Assassin's Creed NEEDS a Lore Master

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 12:46 PM PST

Assassin's Creed and any future development of a game by that name needs a Lore Master. Someone in charge of Franchise/Unuverse Canon History and Lore so as to have a better connection between new and old installments. Should also be applied as an official Job position at Ubisoft for each Cideo Game Franchise and should carry over into the Video Game Industry. Addition of new Lore will be discussed, suggested, and implemented with the Lore Master as a consultant incase things dont integrate correctly.

Connor/Ratonhnhaké:ton has more personality than Alexios/Kassandra

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 01:26 PM PST

Alexios/Kassandra have no personality whatsoever and Ratonhnhaké:ton looks like Captain Jack Sparrow next to them. Dude at least had a dream a worked hard for it and never betrayed his own feeling. Every sentence coming from Alexios/Kassandra's mouth it's because we clicked on a button for them to say that, therefore whoever calls them a great character is calling themselves a great character (which might be true, I don't know you but still). It's like saying Link, Pokémon Trainer, Shepard or the Fallout Protagonist are a great character.

Also, I don't understand why people simp so hard over Kassandra. Not the first female assassin and she has no personality, like I said before. Saying Alexio's voice actor sucks is absolute bullshit since both of them were nomitade for best VA and dude is literally greek and spartan. Aya, Aveline, Elise(although not playable), Evie and Shao Jun are miles ahead over Kassandra.

"But she's the main character in the book."

The games were, are and will always be the main content of Assassin's Creed. Whatever happens in the books are meaningless compared to the games, no matter how good they are (I have a few, they're good). If Kassandra is supposed to be the main character, they shouldn't pussed out of having a solo female protagonist with an actual personality, instead of hiding behind of the "bu-but player choice!" shield.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Haytham was hands down the best bad guy in AC

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 09:38 PM PST

Haytham was better than any other villain that AC has to offer. He was ruthless, cunning, quick-witted, skilled in combat, and didn't give a damn, even when he was dying. Haytham understood that the Assassins and the Templars both want peace, but in different ways(he even explained it to Connor throughout Sequence 9 of AC3). The best villain besides Haytham I would say is probably Al Mualim.

Why Germany would make a great setting for Assassin's Creed

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 07:10 AM PST

Germany would be a fantastic setting for Assassin's Creed at almost any point in its history after 500 AD. Pretty much any time period in Germany has a shit ton of possible Templars, and a shit ton of opportunities to see Assassins in their original form.

Want a callback to the days of ACII? The Holy Roman Empire has tons of ambitious nobles, conniving bishops and cunning generals to assassinate. You could rub elbows with the likes of Charlemagne and Martin Luther or fight and stealth your way through the Thirty Years' War (which would probably be my favorite time period for a German Assassin's Creed).

ACIII and Rogue more your style? You could travel around Europe during the Seven Years' War, trying to stop the war's Templar puppeteers and probably join up with Assassins from other countries (like Russia or France) as well.

Looking for something closer to modern times? You could deal with the internal politics of Otto von Bismarck and the German unification. This one would probably be the most well-suited to a Templar MC, given how Bismarck politicked and maneuvered his way through Europe. Nonetheless, there's plenty of historical figures in this time period to rub elbows with, no matter what side you'd end up on.

Plus, all of these time periods would take the German Assassins close to other branches of the Brotherhood and the Templar Order. Something I always thought the series could do more of was show the differences between different branches of the Brotherhood and the Templars, show how their methods and beliefs differ, even if their goals are the same. Given that Germany is smack dab in the middle of Europe and all its politics, there'd be plenty of opportunities for that.

tl;dr: Germany would make a fantastic setting for future AC games, given all the important and interesting people and events that happened in Germany.

Why don’t some people like Connor as a protagonist?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 01:44 PM PST

Just a simple question as I don't see why people don't like him. To me he's like an early Edward Kenway!

    Just full sync'd AC3.

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 12:14 PM PST

Had picked at the game in throughout 2018, finished the story near exactly last year on 3/10. returned to clean up some achievements and got sucked in for full sync. My top three irritating objectives/parts.

    1. Public Execution, realized I could just keep tripping Hickey to protect guards till militia came.
    2. Thieves club, earn 500 gamble profit grinding checkers and bowl (hate you Terry).
    3. Every naval "powder keg" shot objective. The needed patience and timing for that was insane.

Plenty more, but those were my last few that stood out.

Last single player achievement is Extraordinary Man and not even halfway done. Looks like I'll be catching up on my subbed youtube channels grinding this one haha. Then onto Washington DLC.

If any English-speaker was ever interested in playing Assassin’s Creed: Vendetta

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 03:20 AM PST

But was rudely awakened to it only coming out in French, worry no more!!!

In lieu of the Codex's release, I recently purchased the game myself, translated every page in the rulebook and card in the box via Googles friggin awesome picture->highlight->translate side of their Translate app (and learned a tiny bit of French in the process!)

So now to tide you lovely people over and put a glimpse into just how meticulous these things get, I present the full English translation, printable and storable in the bottom of your own French copy should you so desire!

    Prendre plaisir! (Enjoy!)

What are your expectations regarding AC: RAGNAROK ?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 10:00 PM PST

Or whatever the next Assassin's Creed will be named?

(1st of all sorry for my poor grammar/vocabulary, I'm not English)

Rumors say the map will cover the entirety of IXth century Northern Europe. I don't think that's such a good plan, Ubisoft main flaw is to make beautiful but empty open world games, just look at Origins. Odyssey did better in that regard. The map size shouldn't matter. I'd preffer a smaller map or a map the same size as Origin's as long as it's packed with fun sides missions/activities.

Including Mythology in the last 2 games was a good idea, I hope they'll do the same thing, working on events or trials including nordic Gods.

Since it will surely will again be focuced on sea travels I think they should bring back sea activities from AC IV such as fishing, diving and storm/ rogue wave elements.

This is also a rumor but I really hope it turns out to be trop: PLEASE DON'T MAKE SPONGY NPCS. A rumor says leveled zones.

A class system could be nice if Ubisoft really wants to go full RPG.

They should also focus on the main character both in the present and the past. His goals and motivations should be more than "shaddy organisation killed my family now I must kill them". Odyssey was great in that regard because Kassandra/Alexios have litteraly 0 INTERREST into becoming vigilanties, they just do it for money and only later on do it for moral reasons, such as Kenway in AC IV.

Our main character shouldn't be this perfect innocent cocky funny guy/girl. A character a la RDR , going from vilain/jerk to good guy would make an interessting story arc.

Anyway these are my thoughts. Please do submit yours.

Aquilus, Altair, Ezio, Edward, and Connor.

Now I know Edward and Connor is obviously related, and Altair and Ezio aren't but how about Altair and Edward? Or Ezio and Edward?

Vikings May Not be the Move

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 07:22 PM PST

I know...I know.... the Jason dude is seen as having credibility, but I suspect that Ubisoft may be releasing a more unforeseen setting than what we are suspecting. Ever since the backlash from Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and the RPG divergence the company is getting accused of with all their franchises is causing them to diversify their offerings. Of course this game has been in development since Origins, but perhaps it will be really unexpected. In fact, I don't think people are that excited for a Viking game, you guys don't even seem that enthusiastic about it. So who knows what they do?

What does the red thing mean?

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 08:49 AM PST

I've been killing some mercenaries in Assassins Creed Odyssey, and was just about to go find another one when I noticed that he had a red sewer like thing above his head? What does that mean, he's in a tier above me, I know he's not out of my league because he's a level below me.

Rogue Is too Similar to Black Flag in Gameplay

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 01:20 PM PST

The title says it all. I'm not shaming rogue, I think it's a great game, but the menu alone is basically the same, only with a different ship and character, and none of the Guis were changed. If there was no story in either of these games, I'd say they're basically the same game with a different map.

What difference does a better assassin's gauntlet make? (AC: Syndicate)

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 03:57 PM PST

I've had a lvl4 one for a while and now I upgraded to a lvl9 one just for the sake of it and I had a lot of extra money and materials because I did a lot of fighting in the Fighting Club, but I've wondered what difference does it even make? It's just a hidden blade, it's always a 1hit kill when you backstab someone with it right? I don't understand how it can have a higher "damage" stat.

Legendary armour should auto level up

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 01:43 AM PST

...it's not as good as epic, though the full set has its uses. But who can afford to level it up? If it autolevelled with you then it would get way more play time.

    AC Rogue Remastered UPlay Units

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 10:53 AM PST

    Regarding Uplay-/ Ubisoft Club-Points:

Why is the amount of Uplay-/ Ubisoft Club- Units required to purchase every reward in Assassins Creed Rogue Remastered bigger than the amout you can earn from playing the game?

You get 100 Units by completing all the challenges and buying every reward costs 110 Units in total. Am I overlooking something here?

What the point of the storyline with the new games? I was a big fan of the series help!!!

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 02:32 PM PST

    Hi, My name is Ran.

Ten yeats ago I start to play assassin's creed 2 and I was so amazed by this game with great soundtrack after finish it, I start to play the first game and finish all Ezio storyline, and basically the end of the wold on the ending of assassin's creed 3. I like to play it so much, even its was too eazy to kill the guards with your Q. The story was brilliant, even Assassin's creed 4 give some twist.

But after that The storyline had finished, because Desmond save the world, and we now where the fruit of heaven. What the hell happened after this? The next games especially Origin and Roma have new storyline?

"Assassin's Creed Odyssey is a good game, just not a good Assassin's Creed game" - I disagree

    Posted: 07 Mar 2020 02:14 PM PST

There is a common ground in this subreddit. "Sure, I get what you mean. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is so different from the older games. If it simply had a different name, as a standalone title it would be a great game. So just forget the title, and play it as a standalone game." Wrong. As a game with a different title, it would still be the same game with all the same flaws intact. The only difference would be the absence of the stunning disrespect for the previous games, which to be fair, would still be a huge improvement. And yet not nearly enough to call it a great game.

Art is subjective. There is no such thing as good or bad books, movies, games or other works of art. Criticism is a vile thing. Any and all criticisms of works of art is completely invalid. Criticism is meaningless for each and every video game, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey in particular, must be exempt from any of it. If that is your view (and you have every right to hold it), you might as well stop reading here.

That said, let's imagine Assassin's Creed Odyssey was released simply as a game called "Odyssey." Imagine any references to Assassin's Creed being removed or altered. Obviously, changes that would not change the game itself. So, name changes, slight omissions, perhaps a removal of the modern day, and perhaps slight tweaks to certain mechanics. Whatever is your idea of what changes would have to be made without significantly changing the game.

What you are still left with, is a game where you choose between two characters, and the choice doesn't impact the playthrough other than for voice acting and the appearance of the main character. The story still largely stays the same, and it is unimpressive to say the least. The pacing is poor, the story badly structured, the protagonist's character arc largely nonexistent (often directly contradicted by choices presented to the player), the theme undeveloped, the narrative tonally inconsistent and the side characters fairly two dimensional.

The world would still be huge, filled with bunch a of empty, generic landscapes, reusing the same assets over and over again, and inserting same bandit camps and military forts hundreds of time across the map, whether it makes sense or not. The cities and towns would not be nearly as suitable for "historical tourism" because they are largely generic and overuse the same assets unlike previous Assassin's Creed games where different towns and places feel really distinct and unique.

The gameplay would still be the same. Go to the quest giver, talk to him, travel 7341 meters away through generic landscapes to reach the destination. Now you meet another character and learn you have to infiltrate the nearby fortress and kill/rescue/loot. After that, you have to return to the quest giver. Rinse and repeat. Fortunately, most of the quests are highly generic, so playing only a couple will make it very clear what the rest of them are like.

Experiencing the main story in an uninterrupted manner may not be up your alley, which is why Assassin's Creed Odyssey is carefully crafted to level gate you at every step and if repeating the generic side quests longer than you played main quests is not up to your taste, the game conveniently allows you to purchase time savers and avoid wasting your time on said side quests. And if you are tired of playing games with well-designed side stories that have a satisfying narrative payoff, be assured that in Assassin's Creed Odyssey there is no such nonsense, and you can always play bland side quests that don't demand you to pay attention and where you are rewarded with a brand new piece of gear you will quickly replace with another one.

Overall, Assassin's Creed Odyssey would stay the same game. Even if it was named differently. Maybe we, Assassin's Creed fans, wouldn't have felt the need to play it, but it would still have been the same flawed game it is.

If you are unconvinced of what I mentioned above, feel free to check some of the more prominent criticisms from various users I collected here:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/d1kzqe/list_of_criticisms_of_the_recent_assassins_creed/
