You have got to be kidding me - AC Origins end

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 02:19 PM PST

Late to the party but I only recently got to AC origins at the beginning of the year.

I am a parent and it takes me time to get through and finish games.

Now technically I really enjoyed Origins. Beautiful graphics and setting , Liked the new combat system etc.

But my god. Over 40 hours of doing the main quest and other stuff. 40 hours of levelling, getting skills, getting the weapons , armour and upgrading gear. Of practising the combat and tools.

And I dont even do the final quest as Bayek , the pen ultimate assassination or found the actual brotherhood. What were they thinking?

    Assassins creed Rogue critique

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 05:52 AM PST

Shay is not a Templar, he is an assassin. Achilles acts in a way reminiscent of the stronger "ends justify the means" philosophy of the Templars. Shay, being a true assassin leaves out of loyalty to the creed. You could say that Shay joins the Templars to prevent a large tragedy as what happened in Lisbon. But I am not convinced Shay actually turns into a Templar. All the story did in terms of convincing Shay was to effectively say colonial Templar good (helping people) colonial Assassin bad (being strongly devoted to their cause), effectively just flipping the philosophies for a game.

I feel, like most assassins creed games, Rogue needed more time in the pot to properly craft its story, it's intricacies and its nuances to deliver an effective story. Shay ideally would have joined the Templars for a similar reason but grow to believe in what the Templars strive for rather than just being an assassin in Templar clothing.

Why I fell in love with this series, and why I fell out.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 10:08 AM PST

This is going to be a long post, this is just my opinion, please give me your feedback and how you feel about all that's said below

I played AC back in 2010/2011 at my cousin's house with ACII. Honestly, I was sort of "meh" on the game. I downloaded the game on my PS3 and I played it, and I immediately fell in love. I played it so much that the new controller I had eventually started to wear down. After that, I went into AC1, not knowing that synchronization was very important, and struggled to find the missions, but it just shined a new light on AC and I fell in love with the game even more. I loved the feeling of progressing through, fixing the hidden blade, getting the hidden gun, and just learning new moves as my character learned them in their lives.

I pre ordered AC3 and it was the only game I've ever picked up midnight release, and I beat it extremely fast. I've played every single AC game on the PS3/PS4 up to Syndicate. (That's as far as I know the story goes, haven't kept up with Origins and Odyssey)

One thing that ruined the series for me, was how they turned away from modern times. I didn't JUST fall in love with Ezio and Connor. I fell in love with Desmond, Shaun, Rebecca, and Lucy. Modern day was a big part of Assassin's Creed and in Unity and Syndicate they strayed from those completely. I would love to see more of a focus on those times because they were important to the series base and foundation and helped build upon the past in the present and gave us more content then running around old rooftops, and allowed us to run in modern times. From what I've heard, in Odyssey, there aren't even any actual assassin's. I don't know how well it ties into the whole overarching story, but it just doesn't sound well.

Another thing that completely genuinely destroyed my own person viewpoint of the recent AC games was skill points. It just doesn't flow well with the AC games. In previous games, we didn't have to get 3 skill points to be able to leap up while climbing. We had to progress through the story, and as Ezio learned how to do it with the gloves, we did as well. The whole point of the Animus 2.0 was so that Desmond could learn stuff that his ancestors learned. Not relive through some of the experience and automatically unlock something that isn't related to what he's experienced. I would personally prefer it if skill points were removed from any future games, and that they focus more on the modern days while bringing back the characters we missed. Idk what happened the Desmond's DNA that Abstergo got, but just imagine if Abstergo realizes there is some locked genetic code that can't be accessed without Desmond alive, and they use stem cell research to recreate him or something like that but with his mind wiped so he's complacent. Imagine the modern day storyline that can be built upon that.

I can't wait for future games, and I can't wait to be able to afford getting Origins and Odyssey to play them.

But please, in future games, improve the modern day story and get rid of skill points. They don't provide any benefit and they are just a nuisance to have to deal with.

Why do people like Edward Kenway but hate Jacob Frye

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 09:22 PM PST

I played AC syndicate first (after trying to to play AC2) and I liked it but then I was surprised that people hate it a lot.

Everyone was praising AC 2 which I tried to play multiple times but just couldn't bring myself to. I just didn't like it. The scene that everybody praises so much just didn't interest me at all. I didn't feel anything for the character.

So I tried Black Flag because it was the second most praised game on the franchise and I was surprised to see that Edward is so similar to Jacob in everything. Except Jacob is a little less... Grumpy? I'm not sure how to put it. Everyone hated on Jacob's character for being a master assassin when he didn't deserve it but Edward was literally a professional assassin without even any training! It kept bothering me all the time everytime he did an impossible jump or a leap of faith.

I kept waiting for them to reveal that his father was an assassin or something. I didn't like the idea I just thought that maybe this will make it less stupid.

While Jacob and Evie trained their whole lives as assassins. They are one of the few assassins in the game who were actually trained from the beginning of the game so I don't see why people hate on the idea that they would become master assassins and not the other characters who were like: hey, your father was an assassin and now I'm going to to teach you how to do all these impossible things in 10 days)

So, I'm really curious to know. Why do people like Edward's character so much and hate Jacob's.

Xbox 360 vs. Xbox One version of Ezio's Trilogy (need help deciding)

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 11:25 PM PST

    Hi guys,

I am entirely new to the series, so I figured that this sub would be a good place to go to for the question that I have.

I've wanted to play Assassin's Creed series for a long time and now that I finally have the means to do so, I'm excited. I am going to purchase an Xbox One later this month. In anticipation of that and wanting to experience the story from the beginning, I purchased pre-owned Xbox 360 copies of AC, AC II, AC Brotherhood, and AC Revelations from my local GameStop for a really good deal in terms of price. I made sure to double check that they'd be backwards compatible on the Xbox One as well. That being said, just now I came across the information that Ezio's trilogy was re-released in remastered version for Xbox One.

As a newbie player experiencing the story for the first time, would it be worthwhile to re-purchase the trilogy in the remastered Xbox One version due to whatever new features it has, or would it still be just as enjoyable for me to play it as the 360 version? I can return the discs I already bought to GameStop, if anything, but I wanted to get the opinion of those who have already played the games.

I'd much appreciate any feedback you guys might have, and thank you for reading!

Assassins Creed Odyssey: Lost Tales of Greece: Every Story Has An Ending Glitch-----Help

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 10:42 PM PST

I recently finished the story to AC Odyssey and while I was going through the story, I was doing a lot of exploring on the side, probably more of that than the actual story. I'm almost positive I didn't finish this side story, mainly because I didn't get the trophy for completing it, but I really would like to. The problem is that Herodotus sits on the ship and says that same line over and over again. I'm not sure if I've completed the missions, apparently not by the trophies as previously mentioned, but what I have done is dock my ship at Samos in both of its ports to see if the Herodotus quest starts or something but nothing happens. He just sits there.....................

I wish the Marathon was leading to something

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 03:35 PM PST

Every year, we have the AC marathon that has led to either a game release, or the movie. I'm sad that this year we don't have anything to look forward to being released. I really thought a movie or the AC tv series would release this year. I remember how excited for Origins I was after the previous year didn't have a game release. But this year just feels like...empty.

Personal Ideas and Hopes for Future Assassin's Creed Games

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 07:42 PM PST

So first things first I want to talk about the core gameplay. I do not think we should have gone so far down the rpg route. So I feel it needs to be toned back just a bit and go back closer to either Origins or Unity.

I definitely think we need a focused story again. Everyone complained that after Ezio no character could compare and when we finally got a new protagonist that everyone liked in Bayek he was sadly forgotten. I think a good topic for another time is how does Oddysey affect the story of the Assassin's and the Templars and the whole Darius thing.

I also hope that we are not solely restricted to Scandanavia and can travel to other locations such as the United Kingdoms and Germany for example. That way we get to see multiple cultures and perhaps even have references to many mythological events and weapons such as King Arthur and the tale of Cu Chulainn on top of others. Obviously likely the main focus will be on the Norse deities and Beowulf will probably be referenced as a notable hero.

I also want shields to come back. So I think you should have the ability to mix shields with other weapons like Bayek did but still have the option of using twin daggers or even twin swords if you want by simply not equipping a shield in your offhand slot. Obviously most viking shields were depicted to be decently sized like most Greek shields so it will make the reason for Oddysey not having it seem even less reasonable but to be fair most Viking shields are made of wood so they can be made of various sizes and you simply only use the ones on the slightly smaller size. Like how Bayek uses a parmula shield compared to a full sized parma let alone a scutum shield. It makes sense for if an Assassin were to have a shield it should be smaller so that they can still move easily. After all this is why your average citizen carried shortswords but not a shield. It was inconvenient though one could argue that if you are actively looking for trouble it is more worth to have the bigger shield but again the whole assassin thing.

Now onto other things I want to suggest for future Assassin's Creed games as they likely will not fit into the Viking setting as that occurred during the 5th and 6th century. The first idea I have is for there to be hidden blade customization. Obviously the blade itself doesn't matter since it is hidden from the player, I more so mean the ability to add various features. Obviously as far as we know altering the hidden blade really only occured after Altair. Obvious examples would be the Hookblade. It would aid with climbing and also allow you to perform great grappling/evasive moves though it would also be cool if this helped you get through the defenses of an enemy similar to how you could throw away shields in Oddysey, simply have it be used via the hookblade. I do not fully understand why the Hookblade didn't become more popular since it could be a life saver in climbing and a useful tool in combat especially to disarm. Though my only real complaint about the hookblade is that it was made by the Ottomon brotherhood. No offense to them, but I feel it would make more sense to be invented by the Chinese Brotherhood since China has hook swords and thus a hidden hookblade wouldn't take a genius to come up with. Anyways, obviously most of the known hidden blade attachments could only be brought back after Altair at the earliest and others only once Ezio was around. Though nothing says other hidden blade variations couldn't exist.

    Assassin's Creed China

Obviously there is plenty to do with the an AC in China. Unarmed combat could get an overhaul with you being able to use multiple different styles. The Footblade can make a return, and obviously China has many different unique weapons to draw inspiration from.

    Assassin's Creed Japan

Many people have asked for Japan to be a location and for obvious reasons. It would be great for AC to draw inspiration from various ninja techniques for example disguise game play could return.

    Assasin's Creed Rogue 2

I liked the idea of playing a templar and I am not opposed to it coming back but I want the switchblade to make a return. You know the Templar version of the hidden blade, since sure it makes sense to just steal the hidden blade of fallen assassins but I liked the idea of them having a unique one with a different mechanism. Once again the problem is that it was made during the Italian Renaissance.

How are custom controls implemented in Origins and Odyssey?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 12:54 PM PST

In AC syndicate one thing is new that really bugs me. You can change the controls for movement/fighting. But unlike in other AC games it does not transfer to other actions. For quick time events, to start a mission or stuff like that you still have to press the normal keys. How can you not think about this? I have my mouse left handed and use the numpad keys. So to press E or 1-5 I have to use my mouse hand.

Is this a thing in the newer games or just syndicate?

PS. And will I have fun with the chronicles games If I have a very unusual keymapping layout?

    submitted by /u/Gleichgewichtel
    [link] [comments]

I recently finished AC Unity/Syndicate (kinda late to the party but it is what it is) and I wanted to share my thoughts.

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 05:26 PM PST

Ok first of all, i need to get some things out of the way.

Fuck bugs/glitches, fuck co-op missions, fuck not being able to start a new save, fuck collectibles, and most importantly, fuck Bishop.

Ok, now that this is all cleared out, I have to say that I completed both games to 100% sync. The storylines were both decent, as far as the animus is concerned at least. There aren't any strong points in them, but neither are there any weak ones, overall sold work there.

For Gameplay, I liked Syndicate's more, mostly because things that were removed in AC unity like stealth, parkour, walking, not floating after performing leaps of faith, not getting the game to crash every 30 minutes etc. were back in AC syndicate. The rope launcher was fun to use in many ways for a quick escape or to use the ziplines to assassinate enemies, and it gave the game a unique dynamic. I'd compare it to the hookblade in a way, since both tools were quite useful and satisfying to use, while only existing in 1 entry in the series. The return of whistling and throwing knives also massively improved the experience. Stealth missions were actually fun to play in this game as well.

For their settings, I don't necessarily adore either because I was not as familiar with the events of those games the way I was with the rennaisance for example. Although, I have to say that both London and Paris were amazing cities. London felt so alive with everything going on and Paris was just floated with so many people protesting and doing all sorts of stuff, I feel like they really got the right formula for their open world in both games.

The Side missions were better in Syndicate, because they were all do-able without having to look them up, unlike things like the nostradamus enigmas and paris murder stories, which were really hard to complete on your own. The collectibles are equally as annoying in both games, and I was kind of disappointed by viewpoints not revealing every collectible like in AC Rogue and BF.

As far as the main characters go, Arno wasn't really that interesting, and the man who murdered De La Serre was his own personal Charles Lee for the entire story. The dynamic between Jacob and Evie was pretty nice. Jacob's sense of humor and their characters in general are said to be by some "out of place" for a rather depressing time period, but the twins weren't raised in the area of london, so it kinda makes sense that they differ from the general setting. I definitely liked Evie more though and it's a shame we only got to play as her for so little. I can't really talk about the WW1 descendant since we didn't get to see her as much.

Overall, I enjoyed Syndicate way more than Unity (which seems pretty obvious by now). I do believe that Unity had so much potential, but the fact that it was rushed on us made it be released unfinished. (At least I hope that wasn't a fully fleshed game).

I do believe more people enjoy Unity over Syndicate though, and I want to see people's opinion on this.

Black Flag MP trophies - grind or give up?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 04:16 AM PST

Spent the last few weeks griding out all the trophies in Black Flag. To be fair it wasn't much of a grind at all and I quite enjoyed playing it all over again.

All I need for Platinum is the multiplayer trophies. It seems like quite the grind, especially as hardly anyone plays it anymore. I've dabbled lightly in it and got to Level 5 but that's about it. Is it worth carrying on? I'm not sure it's even possible as there are several activities I need to trigger outside of wolfpack.

I feel like I want to move on to Origins / Odyssey now but equally I'm so close now I should probably try to get the Platinum. But if it's loads of hours just to artificially inflat my MP stats I'm not sure I can be bothered...

[Spoiler] AC Odyssey main quests disappeared after Abandoned by the gods?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 01:00 AM PST

So I was playing the game's story and somewhere after Chrysis tries to burn the baby and run away, I could no longer access the main story quests. I think I've finished Abandoned by the Gods, but I can't remember exactly since its been a few weeks. I definitely remember the one where I save the baby and Chrysis makes a run for it. Now I can't find Phoebe to start The Streets Run Red (or whichever quest was meant to come after).

I went around doing all side quests but I'm not able to unlock the story. Helppp :(

Assassin's creed Odyssey, still no way to get a Shield even through mod?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 03:04 AM PST

For many reason, I would want my character to be either with a Shield and sword, or a shield and spear.
As Ubisoft since not to give a damn, and there is not going to be anymore update...

I was wondering if there was any way we could mod it in, or remediate this?
