    I miss the old combat.

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 10:09 PM PDT

I know many people complained about the old combat mechanism being too easy, like it was pre-Origin. But I really miss those. It was so much smoother and clean, unlike current state of slash or heavy slash.

I really hope they go back to the way it was.

Do any of the Kenway's share facial features?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 11:13 PM PDT

I ask this because for the first time in the series Desmond's face isn't projected onto his ancestors and from AC3-4 we got to see what his actual ancestors looks like plus the fact that the generational span in the "New World" saga is relatively close.

In the Forsaken novel it is explained that the reason Haytham knew Connor was his son was because he recognised facial characteristics that could only belong to a Kenway.

So did Ubisoft actually bother to make any of the Kenway's look alike and if so what features do you think they share?

With the possibility of E3 being cancelled, how do you think the announcements will be made for new titles?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 07:14 AM PDT

There have been a lot of rumors from developers/publishers/insiders over the last 24 hours saying E3 is going to be cancelled, with an announced coming most likely today. If this were to happen, how do you guys think we would get the game announcements (particularly for the new AC, but obviously everything else too).

Obviously Nintendo has their pre-recorded Direct which won't be an issue, Sony was already skipping E3. But what about Ubi and Microsoft? I could see Ubi doing something similar to how they announced Syndicate, via a livestream (pre-recorded or not). I can't imagine they would just dump the trailers onto YouTube and Twitter, but maybe?

Also would they necessarily wait until June for that? Or would they go ahead and make announcements throughout May?

Would you like Ubisoft to make a game where undiscovered memories of previous ancestors could be accessed?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 04:39 PM PDT

The original title of this thread was "Animus Revisited," but it was removed for being too short.

Would you like Ubisoft to make a game where undiscovered memories of previous ancestors could be accessed? In other words, players can once again assume the roles of our favorite protagonists in brief storylines that took place during their lifetimes? So instead of one giant map, there would be multiple smaller maps. I think it would be a good way to bring back fan-favorite characters and time periods without resorting to remakes/reboots.

    Favorite cites to explore?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 08:51 PM PDT

For the games that take place in either entirely or mostly in 1 city, which one was your favorite to explore? I'm not asking which city had the most to do or find, I men simply which city were you most like, "hey, that place looks cool, I wanna see what's going on there."

Black Flag: what does the number of crew actually affect?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 03:04 PM PDT

Hi, I'm unable to find a solid explanation online or in-game. What does the number of crew on the Jackdaw actually affect?

I've heard it affects the ship's 'efficiency' but I'm not sure what that means. Does it change travel speed, cannon damage, boarding fights?

Love this game and I'm replaying it now on PC after playing it many years ago.

Hoping to find an answer on this sub! Thanks

I think the "Animus Control Panel" from Origins should become a more central feature that you can use to improve your immersion

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 06:56 AM PDT

For those who don't know, it was basically a cheat engine you could use to modify various parameters in the game, primarily the enemies. Unfortunately activating it would stop the game from saving, so you could not play the whole game using the modifications.

Ubisoft has gone to some great lengths of UI customisation in their most recent titles, and I think it's time they both take that system further and also allow you to tailor your gameplay experience in more ways. Some of these features could be offered at the start of the game, some could later be available in the options(as a player might not immediately understand the significance of them).

Features I would be interested in seeing that would be fully save compatible:

    1. Exploration vs Guided Mode - same selection as in Origins, but I think for Exploration ingame-descriptions should be expanded, letting you find NPCs easier without having to use the drone.

    2. What locations show up as Point of Interest on the map/radar - Show normal selection: Same set as in Odyssey - Show only Unique: Only locations that are handcrafted or contain a unique challenge/reward are displayed. Generic Soldier/Bandit/Hunter camps, Warehouses and Caves are not shown. - Show all: Any location is marked, even the procedurally generated camps/treasures.

    3. Animal and Enemy Spawn rates - Normal: Same spawn rate as in Odyssey - Realistic: Animals are generally only found in their habitats. Enemies within their own camps. You can still encounter them randomly, like a hungry bear attacking a village, but that is an exception and not a regular occurence. - Large: Outside of PoI, all enemies are encountered in larger numbers. Any forest you enter will look like the Lion King opening scene. While riding down a road you will run into skirmishes between soldiers and bandits every few metres.

    4. Handling of Setpieces - Scripted events freeze when the player leaves the area - Scripted events proceed as normal even when the player leaves - might fail quests or lead to other outcomes if you just walk away. - Scripted events reset when the player leaves the area

    5. Canon-playthrough(assuming the next game has choices once again). - When activated, dialogue selection is automated, with the exception of casual talking, asking for more information and inconsequential choices.

    6. Disable stats from Leveling - Replaces the Odyssey type leveling with one more similar to Unity/Syndicate. Levels themselves don't give stats by default, Gear and Enemies are only split into 5-10 Tiers, with higher tiers stronger than lower ones, but without going off the rails. Keep the different boni on items, but remove Engraving, giving unique items a value independent of their damage stat, as they are the only one with a specific bonus. note: Ghost Recon: Breakpoint announced a similar system for their upcoming new mode, where you can switch between regular looting with gearscore and different rarities on weapons and the new one without those features on the fly, so this should be possible for AC as well

    7. Various modifiers for enemy health/behaviour or the world These would be sliders for enemy health, rate at which special enemies spawn, their behaviour when spotting you or in combat. You could also permanently set the time of day to a specific time to take screenshots for example.

    8. Various modifiers for the player Here, you could enable things like Permadeath, Online Integration, regenerating health, the frequency of locked animations and finishing moves.

As some of these features might influence the game's balance, like reducing enemy HP down and increasing their numbers could make ressource gathering much faster, and progression is something that will unfortunately continue to be monetized, Ubisoft could make it so that the default setting will always be the sweet spot and going above/beyond it will influence the rewards harder(like reducing enemy HP to 50% would reduce rewards by 60% or more).

Obviously not a complete list and I think there's room for even more niche interests that could be their own separate section(like increasing aggro range of NPCs towards each other, always setting yourself to maximum Wanted Level, turning on extreme ragdolls etc.), so feel free to add to this list.

    Chasing Charles Lee unnecessarily aggravating

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 05:43 PM PDT

Is it just me, or is the mission to chase Charles Lee in AC3 unnecessarily aggravating? I feel like Lee is running way too fast. Additionally, why is the chase through the burning boat so confusing? There is no obvious path at all, and if you try to go what you think is the right way, you for from fire damage.

    Future Assassins creed thoughts

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 10:22 AM PDT

I think that unity's gameplay mechanics were the most well balanced between the old AC titles and the new rpg entries.... A game made having unity's mechanics and a story like AC2 would be the near perfect game in the franchise, and could set the bar even higher... I just wish they bring a new MD protagonist, and make a good narrative around Assassins and Templars; it seems that Ubisoft isn't interested in making a good and lovable AC game since after the ezio trilogy (don't get me wrong, black flag and origins are very good games, but they can never match what AC2 and brotherhood brought to the table)....

ASSASSINS VS TEMPLARS. whom do you support?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 03:50 AM PDT

after playing AC 3 and rogue I realised both Assassins and Templars were right but the differences depends on the individual. Templars tends to get in wrong tracks more as they need to be stronger and stable(like haytham and Shay) to assert the power of control over people. Weakness leads them to abyss of pride and powerlust.

Does anyone have any tips on how to cross the battlefield without taking damage in AC3R?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 12:16 PM PDT

The remaster basically forces you to get all the constraints in one play through, instead of just replaying the mission and getting them little by little. Since I'm going for Altaïr's outfit, the Battle of Bunker Hill and the one before it are the epitome of everything I hate about "optional objectives." If anyone has a way to do it, then any help will be greatly appreciated. My patience with this game is at an all time low.

Edit: I did it. Thank you to everyone who helped me. I also 100% every story mission.

A not so little AC4 rant.

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 07:12 PM PDT

So I've made a few post over the last couple of months but basically I'm playing through all AC games doing all the side missions and getting all the collectables. I started AC4 a couple of weeks ago and I've finished the main story and am now finishing up collecting the last couple of collectables.

My problem is after playing AC4 for so long I've gone from loving the game to hating it. Purely because the gameplay is just not refined enough and now I've been going around not doing story mission the gameplay's flaws are just abundant and clear. The navigation is so much weaker than it was in AC3 as well is the combat. The assassination contracts are all super boring and are pretty much go to an area shoot the target with a berzerk dart wait till he dies. The ship wreck missions some are very well done but others are just self contained areas with way to many sharks so you're almost assured to die and have to swim back over to grab the last things.

It's all just so egregious and inconsistent. Let's not even mention the god awful assassins mission thing "Kenway's Fleet" which is just laughable. I love the story, don't get me wrong but it just feels so unpolished and rough around the edges and it make going around the world to collect everything so unenjoyable. Has anyone else done a completionist playthrough of Black Flag and had these issues. I'm like 5 games deep and I'm starting to not want to go on with my playthrough of the series because of it.

Where I Think AC Should Go Next

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 10:04 AM PDT

So, here are some thoughts of an AC fan of where it should go after Odyssey. FOR GAMEPLAY AND NOT STORY OF WHAT COULD HAPPEN

First and people may disagree I think the next game should keep the combat of Origins and Odyssey. That's the kinda combat I personally like, the more Dark Souls combat. I was never a big fan of the early games where it was press/smash button to attack with the same 2 swipes and press button to counter all the while you were facing, at most, two or three guys while the others waited there turn. I like the different weapons and attacks. The parry, the dodging etc The enemies behaving like actually enemies and ganging up on you when/if able if nothing else, at least have the combat be like Syndicate and not earlier games

Second, I would want the PC to not be a demi-god or have some super power weapon. Just let us be some assassin, or person that would eventually become an assassin like Edward, who just happens to be skilled/get skilled throughout the game. And, though I know some people who hate it, you could still have the talent tree like you had in Syndicate. just smaller then Odyssey

Finally, and most important, I think the Story & World needs to be tighter/smaller. While I do like the whole open world of Odyssey, there is very much to take in. Again, go back to Syndicate. It had a tight world and story, while also having a good amount to do. Though the side stuff in Origins/Odyssey is better. So, could have fun/good side stuff like last two games but the story and world be tight like Syndicate or even Black Flag was

Could Odyssey's gameplay suit a future Black Flag remake?

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 04:25 PM PDT

I went back into Odyssey for the first time in about a year, and I got to thinking. The game itself isn't my favorite, but still kind of fun. I started thinking about maybe reusing the open world with the ship and doing a remake of Black Flag. I think it could be rather interesting to see Edward being able to go from big island to island. Sail straight from Havana to Nassau with no loading. Being able to jump straight off the deck of the Jackdaw into the water and dive straight down to the ocean floor (or as far as you could go without drowning). I personally think it could make the gameplay style of Odyssey ten times more entertaining in the pirate setting. And although Black Flag is still a fairly recent game, I'd buy a version just like this. What about you guys?

Can I play AC3 AFTER AC BlackFlag/Rogue (Nintendo Switch)

    Posted: 11 Mar 2020 09:45 AM PDT

Hello guys! I have never played an assassins creed game before and I'm thinking of picking up both Assassins Creed 3 and Assassins Creed Black Flag/Rogue for the Nintendo Switch. I have heard that the naval gameplay (with boats) is better in Black Flag, is this true? If so, will it feel unbearable in your guys opinions to play AC 3 AFTER BlackFlag/Rogue. WHICH GAME TO PLAY FIRST?

I sail a dinghy as a hobby so I REALLY want to play these games!
