better main characters Ubisoft creates. When they strike gold with a time period/setting and character I want to play more of that I want to grow with that character over a much longer period. Ultimately that's just my opinion on one of the things I felt ended up getting lost after we said goodbye to Ezio. It's one thing I wish Ubisoft eventually gets back to. [link] [comments]
Odyssey just doesn't live up to Origins. Posted: 22 Jun 2020 12:42 AM PDT Origins was such a beautiful story driven game with such amazing quests and voice acting. The characters in origins were so complex and detailed in their own personal narrative and ambitions. The devs and voice actors really nailed conveying their emotions to the player, especially through Bayek, who's voice actor was by far the greatest out of the two games. The world in origins was so complex with attention to detail in every single city. I could tell instantly that I was in another part of egypt just by the detail put into the mountains alone. Odyssey however offers such a bland grindy experience which I can find no joy in. The voice acting is subpar and its simply irritating to hear the dialogue said so poorly that also lacks literally any emotion. Not to mention the camera was simply boring where it only switches to the front of the person who is speaking. The world as well was so repetitive, every town felt the same, the mountains were the same. The combat also sucked in odyssey, it was too magical for ac. Whereas Origins really nailed the brutality in every strike that the player does and really helps you feel like you are the one fighting. In summary, I just dont think Odyssey is half the game Origins was. [link] [comments]
AC Odyssey: Is there a sweetspot for DLC content or should it be considered post game? Posted: 22 Jun 2020 12:41 AM PDT I got the gold edition of Odyssey recently, and I'm a high enough level to play any of the DLC but still have a ways to go on the main story. (I'm currently doing stuff in Sparta). Is the DLC content something I should play in post game or is it a better experience to play it sometime during the main story? No spoilers please! Thanks to anyone who answers! [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Jun 2020 08:27 PM PDT SO i got all the assassins creed games and have palyed a couple of hours of ac1, currently on act 3 heading to acre. is it bad to jsut try to get ac1 overwith as fast as possible? I really dont like the super slow climbing and imo clunky controls and heard it was quite refined in ac2. altough i want to complete the game so i got it under my belt. [link] [comments]
I hope Valhalla gives us a castle that we could use as an Assassin base. Posted: 21 Jun 2020 12:46 PM PDT Imagine the Assassins having another castle in say, England or somewhere else, like the Assassin Castle in Masyaf. Yes, it's conspicuous, but in the Medieval Period, it's the greatest idea. Especially since Valhalla is set before AC1. Plus, a castle that we could use for Assassins would be a nice call back to AC1. It would also be like an Assassin Camelot, since Valhalla is set mostly in England. The Square du Temple in Unity was HUGE, had many rooms, like Masyaf, and was the symbol of the Templars' public face. A castle in that style for the Assassins would be awesome imo. I hope they allow us to have one in Valhalla. [link] [comments]
Posted: 21 Jun 2020 06:17 PM PDT Alright hear me out. Robin Hood was a veteran of the crusades not only in the newest movie but also historical accounts. With that being said that would set him up perfect to meet not only the assassins but more specifically Altair. So why not make a game where you play as Robin hood starting with full blown battles between whole armies in the crusade. Then you meet Altair who takes you to masyaf you get initiated trained and maybe do some low level assassinations in the holy land. Then the assassins send you back to England and now the game follows the robin hood legend as we know it with a few twists. It actually makes sense to have assassins Nottingham England because according to history the knights templar had vast land holdings with large castles around that area. It really sets up perfect for an AC game, and it wouldn't make a bad rpg game type either. [link] [comments]
Do you bother you that Odyssey has a partially generated map? The design of cities makes no sense. Posted: 21 Jun 2020 04:12 PM PDT Remember the cities in Origins? Each city was original, full of life and had a realistic design. Wide main roads and streets, there were fields and irrigation systems around the cities, houses were aligned in blocks and there were landmarks in every city, so you never lost yourself. The trees were planted around the roads. Chariots and horseriders rode in cities. Cities in Odyssey (Now I describe mostly Athens, which made me doubt the logic of design) City has no main streets or roads(hell for traveling merchants or marching army). Most of the houses and trees are randomly put anywhere and the houses are also rotated randomly . No chariots or horseriders, only walkers mostly doing nothing, just walk. The city doesn't even have a straightened foundation. There are pieces of rocks and small stairs everywhere. City has only one big landmark(huge rock... ). You've also noticed how the Odyssey has less assets and a more empty world than Origins? The hills, rocks and trees are randomly put anywhere and rarely create nice panoramas. Roads are mostly empty - no riders or travelers, Trees are not planted along the roads. No fields - people probably don't have to eat. The military camps of Sparta and Athens are sometimes tooo much close to each other(f*ck the logic). I've lost the desire to explore the world. In Origins i explore every location. 😢 Sadly, that between the design philosophies of Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec are such a big difference. [link] [comments]
[Spoiler] I've just played Fate of Atlantis, and I have some big questions about the entire thing Posted: 21 Jun 2020 12:18 PM PDT When you start The Fate Of Atlantis, it is said multiple times that Layla and Kassandra are going into a simulation, that what they are seeing isn't real. With that in mind, how real was it? Atlantis is obviously real, and there's multiple references to Elysium and Hades in the Atlantis simulation, so are they real too? There being a Persephone and Hades fits with what we know about the Isu (every mythological "God" was actually an Isu), but were their realms also real? And if they were, who lived there? In the simulation, everyone in Elysium and the Underworld, excluding Adonis, have passed (there's a forrest with people who killed themselves, for example), but is that just a simulation? Who lived in the real Elysium and Underworld? [link] [comments]
Is there an addon/mod to make the game insanely easy? Posted: 21 Jun 2020 07:25 AM PDT I started playing AC orgins again with my new pc and im loving it. The graphics are incredible. I showed my 76 yrold father, and he loves the aethstetic of the game and was interested in playing and exploring. He doesnt really understand the combat system, may be to complicated for him. Is there a way to remove that and tone down the damage of the enemy's so they hit like nothing? [link] [comments]
Just knocked over Unity for the second time. (spoilers) Posted: 21 Jun 2020 04:06 AM PDT And I actually feel like it was one of the better AC games. Did it have problems at launch? Yep. Now?! I'm playing in 4k at Max settings, and not a blip of a problem. Arno is an interesting character, not as completely fleshed out as I would hope. However I feel like unity is leaning more towards telling the story of how the Assassins can screw up, and politics and purity of 'the creed' can get in the way of doing the right thing. Couple of points that stood out to me, I suppose going from most memorable. Arno literally lets Napoleon walk away with a piece of Eden behind his back. Arno gets booted from the brotherhood for not following orders from the leadership, but he was still killing Templars! Which is what bellec was always pushing for. The masters of the brotherhood don't seem all that interested in defending the freedom of the people when their position itself is put at risk. This comes up when it's revealed the king is in possession of correspondence from the assassins and Arno is sent to retrieve it. Despite the clear position of the public in their desire for freedom, the assassins side with their own self preservation and in that, a piece of Eden falls into the hands of Napoleon. Who later comes to rule France. I guess.. It's subtle. It's not like ezio going and murdering the entire Borgia family and the Pope. But it's really interesting, and Arno is a decent character. Is he brimming with joy and charisma? Nope. His dad died, his foster dad died. His chick is at risk of dying. The guys had a hard run. But in the end he comes good (in the novel, thanks ubisoft) I walk away not in the least disappointed, with hindsight being what it is.. And Odyssey being what it is. I still think I'm gonna skip syndicate. 😜 [link] [comments]
Without a grudge trophy in one sitting? Posted: 21 Jun 2020 08:00 PM PDT Do you have to do the Without a Grudge trophy (ac syndicate) in one sitting or can it be in multiple? [link] [comments]
So do you think Valhalla will have good stealth mixed in? Posted: 21 Jun 2020 07:59 PM PDT I've seen a lot of posts about how people think Vikings were just brutish fighters (strange thought to have now after Odyssey tbh), but does anyone know more about the stealthier side of Vikings? Most of what I "know" is from the Vikings show, but I dont know how realistic that is. They had a whole stealthy clan during season 4 or 5 and a lot of backstabbing and stealthy maneuvers within their own politics. Also the way they took down Paris from inside was pretty sneaky. I read a little about how they didnt see poisoning, sneaking, and guile as dishonorable. They basically did whatever they needed to do to win. I assume all the stereotypes about how they're just mindless killing machines is history taken from the perspective of the people writing history, which would be the scared monks and scribes in England I guess. Idk, what do you guys think? Can social stealth work with a viking warrior? Would a hidden blade even be useful? Or is the sneaking just gonna be an optional way to clear forts for xp like in Odyssey? [link] [comments]

What are people's opinions in Freedom Cry. Posted: 21 Jun 2020 10:35 AM PDT Just went back and beat AC4 years later and loved every second of it. Never played Freedom Cry but I want more. I thought Adewalé was a great character. How does his story compare to Edward's and how quick of a play is it? [link] [comments]

why doesn't my plain cape also change color in AC2? Posted: 21 Jun 2020 04:15 PM PDT so I have a habit of changing the colors of my clothes in each new city to "blend in" even though it doesn't matter I still like doing it and my plain cape for this is still red even though it's supposed to be the blue and it kind of bothers me. Is there any way to fix it? see here: https://imgur.com/a/vLZ4qn9 I acknowledge that this is so small and dumb but my cape changed with this other color: https://i.imgur.com/NEwK4sj.jpg I realize how silly and small this is but just wondering if there is a quick fix or something.
