    The ultimate assassins creed

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 11:43 PM PDT

I will go through the 4 pillars that make up assassins creed and explain what they ideally should be.

Story - the story of assassins creed needs to be mature and heartfelt. It should offer commentary on the human condition and morality. The story needs a healthy balance of all emotions to really engage you and connect you to the protagonist. The protagonist needs to be relatable and one players can get behind. He doesn't have to be as charismatic as Ezio, and he certainly can't be as one noted as Connor, there needs to be a range of emotions the character feels throughout the story. No more of these light hearted stories like Syndicate and Odyssey, this franchise is mature in its themes and story and these ones are extremely forgettable and only there to justify the existence of the game, not the core of the game.

The most important thing is to hire great writers that have a history of excellent work and leave it to them. The story also has to link to the lore of assassins creed in some way.

The overarching narrative needs to be reintroduced properly and with foresight and plan to do something with it. This section of the story has been in shambles ever since Desmond died, it has went absolutely nowhere for 7 years. It is a shameful part of the games.

Scrap Layla's story, they are making it up as they go along and it is being done by poor writing talent. Layla is the most unlikeable character in the franchise.

Parkour - parkour has mind bogglingly regressed in the recent entries. We were introduced to a great and responsive parkour system in unity and syndicate and then they scrapped this in favour of clumsy shambling. Go back to Unity parkour and build it so that the player mechanically controls what the protagonist does alike the free running vault, climbing vault and the ledge jump from the Ezio trilogy. Other mechanics can be introduced like realistic wall running and maybe even a feature where if you fail to press A/X when landing a jump you stumble or fall over. Stop ignoring parkour.

Combat - a hybrid between the two systems we have seen. The aesthetics of the paired animation system combined with the mechanical depth and engagement the free form combat provides. This could take inspiration from red dead redemption 2s melee system as this is paired animation and free form, but obviously far more complex and fleshed out. The old system was too mechanically shallow whereas the new system is really choppy and ugly.

Combat will also be grounded so it is less RPGey and more action adventure. The player should have 5-10 health bars where the amount of bars is proportional to the attack and the weapon. For instance a sword slash you would take half a bar, a stab 1 bar, a knife stab 4. The player and the enemies should not be able to eat damage, especially when they are impaled all the way through or stabbed through the neck.

Base move list (all of these can be combined to perform cool moves you learn throughout the game, for example X+A = evasion attack, RT (running)+A = slide under/over attack the d pad will also contribute to this system) A: tap dodge, hold for roll X: attack Y: tool B: parry (different timing for different weapons)

Stealth: a complete revamp of stealth in the franchise is necessary. Inspiration drawn from great stealth games such as splinter cell Blacklist, MGSV. Features such as prone, lighting, interrogation and communication between enemies. Things such as tailing missions will be reintroduced but will be actually fun with a great, deep and entertaining stealth system.

World - we need to be immersed into it. As minimal in game menus for game mechanics as possible. A map could be implemented into the game without needing to pause, the inventory system that would need to be managed and the quest log is all that is needed. No unlimited inventory. Things would be stored in hideouts and your horse, basically immersing the player as much as possible in the world. No more menu upgrades, this would be done through a crafting bench/ harbourmaster. The world needs to focus more on packing it with interesting things rather than sheer size.

Now I know that this will fall onto deaf ears as the appeal to a more casual audience is profitable, but assassins creed can be so much more. The series has so much potential that is squandered by casual friendly choices. If Ubisoft continued to do these releases but in the meantime funded a red dead redemption 2 style development allowing the devs to be creative with a large budget we could have masterpieces that really harness the potential of the series and rediscover an identity.

Lots of talk about outfits recently, decided to mention a favorite from Syndicate

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 03:32 PM PDT

All of the outfits in Syndicate are incredibly spiffy to be, barring just a few (Evie's First Civ armor makes no sense, for example), but there's one that I believe deserves more credit than it receives, which is George Westhouse's robes from the beginning of the game. We only get a couple of shots of the robes (not a jacket really..) but here's a couple pictures of it for reference:

    Front

    Back, from initial Syndicate leaks

The robes really appear to be a more modern, Victorian spin on Ezio's robes from AC2, and that's why I have trouble calling it just an outfit or a longcoat, because they look like Assassin robes. Honestly, they're incredibly charming to me, and it still remains a great disappointment to me that we never got them as perhaps Jacob's "special" outfit via some mission where he returned to Crawley or even received them as a gift from the Brotherhood after George's death (we have no idea what happened to George after Sequence 1, so I'm just spitballing).

Opinions on these robes or Syndicate's outfits in general? Safety and peace, friends!

There should be a hybrid between the two combat systems

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 10:37 PM PDT

Combat system 1 - benefits - very aesthetically appeasing, cinematic, makes you feel like an assassin. Drawbacks - mechanically shallow, especially in the American saga. Combat system 2 - benefits - far more engaging and mechanically deeper. Drawbacks - the animation is AWFUL. Honestly the worst fighting animations I have ever seen in a AAA title, let alone any game. It looks so clunky, cartoonish and comical which in my opinion ruins the system alone.

My suggestion is that we combine these systems to get the best of both worlds. Bring back the paired animation system instead of the slapfest we have now and combat will be far better.

Also, we need to get rid of health sponges, both main character and enemies alike. It is ridiculous. Ideally the player should die from 6-10 strikes from a normal enemy with a sword depending on how much the player has upgraded his armour, and regular enemies should be killable too. The combat system we have now needs to be grounded back to believability. At the moment we are stabbing enemies through their necks and then they get up with 1/20th of their Heath still there because they are a level above you. Spongy enemies slows the pace of combat down and it is not engaging, it is just tedious. Make enemies actually threatening.

Something I'd love to see in future AC games

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 06:44 PM PDT

Something I'd love to see in future AC games, is an overall spooky atmosphere. Maybe a slight horror theme, with spooky, Victorian era type of houses. Also, the ability to have and create a fully customizable home base. Kinda like in Skyrim, only not have a vague amount of building. And being able to add on to preexisting buildings. (Think similar to Fallout 4.) Imagine being able to build secret rooms and hidden staircases. In a Gothic setting. And have hidden vaults with crazy ways to get into them, such as pulling the correct book out of a bookcase. (Like an Addams Family vibe.) This just sounds wild to me. What's something you would like to see? Thoughts?

Will you still preorder the next AC Game after witnessing the disaster of Ghost Recon Breakpoint?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 08:08 PM PDT

I love Ashraf as much as the next guy, but I think we should be skeptical of this next game considering how egregious Ubisoft's practices have been as of late.

Need Help finding locations in Rogue

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 06:32 PM PDT

I'm playing Rogue right now, and I'm running around doing whatever as I've already finished the story. Is the area where you first start in the story still available, and also is the area where you do training with the assassins available? I want to visit these places if possible, but I don't know where to find them.

[Spoilers] Are we going to see Desmond’s son?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 06:51 AM PDT

Apparently Desmond has a son somewhere. It's a hidden fact buried in a file in one of the less popular games. Do you think we will see him be a main character at any point?

Do devs ever come on here and gather thoughts from the community?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2019 01:02 AM PDT

I have never seen it. For instance in r/modernwarfare there are devs that go through the feedback and idea flairs and respond very frequently and they have added lots of ideas from fans.

[Spoilers] Odyssey DLC: Legacy of the First Blade Ep#2. Argh are we still allowed to complain about this here?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 09:10 PM PDT

Because man, that ending is so shocking I bet the regulars here are fucking tired of having people come in and complain about it. There's just no way that hasn't happened.

Nataka was such a wimpy wuss, I turned him down at EVERY opportunity, and acted distant every time, and then boom, we settle down and have a kid? Fucking hell no, my Kassandra would never settle for his pathetic weepy eyed self. Brasidas? Absolutely. That hunky doctor we meet 1 time? Sure. His dad Darius - in a heartbeat!

    Ugh.

I honestly would have been more OK with it if they HAD railroaded me into the romance, and made it cannon/shown. But they gave me like 4-6 (?) choices to be romantic or not ( i always said no) - what was the point if the end result was always the same?

Really awful choice that, I'll forgive em as it is their first RPG and I've loved it otherwise. Hopefully Ep3 and the Atlantis DLC can rescue it (No spoilers please).

What's the female love interest like for Alexios? Does she at least have a personality?

List your complete wishlisted setting for future titles

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 04:14 AM PDT

    Here's my list:

    1. Vikings invasion on England (AC 2020 probably)

    2. Feudal Japan (maybe during Mongol invasion like upcoming GoT)

    3. Imperial China (Ming dynasty reign)

    4. Russian revolution in 1911 (I know it's modern and used, but October revolution is interesting)

    5. Medieval India during Mughal dynasty/ British colonial India (sounds little AC3, right?)

    6. Spanish Inquisition (AC movie setting)

    7. Spanish invasion on Latin American (little counterparts we can found in AC4)

    8. Medieval Europe (anywhere in France, England or Germany in middle ages as we haven't seen much medieval times on the game except for Unity's prologue and AC1)

    9. Mongolia (Khan's invasion on Central Asia, Persia and India in single game)

    10. Ancient Rome game (it was supposed to be happen from previous rumors, but not now, but game entirely set in Ancient Italy will be interesting)

    11. Wild west in end 19th century (playing as outlaw protecting the civilians, steam trains sounds awesome and reminds me of RDR2)

    12. European colonization on Australia (Outback, Kangaroo, small cowboy settlements)

    13. Persian game (Serves as nostalgia for Pop series but in historical setting, we already seen some Persian elements in Odyssey, so new game dedicated to that culture would be awesome!)

    14. Vietnam (during Chinese domination)

    15. Another North american colonial (like AC3, but more focused on native tribes like Iroquois, wilderness, boars, new England would be good to see)

    16. Turkey (we seen only Istanbul in Revelation, but how about entire land of Turkish to see in game, maybe during Byzantine rule or rise of Ottomans)

    Does Atlantic DLC get better?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 06:04 PM PDT

It feels like pure nonsense and a bunch of aimless fetch quests with no purpose or goal (which gives the fetch quests meaning). I'm about 3-4 hours in and about ready to just move on to another game. Does it get better, or start to return back to the main story?

    Assassins Creed: Rogue things

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 12:36 PM PDT

I really want to play Rogue as I've finished Black Flag and am fiending for more naval gameplay. The trouble is, I only have a shitty 4gb Xbox360 and although it says on the back of Rogues box that I only need 1gb for the mandatory instillation, I read somewhere that it needs more. Can someone please confirm whether or not my 4gb console will work? Thanks

    Odyssey mercenaries farming exploit

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 12:31 PM PDT

Discovered by accident, might be useful to people who haven't reached that moment yet.

Caution: to use it properly, you should be around 46-47 level or higher, and have maxed out assassination (at least ~80K damage). If you took all necessary skills and wear a proper gear, you will have more than that, but I'm just saying.

There is a moment in game, when you are supposed to do some stuff in Boeotia and Elis, and later meet some characters in Arkadia. Until you do both above, you can't visit the latter - when you cross the border of Arkadia, you receive immediate "three heads" bounty - which is cleared as soon as you leave Arkadia. This works in a way, that mercenaries hunt you starting from inside it, so it can't be used an exploit to "bait" them somewhere (because they won't hunt you outside, and will actively search inside), but... there's an exception, at least one.

When you are in Elis, find Cave of Ionides - it's directly S/SE of Olympia. Entrance to cave is in Elis, but when you go a little inside it (before dive), you cross the border... and be hunted, with mercenaries spawning outside at the border, at the road below the cave. Wait a little, go out (bounty is cleared and mercenaries start to leave), mark them with Ikaros, call horse and quickly get to them, then assassinate from behind, starting from the last one. Usually I'm able to kill all three of them, two at least.

Easy work. Repeat as you wish.

Generally, this is a great way to bump your Misthios from lower rank (I started this at 4th) to the top, probably even 1st rank (I can't, because top one is in Arena).

My hopes for the next installment.

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 03:57 PM PDT

While I did enjoy Assassins Creed Odyssey with all the new mechanics it had to offer, I'm hoping the next AC game will be different. I'd rank Assassins Creed Odyssey as my second favorite game in the series just behind AC2. That's because AC2 and ACO really changed the fundamental elements of this cherished franchise I hold dear to my heart. Allowing me to have the sensation of something new and fresh! That's why I'm hoping the next game in this series won't be like any game before. A completely new, yet slightly familiar, take on Assassin's Creed.

Looking to get back into the series, how far back should I go?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2019 11:33 AM PDT

So one of my biggest issues that I have with starting a game series over again is where do I start.

Do you go all the way back to the beginning or is the game really not worth it in comparison to the later titles? Is it worth it just because of the storyline and the connection it has to the other games that came after it? All of these things keep me from pulling the trigger and I'm just looking for opinions. I have played and beaten every game up to Black Flag. I have played all of them but never finished one after 4. I do currently have 65 hours in Odyssey but I haven't played that for a good six months now.

So I guess my point here is, if you are going to get back into the series where do you start?
